Secret Obsession fragrance is presented in September 2008. including Eva Mendes in new provocative campaign.

The campaign for the fragrance Secret Obsession has already caused a lot of fuzz. Commercial showing Eva with impure thoughts emphasizes provocation with Eva\'s sexy voice which tells all her sexual secrets. TV networks and advertisers did not like the commercial, precisely because of too accentuated sexual implementations.

Print campaign was created in black and white version with Eva in passionate rapture on the photographs. It is mentioned by the house CK that the video commercial tells the whole story, while print form of photographs can capture just one moment of passion. Fashion and lifestyle magazines has published the commercial in September 2008.

And what did Eva Mendes say about the perfume when she tried it? \'When I first tried Secret Obsession, I was completely taken over by it. When you first try some kind of food and you instantly have a craving for another bite – that is exactly how I felt when I tried the perfume Secret Obsession.

I found a full 50 ml bottle in a flea market the other day for 4 euro.
A blind buy obviously but I was intrigued by the bottle and as I am very familiar with the classic Obsession by Calvin Klein I had to get it.
It's a boozy scent which opens strongly on the alcoholic side, but as it dries down it turns very seductive and warm. The plum, the amber and vanilla gives this a liquory vibe and I don't know if I can pull it off :-) Just smelling it makes me feel a bit tipsy.
The more it dries down the more I pick up the woodsy tones and I guess it would be right up my alley if it wasn't boozy to the point where It feels like I spilled a bottle of Rum on my hand.
But still I am curious and a bit under it's spell, I am intrigued. It has something luring underneath that I can't seem to get enough of.
The more it dries down the more I get hooked.
It barely has any resemblance to the original Obsession other than that warmness that seems to envelop you completely.
I really like it and I'm glad to have found it.

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession
At first spray, I thought it was a sharp green tuberose like Bulgari Tubereuse Mystique. However, now I feel, even though there is a fresh element, it is a warm, spicy, and very cozy scent. It is rather strong in the opening, but it dries down very quickly, and after 4 hours it is very subtle. This perfume has a very interesting combination of notes that I like... especially nutmeg....wonderful for winter wear.
I believe if this was in a nicer bottle, people would say it is a very artistic find. I think this is a good economical scent....and I rarely find quality in economical scents, but this one is good.

Wood? What wood??? This is a fresh-spicy floral, slightly aquatic. I blind bought this online for $20. I immediately regretted it and thought I’d hate it. Especially after reading reviews here, one that said it smelled like beer 🤢. When it arrived, I’d forgotten everything I read besides the beer comparison. I cringed as I sprayed it. I prepared to run and scrub. I waited a minute for it to dry, and I smelled…

Flowers. Many beautiful flowers. Something spicy and a bit sweet. And some fragrance I used to smell in the 90s that I really liked but never figured out what it was—sort of a creamy cold wet lily note. I assumed it was lily, only to come here and see it’s my favorite tuberose! Done here in a way that’s different from all my other tuberose scents. Cooler, more aquatic, fresh and wet, but so spicy! Not the warm spice of the original Obsession, something more green. I really like it, it smells so much better than other aquatic tuberose scents from the 90s that end up having cologne vibes. I think BBW made a lily lotion in ‘96 or earlier that smelled like this. I got a bottle of it once and saved it for years because I could never find it again. I still remember it and longed for it. Well, here it is, in a flanker of my favorite CK scent!

I guess the woods are subtle in the background but I don’t notice them at all. This is a pure spicy aquatic floral on me. The bottle is pretty ugly, the browns in all the Obsession bottles make them look so unappealing. What’s inside though is awesome. I’ll definitely be getting a backup of this.

I’d recommend this for tuberose lovers who want a 90s style aquatic in their collection. I’ve decluttered a handful of more modern aquatic tuberose scents that were too sharp. Even though Secret Obsession is spicy, it’s also smooth! It also isn’t as cheap feeling and watered down as newer CK formulations. Would recommend 100%

I was never a fan of the original Obsession. I was a preteen/teen when it was at the peak of it's populaity. I associated it with older women and found it too mature. Secret Obsession has enough of the original's DNA that I get a little bit of that feel with it as well. It's not as dated and mature as the original, but it isn't youthful and modern either.

The opening is spiced plum. As it settles on the skin the tuberose and ylang ylang stand out from the other florals, the dry down is alot of ambery sandalwood. I don't always get along with sandalwood. I often find it unpleasant and overwhelming. I don't find that here. The sandalwood is dominant but not overwhelming, it leaves enough room for the other notes to be enjoyed as well.

The spiced plum gives Secret Obsession a sexy night-time vibe for a grown woman. I find it too heavy for warmer weather. The spiciness along with the dark fruits and heavy florals are much more suited to cooler weather.

Secret Obsession has amazing performance. It lasts at least 12 hours on skin and on clothes and hair until washed. The projection is pretty strong for the first few hours of wear, reaching well beyond arms reach. The projection only settles a bit after those first few hours.

Though it's not really my taste, Secret Obsession is a beautiful fragrance. It has a mature sexiness that is bold and mysterious. The bottle really suits the fragrance inside. The shape of the bottle reflects the mysterious nature of the fragrance while the colour of the glass hints at the warm, spicy woodiness of the scent.

Iconic'80s

I blind bought this at TJ Maxx in Park City Utah on vacation 15 years ago. It was the height of summer and I immediately loved it.
Because I first experienced it in summer I don't reserve this for colder months-I think it works well in heat, but it is amplified on me.
I really get the grapey plum right out of the bottle, but it simmers down to the woody, aromatics that I adore.
My husband sometimes asks me if I'm wearing beer when I have this on-but his sense of smell is very off, so I don't listen to that. I get numerous compliments on this when I'm up close to others.
I found this on Fragrancenet.com for a great price so I'm going to order more asap since it's discontinued.
I don't detect any difference in my newest bottle than from my original years ago.

pheeatrixkiddo

Immediate bubbly grape soda on first spray that scared me a little bit, but within a minute it transformers to a beautiful blooming tuberose and juicy plum bomb. After maybe an hour it dries down to a warm, slightly spicy plum amber and some crushed white floral petals - I cannot stress enough how strong (but beautiful) the tuberose note is on me and how surprising it is. I was expecting more spice, honestly, but it’s possible I go a little noseblind to it the way every amber heavy frag is hard to identify once you’ve been wearing it for a bit. I just get the smallest hint of spice, understated and more cozy than anything. Where's my nutmeg?! I was promised nutmeg!

Contains just a bit of recognizable Obsession DNA - every so often a whiff will bring me right back to those perfume samples wedged into glassy magazine pages (maybe I’m aging myself with that), but Secret Obsession is still its own unique and lovely relative.

It all makes for a beautiful perfume all around, an easy cooler weather grab with lovely people-pleasing and non-headachey florals, a rich plummy heart, and a spicy amber drydown.

QtElle

I love the ingredients for Secret Obsession but unfortunately I smelled like green olives. For some reason my body chemistry doesn't mix well with this perfume and I felt like a Greek salad wandering around town. I gave it to my friend and wow! It smelled completely different on her! It smelled like cinnamon and plum to me! So delicious!

worldgeorge310

from a young mans perspective,it really does smell like the sexy aunt at gatherings. seductive, mysterious and dark.

Venumb

My favorite for the last two years! So sad that it’s discontinued 😔
Plummy, spicy, woody and almost a hint of incense or smoke. The plum isn’t so much fruity as it is boozy, bordering on a plum liqueur.
To me this is the sexiest perfume I’ve smelled. Mature, not fresh necessarily but not too heavy either as it feels balanced from the florals. Perfect in the evening/night or for winter and fall.

meliecat

I sampled this back in the day when it was out and revisited it now - discontinued.
The bottle is lovely and goes well with the actual scent.
The instant lowdown is my skin chemistry, my skin wouldn't hold this scent at all.. It's lovely, woodsy-plum with hues if amber and orchid on my sweater. A great autumn scent, should I say? Such a pity that it doesn't develop the same way on me..I'd still have it in my collection though.

ElonorCrush

I loved this scent so much, its so warm and sophisticated. I prefer it to ck Obsession, definitely but only due to personal preference. It reminds me of 'your rich auntie' living somewhere near mountains kind a vibe.

selinacat

I recently got this and Belle D'Opium, and they filled a space in my collection I didn't know was there. Fruity spiced woodsmoke. They both start off with this blast of a citrus/red berry blend, that blooms into a gentle spice, and finishes floral and musky. It's a beautiful composition, and truly deceptive.

The opening is youthful and fruity. Then, the middle is a spice melange that changes with your chemistry. More heady in warmer weather, cozy in cooler. This is where overspraying can come back to bite you in the butt. Finally, it settles into the instantly recognizable iconic woodsy base from the original *whispers* Obsession.

So if you like the idea of these scents, but feel awkward in spice, try a fruity smokebomb instead! They sweeten up the spice enough to soften the bitter edges while still maintaining that calming creamy vibe.

For longevity, use an unscented body cream or butter on your pulse points mixing it in. It really intensified my weaker scents.

felised

Secret Obsession was definitely a welcome surprise, what an underrated gem! At least I don't really hear about it in my circles. I know the OG Obsession quite well and I do like it very much, but Secret Obsession smells nothing like that.

I don't get the grapey, juicy plum note found in the likes of Poison here, it's more like plum liqueur. Then that liqueur is mixed with spices and tuberose, bolstered by sandalwood and ambery touches in the drydown. Very feminine and beautiful woody floriental, I think this would be a great budget-friendly option for people looking for something unique within the designer world. The sillage and longevity both could be better, but at this price point I'm not really complaining. It smells more expensive than it is, that's for sure.

suzanne_ronald

CATNIP for OBSESSIVES. Spiced rum & raisin cream! Opens with a burst of spiced & boozy plum that continues and deepens into a creamy white & yellow floral blend, resting on a vanilla-sandalwood-cashmere wood base with touches of cedar, rooty iris and wormwood. The mace note has reminders of Organza Givenchy which also features mace.

Contrast to Samsara EDT Guerlain:
There is a similar oriental woody vibe, but ylang and sandalwood are more forward in Samsara which doesn't have the spiced-plum present in Secret Obsession.

Contrast to Poison Dior:
There is a similar vibe with the plum and white floral, but cedar is more forward in Poison and the florals are slightly more bitter than Secret Obsession to my nose.

Contrast to Venezia 2011 Laura Biagiotti:
There is a similar oriental woody vibe with ylang, sandalwood and plum, but spices and white florals are more forward in Secret Obsession.

Contrast to Mania Armani 1999:
Similar oriental woody vibe, but clove is more forward in Mania.

Contrast to Adam Levine for Women:
Similar oriental woody vibe with spicy sandalwood, but white florals and plum feature in Secret Obsession, and the sandalwood is touchier in Adam Levine for Women where sometimes it will pull slightly dill.

Overall: a hidden gem of a scent, affordable and above average performance, this is the perfect scent to wear while practicing self-hypnosis. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Not even my cat stands this perfume. He ran under the bed when I tested it. Smells of cheap whisky and straight alcohol. Hard pass. I sold it after one spray 🤢

Gemsense

Clean, warm, floral, spicy... Only works in cold winter snowy weather and you really do need to be in a mood for this, especially if you're typically a sweet gourmand lover. But I layered this with casmir and it's really nice 🙂

It does dry down to a soapy floral and personally, that is what has drawn me to this! I love that smell! Love the dry down! Just have to get through the whiskey bourbon alcoholic beginning then the true beauty shines through and it's a soap lovers spicy dream!
I think if you love Spellbound, Jessica McClintock, j.lo Glow and Samsara... You would enjoy this. It's soap and spices in the dry down. A hidden gem for sure! It's turned into a love for me now!

Skinscents4Fusspots

Incredibly soapy! There’s something magical about it but sadly on me it’s just too sharp. The wormwood is similar to Burberry body and there’s something headache inducing about it, but the boozyness and the nutmeggy spice is lovely. It leans too far towards a harsh shampoo soapyness for me to be able to wear it and I’m sad because the bottle is so lovely!

SerenaLovesKanye

I thought this would be strong and powerful but it's bold in softer, more seductive, deeper and more confident way, this is a gorgeous perfume. There are notes that appeared for me, an hour after spraying, that are so surprisingly delightful and full of beauty, I don't know which ones but I know that I've smelled this note before and whatever this is it's comforting and beautiful. Secret Obsession is distinctive, I don't know anything that smells like this. This is a beautiful special blend of notes, and I'm so happy to own it. The bottle is gorgeous too.

Freyaskywalker

Straight bourbon smell. Made me nauseated at first as it reminded me of one too many nights out drinking until dawn. However the dry down was much nicer. Less boozy and more spicy/warm. I might pass this to my hubby who loves whiskey. Not for me unfortunately

Scentfrommanna

I have to agree with @rhaineclayton - the opening is beautiful. If it stayed like that on me I’d buy it in a heartbeat as the tuberose in this is stunning and so different from your usual tuberoses. Unfortunately within about twenty minutes it turns into a soapy mess on me. Probably down to skin chemistry though as I find plum a really hard note to wear, it can smell a bit like self tan on me.
A bargain buy as I do think it has niche qualities.

