A*Men Pure Havane by Mugler is a Amber Vanilla fragrance for men. A*Men Pure Havane was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Huclier. Top notes are White Honey and Tobacco; middle notes are Vanille, Cacao and Patchouli; base notes are Amber, French labdanum and Styrax.

After two limited edition versions of the original A * Men fragrance, A * Men Pure Coffee from 2008 and A * Men Pure Malt from 2009, Thierry Mugler presents the new edition A * Men Pure Havana in May 2011. A * Men Pure Havana is a gourmand interpretation of the tobacco scent and the finest Cuban cigars signed by perfumer Jacques Huclier.

The composition opens with fresh tobacco leaves and honey, followed by notes of patchouli, vanilla and bitter cocoa. The base is warm and oriental with notes with labdanum, amber and styrax.

It is available as 50 and 100 ml EDT.

Pure Havane by Mugler:
This is a really nice tobacco scent, one of the best I've come across. It does get slightly boring in the drydown but the opening is gorgeous. It has great performance and most guys could pull it off in winter. It's expensive and illusive, not sure I'd buy it but if it was more readily available then I probably would. CK One Shock is a cheaper alternative but it does lack that amazing opening.

The unisex appeal of this fragrance lies in its dry down, reminiscent of Alien Absolue Essence. With that in mind, here's a glowing review: whether you opt for a sample or the full bottle, it's a wise investment. Even if you don't wear it often, its value is likely to increase over time, especially considering its discontinued status.

👋Hey vintage hunters!

I just spotted a 2012 Vintage Mugler Pure Havane on eBay at the store under the handle 'guardianofthefragrances'.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/176173348539

Early 10’s batches are GRAIL as they were loaded with concentrated naturals, and pre-IFRA banned aroma chemicals. The very first LIMITED edition ‘cigar box’ formula had an amplified CHERRY note. So delicious! More niche to my nose as they were limited batch runs. Don’t waste your money spending 100’s on modern batches- they are diluted linear trash in comparison. Even the cursive 'Thierry Mugler' boxes smell more mass produced- NO cherry note!

The original formulas smelled much more like photo-realistic unit cherry cigar – not just a sweet fresh tobacco scent. I didn't know this until I did some research and got ahold of some bottles. Even the cursive 'Thierry Mugler' boxes smell more mass produced- NO cherry note!

I'd get the bottle myself, but I have too many bottles lol. I've shopped with the seller before - very friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy, and offers refunds if bottle doesn't meet your expectations.

Just spreading the word!

Chiknight

No other tobacco fragrance comes close to this. This is a high-class, sexy, bad boy Tony Montana type of fragrance.

saidi.med

astonishing fragrance sweet and sexy, I have an extra sealed bottle if anyone wants it in italy!

faris_fauzee

owned one, smell a little bit feminine in the drydown, opening is amazing, cherry pipe sweet honey tobacco. The drydown is not that great for me

DEDMAR

@MrMrBrian
Even this site says Pure Havane got released in 2011 and Naxos 4 years later in 2015. Check the data before publishing silly “facts” 🤦♀️

Zachhh

The opening is mind blowing… a must-have if you like honey and tobacco. This doesn’t really smell like naxos..if you own both you know. Yes the ingredients are similar, but this fragrance focuses way more on the honey and tobacco than naxos does. This is less complex but knows exactly what it wants to be and does a great job at it.

Btw please check out zachsellss on EBay if you’re looking for a brand new bottle!!

Mr Inquisitor

This is a perfect cologne for cooler months. Absolutely stunning and I love it. The atomizer sucks though because it’s lodged in the bottle itself and it is kinda clunky.

miyake_enjoyer

Smells amazing, projects well, lasts 8hr- WORST atomiser of all time

Mr Inquisitor

A nice sweet smell man. It’s just perfect.

MrMrBrian

This is amazingly good stuff..Forget any of the other ones that this is similar to!! With the exception of Naxos which came before this & to me does have it beat!! I never thought I’d love the Lavender note in this scent profile till I came in late on Naxos. But take out the Lavender note & This is niche quality Naxos in a designer fragrance!! If that’s not saying something I don’t know what is!! I had a feeling where this was going before it went there & got stocked up on this one & all the other Amen flankers & ready for whoever’s interested in trade talk!

Sailorsct

If anyone knows of a fragrance that smells anything like this one please let me know! 🙏

ahmadkhaliile

Pure Havane is so sweet that it makes me gag, even in winter. I prefer the original A*Men to this one and all its other flankers. The reason I ranked it so high is that I struggled to find a bottle, and over the years, I was subconsciously programmed to love this fragrance because of all the hype.

JusttheFactsMan

#506 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

I just got delivery of 10 Mugler decants from Fragrances Line. This is the first I've tried. I am a fan of Reyanne Tradition scents, but not their potency. Not worse than any other EDTs, but especially when I tried "Insurrection II Wild", I really, really wanted an EDP version. Mugler has granted my wish and sweetened the deal, a lot! And upped the price, a lot

I knew a US Navy veteran who joined up before the outbreak of WWII. His first duty station after basic was Guantanamo. He had many photos of himself in the brothels and nightclubs of Havana. This is the sort of cologne I imagine him wearing for a night on the town in those days. Honey and so much tobacco that I'm sneezing like my old man just lit up a pipe full, but I don't mind at all. Reminds me some of Guerlain Honey Tobacco.

For those of you that have never encountered the creamy sweetness of "White Honey", growers in Hawaii harvest it from Kiawe trees, and it is a triumph of Islands marketing with wild claims about extending lifespan, promoting weight loss, boosting immunity, pain relief, anti-oxidant activity. I'm surprised it's not credited with improving erections. I don't know about all that, but it's wicked good on a buttered biscuit. Other types of honey are branded "white honey" but this certainly smells like the Hawaiian stuff to me. Whatever the origin it's adding a ton of sweetness in this fragrance making it a cross between tobacco and a Mars candy bar. If you're a gourmand lover, this will ring your dinner bell!

This stuff is very potent, great projection and longevity. But this is definitely NOT business wear. This stuff needs some elbow room and it would be too much in the close spaces of car pools, elevators, the office. But casual wear day or night it's a winner. Hot weather, probably not. The college age folks I know associate tobacco scents with older men as do I. Honestly I really can't pin down an environment appropriate to this scent, but I don't much care. This is one I'd wear just for my own enjoyment. But that said I will not spend the money for more than a travel spray.

Addendum: One of our compatriots suggested I might try Dua's "When in Havana" and Alexandria's "Havana Tabac" which dupe this scent. Alexandria appears not to make that product anymore, but Dua still has their's. Doesn't seem like much of a risk at $45 a bottle.

Dimmuburger

Farthest thing from mind blowing. Quite average. If you have Herod, Naxos, or any other tobacco-honey style cologne, do not have remorse over not owning this one and don't overspend for this on the grey market. This also lacks the longevity that the other two possess in spades. I own multiple from the Amen Pure line, and besides Wood and Leather, this might be my least favorite. It's not bad, but it's not the head turner it's been made out to be.

ermeyasgirma72

Where do I begin with this fragrance? Let me start off by saying it lives up to the hype and then some. I got a barrage of compliments the first time I ever wore it out and had people asking me what I was wearing. Onto the actual scent, a beautifully blended mixture of tobacco and honey, similar to Naxos. The fragrance is warm and comforting, perfect for colder seasons. Despite it being discontinued, I would still recommend buying it if possible, even for a slightly higher price. The only complaint is that the projection and longevity could be better. The projection is moderate/long-lasting roughly 4-6hrs I'd say, and projection is definitely within arm's length. However, I still believe this is a stellar fragrance and top 3 in my collection, would highly recommend! Overall - 9/10

httrung32

I bought the new reformulation bottle after L’Oreal acquired Mugler fragrance a year ago. The scent is a warm and fresh blend of amber, honey, and dried hay. It is sweet but not too sweet. It has a subtle well-blended tobacco note in the background that adds a masculine touch to the fragrance. I think it is very suitable for young men, unlike some other tobacco fragrances that smell too mature or harsh. However, the performance is not great. It only lasts for 4-6 hours on my clothes and has a moderate to subtle sillage, even in the tropical hot weather. I have read some reviews on the old formulations, have not smelt them but I think it was definitely better. Anyways, I still like the scent a lot, I just wish it had a better longevity and projection. I have been wearing it for a while and always feel confident in my casual clothes with it. It makes me feel like I can conquer whole work day, or at least the morning workout. ☺️

LLdeduction

More masculine Naxos, with a more pronounced tobacco and some added darkness from that Mugler style patchouli. I still love Naxos more, but this one is fantastic with that strong tobacco!

I happen to have the EL reformulation which is weak, watery and overly sweet/synthetic. It has a fairly delectable honey tobacco opening that gets cloying in no time flat.

Pure Havane... I bought my first bottle 11 or 12 years ago, my signature scents were Bogart Pour Homme and Creed Aventus at the time and Pure Havane felt like an upper class niche version of Bogart Pour Homme. Fast forward to now I still enjoy it immensely and made sure I would never run out of this juice, I definitely stocked up on Pure Havane. Oddly enough I've never tried the Mugler version and I'm still on the lookout for one.

The tobacco note is like a beautifully crafted burley pipe tobacco, the honey note is boozy and the whole thing feels warm and thick, an absolutely stunning juice. You need to go easy on the sprays just like Bogart Pour Homme. Fantastic dry down with great performance and projection. Better suited for colder weather but I rock Pure Havane year round.

The juice color does change from the light brownish yellow to an almost deep golden color if you let your bottle sit for a few years but the scent profile doesn't get much stronger... well maybe a tad bit. The rubber flask cover can get a little sticky overtime. If you cut around the top of the rubber flask cover you can get proper access to the atomiser for better control over the sprays, removing the entire rubber flask cover reveals a pretty good looking bottle.

From Bogart Pour Homme to Thierry Mugler Pure Havane... Xerjoff Naxos is next. I hear great things about Naxos, can't wait to finally get a bottle. I did try the clone, the Paris Corner one... not bad at all.

justcheckinout

EDIT: Turns out my decant might be a dupe.

