A fruity perfume for people who don't like fruity perfumes. Well-balanced by floral and woodsy/mossy notes to be a solid choice for professionals who want something more distinctive than a Chanel number.

Side note: I don't particularly care for Montale bottles--they don't hold up well over time. If this was a fragrance I wore more often, that might not be a problem, but I have to be a mood to wear fruits, and that mood doesn't happen very often. This bottle has gotten oddly rusty around the top, making me worried the perfume has gone off. It hasn't, but it's an unappealing eyesore amidst the gleaming bottles from other houses.

I made the mistake of blind-buying this one. The opening is so bizarre to my nose that I thought my bottle had gone bad. It smells like a cross between burnt plastic, rotten fruit and straight up perfume that's gone bad. Thankfully, the opening only lasts about 15 minutes. Once that initial monstrosity of a scent disappears, it's pleasant and wearable but nothing to write home about.

This parfume is a beast longevity and sillage wise. I sprayed generously on my hair and still, after 3th time wash I could easily detect it while drying up my hair .Warm ,cosy and wholesome fragrance. Powdery and musky in sexy and pleasant way. This one and Instant Crush by Mancera are my Europe Winter favorits

The opening sweet tropical fruit scents are hard to distinguish from one another, making for a pleasant accord but a somewhat unremarkable one. The top reminded me of nothing so much as the smell of Juicy Fruit gum, although it's more natural than that, and there's more depth. The drydown is more interesting, because the smell of tropical fruits blends nicely with the patchouli, musk, and oakmoss. There's some powderiness in here, but it's not dominant.

This would have worked better for me if one of the fruit notes had dominated more than the others. As it is, I can't imagine anyone really objecting to this, but I also have a hard time picturing someone actively seeking this fragrance out.

Other people are way better at scent break down than me. So, this is an average person's review. This is definitely a Chypre perfume (duh). The oakmoss gives me a touch of chloe nomade vibes. They don't smell the same, just the oakmoss vibe is similar. This smells more grown up, fruity, green and musky. I really enjoy it. I live where its well into the 100s in the summer and this does amazing. It's hard to find perfume in such high heat. I'm 37 and I feel like this is very appropriate for my age. Very grown woman perfume. Not old smelling, just grown and beautiful.

I really like this oak mossy, woody fruitiness and it does last. I do wish it was as strong of some of the strongest Montales, but unfortunately it isn't. It has none of that weird burnt rubber notes that some Montales have and it's not too sweet. The jasmin in it is beautiful and classy, the patchouli clean and inoffensive. Quite nice perfume, attractive.

Ries

Special one, opens a bit sharp with citrus and bergamot, dries down quickly to a mainly powdery musky scent with some flower, mainly jasmine hardly rose. Becomes a skin scent quickly, short longevity (but that's mainly my problematic skin causing it, will probably be moderate on most people). Nice but not remarkable.

Diari

I like it best around 2 hours after spraying. There is a lovely combo of musk and white florals under a veil of unnaturally sour fruit and burnt plastic. Maybe burnt plastic fruit?

Montale Chypre Fruite EDP opens with a moderate projection of fruity, citrus, floral, and powdery accords. The opening is fresh, tropical, delectable, and pleasant. The tropical fruits, white floral, and powdery notes are the opening most noticeable notes. The tropical fruits are a note evocative of sweet fruits, they don’t resemble a particular fruit but the scent of many different types; the bergamot is noticeable, sharp, citrusy, sour, it works well enhancing the fruity notes. The jasmine seats very close to the fruity notes, a white floral, aromatic, and fresh accord. The opening has a noticeable powdery accord resulting from the early development of the musk, this note very similar to white musk, fresh, projecting, very powdery, with a lemony touch. The oakmoss and patchouli are support notes. The fragrance is linear, all notes come up as soon as they are applied and continue into the dry-down, the only noticeable change is the growth and development of the powdery note which, although noticeable during the opening, intensifies once the fragrance has reached its dry down. Once Montale Chypre Fruite EDP has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, powdery, sweet, fruity, citrus, bergamot, and white floral fragrance with soft woody and green accords. The fragrance feels airy, clean, delicate, elegant, fine, white floral, fragrant, fresh, fruity, high-quality, mature, modern, very powdery, sharp, sour, sweet, unisex, white, slightly woody, zesty, and pleasant.

Nothing about the note breakdown or anything like that, but an absolutely true story. It's 11:30 PM now, the night before the 4th of July, and 10 minutes ago sprayed this for the first time and was very disappointed because it smells very synthetic and dulled. Started working downstairs at my desk at home to finish up the day. My wife whispered from upstairs because the kids are sleeping, "did you buy me flowers? I love the smell!!". No, I did not buy you flowers. I ran upstairs to let her smell my arms. And yes, it is this Montale Chypre Fruite that she smelt. The small fan on my desk actually blew the scent up the stairs. What is so special about this is she has smelt hundreds of my fragrance and this was only the 2nd or 3rd ones that she reaches out to tell me that it smells good.

