White Diamonds Night by Elizabeth Taylor is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. White Diamonds Night was launched in 2016. Top notes are Apricot, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot; middle notes are Night Blooming Jasmine and Freesia; base notes are Resins, Sandalwood, Patchouli and Musk.

The collection of fragrances by Elizabeth Taylor was expanded by another new edition, successor of the popular White Diamonds, launched back in 1991. White Diamonds Night celebrates the world of glamour and offers a new fragrant interpretation which combines luminous citruses, intoxicating floral bouquet of night flowers resting on a creamy and sensual base. ""Inspired by the iconic glamour and bold opulence of Elizabeth Taylor, White Diamonds Night is a luxurious new statement in fragrance. A scent that shimmers and sparkles with the magical allure of diamonds under the evening lights. Timeless. Magnetic. Unforgettable."

Composition of the perfume Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds Night opens with sparkling and glittering notes that depict iridescent diamonds under night light. Bitterness of bergamot and sunny drops of mandarin laminating over floral notes of night blooming jasmine, in charge of the sophisticated lady-like charm. Opulence and luxury are depicted by zests of apricot and sweet freesia that complete the floral-fruity opening. Warmth and sensuality are depicted by musk, resins, creamy sandalwood and patchouli.

Fragrance White Diamonds Night is available as 100ml Eau de Toilette. Flacons repeat the form of their antecedents and were designed in black color with a decoration around the neck of the bottle, with crystals lined up so as to present beauty and sparkle of diamonds. Outer carton is also black with discrete details in gold color, embellished with a bow with glittering crystals.

A powdery lipsticky jammy fruitbomb! So delicious. Quite berryforward at first, followed by powdery, sticky goodness. Not at all what I expected from the notes. I get no citrus and no patchouli or musk, which is totally ok by me. A very subtle woodiness comes in after a while.
Smells expensive, old school and classy. A pleasant surprise. And a great price point!

Mega fruity woody scent like ambrosia from the heavens! The apricot is creamy, like it’s been stewed in cream, and sweet and almost boozy, and I adore the woody base. The scent reminds me a lot of Mauboussin (another that I LOVE), though White Diamonds Night is more fruity and has the patchouli-ish quality dialed down. Lasts a long time on me with a pleasant scent bubble that I never go noseblind to. I really adore this one for fall nights and the winter, though it has a sort of retro quality, so definitely test first before buying. The price point is amazing, once I’m done with my travel spray I’ll pop for a big bottle.

I recently purchased this, as I am collecting all the White diamonds edts. I waited 2 weeks to try it. At first spray, I recognized the resin note I love, and it reminds me of Fendi Theorema. Absolutely lovely, for about 5 minutes. Then, it completely disappeared, or so I thought. I could not smell it any more. I even re-sprayed, up and down each arm, and my neck and decolletee. I just cannot smell it on myself at all. Yet my husband told me, this morning when we woke up, that he loved the powderiness of what I was wearing. Why am I noseblind to this? All I get is the first 5 minutes or less! it only comes in a edt...waahhhh.

This is so beautiful and suitable for this winter im in. Creamy, dark, reseneous,. Dark orange fruits mixed well with the sandalwood. This is a steal of of a price for what it is.

I agree with the other reviewer that said this is very fruity. Without looking at notes, I would have thought that peach was a main note. It doesn't smell like citrus fruits. It smells sweeter like peach. I can also see how it may come off as more of a berry scent to some, but for me it's peach. Super sweet and not getting any woody notes on this one. It smells nice though, if you like fruity fragrances. It's strong and you can get it for a great price. I like this one.

Always a favorite of mine among the many celebrity-branded perfumes. Heady but clean, floral but not sweet or juvenile. Perhaps too intense for everyday wear, but a nice little treat in moderation.

Aubynik

This is my first time testing this. I've only applied about 6 minutes ago but I will update as applicable and the more exposure I have with this fragrance.

This is SO fruity to me. I read the notes and it was NOT was I expected. Now, that is not saying that this isn't pleasant because it is.....it's just much sweeter and fruiter than what I thought it would be based on notes and the main accords listed.

It says that apricot and mandarin are the top notes but honestly I sprayed this and was surprised at how 'purple' it smelled. It smells much more like plums and raspberries to my nose.

The heart is just starting to show so I'll be back after a few more wears I simply think sharing first impressions is fun.

******Edit
I have worn this multiple times now and it is still very fruit forward to me. But now, moreso than at initial application I can pick out apricot. Although it does still smell "purple" to me.

The patchouli and resin notes are not nearly as pronounced as I hoped they be. With the 'night' in the name I wish it did pull a bit darker....a bit more black. It is pleasant and does smell good by itself but I layered this over Fancy Nights by Jessica Simpson to add a bit more depth and that was definitely a change in the right direction for me.

It seems to me that thia is good for the majority of people but if you purchase on the promise of a 'Night' fragrance as I did you might be disappointed.

When I first sprayed this, my nose registered this smell being more raspberry, rather than apricot. There is a high, sweet soprano note to this fruity aspect that at first - I felt like I should wash off. But after reviewing over 400 perfumes now, I knew better than to not at least give this perfume a better shot. If I had not known better - I would have assumed that the first minutes of this were way too bold and that I should just wash the whole perfume off, claiming that this was too over powering.

The first 30 minutes to an hour are fairly intense with this perfume. When the dry down begins, the upper fruity note begins to morph more into a vanilla incense type smell, which - at this point, becomes irresistible. Don't give up on this one too soon. This gets better over time - and the dry down phase to this perfume is really where all the charm is.

I'm sampling this today in an EDT along with Passion by Elizabeth Taylor - and White Diamonds EDT.
I'll relate these 3 to similar chord progressions... they each have different energy and vibes - but the overall effect of this - is a grounded chord. Passion is a slightly deeper chord than White Diamonds in the EDT. The EDT version does not have such a strong aldehyde, as what I remember White Diamonds having earlier. They have done something in their formula to tone this WAYYYYYYY Down -- or the EDT and EDP probably smell much different.

White Diamonds EDT - this reminds me of the dry down of First by Van Clef and Arpels... which is a classically elegant perfume that I get a tone of compliments on.

White Diamonds Night - is the higher octave soprano with the fruity notes of apricot which shoot up in the rafters (borrowing the expression from singing - when the soprano hits the high notes).

Elizabeth Taylor certainly had a great nose for perfume. The more that I have tried her perfumes, the more I have developed an appreciation for all that she did to help perfume evolve into what it is, today.

Dare to be different! White Diamonds Night is my scent of the day--and, I'm loving it! This is a blind buy that I purchased, back in April, and I decided to wear it today. To my nose, it is definitely better suited for colder weather and nighttime; but, fragrance rules are made to be broken! I'm wearing this today at work, as an educator--unsure of what the rest of my day has to offer... I'm so glad that I decided to wear this fragrance today because it is awesome. White Diamonds Night is a flanker of the original White Diamonds, but it is very different. More so, than any of the other flankers of the classic that are in my collection. This fragrance is smooth and ultra-fruity. The patchouli matures the juice, but does not make it old-ladyish. The sandalwood and musk rounds out the apricot and other fruits-- creating a well blended juice--suitable for evening affairs like date night and elegant dinners. With initial sprays, White Diamonds Night is fruity and musky. The fragrance starts off as a power house, but it quickly becomes a powdery, sexy, yet sophisticated fragrance--with moderate silage and great longevity. My husband loves this on me! I think it's a keeper too. A great signature scent for someone in search of one. Definitely not a safe blind buy, but great for the woman who is sophisticated, classy, and marches to the beat of her own drum!

LadyMuck

I love this fragrance. It's such good value for money and unique fragrance.

To me it smells like soft patchouli/sandalwood incense with a touch of fruit and some jasmine in the mid-notes that makes it very feminine. No screechiness to this fragrance It has a smoky, hippy vibe to it.

Well done for the perfumers who blended this lovely long-lasting fragrance.

Might not be a good blind buy unless you like stronger fragrances that stick around.

The dry down is very addictive but with this fragrance you will never complain that it can't be smelt after a few hours because its staying power is fantastic. 7/10

Two thumbs up for this patchouli beauty! A not-too-sweet burst of sparkling apricot-fruitchouli opens this baby and transitions through a powdery make-up & cocoa middle to a patchouli-sandalwood dry-down with touches of leather and chocolate. (note: this is after 7 sprays and 6 months of dark storage).