Lenauk

I respectfully disagree with Gemsense. I don't get cigarettes, cigars, or 1980s Barry in nightclubs. I get beautiful, exotic, pine incense amber, myrrh ( even though it's not noted it smells that way! ) sandalwood, earthy but at the same time sweet type smells which I absolutely love. Since blind buying Al Rehab perfume oils based on positive reviews here and the majority of them smelling awful apart from Golden Sand and Sabaya which smell nice I tend not to pay attention to the reviews on this website. In fact many are totally irrelevant to what I smell.

In fact I team this with Golden Sand by Al Rehab which smells like a much toned down more caramel flavoured version of this or this with Safeena Al Arab Al Haramain ( another amber based oil perfume ) and it smells like 2000BC Jerusalem which is the EXACT smell I want to achieve!

Some females love floral and girly sents which which just isn't me. This is a five star sent and I hope it never discontinues!

mugurekarige

i first smelled it years ago & it's a scent that stayed with me. it's one that's not easily accessible but I've scoured the globe 😂 & finally found it ! i can't wait to get my hands on it !
secret obsession is exactly that - & addictive beyond words.
I'd best describe it as bold, complex, alluring & warm.
& only such a woman can pull it off without the scent wearing her as opposed to her wearing it.
it elevates, not exudes, raw sensuality; pure & primal sexual energy.
it's sexy as fuck.
i'm looking forward to layering it with vanilla musk by Coty & see how that plays out. 🤞

update: layering with vanilla musk did not work, but that's cause the vanilla musk is way muskier than it is vanilla-oriented, at least on me.
secret obsession is still the beast that I remember it to be - it's bad bitchery in all its glory.
after a while though, it smells off if sprayed on clothes, longevity could be better too.
still highly highly recommend.

Gemsense

Definitely don't try this is the summer! It's a cool summer morning and I spray this and it's strong stale cigarettes, old super full ashtray in an old dirty dusty wood cabin with a hint of jack Daniels in the air. It won't wash off or be covered up! I'll have to try this in cold weather cuz right now it's horrendous! The ashtray is the most prominent note! 🤢

Ferra_Verto

Woody & spicy white florals with amber, very lovely for autumn & winter. I like the rosy plum burst from the start of the scent's profile, delves into a sandalwood/amber & tuberose-dominant combo.
Good sillage, around arms' length. Can't overspray or overwhelm with this scent if you tried.
Super cheap, definitely a worthwhile addition.

rhaineclayton

At first sniff, this is truly divine. Boozy, sweet and spicy. Sadly, the dry down turns dry and musty. Bearable, not awful. Still has a hint of the opening, only the sweetness is gone. Such a shame.
Edit to add: there's almost a soapiness in the dry down, which is one of my least favourite things in a perfume 😢

Kuty22

I don't know what kind of juju they created but this perfume works so well on my skin and I don't understand why because I look at the notes, and apart from the tuberose, there's nothing that would make me 'love' it but I do.
Today I layered this with Bare Vanilla and oh my goodness amazing
I have a feeling this one pairs well with sweet vanilla/rum fragances - ❤️

Bclperfumerymzbi

Extremely Long-lasting!
More than 18hours on my skin and days on my denim and regular clothes..
Has this piercing Sillage that follows you around.. Absolutely love this one
Mirsaal with Love by Afnan reminds me slightly of this.
I smell fresh lemons and zesty freshness and oriental spices and white florals with this.. Not your regular floral flowery feminine frag. This is beautiful..different. I'll repurchase if I find it again because I hear it's now discontinued. So cheap too! Great value

melanie

Dizzy cognac, woody... sadly discontinued. But there are so many more on the market. And that is the purpose of finding the best scent. This can only be understood by those who truly love beautiful scents. Don't bother trying to figure it out, only true perfume lovers know what it means.

ThatGothBBW

Plain and simple, this is a deep, dark, spice bomb!

The sandalwood, nutmeg, and ceder is most prominent on my skin. I just don't like it. It's just too spicy and robust. Fall/winter spices in a bottle.

But that doesn't mean it wouldn't appeal to someone else or that the quality lacks in this fragrance. It's just not for me

Kuty22

I just received my bottle after trusting my instinct.
I find the bottle gorgeous, as if it holds a secret potion ❤️
This is Strong, like really strong, spicy and floral, if you test it on a paper strip it will come off softer, than on your skin.
However, warmth is needed as it adds sweetness to the fragance.

Another blind buy 🙈
This is a gem 💎 to, quite unique I don't have anything like it
On my skin is really sweet, like really sweet, I'm getting plum, tuberose, rose, sandalwood and vanilla. I'm not getting the spices on the skin but on the paper strip you can definitely tell.
It's a bit oily because I sprayed it on the skin and I can see the oil, so be careful with silk, satin shirts.
I know this bottle will last me forever but I'm gonna buy a back up bottle.
Calvin Klein fragances have been a great find

FlowerBabe

I tried my my best to like but it's just not for me. I agree with a review below, it's heavy, opaque and just not a pleasant scent. This perfume was gifted to my mom by my sister in law. Mom hated it so she gave it to me, I don't like it either even though I tried to wear it many times to give it a chance until I realised I'm never gonna like it. I returned the bottle to mom so that my sister in law doesn't find it with me.

jonbecca

I pulled this one out of a box I keep of perfumes I am not using. It is nearing the end of winter and I wanted to give it one more try before moving on to the lighter scents of spring and I still don't like it. There is something heavy, dense and opaque about it that makes it feel like a burden to wear, almost like carrying a heavy load. I really tried to like it, but I think it is just not for me.

meama

This Lutensian tuberose is easy to buy everywhere for 20€, sweet, spicy and lightly sirupy ...delicious.

LSAUG

Secret Obsession made me think of 2 perfumes right away when I smelled it. The 1st was L'Interdit Eau de Rouge by Givenchy. I sampled that in Ulta and disliked it, smells like a root beer float. When perfumers want to introduce spicy notes w/ sweeter notes the overall effect can come off like a coke float or a root beer float and doesn't read like a fine fragrance to the nose. Secret Obsession succeeds where L'Interdit fails. Secret Obsession is a wonderful spicy, plummy tuberose perfume w/ a slight woody and powdery finish. The second perfume I thought of when I smelled Secret Obsession was Rose Volupte by Sonoma Scent studio, which I own. That is a spicy plummy rose perfume. While different spices were used in each, Cinnamon in Rose Volupte and Nutmeg in Secret Obsession the effect is quite similar but also very different from each other. I now own a spicy plummy rose and a spicy plummy tuberose. Nice. Secret Obsession is inexpensive and a safe blind buy if you like spices, plum and tuberose. But beware of the bottle, the cap is difficult to get off.

joe.le.taxi

Very High quality tuberose scent, powerhouse performance. Smells luxurious like a Tom Ford private blend. Fans of Poison and Amarige will enjoy this a lot. Best worn in cool weather! Beautiful!

When I had no money to buy perfume, my mum gave me a bottle of this to wear and I loved it!

10/10

clebermaximo

Unfortunately on my skin it was just floral... A heavy powerhouse floral which I dare to say reminds me of Poison or Loulou but not as rich and well blended as those (I do like both of them). There is a blast of orchid and tuberose (the latter I do hate) and some Neroli shouting... A little bit of plum appears as well. Very powdery and quite vintage. The drydown had the cat piss someone said before and I do feel the wormwood gives that weird smell.
For me, particularly, was headache inducing - and I am used to wear bombs from the 70s and 80s - so it was surprising feeling this way.
My review is extremely out of the curve, since most people felt spices and the sexy vibe... Things I could not feel here.
I could not realize any resemblance to Feminité du Bois, Dolce Vita or Santal de Kandy. A sad blind buy for me.
By the way, my batch code is from 2017 I do not know if it was reformulated to a floral thing or if it is my skin chemistry that could not match with it.
I shall give it another try. Who knows it gets better with time.

iamshera623

Loved the way this opened, and then it’s just a disaster for me. All I can smell is cat pee. It’s awful. I asked others around me if they could smell cat pee, but it was just me. I found that regular obsession is the same way. I guess the animalic note in these doesn’t vibe with me. Scares me away from other frags with that “accord” listed. 🤢

GoldieHue

Soft, beautiful and addictive.

Slickchick81

It's a wow from me. This perfume is unusual, sexy, spicy. I am starting to really like plum notes in fragrances but this is a complex layered perfume, masterfully blended. This is bad bitch perfume, it's powerful, makes a statement. I f@#king love it!! It is cheap as chips to buy, cannot understand why, but am happy and will gladly repurchase when empty.

Kizzyb93

I’m not a fragrance nope by all means after trying to other Calvin Klein perfumes I had my mind made up about the brand with their perfume lines I had a little bit of hope for this and if I’m honest it’s not bad however it’s definitely not amazing either I find this very spicy which I do not hAte… I find it a very odd smelling perfume but I am waiting for colder weather to see how it performs In winter… UPDATE
I gave this so many chances but it gave me evil crazy cat lady vibes so I gave it away

annasarahr121

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession is definitely an interesting perfume, to my nose -- an experience, even! It's one of the very few perfumes that I actually hated when I first smelled my blind-bought bottle; I thought it smelled like pungent deodorizing rug shampoo or something (Unfortunately, I may have been influenced by Tania Sanchez's review in Turin & Sanchez's perfume guide...). But so many folks loved it and urged me to take it out when the weather was cooler, assuring me that I would then be able to see just how beautiful it is, that I put it on a shelf and vowed to try again later -- and lo and behold, they were right!

Maybe it was the strong mace & nutmeg in the opening, layered over the plum & tuberose base -- it just smelled odd to me, like a weird mashup of smells that didn't go together. But when I tried it again, months later, I suddenly "got" it, but I'm not really sure why! It just suddenly smelled very good to me and I don't have a clue what changed... Maybe my nose was "primed," having smelled it before; maybe the bottle needed to "rest" (I've heard people mention this but I'm not sure what it means). Since I have a decent-sized collection, this evening I decided to compare Secret Obsession -- with its strong plum and tuberose notes -- with other examples of these notes. So I pulled out one of my favorite plum perfumes, Rochas Femme, along with one of my strongest tuberose perfumes, Michael Kors original scent, and yes, those are unmistakably the notes in Secret Obsession (minus the nutmeg & mace, though). Mmmmmmmm, beautiful!!!

To me, Secret Obsession is a very sensual, cozy scent (many reviewers also mentioned this) and it strikes me as best for cool to cold weather (I associate nutmeg & mace with Christmas cookies). Performance-wise, I'm not sure if the super-strength of it just fades really fast or if I go nose-blind (anosmic) to it (I suspect the latter). But it's gorgeous, warm, and cozy-sexy (as opposed to vampy sexy like, say, Salvador Dali Dali PDT or Ungaro Diva). Plus, I think the bottle is magical & beautiful; I've never seen another one like it. It's a great bargain (I think I got it on FragranceNet for less than $20) and I'm so glad I hung onto it instead of immediately giving it away. The experience of suddenly coming to like/love this one after putting it on the shelf for months and months is one of those mysterious experiences that happens around fragrance that keeps me coming back for more... ;)

lovealwaysalisa

This is GORGEOUS! Such an under the radar hidden gem! This was a blind buy I purchased from under $15 for a 50ml and I LOVE it. This is softly spicy, cozy, fresh, aromatic and balsamic all in one. Very hard to explain unless you smell it. I get the plum, mace, nutmeg, florals and sandalwood mostly. Just beautiful. Perfect fall fragrance in my opinion. I'm wishing I had a larger bottle now and am considering purchasing a backup already because I love it that much.
SideNote: As far as the bottle...idk. Is it a genie lamp or a bulb of garlic? I'm gonna go with genie lamp...lol. Also....Im only digging this fragrance in fall. Winter came and it smelled different and not as pleasant...*shrugs*

qofb

This to me smelt like fortified wine with an ambery base. It smelt like sherry with nutmeg and mace. I'm sure that's the plum making it smell a bit like booze. It felt quite, well, dusty to me too, likely the orris and cedar. the only other note I could notice was the tuberose, it's background though. I don't find this fragrance sexy, I struggled to find it even pleasant. It certainly was something I was pleased to finish a bottle of. Longevity is middling and projection is ok. Not for me at all though. You can get 100ml for £19.99 easily right now. I am thanking myself that I only got a 30ml! Entertainingly, the bottle looks like a garlic bulb, not the most sexy thing I can think of! I wonder what Calvin Klein were thinking with that design back in 2008?!

