Vain & Naïve by Nishane is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Vain & Naïve was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Chris Maurice. Top notes are Orange and Bergamot; middle notes are Raspberry, Plum, Rose, Jasmine and Cedar; base notes are Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk, Amber, Patchouli and Benzoin.

"This scent has been considered to be a tribute to the each “unique love” ever experienced on earth by the creative directors Murat Katran and Mert Guzel. In the novella we see that the prince’s love for his flower causes him much pain and heartbreak. The flower grows from a strange seed that somehow lands up on the prince’s planet. The first thing we learn about her is that she is beautiful. “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” NISHANE’s objective has been to bring the smell of this flower that Little Prince is love with into reality. To be able to bring into existence this coquettish flower that has trouble expressing her love for the little prince and consequently drives him away, NISHANE had to refer to varying notes to underline the mood that is simultaneously vain and naïve. The flower informs the little prince of her love for him too late to persuade him to stay home and not to travel. Throughout the story, she occupies the prince’s thoughts and heart." - a note from the brand.

Cute, girly, playful, vain&naive indeed :)
sweet, juicy, fruity-floral opening and a pretty, soft but sweet drydown

Babyboonme

I absolutely hate florals but this is so pretty. Soft creamy and woody. I think a lot of these reviews are from people who didn't smell it change all the way to the drydown it's sexy and elegant!

AnastasiaGostieva

It’s quite a strange scent. I feel some juicy fruits and citruses (quite sour ones) along with powdery (almost lactonic) florals and a bit of sweet musky and wood base (something like praline, but not super sweet). Also with a touch of soapy notes. It’s very hard to come up with the final thoughts. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either..

This opens like a saccharine, "teenage girl's" perfume (for want of a much less loaded expression), but constantly morphs In and out of various genres, before setting on a sort of musky, cashmeran dry down, not a million miles away from B-612, by design I guess.

It's good, and interesting, but it's not something I'd really consider putting into my rotation. I'm not sure who this would suit (not that it matters), as it gets pretty serious and plummy, and the musky base gets almost murky, rubbery and/or plasticky, so all in all it's not very vain or naive, it would take a self-assured person to pull it off.

Still, it's a welcome change from Chris Maurice's constant production line of slightly tweaked, sickly "oud" scents, which I found interesting, then tedious, and now ignorable.

Alabama13

At one point I really loved this fragrance. Somehow things shifted and now it makes me nauseous. The longevity is eternal and you’ll have to scrub away. Now I only get a very earthy plum and patchouli and none of the sweetness. Plan to get rid of it soon. I wouldn’t as a safe blind buy.

aabisogun

I surprised myself.
I had resisted this fragrance for so long because of its floral, powdery and feminine notes.
Noting in all the reviews and descriptions appealed to me. Then I saw that it was on sale, and decided to take the plunge, simply because it is from the house of Nishane. They have a few underwhelming fragrances, but for the most part, their offerings have been superb!
Anyway, back to V&N, as predicted, the opening was floral and sweet and powdery as described - all of putting for me. But then I did not find it too overwhelming.
The scent lasts for about 5 hours, so a little goes a long way. Apply sparingly. This scent definitely leans more feminine, but you can easily layer it with an earthy animalic fragrance such as Afrika Olifant, Suede & Safran or, better still, Unatamam, which tones down the sweetness and makes it perfect. I do not think I will wear it on its own.
Its longevity is not impressive though. I wish it lasted longer.

I have a brand new bottle to offer for half price with receipt! I have expected something else so please contact me. Shipping in Europe.

Esna

Regarding some of the reviews, I don’t know why some people were expecting extreme elaborate niche uniqueness and polarizing sillage here. I think that since it’s an ode to the book “El Principito 📖🪐”, it’s probably meant to be polite, demure but still subtly entrancing. The book is about coming out of age and reflexión… and that can happen ironically at any age so this scent transcends all ages in my opinion and gives the simple correlation that “what is essential is invisible to the eye”. Considering the books connotations, I think the scent inspiration is on par and suffice.

