Eau de Pamplemousse Rose by Hermès is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for women and men. Eau de Pamplemousse Rose was launched in 2009. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena.

With the Colognes collection, Hermès expands a territory of olfactive expression inaugurated in 1979 with its first Cologne, later baptized Eau d’orange verte, characterized by its refinement and authenticity. Figurative and generous expressions of instant pleasure, the Hermès Colognes offer a series of material-based olfactive vignettes. Through the gaze of Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermès affirms its own interpretation of the Cologne style, between artistic sensitivity and traditional craftsmanship.

Eau de pamplemousse rose: for this Cologne, Jean-Claude Ellena has combined a classical approach, highlighting the liveliness and freshness of citrus, with a modern sense of composition. The hesperidian theme, conveyed here by the grapefruit, takes on new life when infused with the rose. A fine balance of materials is struck, with the citrus setting the tone in harmony with the radiant gossamer of the flower.

i like to wear this as an additional layer to other fragrances, but it's also delicious on its own.

AJPkayla

Opening grapefruit note is killer. Goes away too quickly though and unfortunately the opening is the magic. Not worth price point.

D@ne

Beautiful, realistic grapefruit for 10 minutes....thereafter a vegetal-vetiver that I can't say I care for. Good thing it doesn't last very long.

SpiderMarc

I love it, should have given it a 5/5 but its flaw is it doesn’t really last.
Of course you can get the ‘Concentré de Pamplemousse Rose’ version but for this price you’d expect more performance even from an EDT.

Now ‘Vetiver Pamplemousse’ is exquisite. Smells quite similar, maybe less or no roses but its performance is better. Also a tad less bitter.

This little guy was my very first fragrance lol. I vividly remember it was 2012-2013 and I never in my life used fragrances and had no idea where to even begin. At the time I was really into indie subcultures and browsed 4chan's /fa/ board where I would always notice a recurring thread about fragrances. I owe my entire fragrance hobby to that random OP that randomly had a chart of his recent hauls and he praised this green bottle to high heavens. Through pure destiny, Sephora had that same green bottle on display, and after testing it, I was in love. The magic of fragrances is how much of an effective time machine they are, and one whiff of Pamplemousse Rose, I'm immediately transported to the indie/college campus life of 2012-2014 and all the tender nostalgia that accompanies it. Only complaint that everyone rightfully mentions: This thing is SO SO SO SO SO short. I'm not kidding, I think it lasts 30 minutes and that's being generous. A byproduct of that is you'll be spraying it numerous times, and by the end of the year, the bottle is almost empty. The scent is so incredible and nostalgically idiosyncratic, I'm willing to tolerate that enormous flaw.

Sophia97

I like the opening of the fragrance but as it dries down I feel like it has no smell. I have wasted my money on this fragrance, No projectivity barely lasts till 2 hours on my skin. I get no rosy or orangy notes when it dries down. It's defintiley not for me. I'm just wearing it for the sake of finishing the bottle.

I'm really starting to develop a strong respect for the Hermes house. I've sampled many of their fragrances and love most of them. This is one I've sampled on many occasions but finally took the plunge to buy a full bottle. Why did I wait so long? Up until now, I've always wanted the most bang for my buck. I like strong performers that last... and I still do. Especially in the fall and winter.

But I've been doing the fragrance game long enough to understand that there is also a time and a place for more subtle fragrances. There is a time for an EDC rather than an EDP (though I still don't see the point of EDT, especially men's designer EDT's).

So I recently bought this, Eau De Rhubarbe Ecarlate and Eau De Néroli Doré. Also because, these are becoming hard to find where I am, especially with Nordstrom no longer around. And also, these are affordable, with incredible bottles and classy packaging.

This one is probably the strongest performer of the three. The Grapefruit is in the top notes, then it dries down to that soapy Hermes DNA we smell in many of their fragrances. To be honest, on me, this performs moderately - I think some people are jumping the gun a bit on the longevity and sillage above being weak.

This is clean and fresh, present without screaming for attention. Perfect for a Spring or Summer day. Classy and mature. Perfect before bed, while at home or at occasions where you don't wish to smell overwhelming, perhaps a house party for example.

washudtoj

This one might just be my favourite from Hermès' basic set. The citrus is so photorealistic and fresh that only Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche and Eau Givrée can outperform. I'm really fond of citrus scents from this brand.

Longevity is not good, but again, what do you expect? It's citrus!

saho93

I think this is really unisex, perhaps slightly leaning male.
I love the grapefruit note. So zesty and refreshing. I get no orange and rose. It dries down to grassy herbal green.

I would have preferred the grapefruit note to last beyond a few minutes and then some soft rose and orange. I don’t like the dry down, but it does not project much, so it’s not a big problem.

But the opening pamplemousse is so realistic, juicy.

veda

I like this perfume so much.
The rose in it is so fresh!
I didn't buy it because of longevity.

I wish this scent would last longer on my skin, but on the other hand, I don’t mind adding more and more-because the opening is so wonderful! I think colognes are designed for regular refeshement during the day :)

stephanienwc

I love this scent. It is a beautiful and ephemeral composition. It's too bad that like many other citrus dominant fragrances that it only lasts about an hour.

miss_stinky

This was the scent of my early youth - that is, it was poetic, delicious, but as ephemeral as a champagne-fueled evening in Paris. A scent that beckons to soft, sweaty skin sticky with gin and juice - as decadent as it is delicate.

Smelly_ponzu

Not much rose. Faints really quickly. As with all citrusy eaux

Enrium

Eau de Pamplemousse Rose is another simple yet effective cologne from Hermès, this time featuring grapefruit as its focal note. Grapefruit is one of my favourite citrus notes, perhaps second only to photorealistic, sunny orange. It is also the most difficult citrus note to get right in perfumery.

Grapefruit dominates the opening, juicy, radiant and realistic. It is quite light and delicate however; the grapefruit note in Zara x Jo Malone Vetiver Pamplemousse for example, is richer, despite its fleeting performance. Some orange complements the grapefruit here nicely, emerging after a little while.

It becomes rosy as it develops, in a similar way to Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate, another of Hermès' « Eaux ». The rose is very light and dewy. It fades fairly quickly. Sillage is intimate and longevity weak.

EdPR is typical of Jean-Claude Ellena's trademark light touch - it is a fleeting, barely-there citrus cologne. Perfectly unisex, this is made for hot weather. Nice, but the performance is lacking for the price. For this reason, I would go for Vetiver Pamplemousse instead. 3/5.

RedBeardUT

I've worn this a few times on skin, I don't smell the rose but the grapefruit/pamplemousse opening is wonderful. To my nose the middle and base are vetiver done Very Well. I am disappointed that I don't smell more rose in the fragrance but I still think this is a great fragrance.

Dashalu

I have not smelled/experienced it on my own skin but still know I want it just based on testing strip and smelling it on my aunt. I’m biased because I ADORE grapefruit! And rose too…and I love fresh/spicy fragrances. Thats pretty much what this cologne is. Grapefruit and rose. I see some people are complaining about longevity but I think the strength is that of a typical edt. On her clothes it lasts a while! She sprays it on her scarf and smells like a delicious fresh citrusy rose garden! Divine. The roses smell so realistic. Even smells good on her during the fall months. I’m betting that a grapefruit & rose fan would love this. It will not project across the room but that to me is okay.

AaronT

From what I can remember this was simple yet brilliant, I was happy with this especially as a layering scent, to me this is a high end rose-sparkling water or beverage, (which doesn't smell candied or sweetened or chemically, this is just a high end sparkling rose drink) defintley a yellow or pink rose (not a predominantly masculine or predominantly feminine scent), but to me it kind of does lean ever so slighlty more masculine since the rose is just a rose not dark, not pretty and very light and pillowy just a hot weather summer yellow or pink rose that has just come into bloom, in the beginning I mentioned "rose pop, or sparkiling water" or whatever you want to call it, here I was focusing on the rose element but there definitely is a very slight sparkling factor that contributes to this, this is accompanied with a sharp, ever, ever so slighlty bitter Grapefruit and Orange to tie the Grapfruit and the Rose together, the scent as a whole is to me a very nice smelling fragrance slightly linear but it's perfect for layering, will it last long? Yes, but Will you be able to smell strongly or at all after many hours - No. It is more of a skin scent, so it does wear light, but once again its perfect for layering and when I did decide to layer it, I wore it with Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver, and this gave it more bod a different element, and amplified it that much more.

derby2169

i don't know what people are talking about when it comes to this being 'short lived'. This afternoon I went to a local store and sprayed my hand down with 2 or 3 sprays of Eau de Pamplemouse thinking this will be a softly projecting EdC that will disappear by the end of the hour. It's late in the evening and I can still clearly and vividly smell it on my skin

Essentially what you get is monotone pink grapefruit, along the lines of a pink lemonade with an underlying light floral sweetness and a drop of TdH like earthy grit. Quite reminiscent of the TdH top note in general, but a touch sweeter, cleaner and without the intense flint note. So If you enjoy TdH, but want a more unisex option, this is it.
Overall, I find it quite restricted as an interpretation of grapefruit, I much prefer vivid, tart mouthwatering grapefruit like in Heeley's Note de Yuzu. However I do prefer this to Atelier Cologne's Pomelo Paradis which goes even deeper into candy territory.
While not the most realistic grapefruit scent, I do plan on keeping a bottle of this in my collection for when all I want is a simple blast of pink grapefruit.

BeardedIris

A sparkling, light but short-lived grapefruit eau de cologne. It's put a smile on my face on a cold January day. It's fairly simple. I get 30 minutes of grapefruit, sunny, fresh, neither sharp nor sour, but without too much sweetness either and reminding me of the citrus in Terre. I feel I can pick up accents of petitgrain as it dries down and maybe a smidgen of neroli for lift (I think these contribute in part to Hermès's orange accord but I'm just guessing). And there, hovering spectrally in the background, a trace of Terre’s pale woods. If this was launched as an EdC flanker in the Terre line I don’t think we would bat an eyelid.

Overall Eau de Pamplemousse Rose has the typical qualities of the Hermès house and Jean-Claude Ellena: it's unmuddled, pin-sharp and refreshing and all about the top notes. But wearing it in winter I didn't get more than an hour's projection and another 30 minutes of skin scent, so performance will be even briefer in summer. Expect to reapply (invest in the 4 x travel size gift set!) or spray on clothing. Happy and uplifting for when you need a little citrus boost.

Fatter

On first blast you get grapefruit. They say it is pink grapefruit but I don't pick up on that. It has a chilly and watery aura. No sugar. A great summer day scent.

As much as I love Hermes and I love grapefruit, this one did not capture my heart. And I want it to so badly! I try it every time I see the green bottle at a perfume counter, hoping that today is the day my eyes open up and I realize how amazing it is. But that hasn't happened. It just isn't the pink grapefruit I want it to be.

I would also like to note it smells nearly identical to Vetiver Pamplemousse by Zara. A bitter, cooling, watery green grapefruit. I would even say the dry down in the latter is better. EdPR is said to have terrible performance, and VP's isn't that bad to be honest. Another reason why I would recommend picking up Vetiver Pamplemousse instead.

I would love to try the concentrated formula of Pamplemousse Rose in the future. I prefer Concentre d'Orange Verte over Eau de Orange Verte, so maybe it will be the same deal.

Clem1982

Lovely smell, don’t get much rose, more grapefruit. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long at all and I think you’d need to spray a lot for anyone else to smell it, which would work out pricey.

gmaster

I love grapefruit in fragrances (and in real life). This fragrance is grapefruit dominant for sure. I don't smell rose whatsoever. After a few minutes, the grapefruit turns somewhat ashy to my disappointment.
Despite that, I purchased it and I will keep it. The longevity is subpar as well, it lasts at most one hour - the kind of perfume you bring with you on a really hot day when you're on a terrasse and you want to freshen up without suffocating everyone who's already sweating bullets in extreme heat and sun.

chrisk252

Bright, citrusy bitter, refreshing scent. I don't get rose per se, but it has a floral element in the background. Very elegant and uplifting...but very weak sillage and longevity. Scent: 8.5 / 10. Longevity: 4 / 10.

pince_nez

A classic and straightforward grapefruit/rose frag that is well-executed in the inimitable Jean-Claude Ellena style. Yes, it is fresh -- like a summer drink to be had at the height of the noonday sun. Yet somehow -- despite this evanescent style/ this fizzy frothy top, it darkens and becomes spicier -- an incredible rose note appears -- dewy, dank, dark red intense and indeed beautiful! As if, having just sipped your lemonade -- you find yourself in a field of dark red roses -- its bouquet headily wafting in the breeze!

So though configured to refresh in the classic eau de cologne style, this one intrigues, beckons, and beguiles!

Recommended!

FragranceSal

A Dickensonian fragrance in my opinion: the best of times and worst of times! I absolutely ADORE this scent, a gorgeous fragrance with an amazing balance of grapefruit and rose! However, the projection and longevity, at least for me, are absolutely dismal. The longevity and sillage did not even improve much when I sprayed my hair and clothes. I rated this a "Like" as I love Hermes and particularly this scent but wish I had read reviews before purchasing as the price point is high for this level of performance. BEAUTIFUL fragrance but ultimately disappointing to me.

clemmy

It is lovely refreshing grapefruit scent. It is Eau de cologne, therefore longevity is limited.
If you love citrus is safe blind buy and safe office fragrance. 3/5

diego.lesgart

Great option for a cologne, specially on Springtime, I dare not to say Inofensive, but it is a calm and refreshing waterly cologne. I associate it with Bell Respiro by L.E.d Chanel. Botanical and citrical waterly fragance.

mutatismutandis

Pamplemousse Rose is a delightful perfume, a lovely piece of perfumery by Jean-Claude Ellena. It sits very well in the Hermes Colognes and Eaux. It is a simple trio of grapefruit, rose and orange, in that order of prominence. It's lovely and refreshing and I find it lasts about four hours on my skin. The projection is fairly minimal and it is a skin scent after twenty minutes or so. I'd say it's suitable for spring, summer and autumn and day time. I like it but I won't have another bottle as long as Hermes produce Eau d'Orange Verte, Concentre d'Orange Verte, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, and Un Jardin Sur Le Mediteranee because I like them more and they all do the same sort of thing but I prefer them. However, I would certainly recommend the perfume.

miles178

oh my daze - I love Jean Claude Ellena Hermes Colognes line ... i haven´t had any better cologne than this .. love it ...
so round, pleasant, uplifting and fizzy ..... what else to say: it´s simply Hermes!!

gildedcrystal

Frankly, this is boring and forgettable. I bought it in a 2-for-1 deal with Un Jardin En Méditérranée (my favorite Hermès scent) and honestly might just donate it to charity because it doesn't spark joy (thanks Marie Kondo).

A.K.48004L

There is a concentre version of this “ Concentre De Pamplemousse Rose EDT” a bit denser and still fresh mostly grapefruit peels that smells delicious and uplifting like shiny cool morning, a hint of rose and the rose in the edc much noticeable and brighter imo and both had a lack of longevity and sillage, but still you can enjoy the smell while it’s there especially for those who didn’t like heavy long lasting frags. and want to relax for sometime while drinking their fave coffee.

Wear this to a job interview. Wear it to a Summer funeral.

Pamplemousse Rose is my go to for a very specific sort of setting - any in which I need to come off as conservatively well put together. A situation where I don’t want to call attention to myself. Sometimes subtlety is the name of the game, and this one happens to win that game in a clean, classy fashion.

And after I am done with whatever event merits wearing Pamplemousse Rose, I will likely apply something more to my personal liking right over the top off it. No need to scrub it off first - just about any other fragrance will mask it completely.

Clearly I view this as a more utilitarian part of my arsenal. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy it, but just not as much as many of the others I own. Ultimately, I’m glad I have this for the reasons listed above. This is unlikely to offend a single soul, and many won’t even detect it. And from time to time, that is exactly what a situation calls for.

*Note: I actually own and am referring to the supposedly more intense Concentre de Pamplemousse Rose version that is not listed on Fragrantica, and it is hard for me to imagine anything being lighter than that. People aren’t kidding about the general airiness of this fragrance, so these are all things to keep in mind before seeking this out.

dvlcis

longevity fail
I smell mostly grapefruit. Grapefruit juice, rose petals. All fine and natural smelling- quite remarkable, so far so good.

In 10 minutes it's gone, from clothes/skin/even hair.

The bottle is pretty. The scent of a grapefruit scented shower gel would outlast "Pamplemousse Rose" for sure.

Austrian_in_Denmark

So beautiful during the first minutes: citrussy goodness, very tart and happy! A pick-me-up for summer. I get pure and realistic grapefruit from it - which I love.
However, after the first minutes, Pamplemousse Rose gets very woody. I know it is not listed as an ingredient, but there it is: a sharp wooden note, like cedar, and too aggressive for my taste.
For an Hermès, it stays quite long on my skin - four hours at least. (I love many Hermès-scents, but they often are super-shortlived on me.)
I am sure that this is one of the many beautiful scents that are better on others than on me.

SeaElle

Note: Someone below said this notes are wrong here - that rose here means red. In French, “rose” can indicate a color (pink) or the flower. Rose is a note here, and I believe the name of the fragrance refers to the Rose note.

Grapefruit is always a bit sweaty on my skin (and downright urinous in the case of YSL In Love Again) and this one is no exception. However, if you’re like me, and stubbornly looking for a grapefruit note you can wear, this is worth a try. The rose doesn’t hide this sweat, but plays well with it. The sweat becomes agreeably animalic against the rose - although that’s just to my nose. I wouldn’t take my chances with it in a crowd, but I like having a decant on hand for my own private enjoyment.

If Pamplelune is a giant 2 liter bottle of bright, aggressive, bubbly sweet citrus soda, Pamplemousse Rose is tiny sip of rose tea in the morning with a solitary spoonful of ripe, unsugared grapefruit. Pamplemousse Rose is notoriously fleeting, but the grapefruit in the beginning is the most precise and realistic grapefruit I’ve experienced in a perfume. Many other perfumes that claim to have that note never seem to render it so realistically, or they muddle it with too many other citrus notes to really appreciate it.

This is real grapefruit: bitter, bracing, not at all coquettish. It isn’t hinting at, gesturing toward, or interpreting grapefruit. It just is, unapologetically. It doesn’t last, no matter how much I overspray, but it’s beautiful while it does. It dries down rapidly to a pretty but unremarkable rose. It’s too short lived for me to justify the price of a full bottle to anyone, but lovers of these juicy, bitter globes of fruit ought to sample it at least once.

待我撕开半里这晨昏的乾坤

清新的味道,有点酸,有点甜,还不错,简单明了的美。就是这留香真的是留不住的香啊

Lishypants

I wish cardamom was in the pyramid - its super prominent and last longer than the grapefruit note imo.

Fresh grassy citrus with a little soapyness at the drydown and a very realistic green cardamom note throughout. I do pick up orange too in the first 5 minutes. Really nice but so fleating.

AMajeedQT

A true minimalist, natural scent of rose & citrus with cardamom spiciness reminiscent of Terre de Hermes vetiver.

It is very nice & light comfortable wear. In fact, it's too light to pay ~$80 for such scent. It performs like a $10 fragrance!

It smells & feels like a release by those "natural cosmetics" houses like Yves Rocher, The Body Shop, L'Occitane, Bath & Body Works...etc.

Unless you reaaally love it or just like it that light, I wouldn't recommend spending your money on this.

I've never tried Yves Rocher's Cyprès et Pamplemousse but per the ratings it smells similar. Try that & see if you can save yourself some money.

SouthernPine

The most minimalist and natural grapefruit I've ever tried. I do really love it but... it doesn't love me - and disappears from my skin in minutes. Sad story.

Bubbles1964

A light, natural grapefruit and rose scent in the typical JCE style. Loved the first 10 minutes, a juice I could bathe in. The rose emerges in the drydown and it’s a little spicy/musky. Gone in about an hour, which falls in line with other Eau De Cologne’s from this line.

zhiang0113

Opens with a juicy grapefruit with rosy nuances, like a freshly squeezed glass of juice with a couple rose petals sprinkled on top. The drydown is a typical citrusy one, nothing special, but I love citruses so this fragrance is a "like". The longevity and sillage are both poor though, but this is a nice refresher on hot days.

Hassan321

I love this one although I only wear it inside my house since it literally has no projection and only lasts for a maximum of 2 hours; other than it I love it.

GRAF

This is a simple, fresh-citrusy scent with a tiny rose for warm weather, daytime, with low moderate longevity of about 3.5 hours and soft sillage. It opens with very fresh citruses and then comes a light and fresh rose. Overall the vibe is similar to Les Parfums de Rosine Rosissimo which smells much better, is more natural and has much stronger performance. If you like Pamplemousse Rose, try the Rosine Rosissimo because it's much better in everything.

rjf

Grapefruit, rose. Dries down to lemon hard candy.

trabuquera

Like getting a rare smile out of a famously grumpy friend: this shows the sweeter side of an often acerbic character. Lovely, photo-realistic juicy grapefruit which at first gives you a sharp enough smack in the nose to really wake you up and freshen up your ideas. This beautiful opening does fade, but it doesn't morph into some whole other thing - the mood is consistent throughout. It tends towards the prettier rather than the butch-er side of citrus (Miller Harris Le Pamplemousse, for instance, is a much rougher and more persistent beast than this, but it does that by having a huge bang of oakmoss to it, which the Hermes doesn't) - but it's still a true unisex. The only thing you need to enjoy this one is a nose and a sense of fun.

I only tried the EDC so wasn't surprised that it died away almost completely in 2-3h, but it is really lovely. Personally I didn't even twig that the more fragrant, floral element in this was rose - which for me is a plus - it's blended well and doesn't steal the show from the main ingredient. Will definitely seek out the concentree version instead if buying any more, but on the aesthetic side at least, this is a winner. Love the way it smells, just wished it smelled *more* like that for longer!

Pheromones

Jean-Claude Ellena described it as "A bitter-sweet cologne: freedom in tradition." But for me it's citrus-sweet. The freshness of the citrus fruit is lively and tasty. The freshness make it perfect for a stroll down a pier on a nice day (no hotter than 23 degrees) in white tshirt and stone wash jeans. The zesty falvour of grapefruit takes on a whole new level. But I guess all good things must come to an end and some far too sooner than others!

Sillage - 5/10
Longevity - 4/10
Scent - 7/10

I literally have to take this bottle out with me when rocking this theme for reasons that are two fold 1. The scent does not last as long as I would like. 2. The top notes are far too intoxicating to leg go so the top is well worth it.

jovejove

There’s going to be a new Hermès fragrance being launched from the cologne series that’s more masculine, representing the Persian Black Lemon; silicilian lemon, black Ceylon tea and guaiac wood. Smells AMAZING and I have it on. This post is for those people that say, “how can you vote when it’s not out yet”.

jomarie_veloso

@Timby did you use it in a warm climate?

Timby

Though the scent itself is ok, it is so weak and has such little staying power, I cannot recommend this, and certainly not at the going price.

ramin1215

La danse (I) by Henri Matisse 1909

chinook

It's a unisex scent that is close to skin. It's a juicy orange when I first spray it, then it becomes more aromatic when it's on the skin. It has that similar vibe that other Hermes perfumes have.

HOUSTONHOUSTON

One of the best in this Hermes line. Very subtle, gone in 15 min. and for this reason it is very expensive. Summer fragrance.

kl99

Now there is the concentree version of fragrance in satinee glass bottle.

A long summer beguin.

carlosdavidz

I'm sorry, but this scent is too weak and soft that it doesn't worth a try. The scent is very good (at the beginning), then it fades away to quickly that you don't even have the time to feel another notes. This was a blind buy for me, and I'm very dissapointed.

curdie

Eau de Pamplemousse Rose! Such a gorgeous name! And I love the perfume, and also the fabulous colour. It's divine. The perfume's lovely. Grapefruit. Beautiful. It's a truly delicious grapefruit. Very natural, juicy and fresh. Mmmm. It stays for an hour, then becomes slightly more orange, which is still nice, in a milder, sweeter way, and then slowly, I start to detect a lovely lovely rose, which gradually gets stronger, over about another hour. It stays like that for a while, then changes to smelling greener and a bit spicy. It's really beautiful. Altogether the lovely perfume lasts for about 4 hours, which I don't mind at all, because I love re-spraying, and going through it's lovely stages again, and again.

I love it. It's beautiful.

cats8398

Started off with one of the best grapefruit openings of any fragrance I've ever tried. Sadly it lasted less than a minute. It then turned into something I can barely describe. Powdery, grass, flat and medicinal? If it had only stayed like the first minute.

avaloncm

Like the last Hermes, scent gone in 10 min. Do people actually buy this stuff?

OTA Mom

Concentre: Likeable but a bit old-fashioned, and produced in the sort of watercolor-fashion way the "Garden"s have been but with slightly better longevity.

rakan1985

80% day/ 20% night fragrance
nice grass and green scent
reminds me of Un Jardin Sur Le Toit but this one is more citrusy

Oamae

Has that Hermes lemon quality to it, mixed with a light, sweet, grapefruit. It's slightly acidic, but also sweet, like putting the right amount of sugar on a grapefruit. Like a lot of unisex scents, this one get very close to bordering on masculine but it's the perfect balance of sweet/sour grapefruit that bring it back.

ScarlettX

This is very good.
A light summer fragrance where citrus is mixed with rose very nicely. This is like a breath of fresh air to me.
A beautiful green bottle as well! Lovely thing, only a little too weak for the price, an expensive body spray

chanelnumerocinq

This fragrance is absolutely delightful for summer. The opening is a burst of very realistic grapefruit. Delicious, bittersweet, fresh, and juicy. Dries down quickly to more of a bitter orange peel than juice of the grapefruit. The pretty rose note is very light and adds a nice sweet floral touch but overall this is more of a citrus fragrance. Not strong but actually surprisingly lasts quite well despite not containing any traditional base notes and for being a citrus based cologne. Pamplemousse Rose is unisex and fantastic for hot weather. I took it with me to Puerto Rico, where as you can imagine the weather is always sweltering and humid. Spraying this cologne had me refreshed during my vacation. Highly recommend trying it.

I'm reviewing the EDT (Concentre), which comes in the frosted glass bottle.

I don't have a lot to say about this that hasn't been covered by others. Very realistic grapefruit smell on the initial spray, like peeling a fresh piece of citrus. This gives way, over time, to a lovely rose note. I'm not normally a big fan of the heavy, dark rose as it is traditionally found in a lot of fragrances (eg. TF Noir de Noir); This is light, and very much smells like a fresh cut rose. It's a very cheerful, bright scent.

Projection is pretty restrained, but the EDT lasts longer than the EDC by about double for me. Given that it is almost exclusively citrus and florals, I don't mind this being the sort of scent that exists on the fringe of my senses. I tend more towards deep heavy woods, but this is a good scent for summer or a post-workout shower, I'd definitely prefer this over the typical sport scent.

If you buy it online, it can be found at pretty reasonable prices.

Gave it to my husband and I like it on him. Very clean and neat

beate.geibel

This perfume has a lot of airy elegance to it.

Grapefruit is dominant, rose is very very subtile. A likable scent cause its so airy, light and delicate. almost a shy perfume ;-)

BUT and this is a big BUT, it doesnt last very long, therefor the price is to high even keeping in mind, its a Hermes perfume.

Perfume: 8/10
Price: too high

A citrusy rose sounded delightful in retrospect, especially to this one particular lady that tends to suffer through Australian Summers craving such things. Hermes Eau De Pamplemousse Rose popped up in my radar early this year and I headed straight down to my local department store in the sweltering heat to feel the relief of a crisp, green rose hitting my skin.

The relief was unfortunately very short-lived as this fragrance is very much a cologne in both strength and longevity. It has taken me six months to finally sit down and write a review for Eau De Pamplemousse Rose.

I'll begin my saying that grapefruit doesn't usually favour my skin chemistry. For some reason this fresh citrus note turns very sweaty on me, and nothing I do can detract from the bad body odour vibe I get from this accord. Unfortunately the most dominant note in Eau De Pamplemousse Rose is grapefruit rather than the rose as I had hoped.

I have had to spray this fragrance on fabric to fully enjoy it, and I have found it crisp, green and pleasant but also a tad boring. Hermes has such expensive price tags that you can't help but expect the world from each and every one of their fragrances.

Its bright, citrusy nature is a mood-booster in itself, and in mild Summer weather I believe Eau De Pamplemousse Rose could really shine. Unfortunately anything with grapefruit in the scent pyramid can never be worn by me, but that's not to say that this fragrance can't work for you. I hear that Hermes released a more concentrated version of this fragrance in the form of an EDT, so if better longevity is what you're seeking I'd suggest tracking down a bottle of Eau De Pamplemousse Rose in the EDT rather than the cologne.

Arlene-Beatrix

I like its top notes, I like its base notes, I only have a problem with its middle notes. It seems to me that I can smell some grass even if it is not listed!
However, I must admit that longevity is perfect for a cologne. Also, it is totally unisex fragrance. An explosion of pleasant citruses.

Nicolas V

Very fresh and zesty straight out of the bottle. Grapefruit peels and other bright citrus are tossed in the spring sun with just a suggestion of rose in the background. I also sense a bit of anise, but perhaps that is the magic of the artist, creating a third accord entirely out of the two headliners.

Yes, it is fleeting, but so is life. It is an EdC, so it is what it is. And it is lovely.

Perfect for spring and summer, men and women, boys and girls, the office or a beautiful day in the sun. Reserved yet inspiring and exhilirating like a finely manicured and freshly bloomed garden. Spray it on your clothing for extended longevity.

Thumbs up.

RayF

I just bought a tiny travel sized spray of this EDC today and I'm not surprised that it smells amazing (its Jean-Claude Ellena of course!) Can't be better for a lovely but still chill-in-the-wind spring. A beautiful balance between energetic and enthusiastic citrus notes and those soft, round roses. I can smell more of the citrus peel instead of the actual fruit, which is actually better since I prefer bitter fruity or leafy notes like fig leaves and grapefruit peels. However as others have said, this Cologne is very short-lived, about 30min on my wrist.

possumke

Hi Everyone,
just thought that I would inform the people who are so disappointed in the weakness of this Edc, that Pamplemousse Rose DOES come in an EDT version, it is called CONCENTRE de PAMPLEMOUSSE ROSE.
Fragrantica should add it into the data base.

leschoux

I received a sample of Eau de Pamplemousse Rose along with my most recent purchase of Un Jardin Après La Mousson and I was instantly reminded of one of my Dad's perfumes which I really loved, so I immediately took a liking to this.

Like many other Hermès perfumes, Eau de Pamplemousse Rose is a modest, unassuming and earthy scent. To be honest, it reminds me of the Un Jardin collection a lot. It's like watercolour painting in a bottle: soft, airy and almost...glacial in the way that it's such a cool air to it. Opening is rather harsh and bitter with loud citrusy notes but it quickly changes into something really, really fresh and cooling. Can't really smell the roses though, unless you sniff hard enough. Anyway, if you want to keep smelling this you'd better spray it near your neck pulse points or even on your hair.

Longevity and sillage, as mentioned copiously before by others here, are rather awful but I kinda like how it's such a soft and, dare I say, shy scent. It's not for everyone--if you like bold, flashy perfumes you'd fare much better with those from Chanel or YSL. I personally like it, but for the price I'd probably think twice or thrice before splurging on a bottle of this. Still, a very likeable perfume and if you're into citrus/Un Jardin series you'd probably find this as lovely as I do. Pity that they don't make this stronger because if they do, I believe there'd be a lot more people who'd willingly get this one.

Rating: 8.5/10

EDIT:
Got myself the Concentré (EDT) version of this and it doesn't disappoint! Stronger grapefruit smell with very delectable drydown. If you like this but can't stand the strength of the EDC, do yourself a favour and try the EDT version. You won't regret it.

AZJeff

This is a nice citrus fragrance. The rose note is in there but it's hiding more a less. "Grapefruit" by Jo Malone isn't as good as this one. That one is a unisex perfume and it's Grapefruit scent is more pungent and sort of synthetic. This isn't very strong and it just sits close to the skin. I guess the reason being that it's a EDC. Why couldn't they have made it a EDT?

SNOOPY

Lasts about as long as a fart in a hurricane.Spill grapefruit juice on your clothes
It will do the same thing as this and last much longer.
Someone may even notice it.
Why do most hermes just smell like grapefruit or cut grass?
I do not like to be perceived as giving a negative review but i expect more than a single note for $125.oo
Was hoping for the rose, where are the roses?
Longevity to price ratio puts this off my list alone.
Even my hound could not find the rose!

Fhaldara

Fabulous! Opens with a sharp burst of grapefruit, then settles into a soft rosy citrus, reminiscent of palmarosa with a slight musky note at the end. Like cutting into a grapefruit on a summer morning with the scent of a rosebush drifting in through a window.

glamgirl

One of my favorites... light, citrusy, with a fresh sweetness that doesn't overpower.

dsty

Eau de pamplemousse rose starts with a great, realistic grapefruit opening that lasts for all of 10 minutes. At this stage it's juicy and bitter, but not too extravagant; lovely! After that, woody notes start to dominate on my skin, as they usually do for me. They're not listed here, but I don't smell much else at this point. If I try really hard, I can imagine I smell some rose in there, but I'm not sure. It's not a bad scent by any means; a pleasant, subtle, woody type of fragrance with some citrus lingering in the background. This phase doesn't last very long either, and then it's gone.
I was hoping for something with a bit more kick and a lot more grapefruit, so this isn't the one for me. I'll retry it later, maybe it works better on a very hot day, or when I'm experienced enough to start craving very subtle perfumes.

marioslg3

By far the most interesting grapefruit peel fragrance...fresh, tarty, sweaty and masculine. Classic JC Ellena fragrance.

laantjebanaantje

Eau de Pomplemousse Rose is the first Hermès fragrance I tried (my boyfriend's mother used to own a bottle) and I remember being quite unimpressed. I thought it was a relatively nice citrussy cologne with a nice grapefruit opening and terrible staying power. Ellena's fragrances, I decided too quickly, do not match my style.
Nowadays, with a taste for slightly more subtle perfumes and two Hermès/Ellena bottles in my collection, I know I should revisit Eau de Pamplemousse. So I did.
The opening is the most true to life, breathtakingly sparkling burst of grapefruit. It is a perfect rendition of the moment when you cut a pink grapefruit in half and inhale the scent of the sharp bittersweet juice and the bitter oil of the peel. Truly beautiful.
Then the fragrance dries down and you are left with the bitterness of the grapefruit peel, supported by salty vetiver and woods (iso-E Super?). This blend is joined by some rose but doesn't develop much beyond this point. I'm reminded somewhat of Cartiers Déclaration d'un Soir. I haven't smelled original Déclaration, but if it's in any way similar to its flanker, I suppose my association makes sense.
Longevity is indeed an issue here but I do love the fragrance. The fresh bitterness is just a perfect pick-me-up, but despite its relative simplicity (maybe minimalism would be a better word) it is much more interesting and longer lasting even than that other great grapefruit themed fragrance: Guerlains Pamplelune.
Definitely recommended for all grapefruit lovers out there!

aqua76239

I was trying some fragrances at Hermes store and this caught my attention. Nice SA gave me a generous sample and I have been wearing it for couple of days.
Now, this is mostly citrus, with no much rose. You get a hint but no more. Its very unisex, citrusy and zesty scent. Its nice but not mindblowing. What's also not mindblowing is the lasting power-after barely 5 min it turns into skin scent and stays that way-I got maybe 2 hours out of it, if that. And no one could smell it on me. Worse than power of bodyspray. I thought it was me but I since spoke to several women who had the same experience. And for the price, it should last a LOT longer. This is not something I would buy even thought the scent itself is nice enough-if they increased lasting power, then we will have something. But I used my my whole sample in one day because I had to spray it all the time just to smell it.
No thank you

Phantosmia Bella

First you get a huge spray of grapefruit juice - zesty and fresh.
When it dries down, the bubbly rose emerges, and the combination is sheer bliss.

A great summer fragrance (I think it'll give a fair fight to my Mandarine Basilic by Guerlain), perfumy but light enough for hot days.

This is a happy, happy fragrance, IMO mainly made for daytime use.

Longevity is quite good for a citric scent and sillage is good as well.

OlfractalInfemme

I much prefer the concentree.

AND-MAT

This is so soft, so light that once sprayed you might forget you are wearing it!

Grapefruit and rose blend so well in it's simple yet perfect combination. Jean-Claude Ellena loves citrus notes... And I have to say that few other perfumers know how to make them shine like he does!

OK, it may be a skin scent, but it's wonderful. Grapefruit in general tends to be bitter, however in here, it's sweet! Not sugary sweet, but rather naturally sweet... It's confusing but I think that the addition of the rose broke down the bitterness of the grapefruit.

Sure it does not stay long, but it's not that weak... You get a nice 3 hours from it and maybe more! 7.5/10

drlaurel

There's pepper in there I tell ya. It's somewhere between the top notes of the grapefruit/citrus and the drydown of rose (real rose, not dark rose not sweet rose, just ROSE rose). It's a perfect summer scent, i feel so fresh and light when I wear it. I don't get masculine at all like some other reviewers mention. But I wear a lot of men's colognes...so maybe my idea of masculine is a lot stronger. I would find it weird if I smelled it on my husband. But if you love grapefruit and rose, even if you are a guy, this is one of the finest I have found.

happyscent

Eau de Pamplemousse Rose – on my nose this was a good interpretation, light floral, rose scent not the dirty smell or decaying rose interpretation and can be worn by a man

Nickie

Grapefruit rarely works well on me but, tempered with the sweet rose this cuts just the right balance. It's both uplifting and comforting.

Weak with soft silage, EdPR has a brief journey, but I enjoy it for what it is. If the bottle weren't so heavy I'd carry it in my bag for periodic top ups. As it is, I rarely wear it to work as I know within a couple of hours I'll need to refresh. However, it is a very beautiful unisex fragrance and one I really should showcase more regularly.

Liebetx

Unisex, for me. I layer it with Tea Rose when I want a prettier, more floral scent.
I can wear this year round but it's especially nice in the summer.

Surely citrus & rose are not the only notes? I get something earthy & warm that reminds me of a tack room on a summer day. Maybe leather or some type of grass? Which is why I immediately had to buy it instead of the Hermes Voyage I had in hand to buy when the sales person handed me a sample strip. I smelled it and stated, "Smells like horse, but in a good way." I know, bizarre. But it's not a bad thing. Fellow equestrians and horse lovers will know what I speak of when they smell this. I feel like I can wear this out after leaving the barn and not smelling like a barn.
I really wish Hermes would list the notes in their scents.

hsd1

Such a great fresh grapefruit smell for the first hour or so. Then becomes a nice clean, soft rose musk. I want to keep spraying this to continue that initial smell! Unisex for sure, both my husband and I like. It lasts no more than 2 hours on him, perhaps a bit longer on me. Still want a bigger size of this than my little sample. Will try the concentre in hopes it will last longer.

Ziggy2012

I blind bought this. When I first tried it in the height of summer, perhaps I expected too much, and I was a little disappointed. The opening was really wonderful and refreshing and the notes worked so well together, and I liked it very much but it didn't seem to last at all on my skin, and seemed gone in a very short time.

I decided that it was perhaps one of those fragrances which might be wonderful to spritz with after a shower but just wouldn't stay with me, and resigned myself to having made a slightly expensive mistake.

Then....Eureka ! I had just been too timid with the usual number of sprays on arms and neck when I first tried it. However, when i used it more as a body spray, with perhaps six or seven sprays on upper body and arms, it was amazing, and lasted and lasted for many hours even in the high heat.

Citrus fresh and subtly sweet, 'well mannered' with modest sillage. Truly unisex. Through the day I kept smiling as I got a whiff of it, and all those who smelt it were positive. And the same happened when I used it in the same way subsequently

Definitely more for spring and summer, but it is now definitely one of my fragrances for warm weather.

carla001

Lovely,a happy summer perfume that makes me think of happy hot days wearing pretty floatly summer dresses.

christianne1

Phenomenal opening if you like grapefruit...it is fantastic...but the grapefruit disappears pretty quickly and it settles into nearly the same citrus scent I end up with from all of the Hermes colognes from this line in the green bottle. They all smell so similar after 5-10 minutes that it is hard for me to even distinguish one from the next. I think this is what disappoints me with these. They start on a very high note then I end up with the same thing as before from another green bottle. They just all end up smelling like a mixed citrus vetiver on me no matter which one I put on. But it is a very pleasant scent that I enjoy, it is just strange to me to have an entire line that smells almost exactly the same after 5 minutes.

This needs to be applied to your hair and clothes if you want to still smell it at all after an hour. My skin just drinks up this cologne pretty quickly.

2746cstreet

This is a nicely bitter grapefruit. It's brightness conveys more of a "yellow" to me than a pink grapefruit as the name would imply. Next to it, the rose actually comes off a bit jammy and gourmand. I'm pretty sure there is vetiver in here as well, and that's what makes it acceptably unisex to those who don't gender bend with fragrance.
I start to get orange in the drydown. I sort of wish that extra bit of sweetness wasn't in here.

aqua_de_la_vita

After sampling Eau de Pamplemousse Rose Concentrate, I found it to be a real robust aroma of real citrusy/grapefruit and touch rose scent !!!!!
When I sprayed it on my skin, this frag is FANTASTIC.. WOW again W O W !!! I have never come across a frag that gave me such an AWESOME feeling like this frag did when I tried it for the first time. It usually takes few times before I buy any fragrance. I tried this frag in the morning during my break, not even two hours later I was already hooked so I bought it in a flash. I received so many compliments in those two hours, I knew this was an GREAT frag and that I would really enjoy using this frag everyday during the spring/summer !!!!
I am amazed that it only has four notes: rose, grapefruit, lemon and oakmoss. As soon as I sprayed it on my skin, I get an enormous rush of grapefruit/lemon aroma which it is pleasant. The rose and oakmoss ( it is listed as one the ingredients) notes give it enough depth which stays on my skin well over 6-8 hours.
I agree with another person that Hermes could sell this in gallons and it would be worth it !
longevity, 10++ on my skin beyond my expectation for a summer frag.
Sillage is also excellent, you can smell it more then 4ft away.

Overall opinion, Hermes fragrances are one of the finest quality products that exists in the market which is also well affordable. I own four frag's and I use them at least 3x a week with the wide range of other frag's that I also use.
EDT DE PAMPLEMOUSSE ROES DE CONCENTRATE is stunning, and a excellent fragrance !!!!!!!!!!!!!....Bravo Hermes

FiaM

I'm reading alot of reviews that complain of a weak longevity. I sprayed it in my hair at the base if the neck after a shower, it lasted 8 hours. On skin the longevity was about 1 hour.

wesleyhclark

Hermes needs to sell this by the gallon, because if this is your thing you'll be using a lot of it.

The grapefruit (pamplemousse - I had to look it up) lasts, oh, about a minute or two. Then it's gone. (It's a wonderful smelling grapefruit, however - not at all synthetic.) I do believe this is a new evaporation speed record for any scent I've tried.

The rosy scent lingers for an hour or two, then that's gone, too. Time for more!

I like this stuff - it's one of the few florals I can stand smelling on myself - but, wow, longevity is awful. I ought to time this and 4711, Guerlain's Eau de Cologne Imperiale and Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte to see which one disappears the most quickly.

patxaran

I have just tested the cologne version of this. Beautiful non-gourmand grapefruit. It is perfumey rather than "juicy mouthwatering" but without being artificial. I could see myself wearing this for a business meeting in hot summery temperatures. It is a unique cologne and does what a cologne should do. I would not expect monster longevity from this type of scent, however the spray on my hand is still noticeable even after washing my hands a few times. Maybe it will disappear faster on a hot day though, which is not a problem if you are willing to reapply every now and then. Last time I used cologne or "colonia" was when living in Spain and I did not like the typical (budget) cologne scents. This one here is the complete opposite: unique, classy and perfumey in a good way.

Lucbyrnes

This smells fantastic, for about 25-30 minutes. Then comes the magic. It's GONE! I got a sample of this and boy am I glad I didn't actually buy it. I guess I just don't see the point of owning a fragrance that lasts less than an hour.

fenxx

Very authentic, crisp grapefruit, as someone who loves the taste and smell of grapefruit i was very impressed by it.

It's a very refreshing fragrance that is perfect for summer days.

To those who complain about longevity, you might be trying the Cologne version. There is an EDT version that comes in an identical bottle - but frosted glass instead of clear.

juicemaven

I tried this at the duty free and loved it instantly. I love the depth of this scent. Contrary to most, its the orange not the grapefruit that I get initially. To me it smells of a sweet and sour orange (grapefruit?) with rose weaving thru, all atop the oakmoss that is not mentioned in the notes. The oakmoss seems to give an immpression of moistness. It is pricey and the sillage is not the best but this stayed with me for hours, however, I usually don't apply perfume to my skin outside of testing the fragrance unless it is a natural fragrance. So maybe this is why my experience of longevity was fine. For me this is pure pleasure and indulgence.

raw umber

I compared three grapefruit fragrances today: Eau de Pamplemousse Rose by Hermes, Guerlain's Acqua Allegoria Pamplelune, and Hesperides by Fresh.

Eau de Pamplemousee Rose is a bright authentic citrus, beginning with fresh sour and sweet juice and the bitterness of the peel, like a halved yellow grapefruit served in a crystal dish. The grapefruit starts off sharp and natural, but is quickly softened with gentle florals in a crystal vase in the background. This is an elegant scent that is so true to a real grapefruit, I almost expected my wrist to be sticky from the juice.

As it wears on, the sharpness of the grapefruit fades but the sweetness remains, and one is left with a Sun warmed citrus-floral, like waiting on a bench in perfect weather while your friend returns from getting some ice cream.

Hesperides smells like a pleasantly scented grapefruit toy for girls. It smells like a grapefruit vitamin C lozenge. It is sweet though not in a cloying or excessively cheap way, but there is no depth whatsoever to this fragrance. It is a matte, pale yellow grapefruit pillow. It would be a nice first perfume for a girl between the ages of 8 and 12.

Guerlain's Acqua Allegoria Pamplelune smells much less realistic than Eau de Pamplemousee Rose. On my skin, Pamplelune's grapefruit is layered with a subtle ammonia-like almost urine element, which might be a failed attempt at the bitterness of the grapefruit peel, an (off) green aspect, or some sort of pepper/earth note. It is quite unpleasant, and the ammonia element persists throughout the dry-down.

Eau de Pamplemousee Rose has pretty poor longevity, though this means you can keep applying it throughout the day in order to relive that juicy opening. In my opinion, EDC is the perfect concentration for this fragrance, because true to life citrus is most refreshing when experienced in short bursts.

pbluberry

It's funny how this line of Hermes mostly smells very similar. When I put this on or Concentre D'Orange Verte, Eau D'Orange Verte, and Eau de Cologne Hermes all has the same underlining smell. They all are citrusy at varying degrees of citrus or type of citrus. I do enjoy them all. The only way I can make out the differences is to spray them all on individual papers and sniff. There is quite differences in them.

This I can smell rose which none of the others has. It's funny that the grapefruit is sooo overpowering that it's the only thing I smell most of the time.... but then once in a while the rose comes out to play. I would be driving in the car and think to myself... where is this nice rose scent coming from and then eureka... it's the pamplemousse rose.

The only bad thing about this line of Hermes is that it's a cologne which means no lasting power at all.

sherapop

It's hard to believe in some ways that grapefruit colognes have become an independent genre, but their numbers continue to augment, so we can be very selective if we want. Hermès CONCENTRE DE PAMPLEMOUSSE ROSE is a good one, no doubt, and may appeal to those who find that the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria grapefruit entry (PAMPLELUNE) veers too close to dreaded "cat box" territory. I myself do not perceive it in that way, but apparently quite a few reviewers do.

In this Hermès grapefruit "concentrated cologne" (an idea recently turned into an entire line by the house of Atelier Cologne), there is just as much vetiver as grapefruit, and the citrus is both tart and smooth somehow, as contradictory as that may seem. I'd say that the citrus scent is closer to zest than juice, and it smells very natural without being overwhelmingly grapefruity. Is there really supposed to be rose in this creation? Or does "pamplemousse rose" mean "pink grapefruit". That's how my nose reads it...

For better or for worse (better in my case...), I myself do not find very much overlap between this composition and TERRE, as do some reviewers, and for me this simple yet satisfying composition works very well in both hot and cold weather. All in all, CONCENTRE DE PAMPLEMOUSSE ROSE is a fine and refreshing citrus-vetiver cologne, and I do not believe that one must be a grapefruit nut to wear it, especially since in the drydown the vetiver becomes much more important than the citrus.

I have not tried the diluter version, but this one has pretty good longevity.

Arkira M.

Nice & Classy smooth citrus scent that i can't stop smelling myself after spray but OMG it's almost gone in 30 mins. It's light & fresh & liveliness which i really love but too poor longevity. I can't feel rose but feel over-standard citrus. I think it has more notes than just citrus & rose, possible vetiver.

I need to bring handed decant to top up during the day when it's gone. By the way, the price maybe not worth for this fast gone scent but i need to accept that the scent is really good. They can put this fragrance into their Jardin line. If you love Terre d'Hermes & Eau de Orange d'Verte, you will love this scent. Another safe but extraordinary scent.

PoeDiggity

I loved this from the second I tried it at Saks. It stayed with me all day. It smells great mixed with Bond No 9 Eau De New York, they're fairly similiar... but beware, this will make some people sneeze.

PolarBear2

It wasnt even 5 minutes after spraying on my wrist and I couldnt smell it anymore...its just gone !

fresh_scents

I'm still testing Eau de Pamlemousse, but so far so good. It has some staying power on my skin which is contrary to the experiences of other reviewers. It's not a fragrance that I would usually consider trying two and three times, but it has grown on me. However, the price has scared me away.

DresdenDoll

You can always tell an Ellena scent. They do have a similar feeling and this one is no exception. Amazing grapefruit opening. Leads into a light green, somewhat herbal dry down. Smells to me just like Pacifica Lotus Garden. But typically for a Hermes Ellena creation, it is fleeting. Not worth the price.

Matt Oldham

I foolishly bought this when it came out. The grapefruit was so like-wow. But it only lasts 3 minutes. And it's not cheap. And the rest doesn't smell like anything in particular. A serious ripoff. If the grapefruit could be made to last it would be wonderful, better than Guerlain Pamplelune, which I love and is a reasonable price.

witch_mum

One of the few scents where I can tolerate pamplemousse, more over: I like it!

The beginning crispy notes from pamplemousse turn into a VERY slightly rose scent but it won't be a big floral, there is more a light woody base at the end, which is a bit similar to Voyage - típical JCE even.

Actually, I have he Concentrée version issued in 2011, and I have no idea whether the ingredients have been also modified or only the longevity is better than before.

aurorabucky

A bright juicy genuine grapefruit opening softened by faint floral top notes that are strong for around two hours before dramatically drying down to a more subdued orange/floral/wood. After about four hours, the effect is strictly next-to-skin.

One could see this initial burst and drydown as a problem, or you could do what I do: acquire this specifically as an office scent.

The citrus helps me stay fresh and alert in the morning, and the limited projection and short life of the more assertive scents help to keep the people in cubicles around me un-invaded by my olfactory tastes. Yet, even after several hours, a fresh set of vapors will make their way to my nose to give me a taste of the nice citrus/woods drydown.

I use one spray on the upper chest and a small spray on each wrist. Spraying on my neck results in excessive early projection followed by vanishing after an hour or two. This is a scent that may want to go on places that won't vaporize it in as much of a hurry as with other more durable scents.

By the time I get home, most traces are gone, and I can assume my evening scent (He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood).

mortderire

Grapefruit is my favourite citrus scent, so I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately, the top note of grapefruit comes and goes in about half the time it takes to eat an actual grapefruit. What's left after that could be replicated by rubbing a car freshener on your skin. I would recommend this for a quickie w/ a casual partner on a hot summer's eve, as long as you don't last more than ten minutes.

jasonchickerson

Pamplemousse Rose is conceived as a classic chypre. Citrus over woods.

Unfortunately, the grapefruit top note is so overwhelmingly chemical it glows like a neon sign. It really is a shame because the rose is used to great effect here, managing to be neither soapy nor powdery and the dry down is a rich and beautiful mossy woods. I might go so far as to call it intoxicating if not for that synthetic slap of grapefruit searing my nostrils.

Stick with its similar but much better, older brother Eau d'Orange Verte.

blaisepascal87

elegant and strong at the same time! now hermes have launched "concentrè de pamplemousse rose", that's an eau de toilette, but there isn't yet on this site

junglefun

A grapefruit burst that includes the seeds.....which I love, too bad that after 10 minutes all is gone. Great smell but hardly worth buying, better off to just go buy a blender and a bag of grapefruits.

Annelien1987

Love this one, fresh and clean. Great scent.

Zaya

it's perfect!

abirae

I love grapefruit and was really looking forward to this one. Pamplemousse Rose, Getaine Blanche and Voyage all have a sweaty salty musk drydown on my skin I find very unappealing. If I want to smell like sweat I'll go for a jog, I'd rather earn my sweat than pay to have Hermes replicate it.

Trululu

Perfect cologne! It opens with a bitter grapefruit, soft, but not sweet or sugary. And the rose in the middle note is wonderful, white, fresh morning rose with dew on it. Very nice fragance for summer.

Sissi

The opening starts with ripe and juicy
note of blood oranges & bitter grapefruit a few minutes later dries down to a note of Black Pepper. the note of Delicate rose hindes benneth
the more Dominering notes of Orange Grapefruit and Black Pepper.

This is an Perfect mood enhancer
next to Lavender perfect for depression
dreary rainy days and dark cold nights.

hermes pamplemousse rose and voyage are totally different!
pamplemousse rose opens with a very naturalistic, nicely bitter grapefruit note which is juicy, fresh but never sharp. I need another try to describe the dry down but I already know: I love this one, it's perfect for summer!

Try Eau de Pamplemousse Rose on your left hand, then try Voyage d'Hermès on your right one: Compare...C'mon Mr Ellena didn't really rack his brains! It's sort of the same fragrance!!OK, Both beautiful..but with that salary..Give us a new thing!

Grapefruit almost never works for me, but I received a sample in a swap and had to at least try it. What a pleasant surprise. A very fine rendition of Grapefruit minus the unfortunate cat-spray edge so many grapefruits get, with a simple, powdery rose. It's a deceptively plain fragrance, easily worn for day, but there's something about it that really would make the transfer to mink and diamonds. There's a classic elegance to this scent that is somehow camouflaged by the citrus rose summery aspects, but it is definitely a great fragrance. Those who fear grapefruit may test with safety. Somehow it's neither harsh, acidic or weird. It's just delicately pretty without being sticky, girly or dated.

it's really another typical and great JCE perfume. the very fresh grapefruit note immediately clean my mind. i want to deep and deep smell the lovely fragrance. I definitely want a big bottle!

I was totally thrilled and excited to see this in...duty free shop in the airport! I was expecting this rarely seen one to be very hard to find and ridiculously priced. it was not. the price was decent for a hard to find scent, even though it is little more expensive than regular perfumes.

availability and price aside, i immediately take the tester and sprayed it on my wrist. i got the most unique smell i have ever smelled! it's a hint of cirtus, fresh citruses mixed with a hint of flower and a pinch of spice. just a teeny weeny pinch of spice, but it makes all the difference! light and fresh, very Jean-Claude Ellena.

As time goes by, the citruses fades and leave me with lovely light green scent with the flower, rose. lovely!i do think this is the perfect scent to get ready to brave the summer sun!

Unfortunately this lovely scent doesnt last long enough on my dry skin... but, i will find someone who goes to that airport and ask s/he to get me Pamplemousse Rose :)

Masculine 21st century citrus and a dark, almost burnt rose scent. Very cool and seductive.

A very subtle and exquisite blend of grapefruit and rose. It's definitely a step ahead of Ellena's Eau Parfumee au the vert (PR is less sweet, less flowery, more unisex) and Un Jardin sur Nil (in PR the citrus note is less sharp and the composition is much better blended).
I've been long trying to find a citrus cologne that wouldn't make me sneezing because of extreme sharpness of this family, would have decent longevity, and would manage to stay true to the opening notes. This one fills the bill. My favourite cologne so far.

I have been looking forward to trying this, and had a chance to do so today. Grapefruit is one of my favourite citrus notes, and I was not disappointed in that respect. The top grapefruit note in Eau de Pamplemousse Rose is really good, natural, fresh and, for lack of a better word, sparkling. Definitely mood-uplifting. It doesn't last all that long, mind you. Or rather, it does not disappear but is joined by other citrus and loses its sparkle. I get orange, or perhaps mandarine with its mild sweetness. On a paper strip at least, these notes have a very decent longevity, and end up mixing with a strong rose note. The rose is a gorgeous full-bloom type, but then becomes spicier and greener. At this point, it gets difficult to identify individual notes. I imagine that's the effect of the rhubofix (woody/spicy/floral/fruity mix) which obviously I have never smelled. Whatever it is, green and, to a lesser extent, fruity notes add a touch of sharpness to the heart. I don't get any woody notes. After a few hours, the rose starts to subside, and lingers discretely on what seems to be a predominently green base. I like Eau de Pamplemousse Rose, but I would like it even more if the top grapefruit note lasted a bit longer. Still, it's a fun, uplifting eau de cologne with a difference...