Sailor Pluto

I really wanted to love this but it is barely ok to me. It is very spicy to me and borderline masculine. It’s not sweet enough for my taste. I feel like giving it to my dad or something.I could swear there's civet in this!

marialena888m

This scent is very sexy and sensual to my nose, yet I imagine the wearer to be a very coy and subtle type of seductress, it’s understated sexy, but intensely so beneath a calm surface. I don’t know why I perceive it that way? It’s also simultaneously classy, mysterious and...somehow very cozy? I get tuberose, plum, iris, sandalwood and amber more than anything. I think nutmeg adds a special touch...the aroma (and taste) of nutmeg gives me tingles, I love the stuff, which I why I gravitate towards a lot of 80s-90s scents. I feel a certain way when I smell Secret Obsession and I can’t quite explain it. It conjures thunderstorms, black velvet robes, black lace, wood-paneled hotel suites, luxury soap, Egyptian cotton sheets and a fire place. I love it. I can see this on an elegant, sensuous cougar type who wears a lot of black, a soft spoken, silent type who has a lot of depth to her. For eg., I can picture Monica Bellucci or some other dark haired mature beauty smelling like this on a beautiful autumn day. I had a bottle of the original Obsession, and while I like it, it doesn’t smell sexy to me and is much sweeter and heavier, difficult to wear, so I gave it away. This one is much easier to wear and is calmer and more sophisticated. My bottle of SO is from 2010, I have no idea how it smells like now, but I’m curious to find out. The one I have has low-moderate projection (which is great, this scent would be annoying if it was loud), and about 6 hours longevity.

Kathryn J.

I blind bought it and am disappointed because I HAVE this already but it’s called Estee Lauder “Amber Mystique!” Very similar but harsher and somewhat headache inducing. Oh well. Live and learn….

Anamandy

Layering this with Annick Goutal's Songes really takes both fragrances to another level of gorgeousness. If you have both, try it. I doubt you'll be disappointed with this stunning combination.

eau de cocoa butter

I want to like this so bad because I love heavy scents but this is heavy in a chain smoker kind of way. The scent lingers and lingers even though you don't want it to. It's definitely a great cover-up scent and reminds me of the perfume my aunt would spray after sneaking a cigarette outside of the family event. It's not beautiful to me, it's just heavy and opaque and definitely does not work on my skin.

Peters155

I was surprised to come across this in a discounted store in town I thought it was discounted so I brought the full size bottle for 30€. When ever I smell it my mother comes to mind and it’s crazy she never worn this perfume and I never smelled it on anyone before but just reminded me of her so think i will gift her this perfume hopefully it be a new signature scent along side her other favourite Red Door

Contessa01

A more complex and modern take on the original Obsession. It is a lovely sweet, spicy affair with plum and amber as well as the smoky obsession DNA. It’s not too overpowering or too heavy on the spice notes.

JustSimpleThings

This is a warm, spicy plum tart which had been spiked with loads of rum /cognac richness. A gorgeous winter scent.

whitenonja

it's ok

mrezayipour

Plum and Tuberose are dominant; the spices are available there then. It is sweet but not in a heady way. overall it is soooo nice; many compliment while wearing this. the silage is very good. I'm sad it is going to be finished.

I did not expect anything this sexy to come out of a brown bottle shaped like a pretty head of garlic. This isn’t slinky satin slip dress sexy, it’s understated sexy. The kind of arousal awakened by an exposed sliver of usually covered skin when he/she reaches for something and his/her shirt raises for a fraction of a second, hinting at unexplored territory. This smells like warm skin slightly salted by steamy summer nights. Tuberose is the star here, it’s neither too feminine nor too floral, giving this perfume a nice androgynous quality while maintaining a soft and buttery texture. This brings to mind images of a sweltering summer evening where hormones and heatwaves rage, and all you can stand to wear is this perfume and your bedsheet. The hotter your skin gets the raunchier this scent becomes, the tuberose wilts down to barely a whisper giving way to woodier elements making for a sexy dry down. Ultimately the fragrance finishes soft and musky, barely floral and very worthwhile. I recommend, highly.

Vedalove

This is a little less warm and dark than I expected it to be, it is indeed a fresh spicy scent. It has a little bit of a nineties fancy sandalwood soap vibe going on. It is a tad sweet too, the opening reminds me a little bit of cola/rootbeer too.

Kellergirl

I blind bought this. Big mistake. Straight up tuberose on me. I don't like it at all.

Bigsly

I mostly agree with the previous review, by ali9021. I would add that for me (someone who doesn't like "feminine" woody/florals), I get a carnation and freesia type effect. I think the rose, plum, tuberose, and nutmeg combined lead to a carnation impression, and the wood with some of the floral notes (perhaps with a touch of the spice), come across a bit like heavy fressia scents I've sampled. Also, there is clearly a fresh quality to this, so I get a florist shop effect too. The quality seems fairly good, and I'll have to do a typical wearing at some point and update, because this is a review of a dab sampling.

UPDATE: I really like the far drydown (after say 2 or more hours), as least as a dab on skin that I'm smelling close up. The florals are still obvious but the dry though not harsh wood and spice elements are playing major roles, with the wood being obvious and the spice adding dynamism. The fresh/florist shop quality is mostly gone. I look forward to wearing this in the typical way.

ali9021

I smell mostly tuberose plum and nutmeg with a slight soapy drydown. I realize everyone has a different skin chemistry/nose but the drydown is very similar to Fracas on me which is a good thing!

Woodamber

I was a bit hesitant at first before buying because of the nutmeg. I had no clue what nutmeg supposed to smell like. Once I took the courage to blind buy and to try it on I realized that this was a new favourite.
I was already a big fan of tuberose, plum and sandalwood scents. Secret Obsession makes all of these notes shine perfectly together.
The nutmeg makes it even more warm and spicy! It is also very woody and I do get something soapy (tuberose maybe?) from it. But that is not something negative to my nose haha
I just love it! It makes me think of the first sunny day during winter. I live in a place where the sun usually hides during the first months of winter and this scent make think of the time when spring is starting to take over.
The only negative thing I have to say is that it is gone from my skin after 5 hours. I deeply wished it could last longer on me. I will probably reapply it though just because this scent is so addictive.

CK Secret Obsession Edp 100ml:

🗣Wow"Wow"Wow, I Absolutely Already LOVE This Perfume So Far, & It's Deffo The Most Successful Blind Buy To Date!! & It's Only My First Wear Of It Tonight After My Evening Shower!! It's Warm, Loving, Soft & Cozy, & I Honestly Can't Get Over How Close It Smells To A Once ALL Time Favourite Perfume Of Mine "Di Romeo GiGli Edp" Which Was Also In A Very Strange/Weird Looking Bottle, & Very Sadly Discontinued Ages Ago 😭!! (Still Have A Brand New Un-Opened 50ml Edp Of It) Has Anyone Else Discovered This Like Me?? Well Secret Obsession Deffo Shares The Very Same Aroma Of "Di Romeo GiGli" (Which Incidentally I Was Told By A Very Close Indian Male Friend Smelt The Very Same As The Inside Of A Holy Indian Temple!!) So Much So That He Also Started Wearing "Di Romeo GiGli" & It Smelt SOooooooo Good On Him Too!! So Secret Obsession Must Also Have Something In It Which Gives It That Magical, Mysterious Vibe!! I Deffo Think That I'll Be Ordering Another Back-Up Bottle Of It, As I Can't Stop Sniffing My Arm, & Can See Myself Wearing This Beauty Quite A Lot To Be Honest!!
I Will Up-Date My Review Once I Really Wear This Beauty A Lot More Longer Etc, But For Now It's Deffo A Massive.....................YES!! From Me!! Let's Just Hope & Pray That CK Doesn't Alter Or Discontinue It!! 😍😘❤❤❤💋

lemmenkukka

Warm, soft scent. I use this during cold seasons, late autumn to early spring. Office safe, get's compliments. Highly recommend!

taureanrage69

I love this! The spice has an almost medicinal effect on my sinuses, as this type often does. I find it slightly sharp right away after application, but once the nutmeg settles a bit I can pick up a pretty white floral bouquet which is pleasant while it lasts. This is very very woody and that lasts a long time on my skin. It makes me think of fond memories and things that make me happy. Sexy, warm and beautiful.

LisaMCollins

Ok, I was going to give up on this one and call it a dud. BUT I decided to try layering it with another scent I have. The combo of Sensuous Estée Lauder + Secret Obsession is good...not anything to write home about but solid. Now I have a way to make Sensuous more than just a romantic time skin scent as well...saving Secret Obsession from the give-away pile.

SeauxGood

Secret Obsession smells “nice,” but that’s about the nicest thing I can say about it. Overall, it’s a generic white floral scent with a few drops of spicy-woodsy notes just to make it smell slightly different than every other generic white floral. The plum note in this is way too sweet. The rose and nutmeg notes are too faint. And, don’t let the color of the bottle fool you. There’s so little of the amber, they might as well have left it out. It’s like I want every single note (besides the plum) to be louder, more concentrated... to project something unique rather than this mish-mash of standard floral notes.

This fragrance is more interesting on paper than it is in real life. It reads like it should be a heavy-hitter, but you could spray half this bottle and still have to search for it on your skin in under two hours. Maybe the “secret” is the fact you have on a fragrance at all. Additionally, it smells like the bouquet you hand a 10-year-old after dance recital. I hate the original Obsession, but I can at least applaud it for having a true personality. This one, on the other hand, is very boring and forgettable. A previous reviewer mentioned that it’s a good layering scent, but... meh. I don’t want to keep it, don’t have anyone I’d want to give it to, and don’t feel like going through the hassle of trying to resell it. I only paid about $17 for it, and that’s exactly how it smells.

mirrorghost

starting off i get a sweet plum, mace, nutmeg, sandalwood and a hint of tuberose. the plum is definitely the strongest note on me and remains so into the drydown. it's pretty sweet for my personal tastes. i think this may work better on someone else, but sometimes fruity notes go awry if they are too strong (on me.) i think that's what's happening for me.

Mizz-Coco

This is undoubtedly sexy but in a rich older auntie type of way. This auntie's gone through a number of marriages and could care less, she's living her best life and on the prowl for her next young lover. She's the same auntie that shows up to family dinners in a luxurious fur coat and stiletto heels, hair perfectly styled and a bold red lipstick is her trademark. On initial spray, I found it overwhelmingly spicy and vintage but as it dried down and the floral + spices (mostly nutmeg and jasmine) started to smoothen out, I discovered I kept coming back to my wrist for a sniff. Very deceptively addictive. Sadly, this is the type of sexy that I can't pull off, the scent definitely wears me than the other way around. Luckily this blind buy didn't hurt my pockets too much, it's pretty affordable online.

glamarama

If you wanna smell like a late 80s/early 90s office mom, then this is the perfume for you 💋

secretsweets

What can I say about this fragrance... I don't like it .. I wish I could say more about this perfume.. it smell vintage but it just have this weird kind of smell maybe it would grow on me ..

Ashlowery14

This is mostly a clean floral scent on my skin. I don’t get woody, spicy or powdery at all. Very strong white floral, somewhat outdated scent to me. Reminds me of perfumes my grandma would wear when I was a child. It doesn’t smell bad, but too floral and mature for my taste. If I could smell some woodiness or spice in it I believe I would like it better.

Vanillastorm40

Oh, and one more thing...I love powdery frags and I don't Smell any powder here.

Vanillastorm40

I don't know how to edit my previous review so I'm creating a new review of CK SO. A few days have passed and I'm starting to really dislike this scent. It's very "perfumey", like I have maybe smelled it before. It is in no way unique. I'm always chasing any type of oriental scent and this one, IDK, not my cup of tea. It's nothing special. At first I really liked it but now, meh. Happy I only spent $12.

Vanillastorm40

This is gorgeous. It reminds me a lot of Black XS L'Exces Rabanne. I like Secret Obsession better though because I'm not a huge fan of rose and the drydown of Black XS is very rosy. This also smells similar to my nose as Euphoria.

Anamandy

This is a great layering scent. I accidentally found that out when I used it in the day and instead of washing off the residue when I wanted to change fragrances, sprayed Songes right over it. Songes is gorgeous to begin with, but the combination brought it to another level. It smelled totally different, but still breathtakingly beautiful. The sandalwood is so silky here, and smells so wonderful, that I think it would make a great base for other fragrances. So, if you want to add a little extra Oomph to a scent, layer it with this. I'm sure it would work great with a number of fragrances.

Nataliemarie

WORD! Where do I start? This is freakin' HYPNOTIC! I am downsizing & selling off some of my backups I will never get to b/c I have a problem & we do not live 300 years. So, I am trying to buy "Smart", b/c stopping would be a sin. Several recent blind buys have been SUCH a failure, so I bought a regular rollerball size for 7.99 on Ebay. When I put this on,.. I just do not have the words! I went straight over to my computer to buy a 3.4 oz, b/c it cannot get here soon enough. WOWA! This is subtle sexy in a bottle. LOVE It! I didn't have to wait for the dry down, don't care how long it lasts, or how far the throw is, A BIG bottle is gonna be mine all mine. I agree with the positive reviews. It is DEF unisex, but that does not mean if you are a woman people will think you smell like a mans cologne. It means it's SO good anyone will smell GREAT wearing it. I can't wait for the spray to load down my clothes & hair. Another thing to mention is the DNA of Obsession IS there. From the women's and the men's obsession. If you do not like those, it doesn't mean you won't like this. It sings it's own song, trust me. I am so happy, this is just awesome!
Update! Got my bigol bottle, still in love! This is POTENT. Lasts ages on me.