I really really loved it and on me it was similar to Xerjoff’s La Capitale but less syrupy and closer to the skin that lasted all day long.

MrsKhaos

I was really disappointed in this one. It sat so close to my skin I only smell it with my nose pressed against my wrist. And I don't get any of the notes listed, to me it just smelled like dryer sheets or clean laundry. My husband couldn't smell it all all.

Amy80

This is actually very unique with some depth in the drydown. I have Hundred Silent Ways and think this is much more interesting. It layers beautifully with Ani too. Good projection and longevity.

Farrque

Vodka, raspberries and a cold metallic note. That's it for me. Harsh and loud, like a very poorly mixed cocktail.
After a short while, I can swear I feel the faintest hint of castoreum in here.
Not up to Nishane's standard, to say the least.

Semenelin1

Got this for my mom and smells very good

Tulufik

This smell so cheap, absolutely not niche or high end quality perfume. Longevity is good, sillage too you can compare it to a Victoria secret mist

Tasherapd

The Virgin Island Water comparison is way off. Absolutely no comparison. The only note in common is bergamot. This is fruity, sweet and basic. There’s not much to say about it. This doesn’t smell niche at all.

Melmangia

I’m not seeing many comments about the patchouli note, but its composition is SO similar to CoCoM to me. If you like that one i think you’ll like this (though this one is sweeter). I’ve tried hard to like CoCoM, but never could, so this is a pass for me.

emgailba

Maybe I've smelled too many samples today, maybe I'm just grumpy--but this is not a scent I would expect from Nishane. On my skin, this is thin, watery, and forgettable. A perfectly pleasant, sort of generic, cheap-smelling fragrance that I don't care to think about any longer. Scrubber for me.

Sampled in July south Texas weather.

Moeytja

I loooove this scent!! Back up bottle and signature scent worthy! I wish they made this in 100ml. Amazing clean fruity scent

aleksandra3

I layer it on top of Hundred silent ways, and I love the combo. It becomes a complex beast!

Nocciola23

I received a sample of this and, in having read the comments from others and seen the notes on here before trying, I wasn't super excited BUT - I really like it.

To me, this isn't sweet/fruity in the way that I expected it to be (like a celebrity fragrance). It is so much more than that. It is very deep and has an almost smokiness to it that isn't listed on the notes, or mentioned by others.
I pick up on the raspberry and plum, but in a tart sense, not sweet the way I imagined. The sandalwood and tonka to me is quite strong as a base, giving this a unique darkness that changes throughout the day.

I couldn't compare this to other scents that I've tried because it is quite different. I do really like it though.

Sniffathon

It’s just nice, and as others have mentioned I think “naive” is a good descriptor. It’s fruity and sweet and youthful but as expected from Nishane it’s high quality, complex and niche.
I get fancy shampoo with the fruit amplified vibes.
If you’re into pleasant, inoffensive, fruity sweet designer fragrances but want to dabble in niche quality, then this would suit.

Cherry_Darling

Fruity is not my genre so take this with a pinch of salt but, this smells very generic to me. Sweet, synthetic, basic, shampoo, drugstore young girl's cheap perfume and candy floss are the vibes it's giving. So I probably haven't said much new here as many share this sentiment. There is a touch of coconut, and it is a bit soapy, quite sugary...nothing about it smells like distinctive raspberries or plums. Some white florals I can imagine in here, jasmine and maybe gardenia. Flop! Especially at this price point.

Deechoi1017

I like the opening of this.. I get a coconut note, which I am not a fan of. Something along the way makes it clean and soapy on me which I don't like at all. Coconut note tends to turn that way on me. I get very little fruity and sweet notes. This was a fail for me. So disappointed! From the notes I thought I would love this.

Fragrancemepls

Hard pass. Scrubbed off my wrist. Did not like at all. Love HSW. This one had a note that was not pleasant.

Clairexoxo

Mainly a sweet fruity scent with rose. The raspberry is the most prominent note, then the sweet plum and rose with a woody-creamy base from the sandalwood. In the opening, the bergamot brings a hint of brightness. In the background, I pick up a little bit of a clean musk and a touch of warmth from the amber. Call me crazy but I get a spicy/peppery note at some point and I don't like it at all. This is okay, nothing offensive. Definitely has an innocent, youthful, and girly aura to it. Honestly, this fragrance is pretty boring in my opinion because it lacks character.