Comparison to Rogue Rihanna:
Very different scents however the opening of White Diamonds Night is similar to Rogue Rihanna in that fruitchouli vibe, with Rogue being sweeter and more strawberry aligned.

Comparison to Fancy Nights Jessica Simpson:
These are very different scents but the drydowns are similar IMO, White Diamonds Night has the sparkly fruity floral aspect in the opening that I don't smell in Fancy Nights. The sparkle fades after the opening but remains in the background nearly throughout.

Comparison to Rebelle Rihanna:
Although these have been compared I find them quite different, although there is a similarity in the middle of White Diamonds Night where you get a powdery make-up and cocoa vibe that reminds me of Rebelle.

Comparison to Angel Mugler:
Very different scents, however the opening of White Diamonds Night reminds me of Angel due to what I think is the sparkly facets of the patchouli. The chocolatey touches are similar as well, only White Diamonds Night is more woody and not as sweet as Angel - which is instantly recognizable and in it's own class IMO,

Comparison to Angel Muse EDT:
These are very different scents again but I think Angel Muse EDT is more similar to White Diamonds Night than Angel to my nose. Angel Muse EDT is more tropical in the opening with passionfruit but there is a similar vibe with these two being the most similar overall at about 60-70% similar IMO

Performance: I'm not going to lie to you - this needs ~7 sprays (3-10) followed by dark storage for 6 months before really blossoming to have average or slightly above average performance. Any earlier and sadly I found it frustratingly ephemeral for an already ephemeral medium (couldn't notice much of a middle or drydown). At the 6 month point the juice has some juice - I'm getting arms length-6ft projection with a soft scent profile for 2-3 hours which then gradually contracts over the next few hours to a skin scent for a total of 6-7 hours. Great value if you don't mind storing it!

Noelanii

To me it smells like lipstick and cosmetic powder.

peachygal

Such a gorgeous scent. White diamonds the original is a difficult one to pull off because of how powdery and powerful it is. This is like it’s toned down little sister. It has that powderiness but it also has more of a sweetness and is not as shocking at the original. A really feminine, deep, dark and rich scent for a sophisticated grown up woman to wear on cold nights is how I would describe this beauty.

CatOwned

This smells very glamorous to me. It is initially kind of smokey, powdery, dusty but not in a bad way.

This one is a lot fruitier and sweeter than White Diamonds en Rouge which is more straight up spicy. This scent is way weaker than en Rouge.

At first I can detect a hint of fruit in this but the fruitiness is not strong, but in the drydown you notice more of the fruit.

I like this one, but I doubt I would repurchase this.

ShaLion

This is just not for my body chemistry. I don’t get a hint of apricot. Now, I didn’t expect this to be a fruit bomb but I was hoping for a creamy, vaguely apricot skin, kinda powder and (for me) this isn’t that.
On my skin it leans too far into “makeup powder” territory. I initially get a blast of something incense related/ with a Skin So Soft scent and then all I can smell is makeup powder with a little spice.
Like: I taste it.

drugstore classics

Warm, fuzzy, mature, lovely!

I was a bit surprised at the notes in comparison to what I smell. Happily, there is no screeching freesia to my nose. A cozy, musky, well-grounded floriental with quite a bit of peach/apricot fuzz. This isn't sweet, edible apricot. It's a similar kind of peach/apricot skin to what I smell in Rochas Femme. In other ways the scent is considerably more modern than Femme, but the seductive warmth and maturity is still there.

Recommended to those who love powdery, woody scents with a hint of sweetness and also for those who like vintage STYLE scents, rather than vintages themselves. To my nose this is sweeter than a vintage often will be, but also has that animalic goodness from peach skin, musk, and jasmine.

Moderately quiet sillage and longevity, which can easily be extended by spraying on fabric or hair. Dry down smells of pretty and classic musk, very similar to that in Skin Musk by Coty. Excellent, likeable fragrance, and for this vintage lover that is high praise for any modern release.

Note: Today, I received a complement when being hugged. 'You smell WONDERFUL!' So there you have it. :D

lemonblue

I'm trying to learn to love this but I'm not there yet. It's very strong, aged, and stuffy. Apricot, plus a potpourri kind of woodsy vibe. That 90s woodsy floral stuffiness. I really want to enjoy the apricot. It does smell reminiscent of hair product.

xoxoMyke

First off, gorgeous bottle! Very eye catching.

The juice? It's opens with an overwhelming blast of dusky incense. Very quickly, it brightens up to a slightly mouth-watering orange and lemon Life-Savers hard candy. Within 30 minutes, it loses its sweetness and becomes powdery and musky - very nondescript when compared to the opening and heart notes.

katemax

I got this today after wanting it for ages and it is divine! upon first sniff it made me think of either night musk or odyssy by avon from the 90s. As it dries down i cant stop smelling myself. It is a bit musky, fruity, delectable and im now thinking i need a bigger bottle in case it suddenly becomes hard to get.

Gemsense

I doused myself in this and my husband was like who's wearing braid oil? So now all I smell is freshly sprayed braids and weave.
I knew it smelled familiar.

LZed

I’m impressed. It doesn’t scream “FRUIT” but is a fruit-dominant woody scent with a quiet spice. From reading reviews here, I was anticipating a dark gourmand fragrance but it’s mostly bright warm fruit with powdery-spicy nuances. Opens fresh and citric with underlying juicy notes that change to drier warm woods. There’s a cuddly aspect to it. It’s not a “dark” perfume because it maintains brightness and a hint of spice.

I had a little 30 ml of this that I used up during super cold weather I didn’t think I liked it so much but that fruity woody yum haunted me and I got a big tester bottle. The performance in warmer weather is decidedly better.

amandavolpe

This perfume is very girly and sweet, a mix of apricot jam and baby powder. Not dark at all, despite its name.

Really, this leans into gourmand territory to me. It’s Chopard’s Casmir if you leave out the dark, rubbery vanilla and the pungent spices. Just yummy fruit and powdery goodness.

Once I sprayed White Diamonds Night it took me right back to my preteens, and a quick search on Fragrantica showed me why.

Apricot, mandarin, bergamot/lime, freesia, sandalwood, amber and musk. It smells very familiar to me because it has almost the same pyramid of a Brazilian perfume I used to wear, Capricho Day by O Boticário, which was released in the early 2000s, while White Diamonds Night was released in 2013. A funny coincidence.

Both perfumes must share an original DNA. Maybe Visa, which I haven’t had the opportunity to smell yet?

Marzag

I really like this! It seems like a very unusual (albeit very pleasant) fragrance--to me at least. My husband is very picky about fragrances but both he and our young daughter like it, too. I am not good at identifying all of the notes (not yet, anyway), but I get the fruitiness throughout, and I really love that. It's fruity yet spicy at the same time. I think the name suits it perfectly, as this very much feels like a nighttime fragrance. It is only for fall and winter, in my opinion. It has a darkness and a little bit of mystery to it...kind of like Magie Noire, though it doesn't smell anything like that fragrance. It's just kind of in the same vein. It smells nothing like any of the other White Diamond fragrances...definitely not like the original (which I also love). I think it's elegant and sophisticated, and it's very reasonably priced for what it is.

mirrorghost

in the beginning i get a lot of apricot...this smells very 90s, but apricot instead of peach! later i get resins and sandalwood mostly with a melange of florals combining with the apricot. dries down to an apricot sandalwood primarily. this i pretty, and reminds me of something i can't place. glad i tried it...it's very cozy and warming.

LSAUG

This is what I wanted Spellbound from Estee Lauder to smell like. I never smelled the vintage Spellbound but I blind bought a reformulated bottle and was disappointed in it and now it is air freshener for the bathroom.. WDN opens w/ a ripe apricot covered in cream and spices and it continues that way throughout the time you wear it. I don't get the florals so much, they are a nuance. This perfume is all about romance and seduction. Men would love this perfume! If you want to impress a guy on a date or get your husband to take notice of you wear this. I'm telling you there probably isn't a man alive that wouldn't love this perfume. It is very creamy, lush and seductive.