The top notes are a big love for me! Both the honey and tobacco notes are sweet, yet very light-weighted. It's not as syrupy as the honey note in OG Angel or A*Men. It feels like smelling tobacco leaves while drinking honey water. As the opening tones down, the scent transitions to the familiar Angel DNA, the vanilla-patchouli combo. However in Pure Havane, vanilla is the major player over patchouli. Because the honey note is still in the background, the middle phase feels like as if eating a honey ice cream with dark chocolate chips. The drydown is similar to the OG A*Men, a powdery sweet base, but without the coffee note. Personally I prefer the top notes much to the drydown, so I'll spray this on my clothes to get more of that delightful honey tobacco!

i miss this smell

ybaddour

Objectively..
I was searching for light sweet notes with tobacco perfume..
The Honey is very heavy(Very Sweety) Honey Smell is too much Dominant and the mix is very sweet..
The Tobacco is not really that powerful in that perfume..
honey so sweet and not fresh its smell is heavy and muted by (tobacco or cacao maybe) it can let you feel you want to vom!t if you dont like that much sweetness in a perfume..

of course it is a good quality perfume
but generally i didn't like the idea of mixing tobacco with sweets

i'm searching for a decent powerful notes smoothed by very light fruity or smooth notes if you have recommendations for i would be happy so it has the dominant men smell like one man show for example but much

My favourite fragrance of all time. Honey, tobacco and pachuli. Perfectly unisex. When i smelled it the first time it was instant love. No other perfume has moved me so much. The perfect tobacco fragrance, what I was always looking for.
10/10.

I agree with @Endymion, @DavidTV's similar fragrances are not actual. They just listed three random popular men's fragrances

Endymion

@DavidTV
Did you "wrote" all your Mugler reviews in a row with AI? All your reviews seem way too similar with only some words changed. Or you used a template and only changed some words in each review? Weird!
Also your list of "similar fragrances" are ridiculous. According to you, most A*Men fragrances are similare to Dior Sauvage and La nuit de L'homme. What? :D How can a fragrance be similar to both Neroli Portofino AND Le Male Le parfum? This is completely ridiculous!

digitalink

Over 200 fragrances in my collection in this very well be my number one. It just works on my skin to my nose. It is sweet but not too sweet and while it has weight behind it, it never comes off too heavy. Just one of those scents that make s me smile.

I don't recommend anyone to blind buy anything as we are each unique in our tastes, scent memories, etc. But I will say for me, even at the increased amount to being discontinued it is a steal compared to the cost of other high end fragrances that I have purchased over the years.

I own two back up bottles as I hope to always have this in my collection.

lithohydrobio

Testing a 2010 vs a 2018, the original formula is definitely retaining this true tobacco scent on the top, best ive ever smelled and has this perfect balance of sweetness. the latest batch goes quickly into the dry down elements, much faster , which is nice too. The heart is sooo caramelly. But theres something dated about this.

SWEET TOBACCO KING

You will feel good about yourself with this fragrance!!!
Tobacco (the type of moist, honeyed cherry aromatic tobacco), honey, vanilla and cocoa have been perfectly blended in the opening and heart phases. The honeyed tobacco accord leaves a trail for a long dry-down and is tamed by amber and resins.
Just don't wear it in hot weather, by the sea or in the gym. All other situations are admissible.
You will certainly love this fragrance; otherwise, there may be something wrong with your sense of smell and you will need a nose doctor for sure.
The 9 questions everyone asks about Pure Havane:

My ratings for this delicious and seductive joint:
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Opening: 10.0 (a gourmand pleasure of moist tobacco; the ladies can perceive it to be very masculine)
Dryness: 9.0 (not really unique; it is seductively resinous, but still very good with the lingering sweet tobacco)
Longevity: 8.5 (not premium performance, but good enough for 9 hours with 3 sprays)
Silage: 8.0 (slightly above average with a 2-meter radius with 3 sprays; projects for 2.5 hours)
Uniqueness: 8.5 (Other A*Men flankers, such as XerJoff's XJ 1861 Naxos and Reyane Tradition's Insurrection II Wild do not warrant taking more than 1.5 points off)
Ease of use: 8.0 (avoid any hot climate)
Versatility: 9.0 (don't wear it on the beach or to the gym; don't wear it if you have to meet your ex-wife as you risk bringing her back!)
Praise: 9.0 (men and women react very positively and enthusiastically to this perfume)
Quality: 9.0 (excellent ingredients for the juice, but it's a pity that the spray is ineffective)
Presentation: 8.0 (uses the beautiful flanker A*Men / Angel Men bottle but with a "kinda low cost" presentation due to the very "plasticky" brown colour of the bottle)
Price: 8.0 (at 45€ to 50€ minimum price (in 2019), it had an above-average cost if compared to many other designer EDTs, although it can be considered quite original; however, it has been one of the cheapest A*Men flankers; Now it is discontinued and its price may reach who knows what value).
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Overall rating: 8.64 / 10.00
between 7 and 8 => above average;
between 8 and 9 => recommended;
9 and above => not to be missed;

My opinion of "Pure Havane":
It is one of the landmarks of today's perfumery. It's the "everybody likes it" kind of perfume (and many even love it). It can also be addictive. Once you buy it, you will wear it until the end of the bottle.
Recommended? Yes - Is it worth buying blindly? No - Try it first.

Cholera

It has that unique A*men DNA of caramel and patchouli but in this one they added tons of honey and tobacco, smells heavenly just like the OG and it is different from most tobacco fragrances out there. Perfect for cold weather, the only thing stopping me from giving this a perfect 10 is that its sweetness can sometimes be overwhelming.

Apache1830

Was expecting, as the name suggests, a strong tobacco frag with some nuances, like Herod. But it's nothing like this

It got this "candy/sweet" DNA that the Mugler I tried all shares

Strong honey, with tobacco and vanilla

Too sweet for my taste, but a very good fragrance imo

I just spotted a 2010 First formula 70 ml Pure Havane cigar box batch Batch on ebay at the store under the handle 'guardianofthefragrances'. Decent price too on the first formula with inflated costs

So good! Brighter vibrant red cherry top, modern formulas are less fruity and more a linear caramel cigar vibe.

I'd get it myself but I have too many bottles lol.

jagpanther

Hi Folks, if anyone is interested I have a 3.4oz bottle of Pure Havane with the original box. There's about 85% left in it. I really like the fragrance but it's a little too sweet smelling for me. Let me know if you're interested and I can send a few pictures. Thanks. =)

Xisco

Does this last more than 4-5 hours for you? Love the smell but I don`t want to ruin it by layering it or adding the life hack of moisturizer to extend the smell.... Pure malt is also a fragrance I have and EDT as well and last way longer on me about 8 hours

/\/\/\/\/\

Fantastic honey and tobacco scent, I’m not sure if I like this or Naxos more. Both are definitely must have fragrances and owning one doesn’t make the other redundant at all. They are both such addicting fragrances to my nose anyway, as for Pure Havane I will give it a 9.5/10 for scent, 10/10 for longevity(12hrs on me), and 7/10 for silage. I really enjoy wearing this and only wish I had more bottles!

9.85/10

I recently bought Mugler Ultimate and Amen and was very pleasantly surprised. I had never smelled a Mugler cologne that I know of, so immediately watched several videos from influencers on Youtube and I quickly learned everyone said Havane was the best of the best...so I had to get me a bottle....BUT its discontinued so it was hard to find. But one day I finally found one at a decent price, so here are my impressions after wearing it a few days.

I really like Ultimate and Amen....but this one is just ok to me. I can see why it was discontinued.I can smell the Mugler DNA in Havane but there's just something in this cologne that I am not fond of...not sure which note it is. Also it smells dated to me... is it possibly spoiled because this bottle I have is over 10 years old? Not sure, but overall not too happy with this one.

5/10 - Something is off with this one IMO

Guest2563

Good. not as good as naxos but good/

John718

I blind bought this fragrance due to the many fragrance reviewers with positive inputs on this fragrance a few years ago. Unfortunately for me I don’t enjoy this scent profile. So if anybody is looking to buy or trade for a basically brand new bottle, please message me. I have proof of purchase, and it’s still in it’s original packaging.

jbinner88

A*Men Pure Havane Mugler is an amazing fragrance, especially at the top. I get a sweet honey like cherry tobacco. It does project and I did receive quite a few unsolicited compliments when I wore it. The fragrance felt too rich and out of place for the office and I never felt like I reached for it much, but it's still one of my favorite scents. The cacao at the dry down gave it a packaged powdery hot cocoa smell with a hint a vanilla. That vanilla powderiness is what pushes this somewhat feminine to me. Regardless, I miss the gourmand uniqueness from this Thierry Mugler line and hope they bring it back someday.

TheFragranceShark

Mugler Pure Havane is the scent of success, sophistication, and a possible nicotine addiction. With notes of honey, tobacco, and vanilla, this fragrance will make you smell like you're living your best life...even if you're secretly struggling with a pack-a-day habit. Just be prepared for some concerned glances from your loved ones, wondering if you've taken up smoking. But hey, if you want to smell like a suave, smooth-talking gentleman who knows the value of a good smoke, this fragrance is for you. Plus, it's a great way to attract a swarm of bees, in case you're in the market for some apocalyptic fun. Happy sniffing!

Chiknight

I own the vintage Pure Havane and has been my absolute favorite fragrance for years. It's like stepping into a cigar shop in Cuba and picking up a honey cherry cigar and taking a whiff of it..Sweet but smokey and smooth..It's a perfect balance. Perfect Men's fragrance. This easily beats Tom Ford's tobacco inspired fragrances.

OggiNoggi

The opening is a bit offensive and play-doh-esque to my nose, but once it dries it's a great gourmand.

Cvetan27

If someone sell it please send me a massage ✌️😀

jenwut007

10/10 I think it is the best for me. But I can not buy it easily in Thailand.

r0gerg

My all time favorite 10/10. What a beautiful, unique fragrance. When I wear this perfume my wife always says that I smell delicious, that she wants to bite me. Other ladies seems to love it too.

MattL

I’m going to be a bit of a contrarian. After reading all the hype, I bought a new bottle from a reputable eBay seller. Based on so many reviews here, it sounded fantastic.

When it arrived, let’s just say that I was less than impressed. Very weak scent (not to mention a cheap plastic bottle and poor atomizer). Having used Herod, Royal Tobacco, Sweet Tobacco and others, to me Pure Havane smelled like a cheap knock-off, like something a teenager would buy for $20.

I’m putting my bottle aside for a couple months, in hopes that it will macerate and mature a bit. For right now though, thumbs down from me.

SmellSharpe

Sweet tobacco with vanilla, amber and a bit of wood. Long lasting and dries down up into an excellent scent. IMO it is Mugler’s best.

