Maybe my tester is from a bad batch, but this smells like mosquito repellent (confirmed by multiple people) 😅 Very sharp... And distinct alcohol smell.

Heliotrope72

Rating: 😶🤔
Do I like it: It's okay
Who it is: A retired middle school teacher in her 70s that had an affair with the headmaster that one time (but she didn't know he was married)
Smells I get: musk, powder
Meyer's Briggs type: ISFP, ISFJ

It's a nice scent, with the powder in it being a heavier, more baby-wipe-like rendition of the one in Kenzo's Flower. In fact, I'd say it pulls very similar to Solinotes Cotton on me.

Very reminiscent of baby wipes and very fleeting (disappears in a couple of hours on me), quite heavy and very clean-feeling. I can see this being quite sexy on a particular skin chemistry.
Not enamored, not disappointed.

lessthanzero

Tender, soft, creamy, clean, delicately sweet, fresh, warm. Yes, it smells wonderfully retro, but it is not at all dated smelling. It has the same "feeling," but doesn't smell similar to, Bruno Acampora's famous Musc. But where that one is sort of earthy, hairy-chested "sex bomb," Reminiscence Musc is the kind of sunny, optimistic, polite, comforting scent you'd imagine on a nurse or grade school teacher.

Very 70's. Think fleece blankets with satin edging, beaded macrame curtains, Corelle dinnerware, and everything in shades of harvest gold, coppertone, or avocado.

Yummy, creamy, ylang + almond musk. Perfect. 4.5/5

(Similar to: Bruno Acampora Musc, Ylang 49 by Le Labo, Etro Musk)

This is so pretty! It starts with sparkly aldehydes and ylang, reminiscent of some of Chanel's work - things like L'eau Premiere, then calms down into a soft fluffy blend of powdery almond, ylang, iris? (Not given as a note but I swear it's there).
Only seems to last a couple of hours in me, but I don't mind respraying.
Layers very well over Reminiscence Vanille Santal which lasts ages.

supersaiyan

Lovely powdery almond musk, opens almost identical to Prada Infusion d'Amande (which I was concerned about because I have negative memories associated with that scent) but quickly calms down into something very reminiscent of Nicolai's Kiss Me Intense. Musc is much more wearable and gentle than Kiss Me Intense, which is a hyper-feminine confectionery princess type scent full of licorice and almonds. The perfect in-between for me as I do like the profiles of both scents previously mentioned but there were issues with them. I think personally, Musc strikes the perfect balance of musk, almond, sweetness, and overall strength of the scent. It does not have any wow-factor; rather, Musc is demure and gentle without any rough edges, and that is what makes this scent so special.

I've recently been getting into musks and decided I'd give this a shot. Especially considering the notes - almond, powdery notes and amber.
I've lived in Orlando, FL my whole life - 36 years. With that being said, this reminds me of my childhood, specifically 1992. When I really first started remembering going to Disney World.
Knowing that this perfume came out in 1970, SOMEONE around me must have been wearing this fragrance during this era in my life being it takes me back to this time frame.
It's a very comforting scent for me. A big hug from your mom type scent.

dualaokto

I bought this last year and I didn’t realy care. I thought it’s just another simple classic musky perfume. Today I revisited some of vintage Reminiscence in my collection, tried them, and stunned by Musc. The nutty and musky aspect are equally strong in this perfume, and I love how the ylang added more complex nuance to the musk note.

The drydown is so comforting, so heavenly. Light powdery, almondish, musky, with perfect dose of warmness.

downtomars13

Such a light and powdery awesome musk. I definitely get the almond. The description says it came out in 1970, but don't let that fool you. This feels like it could still be a modern musk as well. This works for all ages. Love

V3ronica

I bought this frangrance thinking it would be a sweet vanilla musc amber, that very vanilla that makes us thinking about babies nappies. So i was rapidly disappointed.
For me it starts with a strong anise star smell, wich for me is not very pleasant, it is a smell that doesn't hit the top of the head but flotes horizontally as you inspire the smell slowly trying to define what really is this. Apart of that, i feel the almond, vanilla, musc, no flowers, powder yes but not soapy.
I left this perfum away of me but always on my sight to try it again after my disappointment passed away.
So i did.
The first 10 times i tried, each time i felt the fragrance on myself, i remembered how this blind buy was a mistake.
So i put this away again, and, one day i was not feeling confortable with my favorite fragrances, i was looking for something warm, that hugs me, and i picked this one. And now i just feel so good with it, i feel like I'm using something unique and different. And i am also thinking about buying tonka! Because the only Reminiscence vanillais not there anymore...
I can say it was hard to fall in love with, but now it's in my hear forever! Nice experience.

annn1

It starts out quite musky, borderline animalic musky, actually, so if you find that problematic, I would stay away from it (but then you probably wouldn't go for a perfume called "Musc" in the first place). But quite soon it settles into a non-offensive, but long-lasting (all day!) phase of soft, cozy, powdery creaminess. It could probably be worn for any occasion and all year round but I prefere it in cooler weather. It smells like an expensive beige cashmere sweater should smell like.

I love that feeling of calm and comfort I get from Musc. I get the same vibe from CK Reveal although they are quite different fragrances. I like layering Musc in top of Reveal in fact, which is a really nice combination.

I have the older bottle with the stars. Don't knkow if there is a difference to the new release.

LinnieR

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but this smells like childhood and summer vacation. I get baby powder and 90s plastic dolls. It makes me nostalgic and I like it, but I wish the floral scent was stronger. Cozy and comfy

josefin

Just got my hands on one of the older versions I think(?), a bottle with stars on it. It was a blind buy and I actually was quite confident that I would like it, based on the notes and reviews here but unfortunately I was not impressed, just confused. Not sure if they reformulated it when the bottle changed but this one to me smells like beeswax..?! If you've ever been on one of those arts and crafts markets where people sell like bread, jam, marmalade etc. there usually also is a stand where they sell honey, beeswax cakes, candles made out of beeswax - and of course also chapsticks. To me this perfume smells like a beeswax chapstick. It also have some sort of plastic doll smell to it. After some time it got a little bit more powdery, but still I just can't do with this beeswax smell so It's gonna have to find a new owner.

CiCiGourmand

When I first sprayed this I was immediately taken back to a restaurant where I always ordered the Peking Duck. After more thought I realized that Musc resembled Chinese Five Spice! That's what my nose picks up and in no way am I saying that's a bad thing. After awhile it gets softer and resembles baby powder. I only have a few samples but I'd like a full bottle so I can test it out a bit more. I like it. It's nice.

Ferra_Verto

Buttery almondy baby oil musk; soft & smooth, very creamy and clean. It's very mellow but it's clingy and long-lasting, perfect for cuddling. Can't wait to revisit this when it's warmer, this would wear beautifully in spring & summer.

Bubbles1964

A pretty clean musk with almond and floral, very soft. Smelled a little like baby powder in the opening but quickly transitioned away and became something more suitable for adults. Nice and easy to easy wear.

Bmh4796

The initial spray is almond vanilla. The dry down is a LOT like Jovan musk, but less complicated (and Jovan is much cheaper of course.) I quite like this fragrance and don’t understand why so many say it’s animalic. It’s very soft and cozy. It’s sexy warm seductive but not animalic. It’s a clean erotic, not a dirty erotic if that makes sense. It’s romantic.

It reminds me of Giorgio Armani sensi. I get the same feeling when i wear it this as i did wearing Sensi. It’s warm and sexy like sensi, but the lovely sensi is a fortune now if you are lucky enough to find it! I’m not saying this is a dupe. I’m just saying it gives me that same sensual cozy vanilla almond romantic feeling. And i don’t like vanilla almond. The vanilla almond is in the initial spray, not the dry down. I get compliments when i wear this, and some men are like “WHAT are you wearing” — I’m telling you— it’s a very sexy fragrance. The Walgreens checkout kid said “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you smell absolutely amazing.” Lol

SingleWomansPot

Blind bought but agree that it smells like baby oil, at least on initial spray. After the dry down it strangely reminded me of hotels with swimming pools. Brought back memories of summer travels with family. I'm happy with this purchase. Don't know if this would be a daily wear but certainly is a summer frag that I would wear when I want to feel like traveling.

TabledThoughts

As a fan of musk and having owned a wide variety of them I knew I had to try this brand as I was so impressed with their patchouli perfume.
Upon first spray, I was reminded of Houbigant Alyssa Ashley Musk until the tart sweetness of ylang ylang and coumarin began to emerge. I can just barely detect the subtle powdery almond. This fragrance possesses an undeniable femininity and almost "little girly" quality to it.
I appreciate it's determination to be different.
It starts with a bang but loses energy fairly quickly so expect close to the skin at best in sillage.
The ultimate drydown has you wearing a white floral white musk with a distinctive edge.

UnearthlyApothecary

Smells very similar to Kuumba Made Vanilla Musk same sweet almond-y white musk but less play-doh more floral. Skin close and cozy, this will be a great bed time scent

ivadim

Много добре блендиран аромат, като всичко от марката, което познавам. Гален, кремав, леко опушен, леко сладък, но не сладникав, чист, несапунен.

Mona Lygre

I got a sample of this nice perfume and I like it very much :))

I compare it with Musc Solinotes, which I also have; the Solinotes is much fresher, and Remi's much more powdery, they are both very good perfumes, but, I must say I prefer the cheaper Solinotes.

And, yes, there is almond in it, and I mean A LOT!

I recommand this perfume to everybody, it's easy to wear and smells very, very nice :))

La règle du jus

I smell patchouli in this. Seventies vibe. I dislike. Nothing to do with Kiehl's Original Musk which is splendid.

mirrorghost

this is a powdery cloud of almond and heliotrope. i love these sorts of scents. i recently tested reminiscence's heliotrope but i actually prefer this because it's a little drier and not as sweet, but there are definitely similarities. i get absolutely zero florals in this, just a dry powdery almond with sweetness.

Amour, Michele

I don't understand some of the reviews that describe this as fecal or animalic... It's musk but it smells very clean. I totally agree with another reviewer that this smells like babies. Sweet, calm, clean, powdered, almond-y babies. Very soft, but also very persistent. Beautiful almond musk scent that has the perfect amount of powdery-ness. The powder aspect is not suffocating, it's more plush and fluffy. I love this! Glad it comes in a BIG bottle and great price.

Allinug

This perfume is so strong on me and triggers a headache but it stays forever on my skin even after I tried to wash it off.

TNikell

I thought I would love this scent...unfortunately it’s a no for me. I don’t get the soapy scent at all(and I like soapy scents)! Oddly on me it has this weird funk to it(like someone’s bottom). I don’t get any of the other notes in this. I’ve tried it multiple times to give it a chance...I even left it on for hrs to see if that funk would disappear...and it did to a softer funk(still very much funky though). So I will definitely give this to someone who body chemistry compliments this.

greydove

Why did they change the bottles? They were brilliant!

Disa_17

Starts off Almond and remains Almond, a cloudy Almond, with a slight slant to floral. This fragrance on me is not unpleasant. Not a sophisticated production just OK.

spyral.1

I don't mind difficult openings but this is super screechy and almost rancid on my skin. It settles down after an hour into a beautiful, soft and cozy musk but completely fades at the three-hour mark. Such a shame that it didn't work for me, but I can imagine that this would smell amazing with the right chemistry.

lapioggianelpineto1977

yes, I get too the Kiehl's Musk oil vibe, but in a much softer, cozier way.
This is a very well done, warm, stays close to the skin musk.
Unfortunately on me it doesn't last long.
I will try to layer it.
Still a good musk.

sleepy*weasel

It's basically a soapy, clean musk, like Kiehl's No. 1 without the faecal note/civet. If you like Kiehl's but don't like the civet note, then this is for you. It's soft, slightly sweet, powdery, and probably the cleanest musk scent ever labelled as "musc". Quite pleasant but at a completely different end of the spectrum from MKK; it even makes Musc Nomade seem dirty. This is for people who don't want animalic notes. That's not me, but it is a pretty and inoffensive scent, the musk equivalent of Ivoire. Enjoy x

Mammajamma

I have worn this three or four times now, and I love it. When I don't want to have an overwhelming presence and I just want a snuggly, comforting scent.... It reminds me of holding my babies when they were very, very small and you could only give them a bath every other day. Remember the yellow Johnsons baby shampoo? This smells like a baby's head that was washed with that, but the next day... Just cuddly and soft, a bit sweet on top of the musc. Jovan musk can smell like that shampoo , but more musky and animalistic.... Reminiscence Musc, once the startling ylang opening settles, just makes me feel calm and peaceful. I had to reapply once today, but then it really seemed to stay around. Like a hug from a loved one.

Irisaddict

Just tried a sample of this today, it wasn't what I was expecting at all and I can't get past the fact that this smells almost exactly like Johnson's Baby Oil! I don't dislike the delicate sugary wafts of sweet, powdery almond & heliotrope but it smells almost identical to said oil, so I can't see me ever wearing this as a perfume.

jenniewebb

This is a strange one. On me it's a powdery sweet/mild spicy musk. Sort of weird in a nice way. I like it, but it's hard to peg into a style of musk. Perhaps a vegetal, animalistic musk with sweet powder on top? I suggest sampling before purchasing.

sophywt

How strang it smells completely flora on me!

it turns out to be a pretty, chic heliotrope scent, slightly powdery and milky vanilla-ish in the base. There is no animalic or fecal smell, and i hardly notic any typical musk notes. A soft, innocent scent from beginning to the end.

It is better than L.T. Piver's Blanc Heliotrope on me. The almond notes are rounded well with other notes and have a balmy feel, while Piver's occasionally gives a plastic or cyanide smells.