Jhanemarie

Such a beautiful, smoky, kind of exotic, wispy perfume that smells wonderful on me. I would never have tried it if I hadn’t received it as a gift, because the iconic and beloved White Diamonds absolutely screams FIRE in a crowded theater and reeks so awfully on me that I wouldn’t have given the rest of the line a chance. WD Night, on the other hand, is quite interesting, surprising in the way it develops, and a little arty in a good way. Soft, woody, and sweet, but with distinctive notes - you will not smell like everyone else. It’s not heavy, but it does have body and 8 hour longevity. It doesn’t reach out and inflict itself on everyone - on me it stays well within arm’s length. I really like it very much and wear it often, day and night, whenever I feel like it. I purchased a back-up before it’s reformulated or discontinued or the price goes up exponentially. This is a lovely, somewhat complex, different scent that is an excellent value for now.

failedutopia

If Dior - Addict and Lolita Lempicka - Eau de Minuit had a daughter, it'd smell like this. Very powdery with some musk, a very slight anise quality to it. Has a timeless class to it, best for the mature crowd.

PersianPrincess

This is so gorgeous and delicious; a wonderful addition to the White Diamonds line. This is a resinous, floral, fruity and powdery concoction with some sweetness. To my nose the woodiness is very soft and rounded, with the sandalwood and patchouli adding more of a powdery goodness than anything else. I can also swear there is vanilla in this, even if it's not listed. I could definitely see Elizabeth Taylor loving this and wearing it, so I think they did a very nice job of staying true to her tastes and vision. I also sense an homage to vintage perfumes in this scent, albeit as a modern interpretation. Perfect for evenings, but imo, also wonderful as a cooler weather scent any time of day. When I wear this, I am constantly smelling my wrist or the inside of my shirt/sweater...it's that good!

Sara74

A great fragrance with a large doze of surupy apricots layerd with lots of incense and some crisp brightness from the citruses. It has elegance, darkness, brightness and even sparkles. I bought one for my sister as a birthday gift and needed one for myself. Such a great fragrance and for a such a ridicilous low price.

Nataliemarie

When I first spray this, it smells like Peach Cobbler and Patchouli. Patch IS the drydown in most perfumes that contain it, but in this perfume, the patch fades & I get more Peach Cobbler w/ a little spice, or incense. I def agree with the similarities between this & Fancy Love. BUT! I decluttered that one when I had it. This is very different than anything I have. I almost thinking a mix of Fancy Love & Fancy Nights, which I DO like. My favorite perfume she has is "Gardenia", It's so beautiful. I've always kept a bottle of White Diamonds & Brilliant Diamonds on hand. SOO good. I do not Violet, or the Sparkling. Now I'm so invested, I just ordered Diamonds & Rubies after reading these reviews & the reviews written for that one!

GirlOnFire

A delectable slightly woody fruit custard.

jeanharlow

I've had my bottle for months now trying to really decide if I like this or not. While its not unpleasant by any means, it IS disappointing because the longevity and sillage is non-existent. Within half an hour or less I cannot smell this on me and I have tried on clothing and skin. It smells of slightly fermented apricot and honey with a bit of spice. I do not get sandalwood at all; the main players are the top notes. Its a nice smell, but forgettable in my opinion. It performs like a body spray so if you like that and you like apricot, get this!

Kellergirl

This is divine! On my skin, the patcholi is the star of the show. It's deep, mysterious, and sexy! Will purchase this again when I run out.

carlahoffman

Just beautiful, it's dark and mysterious a new love of mine. A blind buy based on the reviews and a $18 price tag and WOW was it a great buy. I lightly sprayed and was hooked by it lovely fruity opening but none of them dominating, The floral notes are beautifully blended, not over bearing leading to the sweet woody/musky dry down.

For a toilette it packs a punch in lasting power with a non cloying, sweet projection. It's a dazzling feminine perfume that smells so lovely. I do advice to build up your spray's. This scent just keeps developing and grows prettier as it does. Now it's a new fav!!

middle25

I think I wrote off some of the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances as loud 80's and 90's perfumes that my mom and her friends wore. I still don't love White Diamonds, but White Diamonds Night has become one of my favorite inexpensive, classy perfumes. Sweet, rich, and warm, yet not cloying on my skin - every note seems balanced and nothing sticks out aggressively. Could pass for a much more expensive perfume. Love it.

Marhalcia

This is a great scent - reminds me of L'eau Ambree by Prada. Created a stash in case this too; finds itself discontinued.

ShannonIk

I bought this based on the rave reviews that I have read, over the past year or so, on the forum boards. And, I have to say that I wasn't really expecting much. There are so many fragrances that are wildly popular that, for whatever reason, just don't work well for me.

I'm sorry that I doubted you, Fragrantica.

This is a real beauty; with the fruit and florals being balanced, sweet but not cloying, and just a really good all-season (in my opinion) fragrance. I'm a sucker for a good peach (okay, let's split the difference and call it stone fruit) scent. And, this delivers. I think this is a good scent to have for most occasions.

Thank you for the recommendations.

Redrusty66

Another "Made for Male As Well" scent from the ET line. Granted this was after her involvement of course but I applaud they way they have kept her spirit in these flankers and continuations of the line. I've been careful to not to get the too feminine ones, though there's not many, I of course stay clear of Gardenia, but in honesty that's about the only one men cannot pull off. Perhaps a few others may be borderline, but with my skin chemistry they all work fine. I've always said 8 husbands made her the expert to a point she couldn't even make perfumes without men on her mind. :-). I've worn White Diamonds since stealing my Grans in High School. Diamonds And Rubies, Black Pearls, and White Diamonds Lustre as well as this new entry work so well on me it's not even a question to anyone who smells them on me to ask about their gender label, so I take it it works fine as male scents. I've even worn Violet Eyes, Forever Elizabeth and Sapphires without question. I have always believed people get way too hung up on thinking people can tell scent labels to the extent they believe, I really don't from my experience of wearing almost exclusive "her" labeled scents all my 50 years of life. (Extremely obvious notes are exception of course, gardenia, water lily, magnolia, rose and perhaps a few other white flowers CAN be dangerous according to how they are formulated but that's where your nose knowns and can give you the best advice).

In the end, BD Night is an amazing scent for men or women and continues the grand ET line with perfection.

purple snowflake

After a thoroughly unpleasant experience with Diamonds and Emeralds, I'm pleased to report that White Diamonds Night is DELICIOUS. Someone described it as a rich, boozy fruitcake swimming in cream, and that's about right, and for me there's also a dash of Fracas in the cream.

The apricot, mandarin and freesia are probably what's making it sweet (and there's GOT to be vanilla in there!), and it *is* sweet in the most delightful way, with a sugared Nag Champa incense vibe – probably the resins and sandalwood. I do wish the top would last a bit longer – there's something really magical and unusual about the fruit vis a vis the citrus – but all in all I'm extremely pleased with this fragrance and will definitely buy a larger bottle soon. A must for sweet and gourmand lovers.

9/10 because the longevity could be better.

Mystères du Château de Dé

Hi Konga5000 from 2018. I agree this is so-called unisex. I'm a guy and get a kick out of Taylor Diamond flankers, mostly as room sprays. Night I enjoy on skin, in public no less! Certainly not at nose level, though.

OK, I've worn Rubies in a crowd, too. A spritz of Night can add fun to a lux Patchouli fragrance. An alternative to adding rose.

The pleasant pyramid is marred by one sludgy note I can't name. It may be an off musk note? An ill-defined "resin"? It can stop my nose on it's wandering adventure through the fragrance. But I can only detect it nose to skin, and not always, Though it shows up on fabric in the dry down, as well. Otherwise, the projection of this fragrance to my nose, from the lower body, is great. I have this issue with other Taylor fragrances - love them in the room, or from a meter. But they show jerry-rigged notes if examined closely.

I certainly would prefer a version of White Diamonds Night created in the early 90s with better molecules. But alas.

Solinger

So.. I'm not a fan of the original white diamonds, because I can't stand tuberose. And then I came along this one. It has a absolutely different idea, notes, design. I will be honest, I did not like it at first, don't know why :D, BUT, then it settled down, and it was nice! It is moderate sweet, kind of nutmegy, although it does not include nutmed. Nice balsamic scent.
Totally a night time perfume.