JSpines

I'm glad that I went with my gut instinct and bought this. It was a blind buy that was successful! I find the scent very warm and smooth. It doesn't have a lot of depth but it's so comforting to wear that I don't care that it's somewhat linear. Wearing this scent makes you feel like you're all wrapped up in a warm blanket! The lasting power could be better as it is pretty faint by the end of the day but I can still catch very light whiffs of it here and there and I quite enjoy it! This is one of the most unisex smelling ladies perfume I have ever smelled. Could easily be labeled as a men's cologne. It's not a "love" for me but definitely a solid "like!"

bel.gravia

BUY IT, DON'T THINK TWICE!
Oh why didn't I get this one earlier?
The bottle is beautiful and the smell is even more beautiful.
Smells like heavy florals, incence and plum jam.
Smells exotic, like an Egyptian night.
Intoxicating and complex.
The only down side - doesn't last :( at all.
Although an EDP, after 20mins its gone.
Otherwise - gorgeous!

octobertragedy

A gem, for sure. I got it because of the good reviews and the notes that seemed very interesting. I found it as a bargain and grabbed it! And yes...this is a gorgeous sweet floral oriental fragrance. I admit I was scared of the plum note, that usually makes me sick, but in this fragrance seems to play a perfect role and does not bother me. Also, the tuberose, the jasmine and the rose blend so well with the creaminess of the nutmeg.
I like every stage of this fragrance, the fruity opening and the amber woody flowery drydown. Perfect in every season, imo, because it carries a nice balance of dark and light notes.
There is only one thing that I must complain about: the longevity. It doesn't stay more than 4 hours on me, but hey, it was a bargain...

amanda-m-lewis

Secret Obsession by Calvin Klein is an underrated gem, that has flown under my radar for many years now. Until now. And to me, Secret Obsession is like a entering the private chambers of kohl rimmed, vestal virgins and concubines.Who are preparing themselves for the king and several days of feasting. Some where near the city of Jordan, in a time when life was good and there was peace.

First, you are enraptured by the sweetness of their beauty and their steady gaze intoxicates as you enter the room.

And then, as you look around, you start to notice, that besides the ornate curtains and fabrics, the plush furs and the bejeweled, gold picture frames. The headiness of their perfume and in the air around you entrances you.

And as you start to search for the source of this olfactory magic. Your eyes are drawn to the onyx table on with left. Laden with delicious, plump, ripe, juicy plums on silver trays. And the sultry and spicey nutmeg, fresh cardamom and rose de damasc teas, which are all grown in the the palace gardens, below.

Next, your senses behold the familiar notes of: Egyptian jasmine, French orange blossom and heavy lidded tuberose flowers, which are planted on the balcony, to scent the night air.
and their scent is scent is softly, wafting around you. Kissing your toes and touching your lips.

You also note, as some women are bathing in what seems to be asses milk, that the petals from those same flower; are turned into precious oils, which soften and scent their honeyied nectar skin. As they enter these mystical baths.

And just as you are taking all of that in, a young maiden, starts to attend to you, so that you can join the women in their bath, and as she passes you, you catch the scent of her skin and hair. Which has been deeply perfumed with the rare and precious cashmere wood, Madagascan vanilla, burnt amber and Australian sandalwood. As she tends the fire and the incense burners day after day. And carried along the trade routes, on the backs of camel's from places, far, far away.

And the combination of these smells and exquisite sensations, is what is bottled in Secret Obsession.

An opulent, floriental that transports you back to another place and time. Sacred AND sublime. Of dusty streets and street bazaars, of hot nights in palace gardens. Roof terraces and of the craving and desire for men who fought like gladiators and women who hide behind veils and ankle bracelets.

The End.

P.s sorry I got so carried away. I couldn't help it xx

All I get is overly sweet floral. I wish this scent had more complexity it seems so boring.

evapap181977

i ve smell this when it was launched..i found it nice but not as nice as the bottle itself...besides obsession ck be and recently reveal..i was not very fond of the perfumes by this house..i prefered its lingerie..anyhow i got this yesterday.mainly because the reviewers i follow in a way of speaking praised it a lot.the price is very low for this so i decided to give this a chance since when i first smell it it didnt bother me at least..it was the right decision.becuse iv already wrote enough i ll just say this.on my skin,to my nose is the twin sister of Feminite du bois by SL only this is much better and mainly longlasting and rounder

Jacquis

This is gorgeous! I cannot believe that I had waited this long to try this perfume. I saw it on every visit to TJMaxx and Marshalls but overlooked it. The reviews were mixed but I should have known better.

I tested an open box sample of Secret Obsession today. Oh my goodness. This is beautiful. Ok, I understand the mixed feelings regarding the opening. The over ripened plum is a little hard to swallow. But, the tuberose and nutmeg and "whatever else that's yummy" kept pulling my nose back to my wrist. It loves and hugs my skin. Oh yes, I want to eat me!

An hour later, it only got better. I need this in my life. Full bottle on the way. I am so sorry Obsession but I have finally unveiled your secret and it's now mine! Glorious!

P.S. Secret Obsession is sweeter in warmer weather. In colder weather, amber is really pronounced.

odorenasum

Oh what a secret we have here !! I discovered this on a blind buy one day and I was hooked ever since. A true secret in hiding ! This is Mother Obsessions's slutty cousin out on the town at night. Her outfit tucked away in a cedar closet, now she's wearing it with pride as she works the bar in search of her unexpecting male suitor. The plum is a very ripe one, almost at the verge of ruin. The florals sweeten up the spicy mix a bit and add depth to this fragrance. The base is really where this nose is at. The cashmere woods, vanilla, burnt amber, and sandalwood all join in harmony to plant this on your warm skin and work its magic. Definitely a cooler weather scent. On a side note, I have read a number of other reviews which included comments about this fragrance being akin to an old wooden drawer or box that contained potpourri or a scented sachet at one point. I couldn't agree more. And by no means is that a detriment to this beauty. It made me really think for a minute and I couldn't explain it better if I tried. This is like a beautiful wooden dresser that, at some point in its' life housed either a fragranced sachet or a spilled bottle of vintage perfume. The mix is spectacular. If you love Obsession, you'll like its' secret !

CupK

Have to agree with the review below unfortunately, I also think the plum is ruining the perfume.

I have a sample and sprayed on paper, immediately it made me think of a boozy sherry like drink.

I don't get any nutmeg or other spicyness just a sour boozz maybe my sample is bad?

BettinaFox

Floral-oriental - nope, it's more oriental-spicy.
Nutmeg and sandalwood are the most dominant.

Yet, PLUM ruins the whole composition. I would like it if plum wasn't there.

What a weird fragrance!!! Smells like an old wooden cabinet where you store your incense and candles.

PastelMoon

For some reason I was remembering Secret Obsession smelling a bit like an old wooden box, a scent I was craving these days, however my organoleptic memory has failed me completely. Said memory has been refreshed by a spray on skin and I wish I only used a paper strip. It comes off as a strange scent that falls somewhere between rotten and dried fruit with an unfortunate faint fecal nuance that somehow also smells a bit like a cheap shampoo. I rarely get strong physical reactions from fragrances but this was one such occasions. I would rather wear the original statement Obsession as this is an utter disappointment - no wonder it rests on a heavily discounted product shelf.

pennyligeia

I expected to dislike this fragrance, but I really like it. It isn't strong as much as it is clean and soapy smelling to me, which I love for day wear.
When I first read about it, I was thinking it would have to be late fall or winter to wear it, but I was wrong about that, too.
It's different, but in a good way. However, it doesn't last long.

olga_adriana

white florals with a touch of nutmeg and sandalwood in the background. i find this really inoffensive, but unusual. i enjoyed it and find it quite versatile. will definitely be wearing this in the fall. a lot less loud than the original obsession.

louiee

For me this is love
An underrated and highly addictive scent.

Nutmeg, amber, sandalwood, plum and cashmeran scent. A hint of sweetness from ylang-ylang and vanilla.

Sexy, warm and seductive without beeing heavy.

For me this is much more wearable and a crowd pleaser than the original ....which I btw also adore.
This little flanker is so much more subtle and inoffensive... but still has a lot of grown up sex appeal to it.

Silage and longevity is a perfect moderate on me.

SniffyLarue

I got this over the holidays at TJMAXX for a really good price, I couldn’t resist as I’m an Obsession fan. First off, this doesn’t smell anything like the original Obsession, so let’s get that out of the way. This is more wearable. I really think people are sleeping on this one. It’s a delicious, sexy, clean smelling, woodsy treasure. What Eva Mendes said about it being like tasting a good food and immediately craving more is appropriate. I smell the plum, the nutmeg, the sandalwood and that’s enough for me to reach for it, especially after a bath, before a night out or a night in, if you get me. ;)
Very sexy perfume, your significant other will be all over you.

Dioguh

This one is a "for two perfume" IMO, i was wearing it on a date and it is the only porpouse that think CK was thinking when they made it. n my skin, its detectable 3 feet lenght, but i can promis you one thing, when your lover is that near you, oh oy, he will crumble. The juice is delicious and quite unique, even a little kinky. Not very loud but the staying power is incredible. I can still smell it on my rain coat that i were 5 nights ago.

letamercy

This is a pleasant surprise from CK.

Overall, quite smooth, creamy, and slightly spicy and woody. Develops better in cold weather IMO. This may sound strange, but I find that if I put on Secret Obsession in the early morning hours (before the sun's rays heat up the air), and let it settle for about 20 minutes before heading out and "exposing" it to somewhat warmer temperatures, the development is much smoother and sexier. Something about letting it settle in the cold makes it so much more enjoyable through the rest of the day.

The nutmeg, mace, tuberose and sandalwood are most prominent for me from beginning to end, with strong support from a jammy plum in the opening, and warm and sensual amber and musk as well as slightly powdery orris in the middle and dry down.

This beauty is really well balanced. Nothing screechy. Everything seems to work in harmony. Perhaps it's this great interaction between the spices, tuberose and sandalwood, as well as the "layered" support of the other notes that give Secret Obsession such a unique and niche feel. Nothing in my wardrobe smells like it.

I would actually consider wearing it on a date due to its unique, mysterious and sexy aura.

Stays pretty close to the skin (I tend to slightly over-spray if I want it to project more.). Lasts over 9 hours on my skin.

Definitely a keeper.

Franzi86B

This perfume is a WOW for me. I don’t know anyone who wears this, and I love that. I don’t like to smell like other people. This is just perfect for a cold and rainy day, I get the nutmeg and jasmin more than the plum!

felicite34

Ok just bought this, got a great deal. The Plum note is WAY stronger than it was voted on the notes on Fragrantica. I normally hate Plum. It reminded me at first of Rihanna Rogue which I gave away because the plum note was so off on my skin.

HOWEVER, this one is very woodsy which balances it. Becomes very soapy pretty quickly. Which is a good thing for me. Like someone said, a very expensive sandalwood soap or something like that. Very comforting. A definitely like as I really like sandalwood.

Really nothing like the original Obsession, which I happen to love. Love this bottle design. Could be unisex for sure.

EDIT: I am really liking this. Longevity is a little lacking, but for the price I got this for, it is a deal. One of my go-to perfumes.

kessyster

Well I know that I've probably said that I wouldn't wear this fragrance again..as I've gave second and third chances before and I couldn't understand this one.

But as I was in a good mood today I've decided after a long time without wearing so I did give another chance.

Yes I decided that is not that bad after all. I liked better this time. Maybe as I have kept away for so long then juice inside ' envolved '. Even my husband liked better this time.

Still not a strong like but not a hate anymore at last.
I wish that should be a 'so so ' option on here.

Nice scent.Warm and cozy. Very suitable for autumn and winter. Not very feminine though. Actually, I think it could be worn by men too, smells unisex. Longevity is about 8 hours but sillage is poor.

gtabasso

the top was beautiful; I wish it stayed there, got lighter and softer and cheaper and more faded; nutmeg, hint of plum, hint of rose, orchid's shrapness, vanilla, lots of sandalwood, hint of tuberose, cashmere and orris to soften and muffle; not powdery or soapy like a vintage but muted as someone said like what a good soap leaves on your skin after a shower

cherelune

This did not quite live up to my expectations. From the description above and some of the reviews, I expected Secret Obsession to be every bit as provocative as its name. However, it wore clean and woody on my skin. I waited for it to develop into something more sensual, but to my nose it was a fresh spicy and soapy scent. An expensive spicy soap, like @Lucyana below said. Not bad at all, just not what I expected.