Caldrumr

A sweet and very feminine designer-esque fragrance.
Lots of coconut and berries, jasmine and a little musk.
It's okay, but not what I expect from a niche fragrance.
If you think this smells like Original Santal, go straight to your doctor and get yourself checked.

Dumbplings

They really tried so hard to copy mont blanc individuel...but ended up making a powdery, feminine, floral, musky, soapy and not so fruit attempt at mont blanc individuel. They tried though and you can definitely smell they tried in this fragrance but it's way too floral and not enough fruit, cardamom levels is about the same as individuel it's still got the soapy/powdery smell there like individuel. Not niche quality though, niche quality would've been creeds original santal

Nichole FZA

I wanted to love this, or at least like it but it’s not working for me. I’m sorry. It’s just too sickly synthetic sweet on my skin. My first love with Nishane is Ani, and then I blind bought this…oh no, it’s just like…hmm, nevermind.

Aeris

This is “good”, but not niche price worthy to me. I was hoping the fruity opening in the sample I tried would mature into a deep and complex fragrance. Now THAT would be worthy of a niche price and the cute “young and naive” story. BUT it just sort of stayed in the territory of celebrity fragrances. I have nothing against those. I have dozens. BUT I also didn’t pay over $200 on each. Nishane has been hit or miss for me. So far, Nanshe is still my fav from them. I appreciate that they take chances.

Lejrmc

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it kinda smelled like montale’s intense tiare even though the notes are NOT the same. Like a fruitier version of that one. It’s not what I expected but I’ll keep testing it out and seeing what layering can do.

MademoiselleMaya

Womanity-like and yet no caviar no fig to create this effect.
Of Womanity it reminds me after 3 hours.
Before 3 hour mark it is all about wood and honey. Or honey and wood :)

It is memorable, addictive. Lasts 2 days on skin.
Woody, sweet, warm, fruity, sexy.
Sample test in cold weather.

Silverquick

Meh! Sickly cheesy smell and loads of fermenting fruit.

Skin chemistry says ”no” and renders it Blue Vein & Naive….

dyingbreed1984

Not at all what I expected sadly! My kids said it smells like my candles. Definitely gives aromatherapy vibes. I’ll have to find something to layer it with

hellebelle

If I were asked to identify this from smelling it blind, I would have guessed it was a celebrity scent, perhaps something from Beyoncé’s Heat line. It could also pass for something fruity from Escada. Of course I blind bought it. Love that for me.

Great performance though, and always remember it’s the money you’ve wasted that makes Vain and Naive so important! In fact, the marketing makes the scent so ironic it’s actually almost hip. 🥀 💫

Jeandeaux

It’s interesting to me that most of the reviews about this fragrance claim how feminine and young this fragrance is when on my skin it presents as a smoky raspberry leather, ultimately going the unisex route.

It constantly morphs throughout the day shifting to and from the initial fruity shampoo like scent to that leathery edge and then back again to the fruitiness that slowly softens over time with musk.

It truly captures the message behind the Little Prince’s love and heart break and reignites my fascination with the artistry involved in perfumery.

I’ve found that layering this with Ani harmonizes Vain and Naive’s bipolar nature and together they create a warm musky aura that I’ll be wearing for the rest of my life!!! It’s my secret weapon shh

OneBlueSummer

Update* ya this is darn good, super well rounded, niche that smells unique and great at the same time. Totally green light for "western noses" too, all ages too. 8/10
First impressions : figgy fruitty soapy ( gotta be sandlewood ) , woe beautiful light rose, almost bubblegumy, woe mouth watered here - might be first rose frag to do that to me

Daisv

Insane!!!!! This is NICHE people. This is out of this world, bold, pungey, coconutty, tropical, complex. If you are familiar with Nishane, you know the same musky DNA is pronounced in all their scents. Truly the highlight of this scent is the fuzzy tonic coconut for me. This is decadent and I want to smell like this all summmmmer long. WOW, my new favorite.