My boyfriend's opinion

Name should be changed to 'sweeter than honey'

meliecat

Pleasantly surprised..This is a modern, spicy scent, does not resemble any of the ET perfumes I tried before..Maybe there is a very faint resemblance with Black Pearl (if you like BP, you`ll very likely like this one just as well..) Very nice apricot-jasmine combo in the drydown, although first I got more resins and orange than anything..Quality-wise I`d expect something more lasting; this seems somehow watered down to me, and there is a slight cheap chemical vibe lingering on as well - still, it is quite pleasant and lovely. Somehow I also smell incense, but I guess that is just the sandalwood and the patchouli..Thumbs up from me.

octobertragedy

This smells like a basket full of delicious apricots sitting near a buquet of freesia and jamsine. Opening is very interesting because I get the sandalwood that gives to the apricot a very nice powdery twist. Fruity but not citrusy, powdery, woody, floral. The resins are also very present.
Rich, intense and very aristocratic.
This is how I imagine 80's would smell like. Opulent, glossy, a little bit plastic like, with the intriguing perfection of a super model.

Koralanne

I reviewed this lovely fragrance two years ago. I only wear in cooler weather so I just pulled it out again. last night. It's as beautiful as I remember and will likely use it all winter long.
I think people are loving this so much in part because it is a cooler weather scent with some notes in common with the fruit and patchouli scents that have become so common over the last 10 years or so yet, it stops short of being similar. It is warm scent but not too heavy on the patchouli and spices. There are no berry notes and the apricot gives it a beautiful sweet cozy feel without being too cloying.
The opening is a bit harsh but its over I know it. In the time it takes for the fragrance to dry. I personally love the first hour or two with this fragrance, but it doesn't change overwhelmingly as so many fragrances do. It kind of matures on my skin as opposed to becoming a completely different animal. The musk remains in the background throughout and never smells dirty.

UnearthlyApothecary

I wasn’t sure at first spray, but after the initial blast I really loved this, very creamy lightly floral vanilla custard and apricot cream with a burnt incense resin base. Sounds odd and smells odd too at first, but after a few minutes it’s pure magic. I get a ton of creamy sandal beneath that smoky resin. I am going to love wearing this during the fall months, it’s such a cuddly cozy type scent. Nothing like you would expect from a “Night” perfume. I would call this one “Burnt Vanilla” or something like that. Well thank goodness I’m not in charge of naming perfumes lol I absolutely adore this one, it’s fantastic I’m only sorry it took me so long to discover it.

dgambarella

Update: I still love this and it’s my signature. It really blossoms in the heat! I love to layer it with the cinnamon rose heavy Diamonds and Rubies in cold weather for a bit of warmth and spice.

I hope it’s still around during Christmas so I can stock up on gift sets for myself and others. I really think this perfume would be lovely on anyone.

GODSREBEL

This is only MY personal experience. Everyone opinion and chemistry is different. I think this is the most beautiful, sexy, alluring, intoxicating, delicious fragrance. On me it's smells almost gourmand. I usually don't like peachy smells but this one is so syrupy that it's like candy coated peaches and just turns it so addictive to me. My husband absolutely loves it on me. I get several compliments from both men and women every time I go out. The smokiness to me is just enough to add that boozy seductive sexiness but not so much that it turns masculine. The floral fruitiness keeps it still playful and fun. The silage for me is moderate and longevity is 6-8hrs. Just gorgeous. I love it.

aprilsandoval0704

I really love this perfume. I get pure syrupy peachy goodness with a GIANT splash of deep and gorgeous incense. The incense would totally overwhelm this if it wasn't perfectly balanced with the sugary fruity notes- neither overpowers tho. It actually reminds me of that popular incense from the 90's -Nag Champa or Sex on the Beach- maybe a cross between the two but toned down about 3 notches.

Very beautiful. If this one leaned any more on either side of the spectrum (incense or fruit syrup) it wouldn't work but it certainly does. The lasting power is quiet nice as well and it definitely gets a bit smokier the longer your wear it. Projection is a hugs length. Very very nice.

Lavenderrose

It’s absolutely lovely... but unfortunately very weak. It smells very similar to Miss Dior.
It is so different to any other ET fragrances. I’ve tried the majority. It’s perfectly suitable for the office/ daytime. It’s not a nighttime scent at all. I’m disappointed it isn’t more of a statement, as it is a gorgeous smell - just need to amp it up!

Update #2
I am appreciating this melange of sweet, fruity, rich with the resin/musk/patchouli base. Today I noticed a salty nuance, which I don't always like, but in this fragrance it's balanced and buffered with the overall richness of the other notes.
------------------------------------------
Update #1
I think I'm getting used to this and becoming more open minded about the possibility of wearing in daytime. Maybe it helps that I've been trying more of Liz's fragrances and appreciating the richness of them. It's very nice.
-----------------------------------
Just trying this one. I find it interesting that some people think this is suitable for daytime, though clearly to each their own. Maybe it's a generational thing with all the current fruity fragrances. For me the fruit and level of boozy sweetness makes this iffy for daytime.
I'm still evaluating it but it's quite sweet by my standards.
---------
Drydown stage is rich and pretty. Easier for me than the opening.
Not feeling comparisons to Black Pearls, but I do get the echo of Fancy Nights.

Anamandy

I just picked up a 1 oz. at Walmart on clearance today. Initial spray, delicious fruity vanilla, then a weird chemical smell shows up and starts running underneath. Then it turns into pure coconut on me. Though it's not listed in the notes at all that's all I smelled for the longest time. Then it gets even stronger, sweeter, powdery, verging on cloying. I only used one spritz on my arm yet started getting that tickle in my throat.

This is no doubt reformulated and could account for the weird synthetic smell showing up midway in the scent. I'll give it another go but if I find I don't care for it, mainly because I don't like scents with coconut in them or that even smell like coconut, I'll give it to someone I know who loves that fruit in a scent. Maybe she'll appreciate it more than I do.

medusa666

Love this!!! Delicious, mouthwatering layers of balsamic fruity vanilla!
Definitely a hot weather fragrance! The heat releases its scent magically and expels its aroma in its entirety.
Luxurious and sensual. Perfect for hot summer nights.

n87

I was gifted this during the winter, and it was love at first sniff. Definitely a cold weather fragrance, but I still like to wear it on warm nights before bed. There's something about this scent that instantly relaxes me, and I've never experienced that with a perfume. Call me crazy, but it has a Parma violet kind of vibe to it, and my partner has said the same. It's just gorgeous. I can't really say anything more, other than it's heavenly. This is my second favourite in Elizabeth Taylor's line. It's not the strongest, certainly nowhere near as strong as white diamonds, but it's far superior in my opinion because of how it makes me feel.

gtabasso

A definite gourmand fragrance with lots of ripe fruit and resins. There is a definite vanillic overtone to the fragrance that smells like tonka and maybe some labdanum. I wish this was a tad less fruity but the combo really works. This is nothing like the other fragrances in this line. A complete deviation. As for floral, I smell no jasmine and mostly freesia. Very pretty and unique. In the final drydown, the fruit is tamed and the sandalwood, musk and patchouli make the fragrance have a smokey aspect.

stephdray

This is not the sort of fragrance I thought I would love. I'm not a gourmand person and patchouli is a note that I don't get along with. But because I'm on a crusade to try every Elizabeth Taylor perfume, I went with this one, and the balance is greater than the individual notes. I get the drunk apricot, and even though not listed, a hint of coconut/vanilla/chocolate. But the resins and the glorious sandalwood deepen the composition into dark mystery.

This is rich, like a boozy fruitcake swimming in cream. It's also rich like velvet and jewels. I love it. BUT.

The fatal downside is that the sillage and longevity is extremely weak. Very disappointing and not on par with her other powerhouse perfumes. This one would be impossible to over-spray, whereas a little bit of the original is more than enough.

And speaking of the original--I don't know that this has anything in common.

Agnesca

Couldn't differ more from the original WD. This flanker is a little bit syrupy, sweet but not really candy-like, well-done and pleasant. very familir too, right after sprayed, it slightly reminds me on 212 Sexy by Carolina Herrera, or on Euphoria by Calvin Klein, even if they are not similar in notes but share the same vein. Not as dark as one would expect from the look of the bottle. Not necesserily a night time fragrance and definetely can be worn by anyone, even by younger women than people usually associate with ET perfumes. Stunningly beautiful, a nice change in the line, however, I'm not quite sure if Elizabeth Taylor herself would wear this scent if she was among us. I'm just at the beginning of experiencing with layering, but I think this one is a beautiful perfume to layer with some of the other ÍET perfumes, possibly I will try some of them nad comeback for feed back.