Mrs. ELE Arjona

Hopefully everyone reading this will hear me out, because my commentary is going to be a bit off the wall. Here goes...I had to ask my Mom to smell this because there was something about my childhood scent memory that was triggered in the top notes. My Grandmother, on my Fathers side, wore a perfume that smelled similar. She recognized it right away as how Grandma smelled when she got dressed up for town (Cattle Ranch/Farmers wife who worked harder than my Grandpa did but boy she cleaned up and could go from Garden to Glam quick). No idea what the fragrance could have been??? So I can understand how a lot of reviewers are smelling this and thinking niche, as it is very different and also slightly old school.
Once it dries down it kinds made me recall the Mens Fragrance Drakkar Noir, but almost like it could have been a Femme version of it. It shares 6 notes, and I think the wormwood/spice (different spices but) is the distinctive note that is making me feel that femme Drakkar Noir vibe. So I would wear this if my Hubs was wearing Drakkar Noir as to compliment him.
All in all I like it! I think for me it will be a fall/winter scent. Its Summer in Florida right now, and I noticed it doesn't have much of a chance to hold up to the heat and humidity. So sillage and performance might not be the best, however I really enjoy Eternity Intense as well. Whatever I'll just respray mid day like I do with the other CK.
This has no citrus note in the top, its woody, spicy, floral, rosey (without the rose killing me) and its starchy powder with the orris. I like that. I think it helps the rose powder tone down to a more starchy quality. I honestly don't recommend blind buying this. It has a distincive note progression, you would want to wear all through to the dry down to know if it was for you. The bottle is really pretty. I got lucky with the blind buy, it works on my skin. I probably would have passed on it if I was doing the traditional scent strip smell in a shop.

Lucyana

Uhh what perfume! I do not know why, but I think of the most expensive spicy soap in the world when i smell it. It's spicy but not like Obsession or Youth Dew. It is much more wearable.

kati77

The fragrance is perfect for rainy days, sweet cashmere, spicy. No dryness. Cozy, nice. Delicate tuberose in the background. No over-dried vanilla is composed in the juice but does not dominate.
There is also plum and sandalwood, it does not dominate but it sets the tone. A balanced composition. Better perfume than any of Si(Armani).

OolongLaLa

This is the perfume that put the fear of tuberose into me. Here, it's listed as one of several middle notes, but on me it's the only note. The scent is pretty, but it wasn't at all what I was expecting or looking for. I think of it more as "gardenia liqueur." (Tuberose smells like gardenia on me). There is a very clear, realistic, strong gardenia note on my skin, but it's subtly enriched by something else. It may be amber because it's ever so slightly sweet. Again, this is lovely, but not remotely "me."

joliecat

The first time I tried this it was a scrubber for me. The heavy extremely bitter wormwood in the base came blasting out and wouldn't go away. It was nasty bitter.

The next day, I tried this scent again. The bitter wormwood behaved nicely, staying far into the background. Plums and nutmeg were prominent for one hour, reminding me of spiced wine. Then tuberose bloomed for the next hour as the entire scent faded to a soft skin scent, slightly powdery. For the next 3 hours, I could only smell it if I pressed my nose into my skin. This perfume became very inoffensive, good for office wear during the dry down.

I don't find this scent sexy on my skin, though I can understand how some people would on their skin. It's unique enough for me to enjoy for a short time. I have many other perfumes I prefer to this one, so I'm willing to swap my 99% full bottle in box. I'm sure it will work better on someone else.

Midnight Lady

Mace, nutmeg, rose and plum – it’s all there once I spray it on my skin. Smells masculine, spicy, interesting. The plum becomes sweeter every second, ripen juicy fruit note. Then again the sweetness fades away a bit and spices become to play the main role supported by white floral notes , rose and tender amber.

To me this is absolutely unisex fragrance that has a vintage touch to it - in fact I would love to smell this on a man. It smells very complex and unique. Not really my cup of tea, but hats off to this well blended perfume.

Spicy, rather warm, fall and winter suitable.

Mbroster77

For me, this fragrance is just “ok” I do get a hint of something like maybe Crystal Noir, but just a hint. This frag tends to be more cold and bitter on me, not so cold that I dislike it but cold enough that I don’t love it. I was hoping it would be more complex than it is.

aqua76239

I will be honest-i regularly make excursions to places like Ross and TJ Maxx to see if they have anything worth buying. This was the only possible choice and after quickly checking reviews on here, i decided "the hell with it" and bought it blind. Oy. clearly, I learn nothing.

What intrigued me was the note listing of tuberose and orange blossom. Those two are notes that I either love deeply or hate with a passion. This one I think its leaning towards love. Its a very unique scent and I LIKE unique. The plum note opening is intriguing and i was wondering if I will be stuck with plum sort of oriental type scent. Nope. After little while, orange blossom, jasmine and more importantly, tuberose, make an appearance. And then it hit me-Crystal Noir. I do this a lot-think which scent reminds me of which other scent-and Crystal Noir has some strong similarities. SO is stronger, spicier and has sort of almost medicinal note, kind of incensy. Anyhoo, one downfall of this I could see is that I could barely smell it on it. But i figure, I will give it few good sprays and see what happens. Few hours later, my husband is picking me up and says "i think i need to open car window, i can smell you"
Me"smell my perfume?"
him"no, its your own scent, but smells kind of musky. Not bad but its too much in closed car"
me"holding my wrist under his nose"
him"oh...i guess it IS the perfume"

lmao
I still like this scent but clearly, i should have used a lighter hand. Its Dark, incensy, plummy goodness with hint of tuberose. Not for wall flowers, this is for one sexy grown woman

I still remember last fall when I decided to order a perfume for the cold season and I ordered CK secret obsession almost by chance. In fact I had smelled it very quickly in a perfume shop before and I had found it very different from all the perfumes there. But After ordering I checked Fragrantica and I realized that it has a strong Tuberose note in it which I have always disliked since my childhood. So when the perfume arrived I was so skeptical about it. It was early autumn and the weather was still warm here in my country, I sprayed it and I hated it so much that I decided to get rid of it immediately. I found it very strong, ugly and out of date. So I put it aside until in a snowy day in winter I remembered that I had still this bottle and I sprayed it on one of my cloths and continued my work. and....after 30 minutes I started wondering: where is that divine smell coming from? I could not even guess that it was the perfume that I hated so much before and the smell was becoming better and better by time and stayed more than 1 day on my cloth. Yes I fell in love.

I just cannot get enough of this perfume. It is the best perfume in my collection at the moment and this year is the second winter that I am wearing it and I get tons of complements from everybody especially men every time I wear it.

CK secret obsession is simple but sophisticated , womanly and feminine but strong, not boring at all, classy, warm, unique, soft but bold at the same time and absolutely sexy and erotic .It is not a mainstream perfume, it does not smell like others it has its own character and is definitely an underrated perfume.

I recommend it not for girls but for women. You also should like classics to enjoy it the most. I think men also can wear it since it has a unisex quality to it. I also strongly suggest that you wear it in winter , I believe this beauty only suits very cold weather, otherwise you will find it overwhelming like I did, and do not forget to put it on with a light hand.

Secret Obsession

I bought my first bottle on the eve of my 20th birthday and it has been a staple and favorite of mine ever since. On my skin it's a very thick and aromatic blend of Plum, Nutmeg, Sandalwood with a beautiful bed of Tuberose laced with an occasionally 'sweaty' amber/musk duo. I do acknowledge that this fragrance can be quite polarising and tempermental, it definitely likes to take on a life of it's own and do it's own thing, but I love that about it- it's almost like i become submissive to the will of the fragrance, which also adds to the 'erotic nature' that I would personally attach to this fragrance because I do find it very sexy and different because it is unlike the other modern offerings from Calvin Klein. I haven't had any issues with the performance, it lasts all day on my skin, clings to my clothes for weeks (or months), it's definitely not for everyone but if you do happen to encounter this fragrance- give it a sniff.

M.Golightly

It is a cold damp and wet day in London....and it is this sort of day wherein I wish am somewhere in the tropics, or the crazy markets of India, temples of Cambodia....heat, incense, spice.....

I love wearing my oriental fragrances during autumn and winter because it keeps me warm. I just discovered Secret Obsession and it definitely has an oriental core. I can detect tuberose and plum on the first two hours and dries down to amber and sandalwood which stays very close to the skin. Dies down after 4-6 hours. This fragrance reminds me of the markets of India where spice, incense and floral fragrances are everywhere.

As a rule regarding Oriental fragrances is to apply with subtlety to appreciate the fragrance more. At times, over indulgent application can turn any fragrance into a repellent scent.

Having bought this a short while ago. I've only ever worn it 3 times, and unfortunately on each occasion being told that I was not smelling particularly good, my manager telling me he could smell strong body odour from me, sadly this was the scent I was wearing that day. Whilst another friend told me I smelt "disgusting", however she is extremely sensitive to fragrances.

However I personally LOVE the woody spiciness that I get from it.

Hopefully others have had much better responses to this perfume.

carolyn.parker

I have never worn Obsession the women's perfume so for me this was a blind buy and a beautiful surprise. I'm not sure if I want to get the orignal Obsession. To me the ads were so sexualized that it turned me off. I'm rather conservative and prefer lady like soapy clean fresh floral scents and the occasional Oriental spicy woody smoky musk. This is a modern 'niche' type of scent. It has very little to do with the original Obsession or the one for men which are classified as Orientals. First of all I adore the bottle. Looks like a piece of sculptured art or a genie bottle.

AS it opens it's a sweet plum fruit juice. Smells like a deep plum. It blends beautifully with the rose which can sometimes smell like deep plums. This is a jammy plummy rose opening which I really love. It has none of the typical citrusy opening top notes that most perfumes have. Eventually it turns into a spicy floral. I detect nutmeg and jasmine, narcotic sweet tuberose and orchid. The florals are wonderful!

The dry down is amber and incense. The sandalwood and cedar woodsy note give it a somewhat unisex vibe. I think the wood notes are lovely. Finally there's vanilla which becomes a kind of vanilla powder. I think the powder effect is the orris root. So generally I like it. The wood and incense is not too strong and would be welcomed by Oriental fans. The downside and I'm sure everyone who's tried it will concur - the weakness and sillage and length. This lasts no longer than 2 hours at most 3 which is such a disappointment. It smells so beautiful and I wish it could last longer all day in fact or at least 8 hours. But gone are the days when fragrances were complex heavier and longer lasting. I will have to deal with it I suppose.

Great fall and winter holidays scent!

Timmyheather

I enjoy all the individual components that make up this fragrance, and I enjoy the concept of it. It softens and turns a bit fruity on my skin, amping up the plum as it dries, and maintaining a good spiced balance. But there is just something, some note that feels ‘perfumey” to me, and that’s what prevents me from truly enjoying every aspect of wearing this perfume. I’m debating whether I should just keep my bottle for the moments when it does appeal, or pass it on to someone who will appreciate it better than I can.

EDIT: I’ve discovered that layering this perfume with something that amps up the vanilla note really smooths away the jagged ‘perfumey’ note that was a distraction. I prefer a woody, less sweet vanilla, so I paired it with Derek Lam’s Something Wild. I am SO GLAD I didn’t give this perfume away, because it had something unique and special to add to my collection.

Perfumeaddict777

I finally tried secret obsession thanks to pepperjune;) I really like this. For a cheap perfume it's pretty complex! At first blast it reminds me of sensuous noir. I don't know why but it does. Within minutes the plum and tuberose are most dominant. The plum is ripe and juicy. The tuberose is slightly sour and it's warmed up by Amber and sandlewood. Next the mace comes out. The spicy peppery type note. It's a warm intoxicating fragrance that dries down to a soapy rose and ylang ylang on my skin. Sillage is moderate and becomes soft within 20 min. But still noticeable to others in Close proximity. Longevity is sadly 3 hours but for the price I will gladly respray!

brightskye

I'm sad to say that my 7 year old daughter thinks this smells like spaghetti. I do not. This one is a little less feminine than I like, less so than Obsession the original, but is still lovely as it wears.

mapache

At first spray I get the woods/spices..then the florals emerge. The drydown,on me, is when I get the light tuberose effect. This was a surprise LIKE,due to the fact that this has very mixed reviews. To me, it is not a "strong" fragrance...very moderate at best. After the initial spray,it basically becomes linear and does not "change" develope any further. I rate this as a nice scent.I see nothing to remind me of original Obsession, which is ok.I own original Obsession for that...lol.
Something about this keeps me sniffing my wrists, so not bad at all.

