If you like oldfashioned hardcore intoxicating perfumes. If you think most perfumes lack umpf.
In case you like the bold daring perfumes from the 90-ies.

Then buy it NOW!!!

Deep rich dark. If you know what I mean. What a gem for this price.

Yes some rose but not much. I think I detect plum. Some orange?!? Champagne?!?
Very nice.

The scent, in case your skin “eats” perfume, needs a second spray after 1/2 hour but then it will last and last.
The next morning I can still notice it. Now it's a gentle nice scent.

This perfume bottle broke my sink! I dropped it, cracks in my bathroom sink but the bottle was completely unharmed.
This is a good quality perfume. Intense indeed. A very strong oud and rose perfume. One spray is enough. I only wear this in the winter time and when I spend the day outdoors.

Ferra_Verto

Dry and lightly screechy oud with a plummy rose, with a very present licorice accord. There's some caramel in there as well, but it's definitely in the background and provides a nice balance.
Projects very loudly, definitely an abrasive scent but it works so well in the cold weather. This is a nice foray into more 'adventurous' rose-ouds without veering too far left olfactorily.

I'm not sure about this one. I see all the positive reviews and want to like it but it's sharp and tough to wear and I'm getting a very "perfumes" smell that reminds me of the scents associated with my grandmothers generation. Going to set it aside and retry but this might need to find a home that can appreciate it more than mine.

At first, I also felt that this fellow is a bit aggressive, but I left my bottle aside, it was late spring anyway, and I tested this beauty again, yesterday.
It has depth, personality, the rose is not offensive, the oud is not offensive, but at the same time you can smell all the notes. Not fun of roses, but this one is so well blended, that I love even the rose cent! Love it.
It is not sweet, but dark, rich, deep and without being "heavy" or old fashion.
The quality is excellent, the performance is excellent ( put it on yesterday afternoon and still this morning can feel the aura around me!).
Bravo Maubussin!! and thank you!!

It's too screechy on my nose, even sniff it from the paper strip makes me cough idk
There's sweetness and rose but something sharp overshadow it, makes it impossible for me to wear. Too bad because the oud in it seems beautiful

Blind bought! Omg I love this, for a cheap fragrance this is bold, strong, intense for sure! The oud is not too strong which is nice. I really really like it a lot!! When I finish my bottle next one is on the table for sure! It sets so beautiful on me 🥰🥰🥰

Promise Me Intense blew me away, at first -- it smelled like a classic lipstick rose -- and I was sure I needed a bottle. I enjoy oud and, frankly, don't smell too much of what I think of as oud in this perfume, anyway. But I put my decant aside, for over a year, and began looking for a bottle. Once I found one, I decided to try my decant again, before purchasing, just to be sure, and lo and behold, it's just meh! to me now. I usually love soapy scents, but this one has a harsh Ivory soap soapiness that I don't love underneath the lipstick rose. Does oud come off that way, or could that be the litchi, which I also typically enjoy? I have no idea, but I no longer love or even like it enough to purchase. I put on Armaf Club de Nuit Intense, to compare, and PMI does slightly resemble it, but the Armaf is both smoother and more complex and has a very nice, bracing vetiver note underneath (I think it's vetiver?) that keeps it from becoming cloyingly heavy and sweet. If you're searching for a dark, lipsticky rose, Club de Nuit Intense is a better bet, I think.

cosmeto fee

very strong, screechy and aggressive oud. I'm not gonna wear that, sorry! Smells like a wet leather jacket.

Horrible, makes me feel like vomiting. Such a vile smell. I bought 2 Mauboussins after reading reviews and I need to gift them as they are vile. I don't know how people can like this, smells plasticky and vile.

LaContessina

A nice find. Blind bought a bottle (90ml for 20 euros, a steal) and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice oud-rose combination as many others have noted, could be similar to the many Montales and Manceras however it manages to be different because of the fruity side.
The litchi has a fresh but plummy sort of feature that makes it lively and not too serious.
Joyfully feminine I would say, without the formality of a classic aoud. No smokiness, no incense, not very Middle Eastern oud.
The oud here is "clean" and dry like drywood, the same sort of clean oud I found in Versace Oud Oriental. (Both have the same identical drydown).
Not extremely sexy but rather well behaved and politely feminine.
I prefer my ouds a bit dirtier.

I think i will wear it in winter, easy to wear for oud beginners. For me it's a like but not a real love. (Rose d'Arabie is way better by the way).
Bottle is stunning and would make a very distinguished gift.

Incredibly wonderful dark, rich rose with woody notes and little bit of sweet fruit. Oud isn't pissy, just smell like dry wood. Perfume is clearly on feminine side for me. Very nice smooth combination and it´s better, than lot of oud rose combos I know. Longevity and sillage are perfect. Must have for rose lovers.

I leapt out of bed at o'crack sparrow this morning to check track and trace on delivery of this and today was THE day! Yanked it out of the poor postman's hands and sat and waited, patiently - I'm lying, I was impatient as all hell, drank three cups of coffee, cleaned the bathroom (yeah...but needed chores to keep me occupied) and sat and looked at the box. I waited an hour-ish.
But this is a beauty. A gem thats hiding its light under a bushel. And now its in my greedy little monkey hands and I'm totally in love.
@Jacquis, @Deetron, in fact almost all of the reviews here are spot on and I couldnt do this fragrance any more justice even if I tried. A blind buy based on these guys reviews so as always I'm eternally grateful for your descriptions - a huge love for the reviewers and an even bigger love for this fragrance!