It is not worth what it is currently selling for on the secondary market though. Buy Reyane Insurrection Wild II for under $25 instead. I own both and the Reyane Is almost identical.

vintages

Bad atomizer, but an incredible smell. sweet honey, unlit tobacco, vanilla, and coumarin, with notes reminiscent of liquorice and anis. I don't say it is licorice or anis but I can't describe it other than that. some say this is cherry-like. I consider Pure Havane a gem among modern, sweet masculine designer scents. a 10/10
It's one of the not-so-many scents that got me real compliments from sober strangers. I would buy it for the rest of my life. but it's discontinued. how can a company treat customers like that?
Update: I also purchased Insurrection II Wild because of the praising reviews and to save as much as possible from the OG. and, it's a great scent as well, it is a good clone and recommended, even blindbuy safe. Insurrection II Wild has more of a cherry compote note than liquorice/anis.

ROUSAK

Sweet well blended caramelized tobacco. 7/10

Good
Just this😉

BootneyLee

I really wanted to review this, because this scent was one of the first "intriguing" scents I'd come across. Its a heavy honey tobacco scent that really does it all. Yeah, its in a cool bottle too. This is the best Mugler men has to offer. I've tried them all. Pure Malt is bs. THIS IS MUGLER"S BEST. So if you want one, get this one.

xXT3Xx

Such a unique & interesting fragrance! I loved the sweet honey & vanilla mixed with rich tobacco & cacao over amber notes. Performance was good for me aswell. Got about 8 hours with decent projection. This is an incredible blend for being a designer in my opinion. Have no idea why Mugler would discontinue it...

Scentologist11

Esteemed Mugler's Pure Havana A*Men.. Made according to a sexy fragrance profile, which constantly gets a bigger audience of its fans every day... In this category we have quite a few very well-known strong players (Tobacco vanilla, Herod, Naxos...) Like similar the others, this one is also made especially for seasons without heat and the sweetness makes it stronger! Tobacco, chocolate, honey, vanilla and patchouli make for some quite a sweet bomb - for me it is very useful and sexy in winter! Tobacco smells have a characteristic aura and add a feeling warmth and comfort - but Havana can be directed a little too much in the sweet direction like the others listed above - It's not for every day - but when I use it - I enjoy it! So the offer has been discontinued, isn't it?

FragranceNS

I see many post that it's discontinued. Confirmation? I ask because it's still on the Mugler website along with Pure Malt. Other ones that are actually discontinued are not. Mugler was known for having a fragrance, limiting/pausing production so it's hard to find, then producing it again. As I said, still on their website.

BOOM Sweet + Tobacco
1-6 h. for me .

Cdub5_

This stuff smells so good!!!
Every time I come back to this fragrance it blows me away with how great is smells and how well it performs.
Truly one of the greats

GoblinMan

Just purchased it from a local reseller. Probably one of the best blind buys I have ever done. The sweet honey with cherry-piped tobacco is a godsend. I live in a country with a warmer climate, but using this during the colder months is still viable. And mind you, the coldest months here in my country are not even close to the hottest months of lets say New York. Sad that this has been discontinued.

tkruise

This tobacco + honey smell is insanely good, but hits you like a punch at first, and then when it dries down it becomes one of the best scents I´ve ever had, I don´t recommend blinding this, it´s a bit overwhelming but VERY, very Unique.

gospodinov_s

I have the very old original version and the new one... ahm, almost nothing in common. The new one is just a cheap copy of the original. Good that they have stop this criminal act ...

Thorbern

Not being a fan of Mugler, I haven't really worn the bottle of Pure Havane that I've had for several years. After the discontinuation and prices rising, I thought I might sell it, but it was only right to spray it one more time.

Some time later, I couldn't work out what I was smelling, and then it dawned on me. Xerjoff Naxos.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined they could smell (so) similar. I dismissed all the claims that they were.

I'm not saying they smell exactly the same, but a few hours after spraying, what I smelled definitely made me think of Naxos. Technically it would be the other way around, as Pure Havane came first, and shame on Xerjoff for copying the scent (and charging so much for it). However, as Pure Havane is discontinued and the prices head toward Naxos territory, it's worth considering.

So I will keep my bottle of Pure Havane after all and use it infrequently until the bottle is empty, because although I don't agree that Naxos can't replace it, Mugler's creation is special.

SalivatingSoul-stice

Yeah Naxos can't replace this. Naxos is good, but this right here has it all! Naxos is missing the gourmandy patchouli cocoa sweetness only mugler knows how to do

Dumbplings

Calm, gentle, smooth, soft, comforting and I really enjoy wearing this to bed makes me sleep like a baby so relaxing!

markromeo5

This is really a crime to beauty!!
Why would you ever discontinue a Masterpiece like this???
You need to Stop doing that!!!
BRING IT BACK

Thatbwoy

I missed out on this initally and wasn't to bothered then I thought I wouldn't mind finding out for myself what all the hypes was about. And now I've sampled it - I get it, but I don't think its desrved. I like the scent but think there are better scents out there than this - plenty that are worse. I like it but I'm not kicking myself because I missed out on this ; if it is recommissioned again in some far off date and I remember what I think of it I would buy it...but if I missed out on it again then fair enough.

Dawnyallah

Just tried the body oil version from:
Perfume-oilsdotcom and it is going on 7+ hours good sillage/longevity.

I work in a cigar shop and received a couple compliments already.
It really does smell like Hawaiian Volcano choco-macadamian-vanilla cigars---we sold them at my other shop, but nobody that truly smokes quality cigars actually smokes them! They do smell good though. We refer to them as the girly stix. Not much else going on in the drydown, but a bit of cherry tabak. I can imagine rubbing this oil on a sandal incense stick and lighting after a nice dinner in the kitchen.

I figured that I would get 2 hours tops out of this oil, Nope! This stuff really brings the overtime action. Willl be trying the A-men malt oil tomorrow at work. If you are ever in Austin, stop in Casa de Montecristo and have a cigar, bring a bottle too.🥃 Byob.

Closing thoughts; For about $3.50/oz and monster longevity, well, it is what it is. Enough said.

ScentSay

This takes me to a tobacco shop I remember my dad taking me to as a child. Lidded glass jars with rich, sweet, dried leaf. PH seems to have bottled here all the most delicious varieties: I can detect a soft cherry note (if I really try), the vanilla feels smooth, I think maybe the honey + the amber give it a little sweet density, personally love the “bite” of tobacco, and how the cacao shows up in the dry down. Wish this was easier to get!

AaronT

Smells good think I left a review before, but I'm glad I bought this back earlier for around £40-55, for 100ml because now this is going for some ridiculous prices, (well I guess it is kind of fair - supply and demand) but wow £250- 320 for something that wasn't made like a 300 let alone a £200 or even a £150 fragrance, but I'm glad I got it when I did, if anybody sees and wants it (and it's going for a decent price) just get it.

sltchd

Wonderful smell for wintertime, very gourmand.

rubenski

Wow, just WOW! I have had this gem for some months, got it right before it got discontinued, and it's oh so beautiful. It gives me such a happy feeling. Although this may be portrayed as a cold weather fragrances, which is not wrong, I find this wearable in sunny warm days too. Imagine a walk through Havana, with a good cigar and your friends. I just dress it in a short-sleeved vintage oversized shirt, put my sunglasses on and let my hair loose, and roam the summery streets. Yes, it is sweet, but as a man, it is unisex, but not feminine to me.
Lovely scent!

ckorp8

@Tyler2004durden Thank you for the suggestion. I might try it if really still not used to it.

Tyler2004durden

@ckorp8 If you have difficulty with the sprayer and it just spays a thin, direct spray you can consider cutting a hole in the top of the bottle. I did that after seeing it on a youtube channel and the sprayer works perfectly now.
Of course it "ruins" the look of the bottle, but I'd rather have a good distribution, than a nice looking bottle.

ckorp8

Really beautiful tobacco vanilla scent wuite similar to CK One Shock for Him and TF Tobacco Vanille. Love them all. This bottle, however, is kinda difficult to spray. Weird with the plastic cover and all. My first Mugler btw.

Outaroad

Best fragrance from the Mugler line. The scent is mass appealing. It has a honey/ cherry tobacco vibe going for it. The projection is not the greatest but the sillage makes up for it.

guyan

This is a must have in your collection..the memories that this fragrance provokes, whenever I get the urge to smell it, is worth the current price tag imo. Maybe it's because I bought this when it was still on the Macy's counters but, my appreciation for this is very very high. I think it's probably the best tobacco scent you'll ever wear !

JazzFragrance

Sweet honey, tobacco, & vanilla. Beautiful fragrance! It is the designer version of Naxos & Naxos is one of my fav frags period. Sad it was discontinued and with the passing of Theirry Mugler I think the price will only go up even more. With that said this is one of my favorite designer winter fragrances.

Dumbplings

This is such a weird fragrance that I cannot really say what it smells like...but I can tell you what it doesn't smell like tobacco, patchouli or cacao...But it does have a slight honey and vanilla scent to it, it's also creamy.

My first impression actually was I thought it smelled like black licorice...but then I thought it smelled soapy...Now I think it smells like creamy honey vanilla scented soap if that even exists.

But this fragrance definitely grows on you, i'm liking it more all the time because it's so unique and different. I'd just buy it for that reason alone because it's unique

Don't expect anything amazing though, it's definitely overrated and you're not missing out on much if the rumours it's discontinued are true. But it's a nice scent, although an acquired taste and subjective, not a safe blind buy or mass appealer. It's pleasant and comforting to me, this is one of those fragrances that just feels like a hug and bring me comfort, it relaxes me

Appleanche

Man Pure Havane is just amazing - I'm glad I picked up a bottle on eBay for *only* 30% more than retail.

What's great about it, is it's quite beautifully done in every facet. It's sweet, but not overly sweet, especially in comparison to most modern men's fragrances loaded with cashmere, etc. It's got tobacco, but good, warm tobacco and the right amount, plus the earthiness of patchouli.. all just in the perfect balance.

It's truly a shame it's been discontinued, I have a full bottle available now and I'm dreading the future already because I want this to be a cold weather staple. Maybe I'll try Insurrection II Wild potentially in the future and maybe it will be close enough by the time these bottles are $300+

*loves_shoes*

Naxos is more masculine than this, I think it’s the lavender.
This is nicer for a woman in my opinion, and more feminine than pure malt as it’s much sweeter.

Sweet tobacco and vanilla with a soft warm spice. Really delicious.

Sadly, it doesn’t project for long on my skin, but does last as a skin scent.
I have the MUGLER newer version.

Scentsibilities

A masterpiece in the fragrance world imo doesn't matter whether its niche or designer its truly one of the best scents. The fact a niche fragrance followed the template shows how seminal this fragrance creation was.its combining a masculine tobacco note and earthy patchouli with rich and sweet cacoa honey vanilla.