Annalisa12

The bottle is beautiful but I do not like the fragrance at all. It does initially smell like Coca-Cola. I would never rebuy this or recommend it to anyone.

clgiles888

I understand the initial cola blast - but that in itself gives this a happy comfortable fizzy minute - followed by the comfort of the nutmeg, cashmere and tuberose. I love it. This is the soft fuzzy scarf you'll always reach for and you'll wear this one for you, not for anyone else. It asks to be worn in colder weather yet I can't resist that "ice cold soda" feeling in the summer. I'll wear it whenever the mood strikes, and it will be often. Another CK winner!!

fire2heart

_christine_ and deb.martinez hit the nail on the head!

This is good stuff and never should have been a flanker.

Spicy, yet floral. It's not a sillage bomb but it does project. The drydown is amazing, soft and a little powdery.

When I wear it I feel fancy and comforted.

MikiRae

Wow! What an interesting scent. I also find this very 'niche' smelling, reminiscent of something you would expect from Serge Lutens I imagine. I am really impressed. It is very woody and dry, definitely unisex IMHO. Sillage and longevity are moderate on me. I like it, a lot. Definitely an autumn, winter fragrance. Highly recommend if you like a woody oriental vibe.

Pimpernell

How is this possible? An Eau de Parfume that lasts for half an hour and then ........ nothing! No traces, not even as a skin scent.

CoolBreezes

A warm, rich fragrance which on my skin amplifies plum, nutmeg and amber with a bit of sandalwood to keep it dry and balanced. I don't get a hint of any flowers. It has the same vibe as vintage Givenchy's Indecence. Then after 10 hours it turns to incense on my skin with a 1 foot trail. The dry down reminds me of Mecheri's Oliban, a rich incense, and I keep smelling my arm as I walk home. This fragrance combines many personal favorites, and it was perfect on a cool foggy day at the shore. Somehow, it does feel nostalgic but doesn't bring up any specific memories...very here and now. I would wear this with a soft sweater, trousers, and leather boots. It would be divine at a campfire. It is rather bewitching. :)

Simply put, it smells really good and not too many people are wearing it!

TsarinaM

This perfume is True Love for me.
It is sophisticated. It is classy. It smells very expensive. It is dynamic. It is animalic, woody, musky, dusky perfection. I'm in love.

God Bless You!!!

cpharr13

HOLY CRAP! This is delicious. Dirty. Sweaty. Delicious and sweet goodness. It's everything I wanted Halston by Halston to be. A 70's treat. This smells like I just stumbled out of Studio 54 at 6am with my bleached out Blondie hair do sweated out, still high on sequins and blow, with my strappy platforms pumps in my hand. It's deep, rich, mysterious. Its been on my want list for two years and I've ignored it like a discolored mole. Such a pitty but I own it now!!! Christine below me was dead on when she said if this was made by YSL it would be extremely loved. It's amazing what a little spice will do to a white floral. It's like a when a good girl gets her heart broke by a "bad boy" ... That's CK Secret Obsession!

_christine_

Poor Secret Obsession. It's a well made, very French perfume that was incorrectly branded as an Obsession flanker.

Obsession and Secret Obsession on share two notes: rose and jasmine, but those notes are ubiquitous across many perfumes. The coriander spiciness that defines the heart of Obsession is completely missing in the Secret Obsession.

Secret Obsession has its own woodsy/floral charms and it's a shame Secret Obsession never found its audience. People looking for an Obsession flanker were (correctly) disappointed. People looking for a French floral never even noticed it. If this had come out from Molinard or Caron or YSL this would have been a huge hit.

Holli

Soapy sandalwood and airy spices are what I get from this. Balanced. Hot. Some sharpness. A little bit of a sexy hairspray vibe. Pretty bottle. Wish the top wasn't plastic. CK doesn't go wrong for me very often. I love that they know how to pack a punch but still have an airy transparent quality.

Babygia

Absolutely unique and sophisticated fragrance, actually an underrated gem from CK. I thinh, his misfortune was, it came from such mainsteam house. It is very niche and very french scent, not easy to wear, it needs a very light hand, otherwise it can be suffocating and overbearing. Sparingly sprayed it is a really chrming spice/incense/tuberose heaven. This scent is very contemporary, and i wonder, for today all incencsy frags are such en vogue, why ist this abandoned beauty still almost forgotten.
And folks- Coca Cola, seriously ?????? No way !!!!

jamiehammond1980

I really like this fragrance because out of my whole collection there isn't one that has any combination of notes that remind me of this I don't get Coca-Cola note just a dark jasmine pepperd with white floral. I get the plum and sandalwood but not as strong as I would like and also the staying power could be better. I give it a 7/10 x

I wore it today, giving a second chance. And what I find out is that actually got a good silage, but my husband, after over 2 hours I had applied this perfumer told me how much he dislike as well and he find too strong. I rather have a perfume that my husband like. And I even didn't apply much! Only spray a couple times in my neck and in my arms like I normally do with my others fragrances. So this one is not my favourite at all.

kessyster

When I sniffed for the first time I kinda like it. But when I wore for the first time I find a bit overwhelming. I am not so sure about this one. Strangely I can sense a strange ' coca-cola or something rather smell. Did made me tired of it only for the first time I wore it. So I shall not buy this one again. Didn't work for me but probably can work in another person. I bought at the same time a Marilyn Monroe fragrance ( shame not here in this website for me to give a review)..anyway..is called " How to Marry a Millionaire". I did love the first time I sniffed..is a very comforting smell..and a familiar smell for me. Didn't wear yet as they didn't had a sample so a blind buy but managed to sniff outside the bottle and smells really nice!

Edit: The other fragance that I have mentioned above ( " How to Marry a Millionaire ") is actually better than I thought! I am looking for buy another bottle.

Siv7Stars

A very cheap blind buy. I was looking for something in the same vein as Yves Saint Laurent Nu, lots of spice. This is nice but it's like cola chupa chups :)
The bottle is stunning, like a moorish spacecraft, but the cap is annoyingly loose.

lesecretforme

I don't get the grape or cola type scent that some have mentioned. I get plum, tuberose, spices, vanilla, and ambery woods. It's gorgeous on my skin and I love the bottle sitting on my vanity table.

PaulaDB

I purchased Secret Obsession in a set of smaller perfumes, and it is an Eau De Parfum. It has been a curious scent to me for some time, and to this day I am not sure what I think of it. Like some others, I wanted this to work for me so badly, but I am just not sure. I think I like it, more than it likes my chemistry.

I have worn this only at very particular times, when I am in a particular mood or when traveling. It seemed like a great, unique scent that is something different, that would be great worn to dinner when there are drinks and appetizers being served.

I get what people are saying when they say it has a boozy kind of smell, and I don't care for that. I don't care for the first half hour of this scent for sure. Its just too strong on some note for me. When it tones down I can still smell it and its a dry and powdery kind of note. I would love it to smell more like nutmeg than it does to me, and plum as well. I get an intense smell that I cannot place exactly. So unfortunately, it may not be for me long term. I have enjoyed it some here and there, but never loved it on me.

Finally, I asked my husband his thoughts, and he said it smells like it can't make up its mind if its a very young or very old scent. He thinks it smells almost cheap. I know this is probably just on me, with my chemistry. I wish it worked well for me, because I wanted to love it and love the idea of the notes together, and the sexy looking bottle. Happy for those that it shines on!

jamiehammond1980

am in love with this one but like alot of calvin kleins its no power house. so could someone please let me in on which calvin kleins are gems i have original obsession but would like to know which of the nice calvin kleins are eluding me and i trust my fellow fragranticans you've never steered me wrong yet it can be perfume or cologne so please pm me and let me in on your own CK gems. thanks guys. peace and good things to you all. jamie xx

meow_83

I am a fool! This was a blind but researched T.J. Maxx buy. Tonight I publicly declare my personal ban on blind buys. Secret Obsession is so not me.

Secret Obsession features heavy tuberose. In the last year I discovered the joys of tuberose through Truth or Dare, La Vie La Mort, and, on a smaller scale, Nirvana Bourbon. Here the tuberose is mixed with woods, spices, and plum resulting in some sort of dark 80s cola perfume. After about 20 minutes I caught the essence of Poison. This was the plum coming forth. It makes perfect sense considering tuberose and plum are some of the most noticeable notes in both fragrances. Sigh. I want to tell you that Calvin Klein kind of impressed me with this perfume. It's much more complex and ambitious than any of CK's more recent creations. It's just so hard to give those props when I'm sad about wasting $20.

For the record, I read so many of your reviews and found that Secret Obsession lovers and I often share top five favorites. I thought I would agree with the Secret Obsession enthusiasts instead of the reviewer who said it smelled like a root beer float. I also thought I'd be getting a spicy oriental like the original Obsession or Opium. Nope. Secret Obsession is a major 80s throwback oriental FLORAL. I hope I have saved at least one reader from making the same mistake I did.

vanillaandorange

I had this for a while and could never quite make up my mind about it. In theory I should love it, but there was something in it that smelt very obtrusive and I never quite got used to, possibly the plum, which is not a a note I've ever worn much. (I once also had a cheapish Avon perfume with plum in it and had the same feeling that it somehow didn't settle down on me, it was always "in my face".) I liked the spicy, mysterious elements of it and used it sometimes as a "going out" perfume, especially if I was dressed in dark colours, as it seems quite a dark scent to me, but it never quite felt "me" and I probably won't get it again. Probably a very good choice for someone who definitely gets on with plum!

Soofiya

I'm really late to the party,I know, but late better than never,I received a sample of secret obsession in a swap, bottle is gorgeous, also note list,I really don't know why I didn't have high expectations..so I sprayed it carelessly..as soon as I got a whiff of this gorgeous spicy oriental floral,I knew that I need a full bottle ASAP
I love tuberose as a flower, but in perfumes it mostly overpowers everything else, still I like tuberose dominant fragrances, but it can bore me soon,so I should apply them not that offen(I have such a feeling towards jasmine dominant scents too)
Secret obsession is one of rare perfumes that tuberose and jasmine don't overpower other notes, they stand aside and bloom softly and add their magical aura to the combination heavenly, dominant scent to my nose is a warm, rich, deep combination of plum, nutmeg, creamy sandalwood, sweet amber and a hint of that magical soft tuberose
For me,this combination is amazing, lovely and somehow nostalgic
Darkness of spicy plum and brightness of creamy florals and sandalwood,is a work of art
Long-lasting,feminine,sweet and comforting in a spicy, mature way,,this is something I was looking for it for ages
❤❤❤❤❤
2nd review :now I'm a happy owner of this gem,I loooove it,calvin klein has lots of lovely, unique scents with reasonable prices, amazing!
I've not tested original obsession yet,but this is lush, soft but strong
It opens with a spicy plum, then florals kick in,dry down is to die for, sweet, warm and creamy amber, vanilla and woods,it's not a flat scent like many moderns, and each stage of it is beautiful
Secret obsession is definitely a fall and winter fragrance, but in even enjoy wearing it in such a breezy summer night
Decent longevity and sillage, chic bottle and packaging, highly recommend to oriental floral lovers
3rd review :
As you see I used to love this fume.unfortunately just wearing it twice made me change my mind,I still like it and even can't find out the problem.I think I can appreciate it better after couple of years
❤❤❤

UnearthlyApothecary

This is a tuberose/ white floral I can handle. The woods and spice make it richer and tone it done some. It makes the tuberose a little "meatier" but thank goodness it's muted and only makes the scent interesting. This is a very wearable flanker for those that find original Obsession to be too much. I still prefer the original but this nice and can be added to a very short list of wearable white florals for me.

*_Lilly_*

OK. I finally opened this last night and was pleasantly surprised :)
It's a creamy, cozy, soft and warm scent. I immediately and almost all through the scent, smell tuberose and it's gentle but delicious. I sprayed this on my arm last night before bed and when I reached around my youngest son to kiss and hug him good night he said " Mmm what is that, it smells good" :)
I do smell nutmeg but not like I thought I would in my head according to the reviews/description. The votes of sandalwood being very prominent is not the case with me, luckily, well maybe a teeny bit in dry down but tuberose takes the stage here for me more. It's a any time of year scent I think. I do not at all think this is masculine. If you prefer florals or sugary sweet tropical scents then this may not be for you. This is a def. Oriental! The only disappointment with this one is that first blast of yum does not last very long :( and the longevity is very weak. I cannot think of anything I have to compare this too... I will keep this!! :D

*_Lilly_*

So, I just picked this up tonight because I rarely see this around and I am afraid to open it to smell because the reviews are SO mixed!! It was the only one and unfortunately unlike all the other stores I shop at, Marshalls will not allow returns once opened... I do love vanilla orientals but I see that sandalwood stands out in this one, I am perplexed! Do I open or return lol Aaahhhh!!!
I love Boyfriend, I had and enjoyed Obsession back in the day, I love Opium and I love Dior Addict. What to do, what to do :P

nettoyant

Secret is amber and sandal rich, slightly spicy, a little nutty and soapy orris. Pretty sure any fan of the amazing original CK Obsession for women could love this as well, just beprepared for a much more subtle scent.