Side note, it is her birthday tomorrow and she really thought I bought her flowers and hiding it downstairs. I did not buy her flowers this year.

AndySmellsGreat

Really? I just don’t get the en mass reviews sometimes.

I own a couple of Montale but even they are well below par for most perfumes in projection and Sillage especially versus cost. I guess I just don’t roll with marketing and hype.

Anyway scored a few bottles and felt this might be a goer but... nah...

Typical Montale - sorry.

Maybe a subtle apple peel on classic cheap Montale rose base. Five minutes in the drydown it is barely detectable - I’m face palming right now - never again Montale never lol

I also bought Spice and Woods - and - yep - same. At least Lime Aromatic is a keeper.

So many people don't understand that Chypre is a genre in the scent world, not an old-fashioned composition...
All in one this one here is pretty good and modern and a special Chypre. Oakmoss and green notes are strong in the beginning, later come the fruit notes and flower on the stage, it dries down to a patchouli-citrus-jasmine, very intensive and long-lasting. I like it!

dsty

I agree with some other reviewers that this one's rather generic, but not in a bad way - it smells nicely "perfumey", for lack of a better word, which I guess is where the "chypre" part of the name comes in: in my head, that's the category of scents that smells more like perfume than any other perfume. And as for the "fruité" part, that's very clear: the opening is super fruity. But it's fruity in a none-specific, soft way, very luxurious, mixed with jasmine. As it dries down, a similarly gentle kind of oakmoss becomes dominant, underpinned by quiet, dusty musk and patchouli.
All in all it's quite an oldfashioned scent, comfortably feminine. I like it, but that's as far as it goes for me personally - so I'll leave my sample behind with fond memories but no regrets.

One of the best dry-down fragrances in my collection…

Montale’s Chypre Fruite is a beautiful blend of floral and fruity notes. This fragrance is unique – soft and floral that initially leans toward feminine lines, yet a dry down that somehow, and magically, pulls it back to the “middle of the road” and safe to be worn by both sexes. This fragrance could very well be the best dry down in my growing collection – given the appearance of the musk and patchouli notes, it morphs into a pleasant fragrance and is truly spectacular.

As with most fragrances in the Montale line, performance is spectacular – lasting 7+ hours on me and even longer on clothing. Projection is slightly beyond arm’s length distance. Given the DNA makeup of Chypre Fruite, I would suggest spring and/or summer wear with occasional wear on those crisp early fall days with plenty of sunshine (just like today in South Carolina). Chrpre Fruite will be a crowd pleaser and compliment magnet that will generally be appropriate for any event, but use caution in “close quarter” settings – the Montale line can be “loud” in the beginning… One additional note about Montale fragrances – the presentation is extraordinary. The bottles (or perhaps canisters would be a better description) are like nothing else in my collection – light as if they are filled with only air… The safety clip is also signature Montale. Well done…

My final tally of Montale’s Chypre Fruite is 4.4 stars out of 5 stars with a solid love for the Fragrantica community. The only thing separating this fragrance and being a Top 5 performer is the limited wear of softer fragrances. If you enjoy softer lines with great performance, I highly recommend adding Chypre Fruite to your collection. I also recommend to the avid collector adding this fragrance to your stable – the dry down is amazing and the fragrance is unique to attract the compliments. Great fragrance..!!

Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting…

I loved the scent on paper. As soon as I put it on my skin I had rush on my skin and I started sneezing. I must be allergic to an ingredient in it. I had to wash it off. But even after that the scent was still present so the longevity must be good! I will give it another try, perhaps it works next time.

PricklyAndHot

Where is chypre?! I just want to call it "light fruity something". Not the best by Montale(

Before_Sunrise

Oh my! This is sooo beautiful and smells wonderful on my skin :) I feel truly grateful to have a half full bottle on my collection to enjoy.
Chypre Fruite has a unique feeling extremely close to my personatily that makes me feel elegant, sophisticated and a bit distant.. mysterious and adventurous.. yeap that's me :)
There's something so unique and complicated about this perfume that it manages to capture the attention of people around you, because it feels so tasteful and refined without being harsh or too much on your face. The first time I decided to wear Chypre Fruite a woman reached at to me to ask what was my perfume :)
I love love love it!!

Noble fruit. Shining light of the old castle gardens. Trees covered with MOSS. Bubble tea cocktail. Beautiful scene of the beautiful afternoon. Chypre fruit for adults.