Furthermore the resinous amber adds even further depth plus the styrax and labdanum give even more body. Many say that Xerjoff enhanced the DNA but I think they simply varied it as this is a winter wonder that's bold and powerful the Xerjoff has more of a freshness.

inkhorus

The fact this is discontinued is so criminal in so many ways. For the same price I'd get Naxos, but Naxos misses the in-your-face edge Pure Havane will always have.

Gravemind98

One of the best designer winter scents out there. The sweet honey cherry mixed with a little bit of spicy is amazing. I don’t seem to get as much tobacco as everyone else, but it’s definitely there. It’s not as natural smelling as tobacco vanille, but man is this good. This is an absolute blind buy if you’re into sweet tobacco scents. And women seem to love it! Do not hesitate, get your hands on this

Scentedalterego

I could almost cry over how beautiful this is given it was a blind buy, but I also adore anything Mugler, and especially Angel. It opens a tad masculine but quickly it becomes sweeter with a delicious tobacco leaf note that reminds you of boozy smoking hot nights. Sweet but not too much. A cool girls version of Angel. Love it. I got a 100 ml of the Thierry Mugler version for 90 euros. I think this is the most I've ever payed for any Mugler. I think that is reasonable considering the rarity, but don't pay a lot more than that.

Naxos comparison:
My sample of Naxos inspired me to get this and they are definitely very very similar. Naxos has the smooth niche thing going on more than Pure Havane, however Naxos also has a type of musk in the base that really doesn't agree with me, it is quite typical of Xerjoff that note. If that musk wasn't there I'd have slightly preferred Naxos maybe, but now I prefer Pure Havane because it's Mugler and lacks that musk.

LeChefRouge

This is an enjoyable tobacco scent, but not worth the hype or price it is currently going for. This stuff lasts forever on my skin with great sillage. I prefer PdM Herod for a nice tobacco scent. This juice smells great on the right woman, but it was an easy sell with the current prices it is selling for.

acecorde777

This is arguably one of my favorites in my collection. let go of a bottle of Naxos because I'm not a huge fan of the lavender notes. this is essentially the exact same scent without that note and it is exactly what I was hoping for, probably my favorite honeyed tobacco scent in the world. it's a shame it's been discontinued

Cologne Cathedral

Very warm honey based scent.
Can be very cloying.

ObsessedJoydjay

Apart from all those sweet tobacco fragrances already compared to in the reviews, I find Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men (2008) to have quite a close vibe to Pure Havane, achieving similar results.
A semi-gourmand chocolate strawberry + mildly smoky guaiac wood vs Pure Havane's cherry tobacco patchouli.
I'm not saying they smell similar nor substitute candidates for each other.

Depending on the deal, Spicebomb Extreme is also a nice alternative..

Armchair Racer

Wearing this today in honor of Mr. Mugler's passing. RIP Thierry Mugler ◼️

Owning the first 2011 and the 2013 formulation here´s the conclusion:
Pure Havanne is the best perfume from the whole Mugler line and is an ideal hybrid between niche and designer. The oriental fragrance manages to combine niche notes to a mass appealing smell.
The cherry opening stays for about 15 minutes, then a sweet and sour tobacco note leads to the base.
Pure Havanne was often copied. And the best formulation come from the middle East as Pure Havanne is an oriental fragrance.
About the mentions "alternatives" here in fragrantica compared to Pure Havanne:
Bogart Pour Homme > Plastic and one dimensional
Animale Animale > Heavy on Pineapple
London for Men Burberry > Strong on Lavender
Tobacco Vanille Tom Ford > Overdose of Vanilla
L’Homme Ideal Guerlain > No Honey, sweetness missing
XJ 1861 Naxos Xerjoff > No cherry note
Noir Extreme Tom Ford > Sweet cake
A*Men Pure Malt Mugler > They have similarities
Arabesque The Merchant of Venice > Sweet unisex Pure Havanne
Sweet Tobacco Spirits 18.21 Man Made > Much more honey and drier

ArrrDee

I love this so much on my partner that when he doesn't wear it some days, I do. The smoothest tobacco note I've encountered. This one right here is the reason I decided to go out of my comfort zone and explore more tobacco notes. I've found some other gems, so thanks, Mugler.

Tobacco, vanilla, and honey with a little bit of a balsamic opening. Smooth and beautiful. Great stuff.

Squishyy

Few fragrances have left me blown away quite like this one. Pure Havane is just… wow 🥰🥰🥰

Mugler then decided we can’t have nice things so they discontinued this. You can now find it on eBay for north of $200… yikes. I was lucky and was able to pick up a 99% full second-hand bottle of this from another Fragrantica member for around the original retail price.

Unless you can find a reasonable deal (you likely won’t), and you MUST get your hands on this scent, go for its expensive twin - Xerjoff Naxos off a reputable discounter. You’ll likely find it for less than what eBay sellers are charging for PH, and you’ll get the highest quality stuff in a beautiful bottle.

Bigmike650

Beautiful fragrance🔥 too bad it’s so expensive now days 😩

Colognelover88

i had a a small decant sample of this and loved it.

One of the few recommends that isnt bad, i will be getting a bottle if anyone wants

Mugler had a typo when they named this fragrance. It should have been called Pure Heaven.

I joke, I joke. I do love the Havane reference. It makes me think of sitting on a beach somewhere in Cuba with a drink in one hand and a cigar in the other. Which is ideal - as that is exactly the vibe that this scent exudes upon application and all the way through.

I won't wax lyrical too much here, but I fully admit I slept way too long on this one. After having the chance to pick up a 100ml for around $165NZD ($112USD), I just went for it as this one doesn't really pop up in New Zealand much.

I sprayed this on, 2-3 sprays to the chest under a white linen shirt, and immediately, audibly "wow" escaped my mouth. I won't go into the notes as they have been done to death below, but for me personally, I get that fresh tobacco (fresh! not old), which to me is the nicest tobacco note I have ever smelt in a fragrance, as well as the luxurious honey/vanilla/cacao trifecta - which just goes on, and on, and on. I could smell it on the linen shirt the day after, and the day after that (literally two days+).

Some mention cherry - I only personally smell this right at the top as a blast of beautiful sweetness, but my girlfriend smells it on me for some time in the first hour. Perhaps a bit of nose blindness going on as this thing is a bit of a quiet powerhouse.

I feel like this is the scent I have been searching for. Which is terrible! As it seems as though it's destined to be another in the pile of discontinued scents that I will forever crave that end up on eBay for 4x the price. If it was still current, would no doubt be my forever signature scent. I will cherish my bottle for as long as I possibly can.

Personally I'd wear this every day, but for most I'd probably say not in the dead hot heat of summer. Warm is okay (15-20c) but not 20c+.

A masterpiece of a fragrance, and if you have the chance to even get a small decant, just to experience this beautiful scent, I encourage it.

L'Oréal, if you're reading this - please bring this back - I have no doubts it'd sell.

PrettyPerfectPatrice

So DUA Fragrance makes a version of this that smells Just like the original. I have both this and Naxos (a couple bottles of each)... I don't know why I like this one more... maybe because it is now so hard to find... but I use what I have sparingly (that could also be why) to me this can be a signature sent... no question...I would wear this everyday (but my collection would feel neglected).. I save Naxos for very special occasions.. If you have a bottle of this and you are wanting to sell it... please DM me!!

The house of Mugler should reconsider their decision to discontinue this...

PrettyPerfectPatrice

1 I am so sad I am JUST finding out about this fragrance..
2. I am super sad they are discontinuing it... WHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Mina Abdo

Lovely tobacco fragrance. The tobacco is like a pipe tobacco. But still i hate the bottle.

Scentzilla

It opens with a strong cherry flavor, the same that you can get from candies, yogurts, hookah... Nothing special when you're at home, but outside, the cherry makes its path through all the scents to your nose and it's very pleasant as it contrasts with the gourmand scents of a Christmas market or with all the alcoholic / sweaty / cigarette scents and other people's fragrance in a night club

After one hour, a note of cacao, a little bit coffee-ish with a little hint of vanilla starts to appear. It's a warm and dark scent, very comforting and the cherry note from the opening makes it very sexy but you have to get close as the cacao doesn't project that much (unlike the cherry). It's very pleasant in a private place where you can enjoy it the nose on your clothes.

Then the cherry starts to fade off and from here, it becomes a skin scent (still very comforting and pleasant).

After some hours (4/5/6?) there's a really heavy and thick scent that I found vomiting the first times. Now it's ok but still unpleasant. However, it doesn't project that much and it lasts maybe for an hour, you won't even notice if your outside.

After those 3 steps, there's a good lingering smell of I don't know what that lasts forever on clothes

I give it a 9/10 for a night outside because I like the fact that it starts loud, sweet and make people notice you then starts to become more intimate, warm, serious. It's not a bad fragrance if you're considering blind buying it. Even if you don't like it, you won't hate it.

siUK

love this....my top 2 fragrance! A must have for every collection....honey, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco......smells so good i dont want to use it as cant replace now this has been discontinued.

Zizi518

Pure Havane is Pure Heaven. Be careful this fragrance will grow on you and make you addicted.

Pure Havane opens with a powerful combination of delicious honey and moist tobacco. What an exquisite combination. The sweetness is rich, warm, syrupy, thicccc and intoxicating. It composes of honey, vanilla, chocolate, which complements the tobacco wonderfully. The tobacco in here smells damp and earthy. I definitely get a hint of the infamous cherry note that's not listed, like a maraschino cherry as opposed to a fresh cherry. Of course the A*Men DNA is still there in the back. This is one of the best takes on the original A*Men. PH does what Animale and Cuba try to do but smells higher quality and more pleasant; I also feel similar vibes with Tobacco Vanille. Have not tried Insurrection II wild & Xerjoff Naxos unfortunately but heard they are supposed to be very similar. Sometimes I do find Pure Havane just a little bit synthetic (maybe it's the maraschino cherry note) but it doesn't really bother me at all. I do realize some of the descriptions seem somewhat unusual but trust me this is very easy to wear. A perfect heavenly scent for the fall and winter that will warm your soul with an unnecessary amount of delicious sweetness.

Really love this scent and if you're in to compliments, I've gotten quite a few while wearing this one. This is a very nice honied tobacco scent. Atomizer is trash, and this has become more and more difficult to obtain. If you can't get this, try Insurrection II Wild, as it's pretty similar and very cheap. If you have Mugler Pure Havane, then you really don't need to waste your time or money with Xerjoff Naxos (unless you just want to add it to your collection), as they're surprisingly similar (though Naxos does have some citrus notes in the opening).