Ferra_Verto

Love this!

The resins are thick and a little smoky, and the apricot and jasmine shine in this fragrance. It gives the impression of being slathered in a delicious resin oil after a very luxurious and relaxing bath. It's very womanly and complex. It reminds me of "White Soul" by Ted Lapidus, though this one is distinctly heavier.

As the name suggests, it wears best in the night, but would also wear wonderfully on cold winter days.

Definitely recommend!

dglightblue

Second test, humid summer, two sprays inner elbow

Initial: Peachy, floral, rich, ‘other notes’.

Later: Metallic undertone and still peachy, floral warm rich, a bit synthetic this time - I have a different moisturiser on.

Good sillage, it wafts about.

Planet_X

There are several fruitchouli smells that I enjoy wearing - among them Mauboussin, Gres Ambre Cabochard, Goddess of Gres, Queen Latifah. Night/White Diamonds belongs to same category - easy to wear, nothing innovative, yet pleasant enough in order to reach for it pretty often. You can smell all pyramid ingredients, mainly - apricots/mandarines, patch and resins. It suits to New Year mood very well as well - careless, joyful and homey. Price is good too, along with bottle design, so why not.

Konga5000

I have no idea why this is the hardest to locate flanker in the E.T. line (this and Black Pearls never seem to be in stores).
After my newfound love for White Diamonds Lustre; this was the last E.T. fragrance that I had never tried.
It's the most different one out of her entire line because it's pretty "dark" and very "night time" (which I love) .
I find this her most UNISEX fragrance as well. Men: dig in!
This has fruit and patchouli -- but fear not- like Liz's other fragrances-- this does not smell like everything else out there. It has it's own personality.

I like it a lot! Also, I have a feeling this will not be around forever. If you see it at a discount store for $20.00-- do it!

dglightblue

Night diamonds

I read down about 6 or so reviews and they say it all in describing the scent.

Beats Dior in terms of longevity.

dgambarella

This perfume is so beautiful, I wear it for all occasions. It doesn’t strike me as a night-only fragrance and it doesn’t have massive sillage, it’s pretty subtle and you get the occasional waft as you go about your day. That being said it still garners many compliments, especially from men.

I thought with all the resinous notes it would smell very mature and serious, but the sweetness makes it modern and the creaminess stops it from being too cloying. It’s so affordable that you can get a gift set with the matching lotion and shower gel for around 20$ and layering really improves the longevity of the scent.

I am now going to try more ET scents, I already have Forever Elizabeth which I enjoy but is a pretty generic inoffensive shampoo type scent. WD Night is a better match for my personality, style and skin chemistry. I hope it’s never discontinued.

PLUMPIE

Spicy boozy honey-apricot goodness. Old style glamour for a bargain price. If you like Tourjois moi or Charlie Gold this may be your style. A new fave for me.

annxyz

This is another great perfume from Elizabeth Taylor ( line ) which is an Elizabeth Arden product . Elizabeth Arden also produces several celebrity scents.

I really enjoy this White Diamonds version. I have never worn the original, but sampled this and it smells great and has lasted all day on my clothes . I will definitely purchase . This smells complex, rich and sophisticated . It is not too loud or intense. I can’t believe how GOOD some of these Elizabeth Taylor scents are - no kidding. They smell rich and they last all day long . This one is lovely all around , and I will buy it along with Love and White Diamonds, which knocked me off my feet with its loveliness . Both are fantastic quality and value for women who want to smell like women , not muffins or marshmallows.

Beautiful_Lover

This perfume is stunning I am so glad I bought this. At first when I smelled it I thought, it was way too sweet for me, but come to find out I adore it. Longevity seems pretty good!!! Love, love, love it. Happy Perfuming!!!

soniamcalear

I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN!!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SCENT SOOOOOO MUCH!!! To me it starts with a blast of sweet black licorice to me. its just a smooth creamy spicy scent. On the side of Violet Eyes Perfume, just very creamy. OMG, i cannot get enough of this beautiful scent. I just hope it lasts longer than Violet Eyes. Weak perfumes are no my cup of tea.

mollymish

I am getting a spicy vanilla, chocolate and coconut. Must be my chemistry. Lovely.

HuneyB

Liked this in the bottle, but on my skin it dries down to notes that don't quite work well with me. It reminds me of passion on the dry down and I'm not a fan of passion's dry down. its warm out, so maybe I will test again when its colder.

White Diamonds Night:

Have just been bought a bottle of this by my lovely Husband, as he already knows how fond I am of all Elizabeth Taylor's Perfumes,& have every single one in my vast Perfume collection!! Firstly the box is very up market with it's shinny black back ground & embosed diamond bow around the top part of it!! The bottle is absolutely gorgeous!! Again gloss black with the most beautiful Rose Gold accents & ring of diamonds around it keeping very much in line with all the other Elizabeth Taylor Diamond Perfume Bottle design's!! Totally stunning & very up market & expensive looking!!

Now the actual fragrance:
One Word - Absolutely Gorgeous!!
It opens with a Citrus/Orange refreshing blast, which after a few minutes changes to an Apricot/Jasmine fruity aroma, & then the most beautiful Musky Creamyness!! I Also get a very soft all most Coconut aroma on my skin with a subtle hint of Vanilla!! The base has deffo got Sandalwood & soft spices in it when it reaches that stage after many hour's of wear!! Although this beauty is called White Diamonds Night, I find this is absolutely perfect for day time use as well!! This deffo is the more softer option to the original White Diamonds which I happen to also adore & wouldn't be without ever & it's certainly not an old lady kind of smell at all!! I find ALL of Elizabeth Taylor's Perfumes to be very well done,& extremely classy!! I'm sure Elizabeth Taylor would be absolutely delighted about the way this perfume has turned out!! I've already received so many lovely compliments when I'm Wearing this including my extremely fussy Husband!!

Sabretoothkitten

Smells very familiar...something between Fancy Nights and Coco Noir. What a weird comparison i guess. Sweet yet musky slightly masculine. Not exactly unique but better to my nose than the ghastly White Diamonds original.

greyhoundmom

So White Diamonds Night has the same bright, sweet apricot note that Chloe Narcisse has.. when I first sprayed it on I was immediately reminded of Narcisse. Apricot and vague white flowers in the background; I do not get the night-blooming jasmine much, and that's a shame because that note is the reason I blind bought this.. all I get is a generic white floral accord.

I do like this fragrance though. To me there's nothing really "night" about it! This is a sunny fragrance.. mood-lifting. It's strong and projects well and lasts a long time.. not cloying or overbearing at all, though. This is a safe, inoffensive fragrance.

Mrs. ELE Arjona

I just got a great deal on a gift set at Khols, with the lotion, body wash and 1oz bottle of perfume for like $20, and I will most defiantly buy a 3.3oz when I use this up because I LOVE it! My Husband LOVES it!

You get a hint of citrus in the opening, with the freesia giving a sweet peppery-ness in the background. Once it dries down a bit you get more of the floral on top of the incense-y base. The patchouli is not too much, with the musk, resin and sandalwood it is a balanced smoky-sultriness. The notes trick you a bit, there is a dark chocolatey sweetness my nose picks up. Upon awaking the next day, its a delicious ambery musk with woods. The whole evolution from first spray to nose to skin scent is enjoyable for me. I even like to walk back into the room I sprayed to smell it in the air.

I really adore how this smells in chilly weather, or even on a cold rainy day. One of the times I sprayed on to test it was chilly and misty outside and oh, the wind was sort of wafting this awesome smell that I was just getting to know at me with the cool burst smell of rain. I was just waiting to get a deal and almost bought it at a higher price because to me it smells that good!