Cheers to the beauty of Montale.

mister_chaz

An understated beauty from Montale! It's a nice smokey wood with a touch of fruit; it's floral with a bit of musk and a hint of citrus. None of those disastrously sweet chemical fruit or plastic cool-aid stuff. Very well-blended, fizzy fruit scent, yet it's grown up and expensive-smelling. Well done!

alberto1964

Generic, here is the word that springs to mind. I can not find anything particularly interesting in this scent, even tropical fruits are just a distant memory after 1-2 hours. It 's all faded away from the standards of Montale.

esteban747

Now we are talking, Montale.
Finally, after two serious fiascos with this company (Ginger Musk and Fruits of the Musk), I tried Chypre Fruite.
This is a delight, like a light cocktail of tropical fruits mixed with roses and jasmine.
Is a very feminine scent, yet one that I love to smell. If the floral was not so obvious, this would be a great unexpected fragrance for men, but as in many fragrances, the jasmine is hard to tame and it takes over the whole composition.
The opening is delicious, a real treasure.

Jwaks

A banquet of exotic fruits awaits, black currant hints of papaya and banana peel tip toe around strong, semi-smooth florals. Dominant jasmine takes the lead with support from gentle pink rose and dry green moss. Fruits struggle to take leading role heading into the the dry mossy finish but it's hardly enough to call this 'fruite' given the not so tropical fruits are a bit dry, lackluster and boring. Maybe my sample is old...I was looking forward to a big, bold tropical fruit opening with a traditional chypre drydown. And this is a half hearted effort at best. Montale is very hit or miss especially any scents outside their typical oud/wood/rose combos. Projection sillage and longevity are all worthy of the montale name.

Score 5/10

OlfractalInfemme

I definitely get the chypre base. Black currant, pine, similar to Enchanted Forest without the minty element. A bit pungent and masculine for me.

Cereza

Funny, but this very far from being a chypre. As we all know, everything is about the skin chemistry, that is what I keep telling myself after reading so many reviews saying that this is an adult fruity chypre. On me it is not.
Let me tell you what do I get out of this. The first blast with bowl of sweet tropical fruits, it resembles some kind of drugstore shampoo at the opening as the fruits are kinda soapy-sweet. I do not get any "chypre" notes. What else do I get - I get jasmine, loads of it which simply sweetens the deal and makes this climb more away from something I could enjoy. As for oakmoss which seems to be pretty noticeable for everyone else - I get none. The same with patchouli and rose. Nothing.

A big bowl of tropical "shampoo fruits" with loads of jasmine tossed inside. Floral fruity. And not the best kind.

kosmoskukka

Hello,
I do not know about the CK Chock, but this Montale is extremely beautifull, very chic like I was told about, fresh, yammy, a bit sweet (not too much), hmm modern Chypre I would say, if You have been a bit wondering those old classical perfumes to be too much and still want to get to know on Chypre notes, this might be good where to start. I love all those old schoolish gems, this is modern. Wondering when weather dries very much here at hard winter time, this might be very "white" kinda scent, perfect for white snowy days.. I almost guess tropical notes are not dominent those days but chypre yess, maby at warm weather tropical notes comes out better. This is very interesting and definitely is something I want to have.

AveParfum

I don't see any resemblance between this and CK Shock whatsoever.

While Chypre-Fruite is definitely fruity, I would not consider it to be tropical, and definitely no berries. The non-specific "fruits" are the star of the perfume. If there is any moss to be found, well, I haven't found it. I was hoping for more of a classic chypre accord, something I thought Montale might do well, but if the word "chypre" wasn't in the name of the perfume, I would not consider this to be a chypre at all.

Even when a perfume doesn't live up to my expectations, I could still love it for what it is. Sadly, this perfume gets no love. It's too light, too bland, something on par with Britney Spears' or J-Lo. I believe this is my first Montale 'dislike'.

Yesterday i have tried at least 7 fragrances by Montale an this one the only one i really loved. It is a sweet-fizzy chypre, but not over-the top sweet like "Yvresse", no. Very delicate and later i figured out that it resembles CK "One shock for her" very very much!!! There is a bit of citrus, light flowers, watery notes and just a drop of chypre note. Perfect! I do enjoy it the second day in the row, since the staying power on my blouse is amazing! Every time i smell it i keep on wondering, what smell so good around here? Oh yes, it´s me! :)

vertigo

The name matches this scent perfectly.
This is a genuine chypre fruity!
Top notes reminded me a bit of Miss Dior Cherie. The other parts remind me of Sublime Balkiss.

But this one has a more 'adult' attitude: it's not that sweet and has a special - cold, crystal-clear - quality.
A transparent, mature fruity scent.
Very feminine.
I don't get any separate fruit notes, just a light moist accord.
And a suave garden rose.
Pretty! But not my cup of tea :)

tessture

Almost a dry, adult fruit scent. A good antidote to the fruity sweet department store types out there.

mocha43

I got a sample from Lucky Scent and have tried it 3 or 4 times now. On me this is very soft and gentle but has no WOW factor. It lasts 3 or 4 hours on me. It is pretty but I would not invest in a bottle of it for myself. I'm really glad that I have samples because it is an inexpensive way to choose perfumes that are really good on you over perfumes that are nice but not for you.

levissima

nice but i dıdn't feel any fruits....
at night in the open air a smoky note comes out.....
longlasting and sits close to the skin...
but for me - not the one to buy...