Cherry cough syrup opening smells exactly like the medicine our parents shoved down our throats as children. As havane dries down that cherry note start to hide behind the pipe ♠️ Tobacco and sweet Vanilla. The gooey Honey comes out and really warms up the dry Tobacco making it feel complete. If you like the vibe of this scent but it’s to synthetic or screechy then get Naxos by Xerjoff.

MngoTango2021

I was VERY fortunate to score a freshly sealed 100ml bottle for $95 U.S.D. yesterday from a fellow enthusiast. I am wearing it tonight for the first time and it is absolutely beautiful. I have to give it a few extrq sprays, but I don't mind at all. It is now among my top tier of fragrances. Along with 1 Million Privé, my tobacco line is set for now.

Pabloco73

Just recently purchased a bottle ,Ijust love the smell of this not an everyday fragrance to use. Opens up with a scent somewhat like a cherry cough drop, but after an hour the tobacco smell kicks in and dominates can't stop smelling myself. It lasts on me a good 8-10 hours, and I've already had a couple of compliments. Wish it wasn't discontinued or id buy another bottle. Resale prices are going up on this one, got lucky and found one for under $70 keeping my eye out for another one. Be kind this is my first review...

Brili

Gatau kenapa di saya ini wanginya gaada cherry or honey, ada notes manis sedikit tapi saya masih blm nemu mirip2 honey maupun cherrynya (just vanilla and cacao).

EDIT:
Lupakan penilaian saya sebelumnya. WHAT A SCENT. Saya gapeduli gabisa nangkep notes honey and cherrynya. Blendingan notes tobbaco, cacao, and A*MEN DNA bener2 cakep, and yes rupanya saya team Pure Havane>Pure Malt. Interpretasi warna botol dan scentnya di otak saya ini bener2 on point. Ga bermaksud SARA tapi ini parfum cocok banget buat cowok indo kususnya yang berkulit sawo matang. Kenapa? Entahlah saya gabisa jelaskan tapi mungkin kalian paham.

Thierry Mugler's Magnum Opus

FirstSense

Yes, I know, Xerjoff Naxos is a better perfume like a far away nephew with a nobility title. But PH is a Mugler, the more naughty artistic eccentric family member. Maybe not as rich and nobel but very interesting and stylish in a particular way. I really like how the licorice patchouli based A-men DNA is blended with the honey, tobacco, cacao, vanilla, amber, styrax and labdanum. That gives PH that balsamic almost gourmand experience. The performance is very acceptable but not as good as the og. But that one was a beast, maybe even a bit too much. This PH edition settles very comfortable on the skin and projects 3 to 4 hours. It lasts for me about 6,7 hours. On clothes you can smell it the next day. For me this is a comfy fall, winter perfume and great for going out, clubbing and that kind of activity's. The price is very acceptable and the rubber A-men bottle is still terrible and make me feel very clumsy. There are all kind of rumors that this gem is gonna get discontinued because of the L’Oréal take over. That would be an unwise decision because the A-men frags are still very much loved and appreciated. Amen!

A fragrance sweeter than honey, and more mysterious than the mist of the night.
A legendary creation that was presented to lovers of sugary perfumes in 2011.
Designed by the almighty perfumer Jaco Hoclair, using his imagination to blend contrasts in a magical and exceptional way like never before..
When madness reaches Jaco, he mixes vanilla with tobacco with honey and cocoa.. all this is in perfect harmony and harmony.. he is definitely a genius..
The most beautiful sugary fragrances mixed with the luxury of tobacco and the attractiveness of honey and cocoa..
Pure Havana by Thierry Mugler for Men...A*Men Pure Havane Thierry Mugler..
The fragrance opens with two contradictions: honey and tobacco.
The heart of the fragrance is captivated by the attractiveness of cocoa and vanilla with a hint of patchouli..
As for the base, it is free of musk and sandalwood..it contains instead of styrax and amber with French libdenium..
Pure Havana I can't find a clear explanation for it other than that it is a voracious perfume for everything that is crazy and unfamiliar..
The bottle reflects the color of honey with tobacco and is decorated with the famous Angel logo..
I think and with personal diligence that the fragrance is winter and suits the cold weather of autumn and spring..
It is preferable to wear it in the evening period of the day..and it is suitable for closed and formal places..
Fohan Pure Havana is good and its stability is very excellent..Therefore it can be used on the skin without worrying

This is marketed to men, but is perfectly unisex. A wonderful, boozy, sweet tobacco scent. It's a very "chill" fragrance that I feel is perfect for having a drink at the bar or hanging out at a quaint cafe. Even lunch on a hotel balcony. Really pleasant with moderate longevity and projection.

sameenuk

This is sheer divine to wear. I turned 40 and this seemed so apt. I used to have these scented candles, jamaican sandalwood or something like that. This is what this evokes, a world away with a sweet and different scent. So refined and well performing, it is a gourmand tobacco scent. This is just one of my all time faves. I don't wear it for dates, for work or after a workout. I wear it for myself, for the sumptious pleasure. I feel like im sitting down in a wicker chair of a beachhouse listening to the sea wearing this. And it lasts for ages. I hope this nevre gets reformulated. This is a classic

Deanna81

I do like this and I see the huge similarities with Xerjoff Naxos. However the staying power and silage is definitely lacking. So I’ll pay the extra and stick with my Naxos.

Finally trying A*Men Pure Havane by Mugler again and actually paying attention!

I am enjoying this fragrance a lot today. Many have mentioned sweet cherries in other reviews, but I do not get that at all on my skin … UNTIL I step outside! Yes, for some reason when I left the house and stepped outside into the warm 80-degree air, I caught a whiff of cherries, and the tobacco rose up, and I was immediately reminded of that traditional sweet cherry pipe tobacco my grandfather smoked.

Inside, it started out on my skin as honey and vanilla. I actually almost avoided trying this one since I’m not a huge fan of honey as a note (yes, I’m glaring at you Back to Black: Aphrodisiac!). This honey was actually pleasant and quickly gave way to some smoky cacao about 10 minutes later.

Dry down on me continued to shift, sometimes I'd get a vanilla tobacco, then later cacao and patchouli and, as long as I was outside, the occasional cherry tobacco. Oddly, I also noticed that the sprays on my arms were MUCH more "resinous" with the vanilla, tobacco and cacao, whereas when I'd bury my face inside my t-shirt to smell my chest, it was almost always a very sweet tobacco with none of the resinous scent. I had used 2 sprays on each arm, 3 sprays on my neck/chest. Will have to experiment further to see if the “more sprays” equals more tobacco and less resin. I’m not thrilled with how that resin note pushes through sometimes (maybe it’s the labdanum since normally I enjoy amber and styrax?). There also is a hint of powder to me as well, which I like.

I was told by friends they could smell me a few feet away several hours after I put this on so apparently sillage is pretty intense, as is the lasting power since it was still going strong on my skin over 7 hours later. Got my 100 ml bottle on FragranceNet for about $120 which I felt was a fair price for this one! I am definitely enjoying this, and glad I have a bottle. I might would wear this to work if I only used 1 or maybe 2 sprays total, but I think more than that would be too much for me in an office. IMHO being out in a crowd like a bar or lounge is where this one would really shine, and once it settles lower to a skin scent would make for wonderful cuddling! I guess some women could pull this off as a unisex, but to my nose it is definitely heavy on the masculine.

I love the occasional surprise pop of the rich cacao that floats to the surface then drifts away to make room for that glorious tobacco, and when outside get the gift of cherry pipe tobacco! This one is a keeper! Glad I paid attention!

As always, your results may vary!

I commented on Naxos but forgot about this one. I may be in the minority but this outshines Naxos. I love it’s sweeter notes but don’t love it’s longevity. I got lucky and got this on a trade. It’s tobacco n honey are perfectly blended and I don’t ever find it cloying even in warmer spring and autumn days. If you can find a bottle I suggest scooping it up.

Gidimeister

This is absolutely stunning. It is a sweet tobacco fragrance which for my money is quite linear, but not in a disappointing way, given how absolutely heavenly the juice smell. It has none of the dirtiness you might expect from a burning cigar; no tar, no ash, no smoke. (Perhaps not surprising that I love this so much: I enjoy the smell of the inside of a tobacconist but absolutely hate the smell of a lit cigar or pipe.) And it is not offensively sweet. Think of a humidor draped with vanilla pods, that's the smell I get here. This is not the projection and sillage bomb we've come to expect from the typical A-Men fragrance, but it is no slouch either. Surprised no one has compared this yet to Valentino Uomo; it's got the same cacao dry down, but without the dirty woodiness of Uomo (a beautiful fragrance in its own right).

Last thing, some reviewers have offered explanations like 'bubblegum' or 'chocolate' to give a sense of what this smells like, and while that's not far from accurate, it needs to be stressed that there is nothing immature about this scent. It can just as easily be worn heavy for a night out on the town or light to the office. It is a very versatile formulation. Take this from a guy who does not go for sweet frags easily!

Finally time to pull this one out and start wearing it again!

This is a wonderful, honey tobacco that’s very, VERY easy to wear. Opens with a bit of the original DNA and quickly goes it’s own way. Tbh I do not like this for the first 60 seconds or so but it quickly settles down to a pleasant, slightly warm scent. A must have for tobacco lovers and those wanting to dip their toes in as well. Projects strong, lingers in the air, and lasts 7-8 hours for me. A shame they discontinued so many greats from the line.

I started with Insurrection Wild, which is decent, and stepped up to this as the price from Mugler was impossible to pass on. I sold the Insurrection as they were similar enough that I didn’t see the point to owning both.
However, I then bought a decent of Naxos…and let me tell you there is a glaring difference in quality between the three stages. The new price point for Pure Havane means when I run out, I will be upgrading to Xerjoff without question.
All are good, with the prices relative to the quality of fragrance your receive.

Darkstar _ Destroyer

I'm a little shocked and saddened that this has been discontinued. The buyout by L'Oreal led to reformulations and probably was the death knell for the Pure line.

Easy to wear, sweet tobacco with decent, not great performance. I'm going to have to go light on the sprays for this and my bottle of Pure Malt. Gotta make 'em last!

ellisosb

For me, this ends up a chocolaty patchouli scent in line with A*Men. Not a major departure from the core of the line, with the tobacco taking a supporting role and the honey relatively subtle. Nice scent, though.