I highly recommend you test this one out and see if its for you! Its new enough that there are testers but the price is very affordable. Did I mention my Husband loves it??? This was created after her passing, but I believe Ms. Taylor would have absolutely adored this fragrance. If you like Passion, or the Original White Diamonds, this fume should speak right to your heart.

aqua76239

I really dont think it smells like "Black Pearls", which I find more dated. WDN is heady sweet with some spice and hint of fruit, very vavoom. I can see how it can sort of come across as "mature" because its not a light scent. The drydown reminds me a bit of Samsara which is probably due to copious amounts of jasmine in this scent(one of my favorite notes). I was hesitant to buy it because I am not really a fan of most ET fragrances but this was 30 dollars well spent. One spray easily lasted several hours on me which is a big plus in my book

the purple rose

A beautiful perfume with a powdery apricot and jasmine scent. I wear this with pleasure and it smells delicious.I love this scent its one of my favorites. I rate this Elizabeth Taylor beauty 10/10.

sophiesnose

This is just beautiful. It's going in my favourites cabinet. A+

Jbaule

My son gave me a big bottle of this for Christmas, thinking it was the same as the White Diamonds I keep largely for nostalgic reasons. No disappointment here, this is a wonderful scent, a true departure from what many have come to expect from the "Diamonds" line, this is warm and intoxicating, I absolutely adore it.

sunshineandroses

In the middle of all the fruity floral celebrity fragrances Elizabeth Taylor comes out with this oriental that will remind you of when perfume smelled like perfume. It is right in there with the old classic perfumes like Chantilly, Youth Dew, Shalimar, Emeraude, Tabu, Tourjour Moi, 20 Carats ect. If you liked any of these type of fragrances then Night might be for you. This is not Tinkerbelle kiddie fragrance, this will hold it's own at a New Years party. I think the mandarin orange adds a nice complement to the spice and it has a Christmas holiday smell. It is well blended and no one note dominates over the others. I found it at a reasonable price at the drugstore. It you love vintage oriental type perfume, then this is something you will want to check out.

jacob_blunkall

Classy, sexy, mature, my go to for a night out! Highly recommend.

Koralanne

Waited with crossed fingers for this gift set to mark down after Christmas and it did. I tried it tonight after bath and I am in perfume Nirvana.., it has not entered drydown yet so I suppose I could end up disappointed, but I doubt it.

I can honestly say it smells unbearably delicious to me. Very feminine, soft,a bit reminiscent of youthdew to me, but not the power horse.

Update in a.m.: the drydown is soft, but distinct. Very vintage . I love it... I can see where one reader got the toujours moi

cedar_lea

I was sceptical when I was gifted a decant of this. All of the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances I've smelled have been too perfumey for me. This one gets close but manages to stop short of overpowering.

The opening starts with some spice and a vintage feel. The jasmine, amber, and sandalwood come to the foreground and as it settles the freesia gives its wet and creaminess and combines with the jasmine. I do wish the flowers weren't so blended and I was able to focus on one or the other, but the combination isn't unpleasant. The resins are smokier now and it contrasts well with the clean freesia.

The end result is something akin to dryer sheets balanced with spices and I'm really loving it, but after a few hours its' hard to detect.

After several wearing some I realize I didn't want to like this. It smells just enough like classic white diamonds to make me hesitate when sniffing the bottle. Sometimes the silliage is a bit too loud for me. Yet, I totally love it. The clean freesia is perfect for chilly early spring days. The resins give the perfect contrast for those of us who don't like too clean of a scent but want that laundry fresh feel.

Someone pointed out to me that the freesia is similar to Jo Malone's Pear and Freesia and they are right. If you liked that you may like this. However if you found that too soapy, like I did, you may still like this because the balsamic contrast makes it shine in an exceptional way.

Alces Alces

White Diamonds Night is beautiful and in a class by itself. Glad to see the price is finally descending because I sample this every time I go to Kohl's and really like it.

Very resinous with a floral shimmer. Nothing like actual night blooming jasmine, Cestrum nocturnum, which grows like a weed by my house and makes my whole backyard smell like cheap perfume every night this time of year in the heat and humidity. Actual night blooming jasmine plants reek like dollar store body spray in a hot taxi, despite the lovely romantic name. The plant listed here on Fragrantica as night blooming jasmine must not be the same as the weedy tropical plant we grow here in the southern United States.

I don't detect that smell at all in WDN, but plan to buy it soon and compare while the plants are in bloom.

EDIT: I have had this for about a year now. Not getting the night blooming jasmine note, which is just as well since that is a stinky flower in real life. But the resin!! It's a warm waxy smell that makes me think of laminator film or melting crayons (only those who have worked in schools will know what I mean). Beautiful comfort scent. I have a terrible feeling this will become scarce soon...better stock up! You won't smell like anyone else.

eliza.gelman

Oy vey this is such a stunningly beautiful, sexy, seductive smoky Oriental fragrance. Elizabeth Taylor did not live to see the making of this perfume and that's too bad because she would have loved it and surely would have worn it herself. This perfume is reminiscent of Passion (1987) Elizabeth Taylor's debut fragrance, also an Oriental. It shares some of the same ingredients of night blooming jasmine, patchouli and musk. Oh this is such a glamorous and sophisticated rich opulent scent with minimized notes compared to the bomb that was Passion. Definitely more wearable and modern but just as luxurious.

Opens with fruity notes that are missing in Passion which goes into the dry and smoky incense/woods. This one has sweet apricot and peach as well as citrus. The apricot is juicy and thick like apricot jam. The fresh citrus gives it a boost and proceeds to segue into the white florals of freesia and jasmine. A freesia flower is not my favorite note but here it comes through as peppery spicy and the jasmine is more emphatic. This is a waxy smooth but alluring jasmine that blooms in moonlight. The white floral notes are subdued and deprived of too much sweetness though they are on the mature side.

The scent dries down into a smoke/incense and wood aroma with a clean musk. The incense is quite lovely - powdery, aromatic, with patchouli leaf. The scent is also musky but not animalic nor even super leathery. This is a dry down of woods more than anything. The sandalwood is so gorgeous. This has a good sillage-longevity and feels like a vintage. A fragrance like this comes once in a lifetime!

Pegging this as a fall/winter wardrobe perfume that matches up with leather wear - gloves coats jackets as well as faux furs and evening gowns in black or deep velvet purples. This frag is evocative of Liz Taylor in her evening gowns from Old Hollywood days with limousines red carpet movie premieres and all that jazz. A beautiful and unfortunately underrated fragrance. Ironically Passion (1987) which is now a cheap drugstore perfume sells more successfully than this one. I really love this. If you like White Diamonds this is the night time smokier and sexier version compared to the white soapy powdery original.

although it is not in the olfactory pyramid, the fragrance begins with notes of chocolate, creamy notes, then finally come the notes of resins .. no fruity notes on my skin personally, it is an underestimated perfume .. Less glamorous chic than White diamonds, a bit more girly due to its hot chocolate notes, it reminds me of one of the 5th avenue of Elizabeth Arden (5th avenue Night) although the notes described are not the same two perfumes are very close, it is not a perfume of grandmother but rather a perfume of Woman between 25 and 40 years but that men can also wear. A warm and pleasant perfume, on the other hand the holding is weak ... 2H maximum

Sprayed my wrist at the dept. store and it instantly reminded me of something from my childhood but a tad more sweeter. I went about my day, sniffing my wrist over and over racking my brain trying to figure out what perfume my Mom had when I was kid, that this smelled like.

Was is her Tabu? No, this is less sweet, more musk. Opium? Not quite, this is dryer and sharper. Tigress? Maybe, not sure, I remember loving Tigress but i don't love this, so maybe not. Think think.

After work, I bought the bottle because I do really like it. It's dark, spicy, a little powdery and a little sweet. Wore it for a few days when it hit me. It wasn't my mothers perfume I was remembering, it was mine from High School. Tourjour Moi. The Max Factor version. I didn't really love it in High School, I got rid of it because I thought it was too mature for me at the time. So I haven't actually smelled Tourjour Moi in over 30 years, so my memory may be fuzzy, but this seems a little sweeter if I recall.

Anyway it's very nice and I like it a lot.

b.a.denney

I was just out shopping with my daughter at Walmart, and spritzed this. I ended up coming home and trying to find a good deal on a larger bottle. I found a deal on HSN where they had a holiday special. I got a 3.4 oz. for about 25 including shipping. I went to bed smelling it on my hand, and it just made me happy and was amazing smelling. It's definitely very balsamic, and almost smoky. On me, the dry down is amazing. It's classy, but also sexy and sultry. I even keep getting hints of vanilla, although that isn't in the listed notes. Does anyone else smell a smoky, almost woodsy vanilla?

carolyn.parker

The packaging and bottle design is absolutely gorgeous in it's black-as-midnight theme with the diamond motif found in the other Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds And - line. Night is a fruit-patchouli floral Oriental with a smoky edge, balsam, sandalwood and musk. An exquisite luxurious fragrance worthy of the Elizabeth Taylor brand. I have the gift set with matching body lotion. The fragrance itself is very nice but this is a much better scent when enhanced with the cream-lotion. It has a decidedly mature and feminine touch, as expected from this line, but while the other frags like White Diamonds, Diamonds & Rubies, Forever Elizabeth and Violet Eyes can be worn in the day time, this one is a nocturnal animal, more of a more formal evening affair, but just as glamorous and as sexy/romantic as Passion.

The initial note is a mandarin orange mingling with apricot juice. Smells boozy and fruity, fresh, sweet. The fruity top with the dominant apricot note is a signature of the Taylor fragrances which usually contain either a bergamot citrus note or peach. The peach has been replaced by nectar. Following this fruity concoction is a white floral note of jasmine and freesia. There are no spices listed in the formula but I swear I smelt something akin to ginger or cinnamon, similar to the cinnamon in White Diamonds. Perhaps the freesia, itself a spicy smelling flower, is doing that trick. Definitely white floral and creamy with a balsamic body.

The balsams are listed here as resins and it provides this scent with that same kind of old money expensive smell as I recall smelling in Passion back in 1987. This is not as complex or as musky or showy as Passion which was a no holds bars Oriental. Instead this is a more subdued and simple scent but no less fragrant or substantial as a perfume. The sandalwood and patchouli give it a green, woodsy, aromatic air and a good base to support the other notes mainly the white florals. This scent conjures up images of black limousines, diamond necklaces, black evening gowns, black gloves, long cigar sticks, Old Hollywood glamour, the Oscars, the red carpet. It has that Elizabeth Taylor mark alright. Beautiful.

White Diamonds Night is suitable for women in their middle or older age; I would say about 40s to 60s. It is not an old lady smell at all but definitely sophisticated and mature. It's meant to be worn with your best evening wear - long gowns, black dresses, ball gowns. I would peg this as a dinner party perfume or gala perfume. It's the kind of glamorous and smoky rich scent that can be worn to cultural events like the symphony the ballet the opera or on a very romantic fancy expensive trans-Atlantic cruise like Queen Mary 2. This is just so much more beautiful than I was expecting. I'd almost given up on wearing Liz Taylor perfumes. There really is no reason now to produce them after her death but I believe Elizabeth Arden owns share in the line now and continues to make an Elizabeth Taylor fragrance every so often. It's the nature of the business. This one is a must have if you like strong classy perfume, Elizabeth Taylor's Passion and or the woman herself, who was not only such a talented actress, but a remarkable human being. Thank You Liz.

goingblonde

May be the Apricot mixed with Jasmine , but first spray is a horrible synthetic/chemical mess .
In about 10 minutes that amazingly disappears and
settles into a soft musky scent with a hint of Patchouli.
I personally won't wear it in summer .
But am looking forward to trying it more in cool weather :)
The silage and longevity both excellent ! This one is beautiful & classy like the majority of her perfumes :)

ANNAFRYS

Beautiful scent.

I don't like the original version of White Diamonds...but Today I have sampled "Night" for a first time.
Next to: Passion; Black Pearls and Night are my fav.
So rich and dark.
I see a beautiful woman... walking dressed in black...at night... she is a very mysterious...and has this type of aura.. not every woman has...

Absolutely ... amazing... perfume...I saw it today at Sears it was expensive- $42 for a bottle.
I have checked... ebay.. and it's the most expensive from all Elizabeth Taylor collection.
It's truly...rare I am glad I have discovered it today.
Def. on my list. Will blend so well with freezing weather during the winter.

Nuitdenoel

I just sampled this and it is for sure going on my want list! The first few minutes are a little rough -- like the perfume can't decide which way it wants to go, then BAM! Straight up incense, rich, velvet oriental goodness. It smells like Christmas!

EDIT: I resampled this today and I still am not crazy about the drydown. There is something that is almost unpleasant to my nose. I wish it retained the opening notes.

lindley

Kind of amazing in that it is clearly a White Diamonds perfume, and yet my White DIamonds hating girl likes it--somehow it kept the feel without the elements she finds objectionable. She gave it to me as a surprise present, in fact. Equally amazing is that it has the velvety feeling I associate with civet, yet isn't animalic. And is fruity sweet as well.

It reminds me a bit of Vanderbilt, in feel rather than notes, but more modern. Like Vanderbilt, I enjoy it so much I wear it along around the house just to luxuriate in it.

gud

Sprayed this on my pillow over 24 hours ago and it's still there.
This is a lingering sweet, powdery fragrance with long lasting softness, cozy and relaxing to wear at any time, not only at night. This smells very much the same as Intimate Fantasy by Britany Spears to me, I don't know why

phoebe25

I´m in love. Elizabeth Taylor would have been so proud of this parfume. It´s classy, and not to heavy. It has just the right notes of apricots and the romantic sounding Night blooming jasmine. It´s a perfect evening and night fragrance, sexy classy and elegant.

I bought this as a christmas present for myself, and I´m looking forward to wearing this beauty, to the christmas parties my husband and I, are going to. I got so many compliments, not only from my husband, the first evening I was wearing this.

lucia.lawson

I had to buy this

I was intrigued by the scent when I first sampled it. I placed my orders overseas from the US as I have for many years when I take an interest in American fragrances. I love Elizabeth Taylor as a woman, Hollywood actress & perfumer. I love her fragrances Passion White Diamonds, Diamonds & Rubies & Black Pearls. This perfume is a beautiful addition to your Elizabeth Taylor collection. The bottle resembles the current issue of the White Diamonds Eau de Toilette spray bottle with the rhinestones on the bottle, except the bottle is black. The scent can be best described as a fruity white floral Oriental. She has something new & old within her composition.

At the first whiff straight from the bottle: apricot & citrus. This is a dark fruit scent, of deep concentration, almost reminiscent of Femme by Rochas or Tocade by Rochas. She is fruited but not entirely fresh or bright, more along the lines of a fruit flavored champagne. Those opening notes which reached my nose were enough to get me to buy it. I was very pleased with the purchase. She is the last (and most recent) of the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances.

As soon I as I began to wear her, White Diamonds Night became a warm Oriental fragrance for winter time in the UK. I wear her to formal functions, dinners, galas, the theater, the opera & ballet. She IS warm, quite cozy like a mantle of musk over my shoulders. The scent is quite engaging with nocturnal musk, patchouli, resins and sandalwood. On me the sandalwood is quite detectable & beautiful; rich, heady, a bit too much if I over spray but which I don't mind otherwise. The scent lingers in it's sandalwood fume for a while before I finally pick on the florals.

This is a lightly textured white floral scent, with a distinct jasmine performing her night music. She is a tad on the indolic side or a night blooming jasmine but absolutely elegant, whimsical, and exotic. There is supposed to be a freesia note in here but all I kept smelling was jasmine. The jasmine became progressively smokier, like a jasmine in Shalimar. There is no vanilla in this scent nor anything too sweet. She is a mature Oriental with a serious side balanced with her more amorous and playful side - the fruit top notes. It starts off like a summer time fruit scent before it turns into a winter musk.

Elizabeth Taylor should have worn this in her lifetime. It's such a shame she did not live longer. This beautiful perfume captures her spirit and her beauty. I think this is also as other reviewers have stated, a good alternative to White Diamonds the original. She is less powdery & less intense, though equally as attractive as a glamorous perfume for th glamorous woman in all of us. This fragrance cannot be worn with a T shirt and pair of jeans. She wants you to wear her with finely tailored gowns, dresses, haute couture and ball gowns. She is a perfume meant to be worn on a romantic & beautifully dressed lady that has something of the late great Liz Taylor in her

I have tried this perfume a couple of times now when I am browsing in the local chemist. I really like it but I do not love it. It has really nice facets of White Diamonds and the screechy aldehyde is not present but more of a glimpse. I would not consider it a flanker.
The is fruit and the balsamic base which is usually an instant love for me BUT I think the ingredients are not of the highest quality that you may get in Serge Lutens or the other niche fragrances that do fruit/amber/resins well.
BUT (the second one) if I could get this for $20 AUD rather than the current $50 AUD approximately, I think I would splash this on regularly and not care about the lack of depth or intricacy of the fragrance.
It is just a really good fragrance and I continued to smell my wrist for the next two hours

A solid 3 of out 5 - only for a basement price

Oh so pretty! Was not expecting this. The bottle is beautiful in a retro way, and the scent itself is retro to me because it reminds me of the vintage, original Intimate by Revlon.