**the dry down is soooo Beautiful, it’s a sprinkle of sweet sugary florals. It’s so pleasant and I love the dry down. My clothes is next day and smells divine!

carblazehell

I am really happy with this perfume! It is super Fruity and floral, but not sugary sweet or synthetic smelling. As huge of a fan as I am of raspberries, I often find that I don't love them in perfume. This is an example of a perfect blend of raspberries in a fragrance. I think this does smell more feminine than unisex, personally, but I am sure anyone could pull this one off. It is a happy perfume. Nothing Naive about that!

Lottie30

I bought a sample of this because the note profile seemed like it was up my alley, but sadly it wasn’t for me. If you enjoy coconut, creamy scents or amber/sandalwood scents then this is probably for you.

spankyb

The emojicon for the “ok” rating is as accurate as it gets.

Shawn330

This is beautiful!!!!!!!! Creamy fruity rose raspberry with a creamy sandalwood and jasmine patchouli dry down this is a stunner the further it travels from the skin the better it gets this radiates off my skin like a beautiful melody.

scholar1

I was sooooo excited to wear this fragrance given the note breakdown. The opening for me was a bit blah...a nice little citrus opening, nothing to knock your socks off. The heart for me just went straight to this nutty, creamy almost milky woody scent, which was weird for me because there is no nut or milkiness mentioned in the note breakdown. I tend to prefer my woody scents on the drier side so this milky feel wasn't my favourite.
On my clothes however Oh la la I can smell the plum and raspberry notes quite nicely. I will come back and edit for longevity as I am only about 3 hours into wearing this!

Edit: so for longevity it lasted on my skin about 5 hrs before it turned into a skin scent. If not for it being on my clothes, it would have disappeared altogether.
I sprayed this on again at night after I took a shower to see if in a cooler environment I would smell more of the notes. Happily I report that the fruit notes stayed around a lot longer than in the heat of the day..so about 15 mins this time, but then as it settled I got that milky, nutty, creamy wood scent that pretty much stayed that way.

Toby Farms

Vaine & Naive is a great scent. I like the creamy raspberry scent trail that this fragrance has. But my issue with this fragrance is the longevity, which seems to be about 3hrs on skin and that's fifteen thumbs down being that this is an extrait parfum and also being at the elevated price point. You can probably find cheaper alternatives that do the exact same thing as Vaine & Naive. ✌🏾

Xelibri

It’s a nice perfume, “naive” i think it’s the best description for it. It smells feminine and inofensive (personally i don’t like the rose and jasmine combination but i can wear it), not too strog but not weak, i could wear it as a to go perfume yet it’s not raising at the high expectations that i have from Nishane. I wouldn’t buy it myself but if i receive it as a gift i would keep it especially because when it gets to the base notes it’s really ok.

susiechoo

Woww looking at the dislike bar - this seems to be quite a love or hate fragrance.
I personally love it! I don't typically like raspberry scents - they seem to turn on me. I think the raspberry does still turn on me but only slightly and it seems to go away. It's almost like a slight powdery note that vaguely resembles baby powder. I don't get that much rose here or at least not the typical rose I'm used to smelling.

Vain & Naïve is a creamy floral scent but, as another reviewer pointed out, - it's smells like sexy coconut scent and i agree. It's definitely not the coconut vibe from a beachy/sun tan lotion scent.
It's a totally unique scent.

mamafrag

I have been wearing and enjoying this all day.

This isn't an overtly rose scent (but it is there adding a freshness). Neither do either of the fruits in the heart stand out on their own. The raspberry doesn't become too sweet or too tart bc the plum and jasmine are toning it down.

At times I feel like I smell subtle coconut....sexy coconut. My son walked by me at one point and said I smell coconut. There's also a nutty quality to the base. Like pistachio maybe, but this is also subtle. Everything plays really well together.

I'm 39 and feel this is totally age appropriate. It smells different on the skin than it does on paper. I also think some guys could pull this off. It's def not as sweet as Hundred Silent Ways, which I also own. That one is more feminine leaning.