Honey is used as food and healing and has many uses in our lives. Among those uses in the perfume industry, honey in perfumes is considered a warm and sweet note, with an earthy quality that makes it blend with amber, woods and vanilla notes “and adds sweetness and intensity to oriental floral fragrances and blends with hot flowers such as As orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and carnation, in addition to some components of rose, it can also be mixed well with spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and rarely honey 🍯 as a main ingredient in perfume, and for our love of honey 🍯 These are the most beautiful honey fragrances 🍯...👉🏼 Xerjoff- Naxos /Nectar Love /zoologistperfumes Bee /Black to Black /Scandal /California Rêverie /Nectarine Blossom & Honey /Slowdive / Honey Aoud /Chergui SERGE LUTENS /Pure Havane Mugler

Why this is unisex and even female is the dry down of this perfume equals the dry down own Alien Absolue Essence. So here’s your good review to get a sample or just the bottle.
Even if you won’t use it, it will be a fortune in the future since its discontinued.

Advaitaforever

I'm surprised by how many women wear this fragrance as the dirty patchouli characterises it as polarisingly masculine, in my opinion. Pure Havane is a playful and delicious scent with a bubblegum sweetness that makes it hard not to love. There is also a raw, delicious cherry tobacco accord that is soaked in a syrupy honey, so irresistible that it would make the subject just as addictive and leaves a charming impression. It plays better on skin because of how the sweetness emerges as the scent warms up. Altogether an amazing fragrance and its so regrettable that it's been discontinued. Loreal you ruin life.

BatemansFragrances

I've just made a discovery with the help of a Reddit user who has a 2012 Thierry Mugler cigar roll box version, and i have a 2019 Mugler version.

The ingredient information on the box is identical in both order and allergens, which would explain why my 19 is a beast, unlike my 19 A*men, which has an enormously different ingredient information list compared to my 2014 Thierry Mugler version of it.

I guess Pure Havane was never reformulated, because yeah to sell a product the allergen Ingredient info has to match the juice.

No point in buying the vintage Pure Havanes.

I have Naxos & PH and since it's the current fashion to compare the two side by side, here's my take:

PH smells more accessible than Naxos but not as refined. Now, to me, that's actually a good thing as I find myself wanting to wear something that has that sweet gourmand quality without the sophistication of Naxos. I love both of them but Naxos is definitely more limited and less versatile than PH in terms of it's vibe. Overall I would advise against comparing both of them because, while they share some similarities, they definitely don't wear the same on the skin.

Naxos:
Lavender is very prominent and it gives the tobacco a smoother nuance. I think this balance works extremely well (and probably accounts for the aforementioned sophistication) because it seems to balance the sweetness of the honey note with the tobacco, which gives this scent a very consistent wear throughout. I also don't pick up on the vanilla, but that's probably just because the honey is overpowering it as the key gourmand note.
Performance:
6-10 hours of longevity
3-4 hours of above average projection (about an arms length) and then it mostly becomes a skin scent with a noticeable bubble. Still very noticeable if someone is intimately near you.
2-3 sprays is usually enough for above average performance.
Throughout the wear the notes don't develop all that much but they do smooth out over time. Like all fragrances with a strong tobacco note, Naxos starts out as a bit overpowering for the first 15-30 minutes but then it smoothes out and remains stable for the rest of the wear. I've also observed that this juice has a kind of strange thickness to it--not sure if that's from how concentrated it is or if it's the quality of the ingredients.

A strong 9/10 for me but I wish it was more versatile.

PH:
Lighter and more playful than Naxos. I also detect a hint of lavender with PH but I'm not sure where it's coming from as it is not an official note. The tobacco in PH pairs beautifully with the cacao note and the vanilla gives it a bubblegum-like quality without coming off as immature. Unlike Naxos with how serious and regal it smells, I feel like PH is a more well rounded scent in terms of who can/should wear it.

Performance:
6-8 hours of longevity
2-3 hours of above average projection (about an arms length) and then it mostly becomes a skin scent. PH’s scent bubble doesn't seem to be as powerful as Naxos.
3-4 sprays for above average performance

Pure Havane has now been officially discontinued for a while but it pops up sometimes on Fragrancenet so be on the lookout if you want a bottle.

RustyPollo

There is a reason this fragrance has fallen from grace in the fragrance community and is now discontinued. I just hope the sudden love for wanting what you can’t ‘easily’ have doesn’t lead to people overpaying for a mediocre fragrance.

Yjinn

Coming from testing Naxos for a week, I instantly fell in love with this. I always hated the lavander note in Naxos and this here is just pure honeyed tobacco fragrance which I truly enjoy. It feels grounded (because there's no floral notes maybe) and not pretending to be anything else. Simply cozy and delicious.

smelly_man

Great fragrance!
This one and Pure Malt are some of the most liked from the series A men. And there is a good reason for that.
I have two brand new bottles for sale. If someone has an interest please send me a personal message.

reddishmango

First smelled this with the infamous cherry accord and was blown away. Amazing to say the least but that cherry accord didn’t last. Just a pretty good opener. I drug my feet on picking it up and when I finally did, it was nearing discontinuation. To my surprise formulation and brand management had changed. Now it’s just a pretty good sweet honey tobacco fragrance. Disappointed but not enough to sell it….yet

GajeepanLogeswaran

I regret not stocking up on this : ( . this brings back so much memories :).
Smells like WET DAMP CHERRY TOBACCO .Really THICC smell , like it has quality.
The version I had is the version of 2017.

Cristian7022

Heard its discontinued, and i remember like a year ago i would see a 3.4 of this thing at marshalls for 50 dollars and it was always there no one ever bought it and now i regret not buying it

Marzepam

Gourmand but one of the best its kind. Tobacco, vanilla, patchouli and amber. Warm and sweet. Similar to Burberry London in DNA but warmer, less pitchy. Pity got discontinued after L’Oreal got it in possession. You can wear it evenings and colder seasons. Very safe but different.

soroush_mgh

I just found out it’s been discontinued, so I had to purchase a backup bottle. The sad part is that I know it won’t last for the rest of my life…
I recommend you to secure your bottle of this fantastic fragrance, before every place runs out of stock.

Vikkinca

Pure Havane is an outstanding tobacco-forward fragrance, and I recommend it to all who enjoy sweet tobacco scents. Starts off medicinal but five minutes later it evolves into a luxurious, sweet, decadent tobacco. It's magic in a bottle. Full marks from me, and I am definitely getting a backup bottle.

I'm a Mugler A*Men stan from so far back in the day that the original fragrance was still called 'Angel Men' when I acquired my first bottle. I've liked, if not loved, every flanker Clarins pumped out (except Kryptomint, which smells like sweetened Vick's Vapo Rub to me), so imagine my surprise when I recently sampled my friend's (vintage) bottle of Pure Havane and found it quite unpalatable. Some unfortunate confluence of Pure Havane's ingredients recreates exactly the nasty soured maple syrup effect of poor quality TF Tobacco Vanille dupes. PH of course predates TV and its many dupes, but I have had the misfortune to experience PH after the TV dupes which are, for the most part, vile. The newer reformulation of PH fares somewhat better for being weaker and less sweet, but that is faint praise indeed. Pure Tonka, on the other hand is everything I could ever want from a dark, syrupy play on the A*Men DNA - intense, spicy, decadent, boozy - without the off-putting references.

FreshPrince

Fantastic fall fragrance. Unfortunately the rumours are true. I too contacted Mugler directly and I was told by a representative called Charlotte that the Pure line has been discontinued. Get them while you can before they end up on eBay at 4x retail.

CRiche

I got this for my husband. I find it to be very light. I thought I was buying the Thierry Mugler version but it was just MUGLER. Does anyone know if there’s a major difference between the two?

AaronT

Just got it and I am getting the notes of honey, cacao, vanilla, traces of patchouli and labdanum, (of course at this price point many of the notes will be synthetics) anyway, but the tobacco, I can't pick up - maybe it's a note a dry pipe tobacco sought of smell, rather a fresh note of tobacco but I think weirdly that instaed of tobacco im smelling the original a*men DNA in it's place, but except it's a good scent, maybe it's reformualted but, to those who are looking to buy these Mugler frgances (the flancers to A*men), of you catch them available buy, just buy them, because most of them are discontinued, and I'm speaking from over here in Europe I know it's a lot worst in the states with many fragrance brands. Anyway overall it's a good fargrance but because it has that a*men DNA, some may not like it, so try it. I wonder how xerjoff Naxos compares to it. Probably more denser.

mrs_pet1608

One of my favourite perfume to wear. Love the sweet sour honey taste with tobacco scent which not over powering. Definitely a must have gourmand fragrance for male.

Seuni

This will go up in price a lot soon. I've seen it already online with 2x the Sephora price.

In the opening it's a great cherry tobacco with patchouli giving it a fresh, somewhat minty freshness. The cherry vibe is similar to Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDP. The closer to the drydown the less cherry there is leaving tobacco and patchouli, while all the time until the fragrance dies it's sweet as hell. It's as so synthetic some people here say - it's honey and vanilla-ish, but it doesn't feel bad. It's just it's nature. I havent found cocoa anywhere though. This sweetness is really far away from this kind of synthetic mess you get from Joop! homme. It's not cloying unless you wear it 10°C+, absolute no-no for sunny weather. Nighttime, winter and autumn ot when it's chilly and not sunny. Amazing, the tobacco seems ok-!atural (but only if you've ever smelt sweet, cherry pipe tobacco in real life), patchouli completes the sweetness with something fresh and the cherry opening makes it fruity and gourmand. Lasts long, up to 12h, but after 5-6 there's not much tobacco left. Projects heavily for 3, more moderate up to 7

Stevienic85

I bought this along with pure malt.. Very disappointed.. Out of my whole collection I was the most disappointed with this than any other.. I got a good deal for the both of them £82 delivered.. When I first sprayed it on it was extremely syrupy.. Like synthetic sweetness.. No tobacco or character.. Just a sweet mess.. Tried about 5 wearing but had to sell it on.. Terrible. No longevity and weak projection.. There's much better out there and even some decent clone houses which offer better performance for much cheaper.. Pure malt was better but still not great

louis7391

It’s nice, although Mugler Pure Malt is still superior. I think tobacco Vanille by TF is more classy (but I can’t be bothered paying for it when I’ve got so many similar). Overall a good safe buy- soft tobacco and very sweet white honey.

evega21

I Finally was able to pick up a bottle from an offer up seller liquidating their collection. (And at a steal at that! 40 bucks!) and this stuff is eternal for me. Showered last night around 1130pm and it’s currently 2:54pm and I can still smell this on me as I work from home. Haven’t re-applied at all or nothing. The sweet sticky honey and the nice lush tobacco just make this so delicious. The amber and cocao also stand out at the dry down, but I can still smell the honey in this. Magnificent and beautiful scent ❤️ 🍯

pbreslin

This is sweet honey and tobacco in a bottle. It has a smoky crisp scent lingering as well. I have smelt different versions in the A*Men line, and this is hands down the best. I have pure malt as well and my girlfriend hates it, but it's also quite nice (boozy/rum sweetness).