Many reviews mention rose, I get none. I think it's the spice combination not rose they are sensing.

joenick68

Giving it a first try, layered with eau de cartier orange, and I do like it but yeah the secret obsession is killing eau de cartier without remorse... Yes I am a man wearing this secret obsession, since I love the original obsession, men and women, and this is quite distinct fromt the other two, is love and hate on a battle, and a bottle, lol.
It really needs a longer review, but may update it later..

bdaughertyamd

This perfume is a not so secret obsession of mine. I adore this perfume. I have been wearing it every day and I just bought my second bottle. There is something in this perfume that is completely addicting! In my opinion, it's a sexy cinnamon musky scent. The sillage is decent enough to last most of the day but if I feel like it's toning down, I will spray this heavenly juice again! I wish this kept the "in your face" attitude all day but I love it just the same! If you haven't tried this perfume yet, I would definitely add it to your list. This is a musky type comfort perfume so if your not into that, it may not be for you.

Blacknumber1

This fragrance does zilch for me. It is horrid with my skin chemistry. I am willing to swap for an equal volume bottle of something else. Inbox me your offer.

danieq

Though this doesn't have coconut, I feel like this offers a soft, beachy floral vibe. It's very nice, though not something I would say is super unique. For the price, it's a good, comfortable scent. Absolutely nothing in common with the original Obsession, honestly, I can't see why they called it Obsession at all.

mindcaviar

This is my first review on this site. I am compelled to tell someone that Secret Obsession is the worst fragrance I have ever experienced. I had high hopes for it. It was my first blind purchase. I love all Calvin Klein fragrances. In fact I launched several in the 80s. Obsession was my signature fragrance for decades and always drew compliments from strangers as well as friends. This EDT is chaos on a stick. I cannot describe any one note. It just blasted out like a foghorn, smelled like crap and stuck to me like tar. I literally smelled some animal dung in there along with a petrochemical scent mixed with leaves and twigs and food and flowers and a bit of bile in the throat. I could not get the scent off me fast enough. I couldn't even wait for the dry down. I have never scrubbed a fragrance so diligently, only to be reminded for an entire day that I'd sprayed dung-like perfume Frankenstein chaos on a stick all over my wrist and forearm. I think I may be traumatized! (j/k about being traumatized. Ok, maybe not joking!) hahaha At any rate, this was my experience. Others find it lovely. makes me wonder if we tried the same fragrance.

Sasco

Nice! Don't really understand all the hate for this - it's an inoffensive oriental; an 'oriental-lite' if you like, and I actually find it really wearable and pretty! First blast gives me a 'Jack 'n Coke' vibe, which dissipates to allow the creamy tuberose (and I have recently discovered that I LOVE tuberose) to bloom on the skin. I get just a hint of nutmeg which gives it that wonderful, warm, spicy glow. If, like me, you're a bit wary of orientals, but want to give them a try, this is a great 'paddling in the shallow end' scent. My male friend described it as 'really sexy without being too powerful'. And I got it for £13! The other bonus is tht, as it has slipped off the mainstream perfume radar a bit, not many people are wearing it.

EDIT: after wearing this for a few days, I did begin to notice a slight soapiness to the dry-down, which a couple of other reviewers have mentioned - and which I found a little off-putting, as I was hoping for a bit more warmth. I guess this is why it is categorised as 'fresh spicy', rather than 'warm spicy' - and it's the latter I'm trying to find! Still a 'like' for me, though, and I'll definitely finish the bottle!

Esztee

I love all the notes one by one. All together it's just plain wrong. My friend had this as signature scent for years . When she started working at a restaurant she was asked not to wear it to work as it was off putting for customers. Glory glory hallelujah she changed her signature scent since and I don't have to smell it any more. Unfortunately I have a 50 ml bottle that was gifted to me by my boyfriend.....

epiphany

Opens with a creamy, soft tuberose - not strong or raging, like many of my favourite tuberose scents but soft and comforting. Then the nutmeg comes to the fore - a soft, spicy tone to ground the floral. Jasmine & rose finally make their appearance on the dry down with just a touch of spice & sandalwood to bring it all together. I get no plum or fruity notes from this...just a very agreeable, wearable, spicy floral.

kiristarr

Almost the same syrupy, boozy, woody plum as Boyfriend on me. Buy Secret Obsession for $19.99 USD/100 mL, rather than Boyfriend for $100 USD/15 mL or whatever ridiculous price it goes for now.

I was given a mini of this by the lovely joannad and find it lightly spiced, warm, unobtrusive and quite simply lovely. I'm not sure about all the negative reviews, it just goes to show how different all our body chemistries and noses are, cos on me, this could be "Freak Lite". Although the notes are different completely to Freak, these are in the same family to my nose. I think it's the sandalwood and nutmeg that mimic some of the deadlier flowers named in Freak's ingredient list. But back to SO, it hints more at a feminine version of the male Obsession than having anything to do with CK's original Obsession for females. This is light, warm, unusual, spiced sandalwoody goodness in a bottle.

hdmc_2000

Just got it and then I gave it away....not at all what I was hoping for. Not rich or warm..just a strong sandalwood floral type of scent on me. If it works for you..great. There must be different types of sandalwood. Some smell wonderful...others are very sharp on me. Oh well...Ill keep looking for my rich warm signature scent. :(

hyperfluff

This scent makes me feel like an undercover seductress; Enigmatic, exotic...unattainable, except to whom she chooses. It smells like wealth, forbidden night-time escapades and fine black lingerie. Like warmth, romance and unbridled passions hidden behind a silent, serious exterior. I feel like I need to be wearing black when I wear this scent...anything black, heels, cascading dark locks, and tasteful gold jewelry...dressed down with ripped skinny jeans or dressed up with a pencil skirt, doesn't matter. For summer nights and fall days. It's a July-November perfume for me. Rich in nutmeg, amber, white florals and sandalwood. At times I feel like it smells very soapy, like tuberose soap, spice, and clean, warm skin. I enjoy that deep, spiced soapiness in SO, I personally find it very cozy, yet elegant, and yet, also very sensuous and sultry, all at once. Has an early 90's, retro feel to it...thanks to the nutmeg-tuberose-plum combo I guess. Though it does lack the sillage-monster quality of those 90's frags...thank goodness, because I like the moderate sillage of this one, I would be nauseated if it were any louder. I love it on me, but I would love to smell this on a guy as well, it could be unisex. The only con for me is that it disappears after 3-4 hours (spraying on my clothes and hair does help), and I hesitate to respray because it opens harshly, it takes atleast 15 minutes for the scent to properly 'bloom' on my skin. Nevertheless, still worth owning, it's sold cheap these days, there's nothing else quite like it out there, and you'll never smell this on the masses.

georgetaylor

One of the worst fragrances I have ever tried. Smells awful and lasts a long time.

KarlekLila

Nilu a summer scent for you? I'm surprised.. I would've thought it was more suited to autumn weather. Now I must try this in the heat of July!

Nil3

Ok.
From ALL the perfumes I owned, tried and experienced in my life , never EVER was
I surprised by any perfume the way I was with this one.

OMG, people! What a pleasant pleasant surprise. Obsession from CK? Forget it! Don't even compare in ur minds. This is a whole different territory. I can't believe im saying this, but.... This pretty much will be worn by me during spring and summer. It has a fresh/warm vibe I can't quiet explain. The orange blossom and mace dominate on my skin the way it always does. But with the rest of the notes being the back up singers this one is a winner.

It is a clean, fresh scent on me. And like Eva Mendez mentioned ' you want more of it once you sprayed it.' It is an obsession actually and quiet frankly a 'Secret Surprise' as well.

I'm impressed.

nancyjoyl

This goes well with my warm autumn chemistry the scent is warm sweet and punchy not so much my summer chemistry for some reason it's just ugh overpowering

ImissQuant

The opening is boozy woody, and hints of nutmeg for around half an hour then quickly followed by a tuberose dominated floral blend that stays linear until it dries completely into a single woody note, cashmere wood. All other notes listed I could not distinguish. If these notes were singers in a band I would compare them to back up singers with their microphone volumes turned down too low, they are faintly heard; all I hear is lead singer tuberose.

I don't sense robustness or full body nor depth.
Sillage is moderate and quickly turns into a very faint skin scent. Overall longevity is barely 2 hours. Tests were performed with one full spray on pulse points. I had to spray a lot to test; this is one thing I never did with a CK perfume before. Little dabs of anything CK was all I ever needed to know its presence; this time it is different. In terms of depth and longevity for an EDP, this is remarkably not like the Calvin Kleins I used to know, it could not even be today's drugstore body mist. I'll try to test again next season and if there is any change I will update...

I loved the CK Obsession that my mom gave me back in '86. Those days everyone had a CK of some type, the CK's were beautiful beasts; intense, deep. A little dab was all that was needed and you're good to go for the entire day.

Kristina25

Hmm, either my nosebuds(!?) have changed or my skin has because this is growing on me. The horribly synthetic tuberose infused Dr Pepper that I spritzed on and scrubbed violently away when it came out is now a nutmeg and sandalwood potion with some delicate tuberose of the Amarige variety lying underneath. There's a lot of hate for this one but maybe it just needs a few tries. That or its very picky with who it's sprayed on!

ggabriella

This is to weak for me. Maybe is my chemistry ... Don't know why but its just vanishing in 10 minutes. Disappointed

ScarlettX

A strong aromatic and balsamic scent! Lots of sandalwood, amber and nutty notes.
Woody and spicy notes are overwhelming in this one. Pinches my nose, way too strong.
Not for me.

LaviniaMidnight

I was really intrigued with the scent combination in this one and got a big tester bottle for 15 dollars and change. Sadly this one didn't agree with my chemistry, I smell like Jack Daniels whiskey. Even my oldest son thought I smelled like booze, and not in a particularly pleasant way. Maybe it was an old bottle, but I'm not intrigued enough to try again. I passed it on to my mother as she seems to be able to wear these kinds better than I do.

jamiehammond1980

This for me is just heaven I am no expert on notes but this is by far the best obsession in the range and when I wear this it warms me from head too toe beautiful for cold winter days and cuddling up with that special someone on a chilly evening 10 out of 10 for me. Yummy!

Shivana

There is a woman at my work who wears this quite frequently, and it smells divine. She is always complimented on this fragrance and when she walks by you catch a whiff of a warm, exotic and oriental scent that is just amazing.

I recently passed another woman in the shopping centre wearing the most incredible scent. When I asked what she was wearing, her answer was "Secret Obsession".

Well, I have owned Secret Obsession myself for around 3 years. Each time I wear it, I end up having to wash it off. I've been very patient with it too. I get none of what happens on these ladies. On me, it is dry and very masculine. There is a single note of something (no idea what) that burns through so predominantly, that I get no complexity either.

If you can wear this scent, I am deeply envious.... because I know it can be stunning on the right chemisty.

RaggedyAnne

I gave my CK Obsession away because it was too strong for me, and a friend told me to try Secret Obsession, that it was much nicer than Obsession...
I bought a 3ml sample of this and I absolutely love it, and intend to buy a bigger bottle of it.....It sort of makes me want to try the original Obsession again too....I was once a 100% floral person, but now I am getting into oriental blends and to me this is lovely.

pretty mini collector

What I wanted this to be: cinnamon, clove, orange, ginger, white floral, musk, sandalwood, mace.

What I got: mace

OMG you guys, so much mace!!! Which is good in a recipe for a little kick, but not good in a perfume! Does it evolve? I don't know! I've been wearing for a couple hours, and still only smell mace.

Why, Calvin Klein??? Why?!?!

Update: I am trying this again. This time, I used a very light spray on my wrists, none on clothing. I don't know if I still had some Cabotine left on my skin or what, but this time I can smell other notes, not just mace. Don't get me wrong, the mace is still prominent, but tonight, this is absolutely wearable and before, it was not.

Moral of the story: this is a skin scent. Do not, under any circumstance, spray on your clothing. You will have a bad time.

Available for trade.

There is a note in this (maybe the nutmeg?) that turns into dill on me. Not pickle juice, but the dillweed. I can detect warm spices, wood and a little bit of jasmine, but that dill smell just ruins it for me. Longevity, sillage and projection are above average, but I don't think smelling like a pickle all day works for me. I wish I could figure out what note it is, so I can avoid it.

Gave it to my mom. It suits her much better. No dill on her :)

takeasniff

I was wearing this the other day and it kept reminding me of something not the same but similar vibe. For me it was Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Emeralds. The Diamonds and Emeralds is a little more traditional old school but still has the sweet smoothness that the Obsession has for me both similar feeling. If either one is over sprayed it just ruins them but if used with a light spray from a short distance they settle really nicely. I have worked out if something has tuberose or gardenia in it for me it needs to have a sweetness as well so Secret Obsession has the added plum which makes it perfect for me. I like Diamonds and Emeralds but find it can lack the dark sweetness that I want.