Rose Jam,
lasting
very nice oud (aimed at western users).

Almost love.

In case you are into new gourmand fragrances it will not be for you.
In case you are into western oud it is worth a blind buy.
Unisex indeed.
I am initially a vtg chypre lover, but this is potent enough for half of a workday.

Jacquis

Did I need one more Rose/Oud? Not really. Curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't resist getting this gem. Mauboussin Promise Me Intense is gorgeous. The oud is right up front but this does not feel like a completely heavy perfume. There is some brightness. Feels a bit dry as well. I do not get Oud Bouquet from this. Not sweet, no caramel/praline.

The longevity and sillage are amazing. Promise Me Intense could easily be worn on summer evenings as well. Reminds me of Wisal Dhahab Ajmal. Not the same of course. Amazing value with the current prices available on the general market. Could easily replace most of my oud perfumes. Very nice collection from Mauboussin. The bottle is attractive with that padlock presentation however, very awkward to spray. Ends up streaming out because it is so awkward to press the spray. Otherwise, a great find.

Intense you are indeed, Promise me!

While the notes are limited (litchi, rose, oud) the scent is full and creamy. A warm and heady brew reminiscent of licorice (which I cannot stand very well but works wonders here), dark rum, slightly bitter caramel, warm wood and dirty rose.

This is not for the faint of heart. It is bold. The sillage is sufficient and the lasting is long. Btw very unisex. I would like it very much on a man too. Added bonus: no incense/smoke notes in this one, which sets it off from more traditional male mélanges of the heavier kind. And in a stunning bottle too!

If you want to feel like sitting on a wooden porch in Indochina after a monsoon rain and with a liquor by your side: this is your scent track. If you want to feel like sipping old rum in a wooden paneled library with a tartan throw over your knees and half eaten crème brulée on your side table: Promise Me Intense will do the same. And I don't even drink.

Beautiful!

Forbiddenjade

Nice, but too oudy.
The lychee is not prominent, here all that can be perceived is a somewhat softened oud, yet just that.

It is not super sharp, though in the cold a bit of metallic is present. Perhaps hotter days will help this concoction which I can say is rather agreeable if you like intense woody notes (well, the name warned of this!).
Still too Easterner than Westerner for my taste, it's on that exotic, dry vibe (not exceedingly dry, but dry nonetheless) which doesn't particularly fulfil my personal favour in scents.

Sillage very soft (won't project at arm length) but longevity remarkable.

The bottle is just AMAZING. Honestly, it's beautiful, sturdy and lovely to look at. Ain't looking for a bottle to adorn my shelves with though, so will wait for hotter days, test again and then sell off if nothing changes.

I would give this a sound 7/10 - considering the quality overall, of ingredients and packaging. Luxurious and definitely a must have - IMHO - for anyone loving oud.

Well done.

Deetron

I can only agree with other opinions here - this is an amazing wearable Oriental rose!
On my skin, Promise Me Intense is very dense, juicy, rich, friendly jammy rose with lovely support of soft and creamy woody notes. Nothing skanky or hard to wear - this is very luxurious and polished fragrance!
Many people would say - "oh no! another rose-oud combo", but it's not! There are some tropical notes that are perfectly put and they give very different approach of the whole composition. It's still juicy, inviting and complex with full body, but at the same time it's still sexy, playful and carrying young spirit.
I can't explain it correctly, but imagine a fantasy mix of nice modern jammy rose-wood combo mixed with some fresh-fruity tropical cocktail... These tropical-fruity notes makes it more western type of scent and I'm sure many would love to test this new type of jammy rose.
The performance on my skin is very good.
Final words - Mauboussin did it again! After the amazing and again very different Cristal Oud, now Promise Me Intense impressed me with high quality!

Nice perfume that suits men and women. Reminisce of Montale Black Aoud which is also a strong character perfume.

Im comfortable with its smell as it wraps me warmly and easy. Quite strong and oudy sometimes (but not listed), yet smells rich dark and mysterious. The rose note is dominant which i detect all the times, but with a touch of woody sense in the background.

Pleasant composition that compliments the wearer especially during winter or night time. The name intense is right.

Carlitos

Unisex wearable oriental oud/rose perfume with a tropical fruity hint! Recomended!

carlosalbertoandradecruz

Very nice perfume indeed.
I bought it for my wife and had a nice surprise of judging it unisex.

Limeylizzie

As the others have said, this is a hard fragrance to describe. It's very warm and sweet with the black rose showing up about 10 minutes after spraying and then it gets more complex. I've tried most of the Mauboussins and my favourite is the original, but I think, for me, this is a close second, it's a more everyday fragrance than the original, less of a wow factor, but that doesn't make it any less lovely.

petravesna

Glowing amber

Sweetish dry woody smell in the family of santalwood, frankincense, myrrh and yet it resembles none of these. It's very comforting, it's got big persona and I love the residual smell in my clothes but it's not an everyday fragrance. It's more an winter evening smell. The projection is fine and the longevity is quite good but it does vanish rather abruptly after 5-6 hours.
