Would be smart to pick the backup number, although it brings up the question :
Will they have to do this selection process every season or will people be able to keep their numbers ?

I guess that if it's still in use by some active driver, the number should stick with him.

The real question is if the FIA will force the world champion to use number 1.

In a lot of bike racing, people have got attached enough to "their" number and often don't run the 1 anymore if they have won the title the year before..

It says they keep the number for the duration of their career.

No surprise there....

Really looking forward to the second driver announcement. Sauber has been really quiet about the russian money/sirotkin in the last months.
[edit] would be cool for DiResta to get the seat. I really don't see them fit together though for some reason!

They probably need that money so if the russian money ain't coming, they're gonna have to grab it somewhere else...

And reading that Abitboul interview from Caterham about drivers "having to participate", I fully expect them to go for pay drivers as well. Does VDG bring any sponsors ?

If the Russian deal falls through, or Sirotkin still can't get a license to drive, the last person they'd go for is Di Resta. He brings no money.

Scrabs came up with a possible solution for the penis noses.

"Thought of the day, what was the last successful low nose F1 car? the McLaren with its snowplough arrangement "

iSebWMd.jpg

"What if we try that idea on a 2014 nose, with the snow plough forming the tip to meet the new rules?"

I reeeeally hope it's a viable solution for the teams. It would save the 2014 season.

And his schetch of Caterham nose, after watching their crash test video:

It's not even looking like a penis, it is a penis :/

My. God.

That has to be a joke right. That every F1 designer is puling a prank on us and on the day of the first race they all go 'HAHA GOT YOU' and replace it with a normal, non-penis, nose.

These are the World Series by Renault chassis, also known as Formula Renault 3.5, folks. It's similar to GP2. That's where Magnussen is coming from.

I think EJ is spot on except he didn't know that Daddy Chilton would lose the motorsport sponsorship for junior and he's out.

Wait, Ericsson? Does he have some major backing? He's been pretty shit in GP2 IIRC.
God, If we get a Swede AND a Dane in F1 next year I'll be pissed. I'll have to make a few phone calls, see if I can get some oil money to put me in Chilton's seat as Norway's representative. I'm pretty well qualified, I drive a kart like, twice a year.

Webber on the best driver he has raced against:

"Probably between Seb and Fernando [Alonso of Ferrari]," the 37-year-old said.

"You've got to pull everything together. It's hard to say. We've had to always tweak our skill-sets, that last part of our profession - Pirellis, refuelling, one-lap qualifying, all that sort of stuff.

"So to try to answer your question, on Sundays Fernando over two hours is a handful. There is no question about that. Over one lap I think he's not with Seb. But on Sundays between those two it's very, very tight.

"Lewis [Hamilton of Mercedes] is handy but probably not quite as much of a machine as those two are. They are literally 'plug them in and off they go'. They are very, very handy."

Hamilton could be if he would concentrate on his career instead of doing 20 other things on the side (hiphop album loool).

"The guys who are the best are the one that beat me and my best friend" expected from Webber really.

Can't stop watching that.

Put air pressure cannons into the bottom of the cars!

Maybe Red Bull should look into that for a new racing series.

Bianca Garloff ‏@bgarloff 7h

(1/X) Just heard that @eboullier might have resigned from his job as @Lotus_F1Team team principal. He does not want to be responsible… (2/X) ... for the chaos there any more. Is it true, @eboullier and @Lotus_F1Team? Source comes from Renault family…

Anthony Rowlinson ‏@Rowlinson_F1R 32m

So is @eboullier about to join @clubforce? A little bird tells me yes. The same little bird who placed @SChecoPerez with @clubforce...

Lotus is really starting to look like a sinking ship.

Where's that? I thought Wilson Security was an Australian thing.

BTW Those are the Skip Barbers, yes? Or the Formula Fords?

By the look of it, it's Formula ford at the V8 Gold Coast event. Probably the fast left hander after the hairpin at the south end of the circuit.

Edit: Looks like Alonso is going for #14, not surprising as he always has this number when outside of F1 charity events etc.... and Kimi #7.

Remember this?

"I need to be working with the engineers in the factory, and I feel like I am going to have a winter like in 2006 going to 2007," he said.

Well, Hamilton is with his dogs at Doggy Day Camp:
