Aziyade by Parfum d'Empire is a Amber Spicy fragrance for women and men. Aziyade was launched in 2008. The nose behind this fragrance is Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. Top notes are Plum, Dates, Pomegranate, Orange and Almond; middle notes are Caraway, Cinnamon, Cardamom and Ginger; base notes are Incense, Tobacco, French labdanum, Vanilla, Patchouli and Musk.

Aziyade was presented in 2008 and named after the book known also as Constantinople by Pierre Loti, half-autobiographic novel based on a diary written by a French officer in Greece and Istanbul in autumn and winter 1876. The book tells a story of Loti's forbidden love for 18 year old Aziyade, a girl from harem, as well as about his friendship with Spanish servant Solomon.

Perfume Aziyade was created to interpret love, passion and erotics, as a perfume of pure extasy. It opens with pomegranate, crystalized date fruit, almond, orange and dry plum with spicy accords of cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, Egyptian cumin, incense, vanilla, Madagascar vanilla absolute, patchouli, musk and labdanum. The perfume is available as 50ml and 100ml edp. Perfumer is Marc-Antoine Corticchiato.

Retro coca cola, caraway, juicy spicy plum and a slight hairspray. Weird, cool, potent. Great for winter

KizzyMonclizzy

smells like a cherry cola to me then during dry down also gets smoky and sugary very niche smelling fragrance

ButterBelle

First spritz; Root beer, amaretto cherry, CUMIN. Then cinnamon and CUMIN.
The dry down; Like a Turkish delight rolled into a pile of cumin at a bazaar then smoked a cherry flavored hookah.
It is sensual, but too fun and avant garde to be considered dark or hedonistic. Cozy isn’t the word either, because the cardamom/ginger is giving a bit of soapy freshness. The cumin never feels dirty. It does a shimmery dace above the amber. A bold work of niche parfum art. Unisex in that I could happily wear this scent and would probably want to devour any man that smelled like this.

notfrannie

something about the caraway/cumin mix makes this read as straight up BO, I can’t really ever smell past it

Dollient

My favorite scent for a cold day, its nice and cozy and has amazing projection but isnt overpowering to yourself or the people around you. To me, the cardamom sticks out the most!

curieuse

Stinky fresh, if that makes sense. Initially I could smell fresh sweet oranges interchanging with strong cumin, which is a bit like unwashed body odor, then comes the cool cardamom, and then comes the warm cinnamon. Very wintery, Christmasy, scented candle and a steamy mug in my hands by the fireplace vibe. Interesting as an experience, although not sure if I want to smell like this as a person.

Pomegranate uzvar! And heap of cumin, which I personally enjoy. A lot of perfumes people describe as “christmassy” don’t register that way to me because I use spices and smell conifers year round. But the cooked dried fruits and pomegranates place this one squarely in the holidays and deep winter. The salty-musky cumin will be offputting to some but it’s a necessary counterpart to the sticky sweet fruits. Makes it feel human. I’m not sure I want a perfume that evokes the holidays so strongly but if I did this would be my first port of call.

Aziyadé is a creative take on a spicy-amber scent. Cumin - a divisive note - is featured prominently, and unusually for a scent of this profile, there is no rose - or indeed florals - at all. Its sweetness comes from its fruity notes initially, seamlessly leading the way to the balsamic amber base, with plenty of spices featuring prominently. It feels like an old-world spicebomb, but instead of being a 1980s time capsule, it is modern and more than a little edgy. The cumin is carnal and animalic, and certainly off-putting to some.

Aziyadé opens with a sweet fruity accord - the rich, honeyed sweetness of dried fruits rather than the synthetic opening of a floral-fruity. The cumin follows closely, spicy, musky and warm, but becoming skanky as it melds with my skin. It isn't unpleasant - it adds interest in the manner of oud or ambergris. It is the main spicy note, but is complemented by others. Cardamom initially adds a green, peppery edge.

The spice accord becomes slightly sweet as it progresses, and not simply due to cinnamon, the obvious culprit. I suspect caraway, perhaps enhanced by ginger. After a little while, hazy, heliotrope-like almond becomes evident, providing a nice backdrop for the spiced fruits. Cinnamon comes to the fore then, giving Aziyadé a slightly Christmassy vibe alongside the almond and dried fruits. However, it never descends into potpourri territory - it is a high-quality, avant-garde perfume through-and-through.

The amber base comes to the fore as it dries down, seamlessly heralded by the spices and honeyed fruitiness. It is balsamic and quite dry, with some vanilla adding soft sweetness. There is a dark chocolate quality to the drydown, perhaps enhanced by the patchouli. It dries down to a musky, sweet amber skin scent. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting.

Despite the balsamic sweetness here, this is a unisex scent - in my opinion, old-fashioned amber spicebombs are unisex by modern standards, but without having mass appeal. Another great perfume from an impressive house, Aziyadé is a bold autumn/winter evening perfume. To be worn with confidence by the right person. Sexy, spicy amber. 4/5.

You're not at work are you? Good.

Wow! During the opening I had some more forceful expletives, as in telling someone to perform a certain action on me, but wow!
What a cunning scent. It really draws you in. Deeper. Deeper still.

As the perfume breathes from paper, it feels 'more female' but it is certainly inviting you to let go of your doctrine and preconceptions and just do whatever feels natural. It expresses the need to touch your skin and you'll probably consent.

On skin, cumin comes out to play in an ensemble suggesting things like earthy, flowery, fruity, something more ethereal as well, eucalyptus? I'm having trouble finding all the notes. I could use more experience. And so it goes up and down between the notes while the cumin holds it gently in its grasp.
I could go on...

This perfume is a work of art.

A very pleasurable experience. I suggest to wear some on clothes as well, so it can catch a breath while it goes to town.

TobaccoSense

On my skin this starts of tart and sweet. It's perhaps a bit spicy but primarily sweet. The smell reminds me of Rockets candies (I wish I was joking). The longevity is abysmal. Leans feminine all day. I thought the base notes would make this more tolerable, but that sweetness sticks around more or less the whole life (2hrs Max) of the scent.

After reading alphairone’s titillating, smoldering review I think I too need a cigarette! I want whatever you’re having so I just bought a sample today. Thanks for review and I’ll be waiting breathlessly on the bear skin rug for your return from the woods. Just don’t tell my husband.

christophersisk

Rich! And I don't mean wealthy. I mean this is a perfume that feels more rich than it does sweet. An absolutely gorgeous and complex array of notes that dance a sensual, carnal, and ritualistic rumba around each other from opening to dry down. This could easily be called a feminine-leaning perfume, but I wouldn't blame any guy in the world, myself included, for wanting to smell like this all day long. Rich, warm, sensual, cozy, and 100% sexy.

RiddlesKitty

Absolutely love the opening. The drydown, however, has a metallic blood-like quality I do not enjoy. It's well-blended and no particular note stands out. It's spicy, fruity, woody, a bit cold smoky.

Silverquick

Hot damn this is delicious. Cumin notes don’t bother me and work great on my skin. Here I definitely get caraway (a sharper type of cumin scent with less bass) and a hit of ambrette which gives an almost powdered heliotrope note.

However initially it’s a fast moving slide show of stunning fruit notes that I try and catch but they develope too fast. For me it’s mouth-wateringly good and heated by a stunning cinnamon note that flames to life on spray and then backs up the caraway and ambrette.

This scent feels red, a clear transparent candy red

Such a transparent yet dense feeling scent it’s in the style I love. Elegant yet unusual and robust. Projects and lasts well moving deeper into resiny, chewy ambery territory whilst never getting sickly and remaining spicy and interesting. ❤️

frankcrummit

It was a mistake, I think, to sample this on a Monday morning.

The perfumer's description is suitably seductive: who wouldn't want to spice up the start off their working week with "love, passion and erotics"? But the gourmand element of the fragrance actually gets in the way of the storytelling. You would think that a touch of Eastern promise would stimulate the senses, but in the event, the mix of fruits, spices and other market smells overwhelms them instead.

I couldn't wear this in a month of Mondays. For me this fragrance is too feminine, too fruity, too relentlessly exotic. It's like one of those decadent Middle Eastern confections stacked high in with fruits, nuts and cream : sweet, syrupy, many-layered, indulgent ... and totally indigestible.

A pass for me I'm afraid.

alphairone

Aziyade opens with an accord that somehow reminds me of opening a jar of Luxardo maraschino cherries (not Great Value), luscious syrup, darker hue, but this soon sheers out to reveal more of a pomegranate aril tartness and amber-colored Halawi date sweetness. This is underlined by a pomander orange, how festive! Wearing this today at first makes me feel melancholy for the end of the holiday season, until a "glory be" skank escapes like a genie from a bottle.

An umbellifer assortment, bready, herbaceous caraway and the sweat of cumin seeds, stirred into an Italian plum compote. The whole effect does remind my nose of having a refreshing, effervescent cola instead of a cigarette after some heavy petting in bed. It makes my mouth water and my pulse elevate, it is a wild ride (read into that as you will).

Mulling spices surface further in, and it looks like we do, on the contrary, crave some tobacco after the amorous congress, and a fine cigar is what tickles the skin and the nose in Aziyade's dry down. The soundtrack is Mtume's "Juicy Fruit" and the "heat of the moment" phantom is what remains. A sexy, sexy number.

Oras

Pros:
✅ One of my first loves, it remains unbeatable in terms of a fruity-smoky-animal effect achieved without florals and oud. Plus a cola vibe! "Oriental" sans rose, oud, pepper and florals - no florals at all! Persistent on clothes.
Cons:
❎ Extremely "transparent" scent, lazy projection; may evoke pharmacy and animal piss (personally, I don't get it).

NellieD

I just adore Parfums d'Empire. I never know what to expect from them, except that it won't be boring! To me, Aziyade smells like Cherry Coke and BO. It's bizarre and fascinating and I can't stop smelling it. Truly artisan perfumery. ❤️

KarinaSo

Gorgeous, like luxurious ancient royal palace somewhere in the east. Mysterious, spicy, fresh, sweet, natural.. love love love

Atabey_H

I smell too much cumin in it. It's a pass for me.

Arber Cami

This smells like a Middle Eastern cloyingly sweet desert. Opens up really sweet, dries down to a fruity sweet and spicy scent, all ingredients are not well blend together, there is no cohesion. Smells like an old lady perfume, I dont like it. Too sweet, cloying and oldschool.

Perfumatrix

If you like Aziyade (I adore it) but are looking for something a bit less 'spicy souk" or a bit less "Christmas-y" (read: a bit less of the Arabie-by-Serge-Lutens vibe) and every bit as sexy, try Femme by Rochas (the new, cumin-heavy formulation, NOT vintage Femme, which has less cumin and more leather). The current Femme EDP is a bit heavy for hot times of the year, but you can rock the EDT on summer nights for a sexy-dialed-up-to-11 date-night scent. That is, if your nose is used to niche and vintage fragrances, if you are comfortable with overt sensuality, or if you would like to be. Cheers, Friends.

BeardedIris

The opening is recognisably 80s. The dense, sweet, cinnamon-and-berries accord reminds me of Dior Poison, minus the white flowers, though I've not smelled that in years so it's a loose association. UK readers familiar with blackcurrant Chewits will recognise it.

Up top is a maraschino cherry tang, miraculously composed from pomegranate, date and prune. There's a trace of bitter almond (cyanide! Poison again), a lot of cinnamon, cardamon too and musky cumin. All smoothed through with camphorous patchouli, labdanum, musk, raw chocolate (not listed) and vanilla in the base. A little incense added for smokiness.

There's so much going on that it absolutely has to be tried on skin, which is where so many of those notes come into their own: cumin, labdanum, musk, carob, smoke really fusing this with the warm scent of skin, and the perfume settling to a soft, sweet, fruity cloud. Delicious and seductive. Absolutely not the kind of thing I can pull off but highly recommended

derby2169

Opens up with a additive sweet fruity yet off the bat spicy opening, an extra zingy cherry cola, but with a thicker date/agave syrup feel. Just as you are about to drown in the sticky opening note you are blasted by a punch of heavy spice, cinnamon, perhaps dry curry leaves or ground cumin, which smell undeniably provocative and pungent, not disgusting by any means, like going from freshly showered to breaking a light sweat.
The spice has a way of blooming and slowly cutting through the sweet fruit, it starts like a mild tickle and then starts making itself known, like it's slowly being dialed in.
Very potent 2 sprays max would be the optimal amount, but it sticks close to the skin (projection is modest, but more than that would be excessive.)

As the name implies 'an 18-year-old Circassian harem girl named Aziyadé' this is the pinnacle of fragrance as an aphrodisiac. It oozes an intoxicating distinctly feminine sensuality, not in a cute girly way, rather a confident striking womanly type of allure.

Edit: 10/2022 Having sampled a lot of Lutens recents, I realize this is indeed an expansion of the same idea as Feminite du Bois. However Aziyade feels higher quality, more intense, dark and mouthwatering, also less powdery overall.

JimmyTwoTimes

The Pomegranate note gives it that stunning cola vibe and takes this fragrance to the next level. Pomegranates are one of the paradise fruits mentioned in the Holy Quran.

cranky137

Another batch of cumin-plums odours from sweaty balls. No thank you!

ingeneuxo

-This is an avant-garde scent.
-Ranks as highly on my list of 'weird scents' as those from the house of Zoologist.
-The cumin note is outright offensive.
-Aziyade is (triple concentration) berry-flavoured vitamin water in a perfume bottle. (-)

GlacialImpala

Ever wondered about Cola-flavored jam? This is it. Yummy yet substantial

Never2Late

I've just finished baking a batch of gingerbread cookies and heated up some mulled wine, the tree is sparkling with decorations in a candle lit room, an ember of lilac wood in the fireplace is spreading a delicate incense, there's snow flurries outside in the dark night, and with the window slightly open, someone walks by smoking a fine cigar. Hyacinth bulbs are blooming on the windowsill.
With all that going on, you sure can't wear anything wimpy. After Shalimar, Aziyade is my go-to winter holiday perfume.

LaContessina

Warm, round, sexy. Mouthwatering.
A modern oriental gourmand, with a boozy start. I get a wave of sugary and very aromatic liquor (Armagnac, Grand Marnier).
Here we have dried fuits, plums, raisins, cardamom and cumin, black tea, dates, oranges, berries and cinnamon (this give me that apfel strudel note that I like so much). The drydown is an excellent frankincense-vanilla-musk base.
Next of kin to Ambré Narguilé (but Aziyadé is a tad fresher) and Sushi Imperiale, they're all in the same family.
It is a very round spicy gourmand but not in the typical chocolate-caramel manner we are used to.
Excellent.

A big man with stinky armpits, on a stinky horse that has just pooped, is showering in coca-cola on a hot, sunny day, and then spraying himself with some vintage perfume. Not the best combination, but you forgive him because he is handsome.

Ouch!

This feels and behaves like a super indie perfume oil. It doesn't feel like an EDT or EDP. It has an oily smell which is very fruity, smooth, a bit powdery and a touch dark. Mainly you can smell a raisin/date type smell with gentle soft woods. The note list is fantastic on paper but it's case of, many things are listed but you can only smell a few. Either that or it's very well blended, it feels seamless in the way it smells. Nothing to shout about, I have smelled better from the brand. If you are a fan of Black Phoenix Alchemy lab, this has that kind of feel to it.

LinePlaneVolume

Starts as a simultaneously beguiling and offensive melange of dried fruit and body odor that slowly vibrates into a proto-Incense Oud (Nicolai).

I can't take my nose away.

tessture

Okay, so the cumin takes over all. This is orange blossom cologne over BO. It’s 99% sweat. Not hugely offensive, but it’s clearly unwashed armpits. Overall, I never want to smell like this. It could go skanky or stay simply unclean, but I’m not sticking around to find out. After scrubbing like mad, it’s cumin and cinnamon with a warm vanilla vibe, but as a very faint skin scent. I should've stayed away because cumin can go so wrong on me!

Very soft and blended, clearly spicy. The other notes are present at lower volume, and overall not very strong. It's nice but in a sense, not all that niche-like. This is what top designers would be like if they paid more attention to the scent itself, rather than the marketing, bottle design, etc. (perhaps it's best thought of as a unisex version of Spicebomb by V&R). Compared to Arabie, this is much smoother and has better balance among the notes. The spice presentation is also not especially similar, but it is a "general ballpark" situation.

atarilynx

Smells a bit like Fruit Stripe gum made into a dessert. It's fruity and slightly spicy, yet warm. I really hate using this word, but it qualifies as "delicious".

It seems to be discontinued, and while I enjoy it, I'd never put it on my body. Perhaps on a significant other it would be another story.

IndigoEye

Not a subtle scent! A very cola fizzy opening, lots of dates and Morroccan spices but it is rather distracting and smells more like a room scent than something I would want on my person. This makes Kenzo Elephant feel like thr height of Parisian refinement.
It is fun, fruity and spicy, and it had a joyful 'in for a penny...' feel to the composition. I recommend this to brave souls in search of a trip to North Africa.

andrew1983

Imagine to be in a moroccan souk, plenty full of spicy-warm fragrances and smells, full of various beautiful vintage colours... it's a rainbow of scents, emotional, masculine and animalic at the beginning, but clear and clean in the base notes. Surely another masterpiece!

felipebizarria.1

The opening is not easy...A very strong citrus-cummin accord! In 5 minutes things change and what I smell is a beautiful panettone scent on my skin. Different. I've never read the novel, maybe it's time to do it.

leannaeliset

Where to begin with this complicated fragrance?

I feel delight and disgust and addiction all at once. The loud and juicy fizzy opening of Coca Cola just consumes me. I love it more than I can put into words. Bright, dazzling, quenching and sparkly. It's nostalgic--like the Coca Cola gummy candies I used to eat as a kid.

The cumin and incense that follow take this olfactory trip away from candy store, to a busy Indian spice market. I mean this in the most classic, literal sense--I am walking through a spice market and my nose is overwhelmed and stuffed with that caraway/cumin/cardamom/curry powder combination. It is crowded and hot and the air in the market is thick with spice and sweat and holy smoke from sticks of incense. This is masterfully composed, but not my favourite part of the fragrance. I don't feel 100% comfortable wearing a sweaty cumin on my skin in public, but it is riveting to witness its development on my wrist. It's dirty and stuffy and in need of a shower, but in a way that is so lifelike I can't look away.

Then there's the dry down. Ohhhhhhh. I cannot stop huffing my wrist. Once all the smoky curry smells have lifted, I'm left with this sinfully sweet cinnamon overload. Sweet as if someone had rubbed honey on my skin and let it dry. There is certainly a naughtiness to it. I get that. Strangely enough though, I also smell a similarity to a freshly licked cat (LOL). Like after my cat has brushed her own fur with her tongue. I don't know that it would be everyone's cup of tea, and it's not overpowering- just definitely an animalic and very biological smell.

Wow. I'm not sure I'd wear this in an obvious way on a daily basis. But certainly like a little naughty secret hidden on my wrist. The way it changes throughout the day....it's fascinating. Tells so many stories. It's one of those "How gross, I just can't believe it smells like that" and yet you continue smelling. Like being disgusted and aroused all at once.

This is a masterpiece.

Beth

Good grief, this stuff is...carnal. Other reviews are not far off. The plum/cumin/incense/cardamom combo is wicked. It is thick and provocative without being overwhelming and heavy. I don’t know how the perfumer did it! I have a generous decant, but I can see this one getting a fair amount of use in fall and winter. At this point, I do view it as FBW. Sillage is decent; longevity is good. If you’re looking for something different and sensual, I’d say “look no further.”

trabuquera

Elaborate, contradictory, intriguing, baffling, bewitching stuff. So eclectic in the notes it's hitting, all over the smellscape, that my brain fizzes trying to process it all. Is it warm? citrusy? woody? fresh? clean? dirty? sexy? indoor? outdoor? masculine? feminine? All of the above and more. Need to give it more time - I'm worried that its complexity might not survive on my skin - but I'm afraid this one might turn out to have conquered me completely. Riddle inside a mystery inside an enigma. WANT.

toshiba

9:15 - Opens with orange and BO. I'm lucky and don't usually get that funk from cumin, so that was surprising. Strangely, not bad. Somehow minty.

The more I smell this, the more I'm into it. Doing that whole huffing my wrist thing.

It's like if my natural underarm aroma was "Dr. Pepper" and orange peel.

11:15 - Dry down isn't my favorite, too sweet. Souring just a bit on my skin. Def not a vanilla I could enjoy.

1:30 - Reapplying to use up the sample. It isn't bad, just not me. Can't deal with the end bits.

gorgemand

Strikingly sensual - I mean - HEAVY, heady, and frankly arousing. I get lost in Aziyade. It's not work appropriate at all but I don't care - it feels a little naughty to have a little on my wrist and feel stolen away from the dreary dullness of the office into somewhere soft and humid, just thick with sex. Sorry! I'm a bad girl! But I like it most on dates, if I'm feeling right or need to. Aziyade is generous, a total hedonist, completely assuming - feels like a smack in the face with how full-bodied it is, yet lasts hours. Soft and yet hard - and a little dark, a little illicit. I feel incredibly sexy when I wear this. It's not for everyone (Tom Ford Plum Japonais feels similar, perhaps more accessible - and with a resinous oud drydown). But if you fall in love with it like I did, it's the stuff of dreams. Totally transformative. Evocative to the extreme. Ripe and rich and juicy and oh so spicy. Just LOADED. So much so that it makes me feel abundant myself, overflowing, as if I could give all of myself, entirely, to another... of course, that feeling is what some of the best sex begins with. True story: On my boyfriend and I's first date ever, we made out a little inappropriately at a cocktail lounge after he sniffed my wrist. What was I wearing? Obviously Aziyade.

shiva-woman

Oh my goodness—happiness!!! I have pretty much all the Serge Lutens, and Arabie gets hit about once a year or two, because it is so....strong, spicy just wow! It can also go a bit sickly sweet on me. This is like...Arabie but better (oh I can’t believe I said that). It’s strong on the plum and citrus, lifts up in a light lovely way with cardamom (which I ADORE!) along with light, tart ginger and pomegranate, is infused with sweet dates (doesn’t smell like cola to me—yay), and the whole is a swirl of incense (labdanum). This is the Marrakech to me!
My sizeable decant will go FB shortly. LOVE this.
Definitely try before you buy; it’s closest cousin, just similar DNA to me is SL Arabie, and if that one is a miss for you, this may be too, though I think this one is smoother and more balanced (I still love you Serge!).
Silage and Longevity are excellent! I’m in a cloud of delight for hours. I hope everyone around me is too. This may not be office appropriate but is sexy and sophisticated! I’m off to revel in my décolletage and nibble on my wrists...

kumicov

Aziyade is modern and romantic scent. When I wore it, I remembered Femme Rochas original(I love it). Because both scents are included fruity Plum and bitter Cinnamon. Caraway as the main material is very spicy, and tightening the sweetness of Plum and Dates. This mixing is really dramatic, but amazingly, it's so fresh. After dry-down, acrid thing gone from my skin and I felt a sweet oriental.
This fine perfume might gain the habit to me.

cinamonas

It kicks off with a "fizzy" start, bringing you that soar, yet sweet coca-cola scent. Within minutes, the fizziness goes away and the perfume radiates the scent of plum and orange, wrapped up in tobacco sexiness.
This is a truly seductive, masculine, femme-fatale, sex-in-the-bottle kind of juice.
In my mind, it compliments the night-time the best. It is hard to tell whether I will be reaching out for Aziyade on autumn or spring, since it is a demi-seasonal blend to me. Aziyade is more of a 'going out' perfume.
I see myself wearing Aziyade with a red lip, all-black outfit and laces underneath.

• I've got an Arabie and a sample of Aziyade.
• Spices makes them close in a drydown, but Arabie has very peppery spicy opening, wile Aziyade is sweeter and opens even like a juicy chewinggum :-)

Fragrantica Members please help! I am trying to decide on which Parfums d'Empire fragrance to purchase next. I own three already; two I love (Amber Russe and Wazamba) and one I have a hard time wearing (Yuzu Fou). I am debating between Aziyade, Fougere Bengal, and Musc Tonkin. My favorite scent of all time is Chaos by Donna Karan, so naturally I am drawn to Aziyade, but I am not sure about the cumin note. I hate cumin if it smells like body odor like in Eau d'Hermes.
I also like lavender, barbershop scents so I think I might like Fougere Bengal, but I don't like Immortelle if it is done too strong and sweet smelling. Some members compare it to Etat Libre D'Orange The Afternoon of a Faun, which smells horrible to me.
Maybe I should just go with Musk Tonkin. It sounds intriguing.
Which is your favorite and why?

marenanne6

When I put this on I feel like I just survived a night in the woods alone with only a campfire to keep me company. I can only the smell warm spices, and not any of the dates or plum, so for me this fragrance has a tough-as-nails quality to it.

-----------------------------------------

About 80% of whole notes is caraway and 18% is plum. Plum is a little sour and saturated. It can say that caraway is the base of perfume and plum and cardamom completed it.
This perfume isn't bitter at all and is a little sweet. The sweetness is mostly for caraway in comparison with cinnamon.
This perfume can be special in Europe, but it isn't so special in Middle east, because the people of these regions are used this spice in their usual usage.

Silage is under moderate and longevity is moderate.

ouroboros88

Very first impression: a fat holiday spice candle that you've just blown out. The cumin doesn't come through as sweat or sex to me, but as waxy smoke. Plums are there in the background. Some woods, too, that smell like pencil shavings. It has a powerful throw. Not sure about longevity. I have sampled a few from this house and own a fb of Tabac Tabou, and I had high hopes for this, but my nose hasn't gotten a taste for cumin yet, alas.

a-holy-terror

First impression: man's sweat, sex, lots and lots of spices, jungle at night, bubble gum, coca cola. Al Oudh with sticky and juicy fruits. I thought that Al Oudh is the sexiest scent there is, but now it seems that I was wrong. This is love at first sniff!

sleepy*weasel

Lovely, the nearest I can describe it is: Kenzo Jungle with soft plums. Strong, lasting, spicy. Try before you buy! As it's more than a fruity, and more than an oriental. What a find. I love it x

I love love love this one! Fresh, juicy and spicy. I don't see it as a winter scent, I'm wearing it at the beginning of summer and I find it very refreshing. I have no problem with cumin (it's milk that smells like baby poo on me...) so I guess that's the polarizing note. The coca-cola effect reminds me of a very different fragrance I also love, Serge Noire by Serge Lutens.
Anyways, for me Aziyade is a sexy fragrance for a cool summer night out, and I'm strongly tempted to buy a full bottle even though my collection has already passed the planned total :-p

shushkin

WOW! this juice is gorgeous. My first thought was Tom Fords Plum Japonais. Its a pretty good dupe that possibly has a touch less plum. All deep spicey plummy deliciousness. The first notes to assail your nose have to be the cardomom, ginger, cinnamon, dates and plums. Its very intense spices with fruity sweetness. Over time you get some orange and other fruits. It makes me think of Christmas.
Moderate sillage and excellent longevity. A perfect unisex fragrance.

zenazur

Cumin and cardamom are pungent here! If you can handle the loud opening, Aziyadé will take you on a trip to the mysterious markets of North Africa. The air is rife with the cries of snake charmers, folk singers, and spice sellers buzzing through the streets. You are bound to get lost, but that's part of the fun. Not a safe perfume. Thick and addictive.

smellslikedimond

A most interesting fragrance. I find it quite unique. I don't get any similarities in feelings to Frapin 1270 nor Feminite De Bois - both on my fave top shelf. They are much sweeter. I get a burst of pomegranate citrus freshness and then the cumin/caraway notes barge in and go to war immediately and in your face. I didn't pick up cardamom nor plum - two of my fave notes since the other spices drown it out for me . At least initially that's my take. I will update if that changes.
There is a woodsy smoky quality blanketing all this that I think I find intriguing (it reminds me of camping)- but its alas too far out of my comfort zone and more of a oddity rather then a fume I would wear.
I laugh at the taco seasoning reference below. I can see that for sure and the bubblegum feelings (I think that's actually the caraway? but who knows)

woodlandwalk

Aziyade opens with a fruity bubblegum scent with noticeable sweaty cumin. (I think the bubblegum note is pomegranate as others here have pointed out, which doesn't smell like this in real life, but does in fruit drinks where I think grape or something is added).

The cedar/spicy part is reminiscent of Serge Luten's Feminite du Bois but this bubblegum note is pretty strong till after 20 minutes, at which point this smells even more like FdB. So I've decided to try on FDB to compare.

FdB is more cedar woody with less spice, also quieter and less animalic - like Claret or Shiraz wine compared to Aziyade's new-world ripe fruitiness. I like FdB's dark damson plum more.

Aziyade's spicy cumin is very naughty and noticable, sharpened slightly with cardomom, but I already find Feminite du Bois' sweaty spicy/cedar/plum sensual and don't feel I need to go any farther along that route, a bit boring of me maybe! Basically I find this a bit too earthy, possibly even reminiscent of nether regions,

I do love cumin though, in cooking and in perfume, but I prefer the way it's handled in the Hermes classic Eau d'Hermes where it's sweatiness is paired with sunny lemon and a hint of leather, which makes it less 'smutty'!

I like Aziyade, because I like fruity spicy/woody perfumes, but FdB is still my favourite, personally. So Aziyade is well worth trying if you like fruity/woody/spicy/animalic perfumes (though it really is very similar to FdB so maybe don't bother if you have that already)

Sillage moderate, longevity maybe better than FdB but the dry down is more earthy and obvious

nitschevo

relative_perfection send me a sample of this (thank you again!) and I just dapped a little drop on the back of my hand.To me this smells like spice markets and Christmas. Will report back as soon as I know more about dry down etc. but so far I like! Unique smell that's probably perfect for fall and winter :)

freakypirate

The opening is truly magical-- fresh fruits, dried fruits, sweet dates, pomegranate, ginger. All very gourmand notes. Then the spices turn up the volume. More ginger, caraway, cinnamon. The final blast is cumin, on a warm, smooth, smoky base.

Performance is good: sillage is moderate to heavy, longevity is long (about 6-7 hours).

The cumin, unfortunately, doesn't work on me. It makes me smell like I had a good curry dish the day before, and haven't had a shower yet. I can understand how this may be attractive to some (I love Musc Tonkin by the same house, speaking of BO), but this is not a very pleasant fragrance to me. It just makes me feel dirty-- not sexy dirty, but in desperate need of an armpit wash!

However, this is a masterpiece perfume, very complex and daring. Give it a try and see if it works for you. I wish it worked for me!

Hoxx

What a beauty this one can be if it matches your skin chemistry! I tried it plenty of times and I got mixed results from it.

This is an oriental dream. Dried fruits - and a lot of them, heavy spices, vanilla and woods and musks in the drydown. The one thing that differs heavily depending on when I try it is an amount of caraway/cumin I get. Sometimes I can feel it in a regular amount and then it's in harmony with cinnamon and cardamom, making a great 'coating' for the dry sweet plums and dates of the opening. Sometimes, though, it gets overwhelming and its sweaty quality makes its presence known by smothering everything below. What you get depends on the season and weather, but mostly on your skin chemistry.

Like every PdE, Aziyade has great longevity, sillage, projection. It is unique, opulent and heavy. However, this is the one creation of Corticchiato I find so polarizing - none of his scents are safe by definition, but this one is the most unpredictable and as heavy on spices as anything I've tried. Like some fellow reviewers said, this is a definition of niche perfumery and, for me, a work of art, even if it gets out of control sometimes.

Its a house , with walls made of a vanilla, tobaco & almonds. Inside this house theres a big christmas-baking going on. Comforting, relaxing.

Lana148

The first time I smelled Aziyade, it took my breath away. I literally had a "moment", some "brain ecstasy". It felt like the most beautiful thing I've ever smelled and it satisfied all of my senses.

This seldomly happens to me. I was so exited and ready to dump all of my fragrances just for this one:)

Anyway, after a little while the fragrance took a big turnaround on me and all I was left with: a very smelly armpit on my whist. I wasn't ready for such a let down. I am not afraid of cumin and skanky fragrances, but this was way too much!

So, I am sad, but still not giving up, maybe one day my chemistry will change and work a little better with an amazing Aziyade.

Anaïs Nin

Dangerously intoxicating. I wore this for 2 days straight, I literally poured the sample vial on me. It was probably offensive for others around me but I was so excited to try this out. The opening is sweet, spicy, sticky honey plum and dates. As the liquid dries I sense the pomegranate, it gives the scent a little tang, giving it bite. The dry down is incense.
I adore the cumin here, don't let it put you off of trying this scent out. The cumin here reminds me of the soft body odor of a lover coming back home to me after a long tough day at work. The use of the cumin lends to the sensuality of this scent.
It is a love it or hate it scent, so test it before you buy. Lovers of orientals will probably love this.
This is a heavy, heavy scent, the sillage is so good and the longevity was about 8 hours! This belongs in my collection!

2746cstreet

Does anyone else feel like this smells like a Yankee Candle store during the Christmas shopping season?
I don't hate it, but it smells more like a scented candle than a perfume.
I think I am just not a fan of these syrupy-fruit + potpourri spice blends.
This is very reminiscent of several Lutens scents I have tried.
Bubblegummy pomegranate, orange, very sweet spices, sugary dates. I don't really get incense, musk, patchouli or anything to put the sweetness in check.

emily7

Hot and spicy, sharp to almost pungent and sexy, sexy, sexy.
On my skin it's mainly - cumin, cinnamon, plum, dates - placing it clearly into the genre of fragraces like Femme Rochas (reformulated version), Shiseido Feminite du Bois, SL Arabie and even Amouage Jubilation, except this is a rougher (raw even) unisex variant.
If you enjoy such notes, you will surely find Aziyade smelling interesting and provocative - like some exotic, carnal, oriental fairy tale.
But, if not into intoxicating spices and fruits, robust, loud fragrances in general and - most importantly - the biggest fan of cumin - this will be impossible to wear (big sillage, great longevity, too).

Drydown is a bit flat, though.

AveParfum

So intriguing. In the beginning I mostly smell strong fresh ginger root with a heavy hand of cumin. I love the blend of spices. Later on, I smell tobacco and perhaps some dried dates. This perfume makes me think of faraway places...distant lands. Oddly enough, it doesn't make me think of a particular country or region. What comes to mind is an ancient fictional place, like on the show Game of Thrones.

When I first applied it, it smelled like cola. This is how fresh ginger root smells on me (when used in perfumery. Of course I don't wear the actual root). I thought about where I had smelled this before, and I remembered Arunima by Strange Invisible perfumes. These two perfumes share similar notes. I like Aziyade better though, more complex and lasting on the skin--probably due to the fact that this perfume contains synthetics, whereas Arunima is 100% natural.

Hours into wearing it, I smell a lot of vanilla and hot cinnamon. The beautiful thing about this perfume is that the drydown does not become boring, like completely vanilla and cinnamon. It retains its beautiful complexity the entire time. This house has really impressed me with what I have sampled thus far.

kiviivi

Wo ho this seriously EPIC and it smells like... horny girl, this is just epic blend of plum cumin dates and oranges, dean i wish they made it in mans version

This Baby is serious Elixir of sensual Attraction

alberto1964

I'm an animal and I wear this perfume! A lusty explosion of sensuality, heady spices, waterfalls of cumin, cinnamon and fruity notes: sex is now!
A masterpiece.

this perfume is Inspired by the Bengal part of the Ancient Mongol Empire, as the perfumer said worm and animalic, i personally see it from the first spray top note as a smell of someone who is sweating from gym or any hard activity and sprayed some fruitti perfume on without having a bath specially when it dries, the fruit goes out and the sweat remains still but lighter.
and later, the base note, it smells like armpit.
not my type of perfumes.

Edit (27th Nov 2016) after 2+ Years i now just realized that i was completely wrong about what i said previously and i take everything i said back. This fragrance is just AMAZINGLY captivating and SUPERBLY alluring! it has that fruity sweat with a slight animalic that turns up the heat, it is quite sexual in my opinion and difficultly adoptive. Use with caution, it is amazing for cold weather. One of the best fragrances i have sniffed so far.

rschmidt65

This is one of those perfumes that smells completely different up close than at a distance. Catching wafts of the trail, it smells like all the sweet fruit - dates, plums and a touch of smoky incense. It's very beautiful and maybe a bit reminiscent of the drydown of Mitsouko. Coming in for a sniff though is an entirely different matter. Then it's all about the spices of which cumin is the predominant one. The next morning the spices are gone and the fruits have settled into a gorgeous skin scent. This is my favourite part of Aziyade and I can't help constant wrist sniffing. If this were all there was to it, I would buy a bottle without hesitation but catching whiffs, wanting more and sniffing only to get a bunch of cumin doesn't work for me. Too bad!

hadassa

This is definitely one of the most impressive perfumes I have tried. It's a heavy and glorious spicy oriental par excellence.

Complex and multifaceted, it's like a hologram, showing all its exquisite and expensive smelling components throughout the time it lasts on the skin, which is 6 to 10 hours.

I was looking for a plum perfume, but AZIYADE is so much more than that. Do you see the composition pyramid of it? It's spot on. All these notes are there, and your nose will get them all. The only thing I don't sense here is almonds, but I might be anosmic to it.

The overall impression from AZIYADE is that its style calls up the orientals of Serge Lutens. Basically I just find these two houses very similar in their approach to perfumery. Anyway, AZIYADE to me is a better take on this genre. Whereas both ARABIE and FEMENITE DU BOIS (that I feel in AZIYADE from time to time) smell repulsive on my skin (ARABIE like a cheap and untidy restaurant, FdB like cats' litter), AZIYADE just blooms with all its opulence on me.

I'm not saying that it's a tribute to SL's bestsellers, not at all. It just has a similar spirit. If you have ever smelled Arabie, Femenite du Bois, and Rousse, you might get a couple of already experienced whiffs from AZIYADE. But, to me, it is far more elaborated and deep, and complete.

The animalic note here is quite strong, reminds me a bit of a smoother Musc Koublai Khan, - musky and dirty, but not repelling. MKK is a big sweaty and hairy man, and AZIYADE is just a bad girl who has advisedly chosen not to shower before a date with her lover... There is a famous anecdote about Napoleon and his Josephine. This musky note is about that I think.

Well, anyways I don't find it wearable for me personally, as it is a very "dressy", serious and classic perfume. It does not resonate with my inner self, but I still appreciate the high level of this work. It's a masterpiece. Try it. Even if you won't wear it, for your nose that will be a great olfactory lesson.

angel6

the cumin note is too much for me , again I find this is more suitable for a guy. I would not buy it.

blaiseantoine

very precious perfume in the parfum d'empire collection ,this is a warm spicy and fruity concoction to bite sniff after sniff ,it really impressed me a lot and asap i'll go for a full bottle

Incredibly warm and sexual. We french use an expression to tell someone we want him (or her) : "j'ai envie de te croquer"...
This fragrance is really oriental, gourmand and addictive.
Hot. Masterpiece.

Ziggy2012

I was nervous about trying this because of the cumin note and how it might work on my skin. This is a fascinating and exotic fragrance which I really like.

The opening is a blast of oriental spices, mainly cinnamon, cardamon, some ginger and a subtle fruity sweetness. Unusually for me, in a fragrance with so many components I can still actually pick up on almost all of them within the accord. The cumin is there but in the background and is not unpleasant. At that stage it just adds depth and character.

The drydown seems to me just a toned down version of the opening with the cumin note in the background more noticable, but not in a bad way. Animalic sounds too strong a word to describe it, it's 'human'.

Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has achieved something remarkable. What is fascinating is that each time you sniff it on skin over the next few hours, even from one minute to the next, one or other of the notes seems slightly more noticable, and so it is always subtly changing.

Imagine being on holiday in the East and having spent some time in the heat walking, or perhaps at the beach. You walk to the bazaar where in the cool of some shade, you sit at a table outside and sip some cardamon flavoured chai and near you there are stalls selling various spices and fruit. There are people walking past and what you see is interesting and pleasing. You keep noticing a very attractive stranger.

It has good projection and reasonable longevity. It seems unisex to me, but is probably not a scent for work or formal.

The fragrance is exotic, oriental, somehow sensual and evocative. Always subtly changing. Definitely worth trying if only to appreciate how a perfumer can create a very complex accord that subtly changes all the time, but still retains its structure and conjures up the East

full_of_colours

Aziyade is very well done but the strong association I get with fruit chutney prevents be from seeing it as something I can wear on my skin. A savoury gourmand!

Arrogant_Cat

Aziyade is one of my favourite spicy perfumes.
I like my orientals sweet, rich and spicy and Aziyade definitely delivers.

I find this fragrance to be exotic and slightly elusive but if I was to describe I would say it smells like plum jam spiced up with some delicious Middle-Eastern goodies such as cumin, cinnamon and with candied orange peel thrown on top. Gourmandish and very complex.

I don`t think it`s a crowdpleaser though - cumin and heavy spices can be very polarizing so I mostly wear my Aziyade when I`m at home or applied with a light hand just to make sure no one around me will choke on it.

Sillage is geat and so is longevity. I think it`s a must try for oriental lovers.
Price is not cheap but compared to some niche lines it`s quite down-to-earth.

Also I don`t detect any similarities between Aziyade and Serge Lutens` Arabie. They are both spicy but while I dislike Arabie because to me it smells like Indian curry, Aziyade is a fascinating oriental beauty and a delight to my senses.

Bbjr

This is a thermonuclear cumin bomb! I also get a bit of a celery smell and that somewhat ruins it. This stuff is very strong and I don't recommend it as a scent to attract the female persuasion. Might do nothing but scare the living sh#* out of them. The BO scent is there but the cinnamon does seem to make it a bit more spicy. Not sure yet about this one.

Roge

Aziyade aka post-sexual intercourse scent.

- It's impossible to take one's opinion regarding this fragrance(including mine)
- Catered to a mature niche audience. Only for"niche noses".
- It would be preposterous for me to recommend this to anyone.
- Educate your nose to cumin before trying.
- So complex that it's quite possible that no two reviews will be alike.
- No matter how much you love this fragrance, it's so daring in a way that you will always feel insecure when you wear this.

I like when a perfumer goes left...two thumbs way up!

Gabriellitjie

It's the fruit that gets to me first, then the cumin. Hmm, it does to a certain extent convey what has been mentioned by others - a touch of the sweaty armpit. Maybe to convey passion? It is certainly very different from my other perfumes. I looked in vain for a trace of almonds, cardamom is strongly present. Interesting - by and large a smell with strong individuality. In my perfume collection this will be the "one who walks alone", my other orientals (spicy or otherwise) don't smell anything like it. Yup, definitely interesting.

Mooniq

On my skin this is the most disgusting scent I have ever smelled. Burning, sticky, spicys - and very maleish. After 30 minutes I smell sweat - maleish sweat..
thanx Allinug for a sample =) Not for me.

På min hud är denna den mest vedervärdiga doft jag nånsin känt. Brända, skarpa kryddor och väldigt manlig. Efter 30 minuter så doftar min arm manlig stickig svett.. usch...Inget för mig.
Tack Allinug för provet. =)

octobersun

Warm, spicy, exotic, sexy, addictive, sensual, outstanding and gorgeous. Absolutely love this. Aura and silage - perfect, lasts for ever as well. I just can't express enough how delighted I am right now, as a proud owner of this treasure.

meama

31)close from Lutens style, it's a concentrated of dried fruit coated with oriental spices treated with more brutal and incisive touchs. The opening is heavily lemony and orangy, a bitter and medicinal brandy from which merges immediately some warm spices, cinnamon, cumin, ginger and cardamom, creating a striking instantaneous simulation of Coca-Cola . Plum, almond and candied date then took over, with a sweet and syrupy sweetness, which continues with notes of vanilla, patchouli, incense and labdanum, creating smoke and caramelized atmosphere as a black licorice melt.
Perfectly unisex, highly sensual and terribly addictive.
Another great success of this wonderful nose that is Marc-Antoine Corticchiato which I can not even blame one poor creation.

Jack_Hunter

Totally exotic fragrance with a big dose of plum with dates and fruits. Within this mix is a touch of cumin giving the scent a slight dirty body odour scent mixing in with the fruits.

There is a lot going on within this composition with hints of ginger, patchouli and other notes all vying for your attention.

All in all if you like exotic fruity scents that is complex and interesting then check this one out.

fillifelle

I have READ the book "Aziyade" by Pierre Loti. Its actually not published anymore, if I am not wrong. So it was hellishly difficult to get a copy in my country.

Anyway, this review is for the perfume, not the book. But I have to say that the first whiff of it did bring me back to the atmosphere of the story. Of illicit affairs, narrow streets in the medina, boisterous markets selling spices, lovers' whisperings through the intricate window mesh of mashrabiyas...

The woman named Aziyade in the book is little more than a girl, cloistered in her harem, married to a much older man that is enigmatically never much present in her life. Thus begins a tender affair with the French soldier. One that is marked by petulance and passion. She is egoistical, selfish, sexual, vulnerable. The perfume does channel that, I think.

It does smell exotic alright, and a little reminiscent of Indian restaurants.

But its never vulgar, nor sweaty. I don't understand why people associate cumin with sweat. In many Indian homes, they put out a whole platter of cumin to scent the room. And if you've ever smelled the real thing in its aromatic splendour like that, you'll be able to appreciate the scent. What I'm afraid has happened is that cumin has come to be associated with bad perfumes or the smell as is secreted in perspiration, but that's not what it truly is!

Espi

Aziyadé is supposedly PdE's sexiest fragrance. Wore it mostly alone in daytime, but when I could finally show it to DH.. he approved of it :)
At first I disliked the smell of it, but it grew on me and over the many hours it lasted started to like it quite a bit.

Jayne58

I spritzed on my sample and settled down to read the NST review of this, which spoke of cola spilt over a leather jacket. I really like Aziyade, it's great fun. Cumin is my friend, smelling clean, dry, piquant and a little dusty, witness my fondness for reformulated Rochas Femme and the now discontinued Theo Fennell Scent, so I'm loving the spicy blast. The cola (I understand from what others have said, this is the pomegranite - a note that I am quite unfamiliar with) fizzes merrily away at the top along with some juicy citrus. The dried fruit provide a richness to the backdrop and the warmth from a healthy dose of cinnamon reminds me of another winter favourite, Jungle L'elephant. Aziyade is likewise a winter scent and it is already spring, so I won't be going for a full bottle, but I might see if I can get my hands on a larger decant later in the year.
......

1 hour later, where are you going Aziyade? Come back, come baaaack ....

tulpe

got this as a sample. It is such a sensual perfume, really very outstanding, a must have for oriental lovers! First i feel a blast of citruses in cardamon, and after few moments there comes plum into this intoxicating company. Base is also lovely, on my skin its incsense with a hint of pachouli and vanilla.
I think it would be most lovely on summer nights and in autumn, sure ont my wishlist, as i love spicy perfumes

ian85

Aziyade, je t'aime! Puissant, sensuel, addictif. Les charmes de l'orient dans la moiteur des corps. Torride : 10/10

Darker Than Black

I think I'm a girl who can wear oriental scents and they suits me very well. But Aziyade is too much for me. It's too yammy in a foodish way. And Aziyade has a hidden sexual nature with a lot of cumin, spices and sweet fruits. Too hot for me!

pb0330

one me, the only thing i can smell is cumin. while i like the spice in my food, i do not want to smell of it, so this one is not a keeper for me, glad i only got a sample.

sherapop

Parfums d'Empire AZIYADE is a woody oriental which opens slightly sour but soon thereafter smooths out into a rather spicy, slightly sweet composition suitable for lads and lasses alike. The wood notes are dark and seductive, and there is much less “pulverized incense effect” than in WAZAMBA. Actually, the wood seems more like oil-burnished mahogany or cherry or teak than carbonized incense. There is a bit too much cumin (and carob?) for my taste, but I'm sure that many oriental lovers will appreciate this creation.

sky76sky

Post-Christmas I had a week of sniffing delicate, light & airy waif-like scents - full of whimsy & sweet floral breaths....& then I cracked open my test vial of Aziyade from Nanano & it almost blew my head off!

Aziyade took me straight back to Christmas...not my festive week but one amped & ramped up to theatrical standards - red & gold, velvet, jewels, spangle, spices, candied fruits, brown sugar, ... eat up eat up!.....mulled wine, burning logs, pot pourri, fancy linens, oranges studded with cloves, port, plums in brandy...pass the indigestion tablets!

This scent is a mini disconected movie: drift past a crumbling theatre: old-fashioned waxy red lipstick, hot lamps, scented candles, greasepaint, divas. Now skip back to a saccharine childhood & add some super-sonic Big Red Cinnamon chewing gum, a can of flat cherry cola & a plastic doll head.....turn the volume up, up, up & you will experience the whirlwind of the over-confident Aziyade.

If she were a woman she would be large & sexy, with red lipstick, an artsy scarf, slightly drunk, bejewelled & festooned in glamour from head to toe, the life & soul of the party, dahhhrling, mwah, mwah.

But, for all its overt opulence & quirky overload I ended up with a soft spot for Aziyade. She is fun. Ok, she tends to out-wear me but I like her punchy attitude, daring me to be loud, proud & dramatic.

Like fancy dress, it is better to be whole-hog than half-cocked.

Migotka

This is definitely my favourite scent from the line.
Slightly similar to Wazamba, which for me was unfortunately too heavy and spicy and abundant in the notes I am not all that fond of.

Aziyade is really delicious, fruity-incense-spice. Actually now when we are so close to Christmas, it really fits in with the festive spirit. The first part here is all about fruit, cinnamon and cardamon, fruit dipped in hot syrup, spiced up and served hot. Then we get the lovely incense and vanilla and earthy patchouli. So not all that foody, but definitely had got the gourmand accords in there.

The lasting power and sillage are very good (4 hours and counting).

This is an extraordinary scent. It starts with a lot of lovely fruity notes. But after a few seconds I smell sweat. I think it's the cumin. A pinch of cumin is good (especially in oriental dishes) but not such a lot in a perfume.

out of all the 12 samples I had from this perfume house , this is the one I am indefinably going to buy

Whenever a reviewer says that a particular fragrance makes them happy, I tend to cringe and fear that the perfume in question is of the cutesy, annoying and uninspired sort. Well, today the joke seems to be on me, because Aziyade does indeed make me happy. I'm not jumping for joy or smiling feeble-mindedly at strangers, but it just does make my day slightly better. The plum combined with vanilla and cinnamon are just sweet enough to make me think of a delicious dessert.

Since to my experience most men love an authentically edibly sweet perfume on a woman, I'd say there's a fair number of blokes out there who would even consider licking Ann Robinson if she wore something like this.

My signature fragrance… best of the best. Nothing is like this masterpice. Sweet, fruity, juicy and FULLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of spices. Mysterious like trip to the orient.

I am instantly intrigued by the description and must sample... I wonder will it transport me to mysterious, sensual wonders of the mind's eye? Let's see. . . At first application I am smitten. I savor this fragrance for at least 10 minutes before I remember I'm supposed to be writing a review. Ok, I am intrigued but have to reapply as I have missed the opening. (Forgive me) At second application I stay focused enough to tell you I am mesmerized by the spices. I never saw the pomegranate . If it was there it was just a whisper. I can imagine a simmering pot of sugar and water, vanilla, cinnamon, shredded fresh ginger, candied orange rinds, (not marmalade-y), dates and prunes. I guess that's the dry plum mentioned. Add vanilla and cinnamon to taste. As these are melding together the bad boys patch, musk, incense and frankincense make their appearance, softly blending with the simmering pot ingredients. So artfully blended the lines between, top note to dry down are lovingly blurred.
Applause! Applause! Mr. Corticchiato, take a bow!

This was my favorite out of all the samples I recently ordered. Spicy, warm scent full of cinammon. To me this is a comfort scent, perfect for cold weather and easily wearable all day long. The lasting power is quite good, as with all PdE perfumes but is not as loud as others. It does remind me of Frapin 1270 as another reviewer mentioned, but I like this one better, because it's not as sweet. Cinammon and spice lovers should definitely try this one.

Mitsouko

In Aziyade is as abundance of oriental fruits and spices, that it reels in head. I feel, as if fly on me nectar orange, peaches, pomergranate, I feel, as if I have charged my body coriander, pepper, caravay. Scent is baroque, is like smell Dionizos drink . It very abundant , hedonist, heavy, joyful, full oriental luxury perfume. Vey thick , notes are crowded. Is clear smell of sweat ( cummin?), but is not unpleasant smell. It can be erotic perfume, as framer author of smell Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, though for me more erotic is a bit hard, no too pleasant, for example - mysterious Mitsouko. But what - problem taste, but Aziyade is fine, because is juicy, very color and unusually cheerful. I do not know , if I will buy Aziyade, because it's loud and provoking. But is very fascinatis...

When I first sprayed this for at least 20 minutes or so, I thought, why does it smell like a nutty lemonade? I think it might eb the crystallised dates which, especially when first sprayed, give it that 'fizzy' scent. Anyway after an hour or so out come the cinnamon and other spies and this combined with the subtle sweetness of the opening notes, smells lovely. It has impressive sillage. I don't have a problem with the cumin. As for the vanilla/patchouli musk drydown, well it's there but only very faintly in the background. But still it lends a nice deep sensuality to the blend. It doesn't smell totally unique to me, it reminds me a bit of Sushi Imperiale (which I also have) and Frapin 1270. (I've never smelt Dinner by Bobo). All in all a nice sensual oriental fragrance. Luckyscent's description is, once again, spot on.

Why pomegranate, why??? It would be just great without it. Resionus, with dried plums, very much like Femme Rochas EdP (not EdT), but that pomegranate makes it smells like Coca Cola poured over dried plums.
Still very good, but without that Coca Cola note, it would be really perfect.
Btw, I don`t detect any cumin here, but I don`t get it in Femme either.
