Weather gone wild! Tornado & HAIL take Malta by surprise in freak May thunderstorm
Isolated showers were forecast today, but the weather went a bit overboard.

Caroline Curmi

Malta was this morning taken over by rain clouds just as weather forecasts predicted, but the light rain experienced earlier has evolved into a full-out thunderstorm, and it's safe to say the situation has since gone out of hand.

Heavy rainfall has been reported across the Maltese islands, with hail spotted in parts of Malta.

Footage of a tornado forming in Malta was also shared to Facebook by The Weather Page Malta along with the caption: "Weather gone wild!"

Temperatures stand at 18°C at the time of writing, a far cry from the warm 30°C temperatures we had grown accustomed to in recent days and weeks.

Tomorrow's forecast is looking decidedly perkier with sunny and warmer weather expected, however another storm may be on its way over the weekend.

Where's summer gone?