Lasting power is ok, and to those like skin scent, this one could be perfect.

christianne1

I have been wanting to try this for ages and I'm so glad I finally did! What a gorgeous powdery almond musk! Classic type of musk but with a softer edge than many of the classics, while still remaining very musky. Nothing screechy or sharp about it. I am a big musk fan and have tried tons and this is one of my very favorites. Leans pretty feminine so just a warning. Sensual but only slightly animalic. I get no skank whatsoever. It is like a classic musk with a slight modern twist that keeps it from smelling dated. Musc does fall a bit flat and sweet after a couple of hours but a quick touch up spray will bring you back to musky almond heaven.

raw umber

Thanks to 2746cstreet for my sample of this. Reminiscence Musc is surprisingly rich and honeyed. I don't know what I was expecting, but the natural sweetness actually calls to mind Cedre by Serge Lutens. I think it's the amber which registers as honey that connects the two scents for me. Anyone who is pursuing a naturally sweet honey-type scent would be right to check this out. It's just lovely.

The musk, while not raunchily animalic per se, has the animalic quality that honey naturally possesses, making this a very original and appealing interpretation of musk. Almond really comes to the fore in the dry down, though its fruity nuances are more perceptible than its potential to turn chokingly powdery. It is clear and lucid.

Musc is at once intimate and non-demanding. The best combination of qualities, with great longevity and low projection in the cooler temperatures I am experiencing today.
Sweet and chill.

polly golightly

uno dei pochissimi profumi al muschio che mi piace. inizia con un muschio soft, passa attraverso un verdissimo ylang-ylang, assestandosi sulla mandorla amara

spidola

If it supposed to be a perfume of “love or hate”, I’m in the love side… Even more - I absolutely love it! Musc is a marvelous skin scent, like your own skin but better.

It’s sweet, but not cloying. It opens with ylang-ylang, but this top note fades rather quickly leaving the place to sweet ambery almond. The musc is always dominant, from the opening to the dry down, but it’s not the Musc Nomad AG kind fresh pure musc (that for me was rather irritating), its’soft, powdery and inviting. I would compare it with Narciso Rodrigues For Her Musc Intence were musc is combined with honey, amber and ylang-ylang.

Even if I think it’s suitable for day and night use, I do not suggest it as blind buy. But I’m really happy that I found this wonderful, soft, silent, secret weapon of seduction…

Longevity 5-6 hours.

Mellyhelly

I tested this one yesterday and I was slightly disappointed because I expected a much more almondy-powdery scent and more powerful.
In the beginning it smells very fecal, but much tamed compared to other famous musks.
It was disturbing or just embarassing. After 10 minutes the fecal edge went away, almost, and I smelled a soft delicate fragrance, not overly complex, close to the skin with a vague almond note, thanksgod not your typical synthetical punch-in-your-nose almond you get everywhere. It smells both sexy and innocent, carefree as if it was just a hint of an aura of unknown perfume that could be the wearer herself.
The sillage is not big but it's longlasting on my skin.
I think it's a little bit simple and it reminds me of Bottega Verde Muschio Bianco, but better.
It gives me an idea of a scent that grows on you in time.

nakedcity

Those of us who were fortunate to have hiked up to a high mountain top, high enough to be inside a big cloud on a cold day, you have smelled Musc. I don't find this fecal in the least, nor do I smell anything animalic. What I know is this scent has everything I like: bit of powder, clean musk and great staying power without being strong. In fact it is the softest longest lasting thing I own and I love it for it. It smells like soft almond incense, if such a thing exists. This is an overlooked gem worthy of more praise and recognition. Really simple and honest, well composed and low key but not wimpy. Gorgeous.

2746cstreet

MY FAVORITE.

In the very beginning there is a slight indolic quality, but it fades to a soft, buttery almond + ylang-ylang with a creamy, animalic base.

Smells like warm bread and sex. I don't mean "sex in a bottle". I literally mean it smells like sex. Like "ho, air out your bedroom".

mondaniaux

On my skin this smells fecal, I thought there was something wrong with my nose, so I asked my son to smell the spot at the back of my hand where I sprayed Musc by Reminiscence... and he said "yuck"! Oh well, this one doesn't agree with my chemistry.

kitten_steele

It's too much musc for me. I have a sample of this and I sprayed both on me and on my boyfriend. It smells better on him. On his skin it smells like cinnamon and woody notes. Since musc really is a male thing, I think it's natural that it smells better on males. On my skin it smells ok, but it's too much musc and I find that boring. I want something more than just musc in the mixture. After several hours, the musc almost gets me nauseous. Several hours of smelling musc, I feel it starts to smell similar to gasoline. It's a perfume you either love or hate, I guess. It takes the right skin chemistry to pull this one off nicely and in my opinion, a male is better suited to wear this.

pvzdr

I love this perfume very very much

its so good!

Annelien1987

This is my least favorite by Reminiscence but I do like it. The Ylang Ylang is really strong. It's gentle but sexy.

MissLola

i test it today, i don't like it at all, it's to strong to much old lady like. Not my cup of tea, i can't wait to wash it of.

bluefalcon07

This fragrance is soapy and very softly.
It does not have sharp taste.
A gentle fragrance.
I usually wear "Pachouli by Reminiscence", but sometimes wear this for a change.