Interesting, I just noticed this is my second review, and they are totally different. This review is from a magazine sample. The first review was from a bottle.

Another reviewer (gud) said it smelled like Intimate Fantasy. That makes sense since it smells like Black Pearls, which people are also comparing to White Diamonds Night. I've always compared Intimate Fantasy to Black Pearls.

Huckleberry's review comparing this to Tourjour Moi is spot on!

While Liz may have passed on her the expansion of her perfume line continues with this uninspiring addition. I think her fragrances are pretty good but this is a pleasant amber and fruit scent with a slight 80s vibe that is pretty ordinary. The one thing I do like is that it's definitely aimed at the mature end of the market which is in itself a refreshing change. Lasts for a reasonable amount of time (4-6 hours).

Liz has definitely left the building and it shows.

Nowhere near as strong as the usual White Diamonds flankers - it is an eau de toilette and a summer release, so that would make sense.

I smell floral apricots overlaying a stronger, resinous base. Not a typical floral fruity type - rather more classic than that. It's quite long lasting without being a powerhouse fragrance and am getting rather fond of it after two or three days wear.

Feel it is one of those not too remarkable fragrances that are nevertheless very pleasant and wearable on all occasions.

Got it for a good price in the UK, £19.99 for 100ml bottle.

My black bottle collection will rival my red bottle collection soon, judging by current trends.

I received my White Diamonds Night in the post today and I must say I am disappointed, This is a very weak fragrance with little to no silage. It lays very close to the skin, The fragrance is a pleasant fragrance but this is not a night sent, I do agree with another reviewer that this should have had Black crystals around the neck and the name should have been Black Diamonds, Minus the night because this is defiantly not a night sent.I have a full bottle if anyone is up for a trade. I do like clean strong musky floral sents. :)

I bought this today and have only been wearing it a couple of hours so I haven't had time to be able to write a proper review but you know when you try something new and your brain searches through its contents to try identify what it is smelling and to give it a name? Well my brain is coming up with Must de Cartier Gold!! Not that it is a copy or anything, more like "if you like this one then you might like...... " type of thing.
Which is good as for me it means that it smells classic and elegant and sophisticated but with a reasonable price tag. This is no gourmand nor a sweet floral. This is grown up, mature, a leader not a follower, yet still suitable for all ages and sexes.
While it doesn't appear to be as loud as WD I don't think ET would be disappointed with this.

Lovesmells

nothing like the original Not loud at all. To me, it smelled sweet with some patchouli or sandalwood note. It dries up on the powdery side but quite pleasant and creamy. And I agree it can be worn day or night. Close to skin and lasting about 2 hours.
For me it was not one that I would jump to buy in the current retail stores. I am not sure that I would buy if and when it becomes available at discounters either because it does not stand out among other fragrances. It does not smell at all as Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights, which is a quite strong patchouli note

So much like Fancy Nights and Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose Amber, I just may pass. The bottle works in black. Nice vintage feel.

I bought it at Macy's. This is the newest Elizabeth Taylor fragrance. I thought it smelled very different and I repeat very different from all the other Liz Taylor perfumes especially the ones that are considered more "feminine" like Violet Eyes and Sparkling White Diamonds. This does not smell anything like that. It's a strong aromatic patchouli floral. It's a tad Oriental, exotic, mysterious but still wearable for anyone who appreciates the make-up of the Liz Taylor perfumes which are usually peach-to-floral-to-sandalwood or musk type of scents. This fragrance opens with a distinctive citrus and apricot. I love the apricot. Fruity and delicious. But it's only a tease. The sweetness disappears fast. Then I get a night blooming jasmine, very aromatic and elegant, very mature, and something just a little bit like Dita Von Teese original debut fragrance and the newest Alexander McQueen. It's all about the jasmine. For whatever reason despite the strong patchouli it has a touch of vanilla. The sandalwood and musk are very prominent in the dry down. So if you like really strong patchouli florals or fruit-chulis you'll like it. It smells expensive, luxurious, modern, but at the same time vintage. It honors Elizabeth Taylor very well. I wish she was around right now to enjoy wearing this scent herself.

Southern Blonde

Elizabeth Taylor is long gone but her fragrance line lives on. This is a perfume that, if she were still with us today, she'd fully approve of. It's a sophisticated, elegant and womanly mature fragrance for women who can pull off any Elizabeth Taylor perfume and that says a lot. There is a movie star diva quality to this fragrance. It looks simple with it's arrangement of fruity-floral-patchouli notes but there is a mysterious allure and sexiness to it. There is musk in this fragrance that I learned to love. I was skeptical it would work well with my skin chemistry since I have had previous bad experiences with both patchouli and musk. But this turned out to be a beautiful experience. It's a night perfume of stars and woods. I smell the patchouli which is like a veil of incense over sandalwood. The musk is warm and cozy. The fragrance starts off smelling like one perfume and ends like another. It feels like 2 perfumes in one. Starts off fruity with apricot and then floral with jasmine. I'm still enjoying this scent as I have only sprayed it two times on 2 different nights. I placed my order as soon as it became available and I got it at Macy's. Truly remarkable. Really beautiful fragrance. Elizabeth Taylor perfume fans will love it.

Happy Valentines to me! I have all of the ET fragrances so I had to add this one. Love the bottle, pretty and sophisticated in the black. I'm not sure about the notes,, and how they work but I know it works. Smells very pretty, and feminine. I do believe ET would be proud. I'm loving it. Seems to last well, and not overpowering as the older sister can be. It's a warm fragrance, and I can't quit smelling myself. Great job!

SorceressOfTheDark

The House of Elizabeth Taylor has introduced another perfume for 2016 called White Diamonds Night, an absolutely beautiful and sedately warm, resinous perfume, quite unlike her original White Diamonds. Do not confuse this perfume with her others if you didn’t like her former bodacious presentations. White Diamonds Night is so completely different you just might become a fan of Elizabeth Taylor perfumes if you’ve never worn them before.

This presentation is warm with resins and sandalwood that stay the entire length of the perfume. The initial spray gives you a slight citrus feel with a hint of apricot, not a fruity feel at all, just a hint of warmth to start the perfume. The sandalwood comes into play almost immediately and brings the resinous feel right into the heart of the perfume.

Jasmine and freesia are two flowers that are notes in White Diamonds Night, but I could not pick up on them with my chemistry. Patchouli is in this flanker also, but it’s very light, barely noticeable. Musk is also listed in the drydown and it’s faint but enough to mellow the perfume.

This is a familiar smelling perfume and highly pleasant. If you like vanilla-scented perfumes, you should enjoy it. The resins reminded me of a burnt, creamy vanilla along with the woods. Three sprays lasted 4 hours, altho the last two hours were a skin scent. I wear mine anytime, and especially love it wearing it to go to sleep. It's a perfect perfume for the cool nights to cozy up with and drift off to sleep.

Wearable day and night, basically anywhere. The bottle is the same as the others except for the black glass. The name might confuse people tho. It is definitely nothing like White Diamonds at all. This can be cozy, seductive, warm and sensuous ... it's a delightful perfume that wraps itself around you with such a delicious gourmand-like aroma wrapped in woods. Available only at either Macy's, Boscov's or Belk's now at full price, I'm sure once it hits discount stores, it will become a perfume you'll smell everywhere. This ET is that good.

astamm62

I think the bottle would have been really pretty, with black diamonds around the bottle. And called Black Diamonds.

matej.jedvaj

this looks good, could be liz taylor's own midnight poison type of perfume

krayonkid

This sounds delectable! Never thought I'd ever say this, but I'd love to try it out!

HannahNori

Yippee! This sounds so beautiful, I must have it. LOL