With Pure Havane, the tobacco really offsets the sweetness perfectly. This is the perfect balance I like in which you don't feel like you smell like a cake or overly sweet. Really love this one and would recommend it for any tobacco advocate in a fragrance or if you want something sweet with a lot of character. In my opinion, this is suitable for colder nights or even summer nights. Not good in warm weather. This is undoubtedly one of the sexiest tobacco scents I have - plus this performs like a beast! I usually wear this at night events in a casual outfit. Bottle is from 2014.

Had a decant of this and pure malt. Amazing scent. Sweet honeyed tobacco that’s not overpowering. Good performance. If anyone has a bottle they are looking to unload please PM me. Thanks!

ambergeese

This is very nice. It's honey-sweet but not cloying, and the pyramid of sweet notes balances out the semi-fresh plantiness of the tobacco exquisitely. Sampling this now in July, I'm sure I'll like it even more in the winter, as this does read as a comforting winter scent, but I think it's absolutely wearable in summer too, and comforting all year round. I have no qualms about wearing this as a woman, either. This feels delightfully unisex, with the sweetness and tobacco easily going either way.

JasonsGirl

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE cologne, hands down! Now that I am finally with a man who enjoys wearing cologne, I can't buy this anymore! UGH!!!! I'm literally heartbroken over that fact!!!! (Honestly, I'd wear this myself! I'm a HUGE Angel fan, too.) I truly wish that they'd bring this back!!!!

Deepak Vashistha

I like it! It is sweet well rounded tobacco fragrance. I prefer this to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and as it has less prominent tobacco and also honey makes it smoother. It smells similar to Xerjoff Naxos but Naxos is far more superior and magnetic as hell. Naxos is my pick over this one as it is more complex and has a better opening with saffron and all going on, but this one also i really adore and would keep in my collection.

sac

Fantastic!!! Looking for back up bottles lolz.....Combination of honey and tobacco....If you use it in Summer time definitely it will not works for long time...Inside air condition room will differ surely....Right now I'm looking for all the sweet tobacco flankers lolz

Great99

I really want to give my 10 cents here, I put the purchase of this off forever. I feel the need to wrap up my collection and added some “Eleanor’s” that I honestly felt I did not need or want to pay the price for. So as Pure Havane became less and less available at discounters I pulled the trigger fearing it would be gone forever. I am glad I did, love the opening and that sweet tobacco along with honey. As this settled though it became familiar, it has the Mugler DNA that I find in Pure Malt, hunh? Then it had me going through the collection...WHERE ARE YOU ANIMALE ANIMALE! So it goes, spray them on the back of my hand and Animale has made me nose blind to pure Havane. I now know for certain that Animale has Mugler DNA in its core, it is not the same, or as good by any means but as the A*Men line potentially fades away that DNA will exist for as long as Animale Animale lingers in the bargain bin.

I can’t decide if I prefer Havane over Pure Malt, but it is really good. I have flagged this as similar to Animale, which is not a complete truth, they are not that similar only the Mugler core is shared and the tobacco is different. But I will advise that their is such a wide range of tobacco in scent, do not think this is similar to CK Shock, and certainly not Mancerra Red Tobacco, it has its own spin on tobacco and it is the star here. Have to wait for the cooler months to appreciate the full effect of this, my bottle seems rather beastly for sure, but the weather is warm here right now. No age group, this is pretty sweet but the tobacco spins it mature and youthful so open to anyone. I am not sure if woman would be drawn to this scent as tobacco can often be divisive, but I suspect people who like it will really enjoy it. Warning, do not overspray, this could easily be cloying in the wrong environment.

kameron

I have a sealed box of Pure Havane, also a Pure Malt if anyone in E.U. is interested.

Paddington

Very nice and sweet honey tobacco opening , from there all the good things end for me as it begins to dry down and the synthetic mess begins the rear its ugly head, thankfully the longevity isn't long so I didn't have to scrub it off, I give it an ok for pricing (before it gets any higher due to it being discontinued) and the opening , I can see it being someone first step into this area of perfumes (tobacco) and good in cold weather, however its not for me.

Wow! Just wow!!! I was looking forward to getting my hands on this perfume - and I was not disappointed. I am enjoying it. The honey and tobacco notes are easy to pick up. The scent makes you feel good and warm inside. A unique smell. Definitely for cooler days and nights.

I'll write another review after I've worn it for a while.

The unmistakable Mugler DNA is there, with a light sweetness of honey, vanilla and tobacco. Sillage isn't overly strong, but you'll still be enjoying it 6 or 7 hours later. It's a warm and masculine fragrance that seems well suited for cool days an nights.
Definitely worth grabbing a bottle while you still can.

RisingChaos

Gentle blend of tobacco and vanilla and honey, maybe a hint of cocoa. An earthy patchouli and sweet amber creep into a well-blended scent as it dries down. Sweet and pleasant on paper, but on skin it becomes almost sickly sweet. Compared to Xerjoff Naxos, of which I bought a sample of this to compare to Naxos in the first place, I get the similarity but Naxos smells more balanced on skin and adds a fresh citrus to the scent profile that elevates the entire composition.

Performance is mediocre, with ~3hr of weak projection and 6-8hr longevity. JTC 400 is actually my favorite in the honey-tobacco-vanilla "genre," though, neither Havane nor Naxos. Havane is okay for the price, though.

nip

Shout out to the guy who drizzled honey on his bottle for the picture.

rafsankhan

Right off the first spray, you will get a syrupy sweetness of honey which is followed by subtle wet tobacco accords. The mixture gives it a cherry note which is followed by the patchouli earthiness, a bit of vanilla and great cocoa notes. It's sweet, gourmand, bold yet soo beautiful of a fragrance. Great for cooler nights for dates with your better half. Highly recommended!

Batch 2016 with cursive Thierry Mugler on bottom (bottle):

First time to ever try/own a Mugler. So the excitement and expectations were UP there. My initial reaction? Honestly, I was not wowed (plus the sprayer was not the best). I smelled the tobacco/honey combo right away and it's weird to my nose. Like wet tobacco leaves and the honey has a somewhat pungent, damp, earthy smell. THEN the magic happened. After a few minutes of walking around, I started to smell something spectacularly pleasing and inviting, like a combination of my favorite perfumes — Guerlain Ideal Cologne (airiness/brightness), Guerlain Ideal EDP (cherry-ness), Spicebomb extreme (vanillic sweetness/spiciness), & Versace The Dreamer (wet tobacco). I also detect lavender although it's not listed from the note pyramid — Overall, a sublime union of distinct beautiful scents. I was in awe.

Performance: This lasted around 6-7 hours on my skin, and it's still pulsating through my shirt the following morning.

jarped

Blind bought this based on reviews and regretted it since. I have tried to "get" it, but to me it smells overwhelmingly synthetic. The general consensus around here is so massive that makes me wonder if I was unlucky and got a spoiled bottle.

Relegated to storage, hoping for it to some day prove me wrong.

Eaatwood

I have one of the newer batches and it’s still superb and easily one of my favorite designer fragrances. My wife hates tobacco and she really likes this. She has one of the keenest sense of smell I’ve ever witnessed on a person so the tobacco has to be well blended and of good quality for her to love this.

cazacu.serjio

It does what it says it does. Heavenly Cuban cherry cigar flavour. It's unreal how good it can smell.

Bear Claws

When it lists tobacco as a note it doesnt mean it has a stink of nicotine and cigarettes, rather its raw plant materials. I absolutely hate smell of cigarettes but this cologne has nothing to do with it.
Pure Havane is a delicious sweet honey smoky booze potion, its very comforting, somewhat tropic and exotic, very different from most typical mens fragrances you find today. Personally I dont get any strong cherry (or cherry cough syrup) in this at all - its blended very well. Glad was able to grab this gem while it was still available. No wonder many put this into their top 10 lists of all time.

datle1402

The tobacco in this fragrance is heavy. If you don't like heavy tobacco, this will not be for you. I personally not a smoker, so I have no interest in this fragrance.

Alexmate

Fragrance In Three Words: Boozy Cherry Tobacco.

I'm a massive fan of the original A*Men as well as Angel (woman). I had to try this flanker as I do enjoy boozy fragrances and baccy ones.

Starts off with what to me is cherry tobacco. It's not really a sweet candy cherry more like one which is blended in with the tobacco.

As it progresses the cherry fades and a boozy rum takes over. It doesn't smell like a bottle of rum to me it is more like rum cake.

The drydown for me was a really heavy vanilla and just a general sweetness.

Price in the UK is around £50 for a big bottle. Unfortunately it is much harder to get in the UK than the USA.

I think it is a banger. Really versatile. What puts me off is I think there are probably better tobacco fragrances out there albeit for more money. I'm also not sure how unique it is. That said I really enjoyed it especially the delicious opening.

Scores a nice 7.5 out of 10.

2ml decant from respected seller.

mike.ola

Yes it is a really nice frag however, there is little to NO projection/sillage on this frag. Maybe its my skin or nose...but i dont understand how everyone is calling this a beastmode performing fragrance🤷♂️.

Von Serj

I would say this perfume is in between designer and niche quality. It is ideal for cool wintertime, as for performance, even though I have the last batch with Mugler on the box, performance-wise it is still a long-lasting perfume.

HorlicksB4Bed

Mugler has stated the A*men Pure line has been discontinued, absolute DISGRACE!!
Shame on L'Oréal :(
Get them while you can, if you can find them!!

BatemansFragrances

2019 bottle and still actually quite beastly. Honey and chocolate deliciousness. Not much else to say.... When i wore it in the winter i was thinking it's kinda soft but now as weather is in the 60 -70s range, it opens up alot and goes LOUD. I put it on 7 hours ago ( 5 sprays around my neck from the terrible mugler sprayer, even took a nap, and now it is still pushing out ALOT after two bike rides and the gym. I don't have good skin either for longevity....

Heard a lot of high praise for it and after owning it I can vouch for it

Last a good 6 to 7 hours

Incredibly similar to the Naxos. But sweeter. Especially opening. Opening is a bit challenging. I spray it way before going out, and wait it to settle. If you have Naxos this is an absolute redundant.

Revolt1983

To me this smells like If Paco Rabanne 1 Million Lucky and CK Shock had a Baby and they called it Pure Havane( Also reminds me a little bit of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille) I finally got a hold of it after being absent from Fragrancenet for almost a Year.

I will Admit that the Quality of this is Not mind Blowing but is not Horrible either. And is a really Great Gormand Fragrance. Too bad that that Winter is almost over but I'll probably still wear it.