Secret Obsession lasted all day for me but it became less complex and more sweet and smooth with a bit of a musky dry down. Not stale or unpleasant but not a complex result. It reminded me of Kate Moss Luxury Edition with it's smooth, musky sweetness there was no spice left in it. It also reminds me of Kim Kardashian Gold because it is a sweet, musky and could be slightly masculine on some type of mixture.

I can understand the comments about it smelling like cough syrup or medicine when it is first sprayed it does have trouble knowing where it wants to go and in its case I think skin chemistry decides which way it goes. I like the way it goes on me maybe people think I smell like medicine but I don't care because I enjoy it. It really has to be tested a blind buy is not a good idea unless you can find it very cheap or maybe just get a sample for a couple of bucks but do try it because it could be a hidden gem for you.

Yurpdod

The onset of Secret Obsession is really strong and chaotic, but the drydown is very appealing. The woodsy notes settle in with the floral notes, smelling warm, sexy, and complex. I smell mostly tuberose, nutmeg, amber, and woods. The tuberose is very heady and deep, and nutmeg has a sharp herbal quality that prevents the tuberose from hogging the spotlight. Secret Obsession is very va-va-voom and attention-grabbing. The richness of this scent could easily become tiresome if over-sprayed. Secret Obsession is probably not something women would reach for very often, as it is sexy and alluring to a degree that many women would be uncomfortable with. It's a nice scent, although I think there are better examples of the mid-2000s trend of deep-sexy-complex florals, such as Black Orchid, Ange ou Demon, or Euphoria. Beautiful bottle and packaging, though.

I don't know why I ever swapped this! I want it bk so bad! :-(

pravda48

Huh, I don't get all the dislike! This was LOVE on 1st wear for me; it's what I wanted Feminite du Bois (Lutens') to be.

THE SCENT: opens with a boozy spiced plum (& yes, for a single second it smells like you popped a Coca-Cola, nice!). Very dark plum skin concentrate, sweet warm nutmeg, & I thought 'cinnamon, another warm spice w/ a small delicious hint of skank'. Turns out that last bit is the mace + amber, mmmm. I don't noticed 'mace' as anything odd, just another facet of cinnamon/nutmeg-ness.

As it settles down a bit it has a smooth creamy quality beneath the warm spices and plum: sandalwood, mostly. Maybe the slightest hint of tuberose, very beautiful. Taking a single sniff, the notes present themselves in turn like so:

-top of sniff: dark, rich, sweetened spiced plum + musk
-middle of sniff: the smooth florals, jasmine, orchid, + pinch of tuberose
-lingering of sniff: warm spice profile, still very plum-y

Overall it's the best warm, dark fruity, spicy sweet blind swap I've ever done. 2 thumbs up! Can't comment on sillage/longevity yet but I've got a whole 100ml to get to know it ;)

It's a mace and spice party! I get a Dr. Pepper/Coca-Cola note that isn't gorgeous on my skin (maybe the plums?) but it dissipates, thankfully. This is invigorating in cold weather; I like to spray it on my scarves and let them sit in the closet to marinate in the sweet and spice.

The bottle is retro-cool. It fits the fragrance perfectly.

JizzJuice

Just got my sample today and I'm really liking this. It starts out very white floral and then about 20-30 minutes later, a very nice creamy dry down begins. And that's when all of the non-floral notes emerge. The sandalwood and others become apparent. The end result is very casual and not overpowering-ly sweet.

sherry22222

This perfume did not mix well on me ,it smelt like I had a shower with over stewed coffee. Shame because it is a lovely warm spicy fragrance which would enduce a calming comfortable presence.

kirinie

I blind bought this based on the notes, but my bottle doesn't smell like any of the listed notes so far. I guess that will teach me not to buy a very on sale bottle at Marshall's - the bottle was even upside down in the packaging when I opened it, which leads me to believe someone had opened it before.

HeidiLynn

I’ve been coveting Secret Obsession for a long time, as the notes looked like something I would enjoy as a floriental lover: tuberose, rose, amber and sandalwood. I love nutmeg, and see it rated highly by my fragrantican fellows. What I wasn’t prepared for was the heavy mace note. My skin must amp the mace, and it is an unusual smell to my nose. The first hour was a rich, indolic-pepper almost meaty-pepper smell; it smelled vaguely like nutmeg, but lacked the sweetness of nutmeg. This smell overpowered all of the other notes, and lasted for a very long time—5 hours, very linear, and still quite strong.

When I reapplied, mostly just to see what would happen, I still got the heavy mace but then could also smell the rose. It was like the rose was crying out in captivity, imprisoned by the mace, and I could only sense it when I sniffed really closely. It is a spicy rose, which works with the listed spices.

I just found this to be very unbalanced on my skin. I cannot smell the plums, tuberose, sandalwood or amber, which is very disappointing. There is only the overwhelming spiciness of the mace. It has very good longevity, 5+ hours, and the sillage is modest to loud. The bottle is attractive, heavy in the hand and with a nice shape and detailing of the glass; the plastic cap is not obviously plastic, and the dark amber color beautiful. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be keeping this fragrance which seemed to hold so much promise.

ellina1984

Gorgeously spicy and sensual, with a beautiful burnt edge. I don't know what mace smells like, but the spice here is bold, and brings to mind a brighter, more zingy cinnamon. Secret Obsession resembles Dior Addict, only nothing as sweet.
Great longevity, too.

Fire_Rabbit

I received this as a gift, opened it and sprayed it a couple of times on my skin. I was so disappointed. Although it is warm and slightly spicy there is a floral note in there that is not my cup of tea. If any one wants this perfume I have 100ml of it and would love to swap it for something else.

dkny27

This is one helluva underrated scent! At least according to my skin chemistry... And for $15??
The opening is a little woody, a little sweet, a little floral... But on the skin, it oozes warm spice and incense with a tiny poof of powdery goodness.
It does dissipate rather quickly once on the skin, but the notes seem to project several inches off the skin and that's where the fragrance lives for several hours...
A little retro meets hometown niche... Good stuff!

fire2heart

I found this on clearance at Marshall's. I thought it might smell a bit like Obsession, but it doesn't.

The opening note on me is roses, which I'm normally not a fan of but it doesn't last long. Then it morphs into a slightly spicy, kind of soapy clean scent that is very nice! It stays that way for quite awhile and I get whiffs of vanilla. I prefer this on clothes more than on my skin because it lasts longer.

Kind of an odd thing about this perfume (I hope I can articulate it to makes sense)....
This is what I think Maja Myrurgia for women should have smelled like. I was soooo disappointed with Maja. So in a way, this reminds me of Spain when I went to visit my daughter there last year, because that is what Maja was supposed to do. So this makes me happy!

Pooja37

I love this perfume! The monsoons have arrived over here and I can hear the rain outside my window as I type and all my senses are overwhelmed, delightfully so, as the scent of wet earth mingles with the flowers in this perfume.

Delicate, flowery and very sensual, I don't find this over powering at all. I think it is beautiful. The notes are so well blended that one can't quite describe it as entirely floral, nutmeg or vanilla.

To my nose it comes across as a very gentle, light and ladylike scent with mysterious hidden depths. And there is certainly an old world charm about this fragrance.

spotlights

Very 'weak', mild and hardly there. Not for me at all. I enjoy Obsession, White Diamonds and Red Door. Also Knowing and Youth Dew.

Silences

All I can say here is WOW! I picked this one up at Marshalls for $19.99 and I can't tell you how many times I passed this over because I never cared for Obsession.

First of all this is it's own fragrance. I don't detect Obsession. It is so beautifully blended it reminds me of by Kilian Sacred Wood. It is a gorgeous, mysterious, clean Oriental Wood. I am almost haunted by the fragrance. It is so sexy, this will definitely be my date fragrance.

I just looked up the notes on Sacred Wood, Calice Becker developed both Sacred Wood and Secret Obsession. This one is a keeper.

lepalm

Euphoria is currently my favorite CK fragrance but I think Secret Obsession just migh provide some serious competition for that spot. I don't know, I'll have to give it a few more trials before I can say for sure. (Previous CK favorites were Obsession and Eternity about 25 years ago).

While it appears that most people are saying this is a great fall night time scent, I absolutely adore it on my skin now that summer is approaching and the days are getting hotter. The Jasmine really comes through in such an intoxicating way. I love the spicy floral woody blend. Maybe it gets even better in cooler weather? How lovely would THAT be! I can't wait to try it in all seasons.

My only complaint is that it only lasts about three or four hours. Other than that, this is a gorgeous fragrance and I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

louanna

I was about to sell this one and decided to test it one more time before I do. Okay, I am not selling it, at least not just yet. It's a lovely jasmine, nutmeg, plum, vanilla combination, but mostly jasmine to me, and what a wonderful jasmine!

CozyCat

I love the nutmeg in this! And the way it mingles with the warm amber, sandalwood, subtly-sweet plum and soapy white flowers. For me it's a fall day or summer night fragrance, rich, sultry and sensuous without being suffocating or overpowering. It's comfortable enough on hot, dry days...thanks to its fresh, spicy soapiness. Irreplaceable! I've been trying to find something similar because this one lacks longevity on me, but so far nothing comes close. I was suggested to try Tom Ford's Black Orchid Voile de Fleur, but that one is so heady, dark, and mature, it lacks the delicious golden warmth of amber and that addictive hit of nutmeg that makes SO appealing to me. I'll have to keep looking.

Rotorwife

I bought this as a blind buy at TJMaxx and thought that I would love it because I really love Obsession. I've always been into the deeper scents and believed that this would be perfect. After I opened the box and sprayed it on my wrist I was slightly taken aback. What was wrong? Something smelled very "out of place". I almost felt dirty...like I had been hanging out in a dirty bar all night. Not at all what I had hoped for. I tried to keep an open mind and wore it for a while. I tried it again the next day and I got the same vibe. I just felt "dirty". I couldn't wait to take it to the humane society thrift store in hopes that someone else might love it. Sadly to say this one was a stinker on me.

Donna Amethyst

I don´t use this perfume very often, but every time I use it, I´m surprised, how beautiful it is. I don´t know why, but in my memories it´s not so beautiful as in real, but at least I always experience the magic of the first moment again and again. When I first discovered it, it was like my dream came true – the perfect sweet oriental scent I was looking for. Even the bottle looks like from the 1001 nights. Obsession is like that classic orientals, Secret Obsession is modern, but still very warm and spicy, and very intoxicating.

vote4af

I just blind bought this at TJ Maxx for $10.00 and I ADORE it! I really don't know how to pick out individual notes...all I know is I love "woody Orientals" and this one seems to fill the bill. Long lasting and decent sillage to boot! What a bargain! Made my day :)

lirael00

I never liked the Obsession...but Secret Obsession, well it's everything I would want from an oriental fragrance. I get the spicy nutmeg openning and the the drydown is more vanillish and I love it! Longevity and sillage are both very good. Some of my friends love it on me and some don't. It's not aimed to please the crowd, but those who appreciate this intoxicating scent will definetly benefit from special pleasures that you get from this frag. I would say rather try it, before you buy it. For me it's a winner!

katoy4

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this when I sampled it, and again when I found it for under $20 at Marshalls. I agree with a previous reviewer that it is reminiscent of Samsara with its soapy sandalwoood drydown, but I prefer the tuberose notes here to the more prominent ylang ylang in Samsara. Tuberose and I are not always friends, but this one is very smooth and well blended with spices. In fact the plum-tuberose-spice combo is a lot like the one in Bond no.9 Chinatown. Finally, I really like the nutmeg note that keeps it interesting. So it's a great value and I'm quite happy with it!

CeciliaKu

This fragrance is unique. Not an outstanding and ground-breaking type of unique, but certainly different and refreshing. It's comforting, warm and in some ways exotic.

I consider this fragrance to be more temptingly sensual rather than outright sexy. Secret Obsession doesn't scream sex, rather it promises to be taken slowly, perhaps a dinner, a dance, a glass of champagne and a sense of anticipation. It's certainly a scent that depicts control and elegance.

I'd suggest Secret Obsession to any woman and I'd be extremely surprised if they weren't as impressed as I was.

HollyBiani

I can totally smell the tuberose, which is one of the main reasons I love this perfume. If Versace Blonde and Obsession had a daughter, her name would be Secret Obsession. And that would be one hot family so far. Who's the daddy?

weegee

August 2009: Nutmeg, amber, sandalwood -- these notes somehow manage to create the heaviest bourbon/whisky odor I've ever encountered outside of a bar! If you choose to wear this be sure to keep your balance when walking and clearly enunciate when speaking or those near you will think you've been drinking for hours and hours. Unbelieveably boozy, and not in a good way.

Edit: January 2014. Well, what do you know? I was sorting through bottles for giving away and spritzed some Secret Obsession on my wool sweater and something magical happened: nutmeg heaven! I've had my bottle for four and a half years and the boozy fumes have somehow disappeared, leaving a smooth, mellow, spiced elixir. Perhaps my initial comparison to whisky wasn't so off the mark because this juice has defintely improved as it has aged