Longevity is good. It projected for about 3 hours and then was a skin scent for another 6.

ingeneuxo

-Was recommended this by the Sales Assistant at a niche boutique when I asked for a recommendation for a scent that would suit the tastes of someone who loves Parfums de Marly- Delina Exclusif (one of my signature scents).
-This smells pretty, but leans a bit young for me... it comes across as something a teenager would wear.
-Not fbw. (-)

Ahmong

As a guy, I love this frag so much. Sure it's feminine but I absolutely do not care.

The sweetness and fruitiness is so rounded and soft that it's just extremely pleasing. Some say it gets more unisex when it starts to settle but on my skin, the same lovely opening stays.

craftymaya

BEAUTIFUL!! <3. Compliment getter! I scored 50% off on Maxaroma, I couldn't be happier! It is on the sweet side, but not too sweet. Very fruity and feminine. Longevity is very good (3-4 hours) and sillage is moderate. But this is very unique. LOVE!

Old School Tie

For me this house is very overrated. Of course there is a good chance you will get decent performance from an extrait. Just imagine all your favourite EdT and EdP fragrances re-issued in extrait form - I am pretty certain that would re-frame opinions of Nishane. And yes, I have tried several of their offerings, they were fine, but came to the conclusion it was mostly sleight of hand, I mean, I wonder what LIDGE extrait would smell like or GPH 1 or Opium....?

mnitabach

The opening for me is unbalanced & way too soapy & sharp. The cedar heart accord is distracting "overheated sauna" vibe. Fruit departs pretty quickly & you're left with a seemingly basic woody rose. Not my fave from Nishane.

Moeytja

Omg i love this!! Huuugeee love for me. I think every house should have something wearable, versatile and universally pleasing. Like do you always need a weird crazy smell?

This is just it, a beautiful feminine perfume that you can wear every day of the year, its super fresh, yet has body and warmth to it, given by the tonka, benzoin and an ever so soft Barely there patchuli..
It suits most occasions and it has a clean, hint of powdery smell. The plum is front and center, rose extremely smooth and ethereal.

Its aromatic, a bit balsamic, sweet undertone, creamy, super smooth and an incredible high quality natural smell. The name really even conveys the way this smells, and the Le Petit Prince story behind really giveS this Ethereal and innocent vibe to it.

This is not a run off the mill Fruity scent that any designer could replicate due to the quality. No its not completely Groud breaking but it is very unique as i cant even think of what this could remind me of. Lol its more unique than ani honestly.

It is a blind buy as 90% of my collection and i was pleasantly surprised given the average grade many reviewers have given this.

This is a very Multifaceted unique perfume that is incredibly wearable and likeable, i give it a solid 4.4 Fragrantica stars. Love and signature scent worthy! Wish i had bought the 100ml but only found the 50ml.

This is not feminine to the degree a guy couldn’t wear this, could be unisex but for sure not masculine.

msajoy

its a pleasant, nice smelling long lasting fragrance.i liked it but not love. nishane has done better. this is played safe with pink rose and fruits, and it doesnt take things to the daring side. good fragrance for spring, and my personal opinion this will smell better on women.
8/10(for longevity 1 extra mark)

ridgel

This smells very good, but the sweetness here is a generic sweetness, I expected something more complex based on the note breakdown. I want more rose, or sandalwood, or even a distinguishable plum smell. Long lasting, but lacking oomph.

Mozy511

Yes it is a romantic one but totally unisex,a very beautiful take on rose,to sexy at same time,my favorite Nishane..

goeswithness

First you get the "Naive." It almost smells like a little girl fragrance. But then you get complexity. There is a depth and a determination there. The longer you have it on the more beautiful it is, still sweet but with an earthiness too. Also, at the beginning it's very feminine but a little later you can imagine it on a man as well. I think that's the balsam. Anyway, I'd say it's magical!

wxmath

Very light feminine fragrance. Sticks close to the skin. Received as a sample and not bottle worthy to me. I might like this on a woman during romantic moments.