Last about 6 hours on my skin and projects for about an hour and a half. Don't do more than 4 sprays tho or you'll clear up a room. For some reason I felt like I needed more sprays until 30 mins later (did like 9 sprays lol)I started projecting honey, Chocolate , Tobacco and vanilla all Hardcore and my wife was like you smell delicious but next time maybe do less? You're giving me a headache.

I give this a Solid 9/10

Bought this fragrance for £50 for 100ml after reading all the reviews and I love it! A very familiar, warm and comforting fragrance that is extremely alluring. A fragrance worth trying out, the sweetness may put off some but I think it's superb.

neinmuses

a gorgeous scent unfortunately butchered by reformulations

I recently picked up a bottle (batch code #19301, manufactured October 28th, 2019), and was beyond excited to finally own it. I sprayed it in the crook of my elbow twice, as that's where I test my scents, and was delighted by the opening. sweet, warm tobacco and cacao jumped at me right away, and I couldn't have been happier. BEAUTIFUL blend. however, after bringing my nose to it every 20 minutes or so to catch the progression, I was stunned to find it was basically GONE in less than three hours. this never happens to me, especially not with denser frags. I decided to let the bottle sit for a few days before giving it another go. as you can guess, the same thing happened when I wore it again a week later.

I'm not looking for beast mode, but I'd at least like to be able to smell it on me. sold my bottle off right away in disappointment.

AlexandraTroush

I got my husband a 1ml sample to try, and DEAR LORD, I'm ready. Whatever's coming, I'm ready. I'll say yes to this all day every day. From a woman's perspective (though I can't speak for everybody, obviously), this is pure seduction.

To me it's a perfect sweet unisex. If he ends up not liking it I'll wear it myself and indulge in that sensual cloud. The beast that made this wants to bring chaos to earth, that's for sure. This is the kind of smell I imagine initiated -that- scene in "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer". Absolute sex bomb. Makes my knees weak. Haven't smelled something this delicious in "men's perfumery" in a very long time.

btw- I hated Pure Tonka (too much licorice) and Pure Malt (too medicinal).

InfinitEHorizoN

I have stayed away from buying this one for as long as I can remember!
Now, almost ten years later I bought a bottle and my pants dropped dead on the floor...like dead, absolutely no way of bringing it up 100%...
Ok, back to life, is it just me or it really smell like Chanel Allure Homme? Because I am a huge fan of Allure Homme and I have used few bottles in the past decade. No, really this Pure Havane by Mugler smells so similar just with a touch of vanilla and choco. It makes Pure Havane a winner of both worlds you get a serious contender in a bottle like Chanel Allure Homme with vanilla and chocolate vibe (maybe for that night where you need an extra punch ;)

One of the community's favorites! I can see the hype behind it! This a sticky sweet honey and cherry piped tobacco scent with a beautiful cacao, cinnamon notes. In the background there is the Amen dna with the patchouli, coffe, boozy effect and as the we go into the drydown becomes more prominent.

Performance is great, 8+ hours longevity with good projection. This is a fall and winter scent and better for night, on a date or going out. To me it's not appropriate for the office or small environments because it's very sweet and it could be cloying for some people.

Overall, one of the best designers and one that you should try if you like sweet fragrances. It's getting a lot harder to find these days. Is it discontinued?

Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havana EDT opens with a moderate projection of very sweet, gourmand, and tobacco notes. The opening is delicious, inviting, intense, and delectable. The tobacco, honey, and vanilla are the opening noticeable notes. The honey opens the fragrance with a very sweet, dense, and delightful note, it is closely followed by the tobacco note that initially isn’t as prominent as it will be later on. The tobacco is also intense, bold, this note is closer to the scent of black tobacco as opposed to blond tobacco. The fragrance moves to its dry down rather quickly, the initial moist sweetness of the honey changes to dry as the cacao, vanilla, and amber develop becoming notes closer to the tobacco and honey. The cacao is warm, spicy, dry, ambery, balsamic, gourmand, powdery, evocative of cacao powder; the amber is resinous sweet as well, warm, dry, and honeyed; the vanilla is noticeable but no intense, it seats a step behind the tobacco with a sweet, cozy, comforting, and aromatic accord. The cacao and amber significantly increase the initial projection of the fragrance, they also give the tobacco a bold and dark character making the fragrance feel dry. The patchouli, labdanum, and styrax are support notes, they add a light green, fruity resinous, and woody touch. The fragrance has a noticeable opening to dry down change, the opening is moist, the honey is vibrant, pure, and crisp; however, as the fragrance moves to its dry down, this crispness smooths out under the dryness of the cacao and amber, yet they don’t take over the sweetness of the honey. The last noticeable change is an increase of the initial projection which takes one step up to moderate to a strong. Once Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havana EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to a strong projection, very sweet, honey, vanilla, tobacco, cacao, and resinous amber fragrance with some green accords. The fragrance feels ambery, bold, casual comforting, delectable, dense, dry, elegant, exotic, expensive, high-quality, invigorating, inviting, masculine, modern, natural, nicely-blended, resinous, rich, sweet, warm, and very pleasant.

one of my fave fragrance all of time

Pure Havane is a charm fragrance, is sweet, spicy and woody.

It opens with a sweet honey and woods, this first minutes it feels intense the smell and gradually is down. On the drydown or base notes the smell has more vanilla, a little tobacco and some of chocolate. It feels some gourmand, althoug this phase it remembers to Opium Pour Homme too.

This fragrance is perfect for autumm or winter season, or for cold days, because is so warm. It has good longevity and its first hour projects strong.

The inconvenient now, is because is hard to find, I believe is discontinued and I just finished my last ml.

LOVE THIS COLOGNE. Smells amazing on my boyfriend. Pretty strong longevity and sillage for an EDT too. Sillage is between strong and enormous because as I'm typing this review my bf is about 8ft away and I can faintly smell it (2.5 sprays). Although it is powerful I think the scent wouldn't be considered offensive by most people, maybe only the most fragrance-sensitive people would ask you to go to another room lol.

Maybe I'm just obsessed with honey/tobacco/vanilla fragrances (on another note, this cologne is like a more versatile, male version of Velvet Teddy) but I think this cologne suits any time of day, and most times of year. Not so much a summer scent... but if you live in a colder or more moderate climate you could probably wear this year round! I hope they bring this back into production!

Nice tobacco mix with gourmand. It's better than Naxos imo. Naxos is too harsh too mature in opening very strong lavender and honey. But Pure Havane is smoother than in opening honey and cacao give delicious gourmand vibe then I get tobacco vanilla come in drydown. Longevity is good 7-8 hours but it's better in older batch original packaging (10+ hours) Pure Havane is one of the perfect choice that who like tobacco and gourmand like me.

Scent : 4.5/5
Longevity : 4/5 (5/5 for original packaging)
Sillage : 4/5

Mugler knows how it's done! This is such a rich gourmand scent: I think the cacao really compliments the tobacco and honey in a heavenly way. Not too sweet. I do not get any cherry!
4-5 sprays lasts me 8-9 hours. A good skin scent near the end. I just want to keep smelling myself!
I think this can be a summer scent; just easy on the sprays.

every man must have this parfum, trust me

so great

To me this smells like a more synthetic mix of layton and carlisle except less harsh with more vanilla in the opening and a tiny bit of honey. Nice, but nothing stand-out. At it's current price it's a no from me, there's not enough tobacco and it is quite synthetic. If it was around $100 USD it would be reasonable, but 170 is too much for this scent.

What an amazing scent this is!!!! I am going to admit the first 15 seconds of application wetness of the tobacco was a little sickening to my nose but then it turned into something very beautiful. The honey and tobacco create wonders to my nose with really good longevity. You just spray 5-6 times and do not even worry about the performance you are gonna smell great for the duration you want to smell good.I think it just suits winter nights the best both indoor and outdoor. And I mean specifically winter nights because I would go with something a little bit lighter for fall nights but that is my opinion. I would not wear this to work not because the sillage is monstrous or anything but because the character of the scent does not fit work environment but if you want to, go ahead by any means. Price is very good too, go get this one!!!!! I do not know if it is relevant but I think I should share my batch year since I do not want anyone to base their blind buy solely on my review and be disappointed. The batch code I have here tells me that it is from the year 2016. Watch out for new batches some people say the performance was lowered.

What a fantastic fragrance. Perfect for autumn and winter days when you want something comforting and sophisticated. It is sweet but with the lovely rounded honey and tobacco notes it does not come off as juvenile in any way.

Opens with strong honey and wet tobacco leaf smell, almost like moist rolling tobacco dipped in honey. Opening lasts about 30 mins

Mid: The vanilla and amber come to the fore. However it's not sickly sweet vanilla like in Issey Miyake Noir Ambre or Acqua di Parma Vaniglia as the tobacco continues to balance the sweetness out. This stage lasts 3-4 hours

The base is similar to the mid but the honey and tobacco are nearly gone and its now mainly vanilla and amber. In all the fragrance lasts about 6 hours on my skin.

This is a great fragrance with decent performance and good projection for the first 90 mins or so. I tend to wear this on a nice sunny winter/autumn day when I'm going for a walk or meeting friends. Comforting and inviting.

Top tip: Spray this on one wrist/side of the neck and spray Viktor and Rolf Spice Bomb on the other at the same time (not layered but adjacent). The combination of these two fragrances in the air is heavenly and better than either on their own. Absolutely fantastic combo and totally unique.

What a discovery!
Early afternoon I used lavender water aftershave. Now, a few hours later I applied pure havane for the evening (on neck area). Guess what? The lavender slowly came along to the top and played together with these dark notes, what a game, I love it. I wouldn't dare to layer such fragrance with lavender/mint fresh type of juice if not accidently. It works for me, I am mad about this. Crazy wow!
I checked out the "reminds me of" section, and the 2nd bottle is Nexos which has lavender note as I looked the discription. It made me extremely curious, shame that I can't afford it.

Pure Havane opens with a mixture of vanilla, cocoa and a touch of honey. Around half an hour later the patchouli joins the party. A little over an hour in the combination of the styrax floral notes, the amber sweet powdery note backed up by the French labdanum (a note that usually causes me problems but doesn't here) mix in with the sweetness. The perfume is a moderate projector for four hours before it settles to a skin scent which fades away into nothingness after about seven and a half hours.

I don't get all this hoopla about cherry tobacco and so I don't see where all the hype comes from. It's a nice perfume, warm, sweet, comforting, yes, but it isn't a world beater as far as I can make out. I suspect this review won't be getting too many balloons! Still, it's good enough to make me want to explore the A*Men line further.
