L’Eau Serge Lutens by Serge Lutens is a Floral Aldehyde fragrance for women and men. L’Eau Serge Lutens was launched in 2009. L’Eau Serge Lutens was created by Serge Lutens and Christopher Sheldrake.

Serge Lutens wanted to create the “anti-perfume” with the clean notes of fresh and clear scent rather than a perfume in the classic sense. This fragrance is his response to the over production of perfumes and artificial scents. The fragrance is fresh as a mountain air and breeze, creating a feeling of just taking a bath and slipping into clean clothes.

Notes: aldehydes, citrus, magnolia, white mint, clary sage, ozonic notes and musk.

It is available as 100 ml EDT.

This fragrance feels like if your everyday morning breakfast of scrambled eggs got prepared by a 5 star Michelin chef for a change.
There is not a lot in there for him to work with, but he still manages to elevate it beyond what it was and leave his signature style in it.

This is Serge Lutens L'eau, a classic fresh summer citrus/herbal fragrance composed by Chef Sheldrake.

Fresh citrus, fresh herbal notes, aldehydic opening, the citrus notes seems to be more of a lemon-lime combo rather than the typical sweet bergamot or lemon zest, and it works very well with the fresh herbal notes provided by the clary sage of exceptional quality, that also helps to very smoothly transition the scent into the white musk empowered mid and base phases of the drydown.

Fresh, uplifting, classy sensation, that still hints of that masterful complexity of Sheldrake compositions.

This is honestly, the first fragrance in the "summer freshy" class that i will straight up give a win over my usual all time favorite Dior Homme Cologne. It just has something extra in it, an x-factor if you will, that DHC current formulation lacks.

The only thing this composition not exactly needs, but would be enhanced by, would be a good dose of Iso E Super to bolster performance and projection, and maybe add some of that woody sensation that can work well with both the white musk and herbal qualities, so if you have a bottle of Molecule 01 lying around, i think it would be worth trying to layer L'eau on top of it and see the results.

As it is the case with this types of natural ingredients, there are quite fragile and disperse easily in the air from your skin, so do not expect miracles in longevity or projection - if you want this to last you a long business day, you will have to refresh it 1-2 times.

Overall, this is not "your usual Serge Lutens" but it is far from being a disappointment - i would say its easily competing for "best in class" summer freshie, even if that class of fragrances is usually as far removed from what Serge Lutens does as they go.

I prefer the new version

iris

Smells new, in every sense of the word. First the iron steam, until you realize it's lemon and mint and aldehydes with a herbal touch. Then it's iron steam again. A polarizing scent and a turning point for Lutens fans back in the days, in such contrast with everything Lutens and Sheldrake had done before, a sudden realization that things evolve, that incense and amber and spice fumes have seriously clouded the landscape and it's time to move on.

Tshahb

Exactly like the MFK Aqua line, bright, fresh, light, sharp, slightly sour, with a noticable fixative woody/musky base. Good for after the shower freshness or when you want your scent to be discreet and inoffensive.

This a great light fragrance to layer over a something strong that you want to calm down. It's nothing spectacular, but it's clean and fresh and keeps me from having to jump in the shower if I overspray!

muzzbait

I got this free sample with a purchase of another scent, and as it was literally THE ONLY sample available that I had not tried, I selected it.
Unspectacular, unremarkable and actually quite beautiful smelling.
I feel like I've smelt this a few hundred times before elsewhere, and as such I am completely unmoved.
I know this one is over 10 years old, and it's likely to have been the inspiration for scents I have likened to this, but it's still rather uninspiring, for me at least, and possibly other.
Soft, gentle marine accords (aldehydes), summery citrus vibes and a herby-musky background that actually complements the scent quite well.
But still, it's like so many scents already out there.
I know you can't blame the originator if there are a heap of dupe scents afterwards, but still, I doubt I would've been moved by this in 2009 either...

Cherry_Darling

Fresh, clean, but quite aldehydic and soapy. A little resin, a little herb and citrus, quite complex however fairly soft. Interesting scent! Not sure if i have the old version or the 2022 version but notes seem similar...

This fragrance reminds me of fresh-smelling personal care products for men (in a good way). I got it thinking by the notes that it would be unisex, but to my nose this is definitely more masculine. Again, reminds me of fragrances usually used for men personal care products (shower gels, creams), thus it seems masculine to me, but it is definitely a very nice fragrance. It's fresh, clean, has good projection. Would give as a gift.

missloveschocolate

This fragrance made me fall in love with Serge Lutens. I spent so much time trying to find what it was…it was so different. Was also my first ever niche parfum. The day I found out what it was, I found out so many things. Was about 15 years ago now and I’m still in love with this perfume.
To me, this is a clean slate crystal freshness perfume. Imagine March, winter sun shining bright, the snow beginning to melt. You breathe in the crispy air, waiting for the summer to come, already smelling the Greek citrus plants, so close, yet so far away still. The air is pure, it fills your lungs with oxygen. You feel fresh and ready to conquer.

Ps. It’s definitely a unisex perfume, maybe not so much for the flowery types.

jackie strength

Why hasn't anyone written ?this scent smells like " L'eau d'Issey " .
not fresh, depressing and ordinary (contrary to what is written here )
this my first blind buy regret.

Malifiscent

This is a decent minimal scent, if you're into that. Very inoffensive, clean, and easy to reach for in professional or daily settings. It has an extremely faint citrus without being too sharp as some citruses can be, with a fresh and watery soap or laundry detergent undertone. When I say watery, I don't particularly mean aquatic, but more so in the sense that it feels like soaked soap; dewy, soft and rounded, nothing that would pierce your nose. It does have a slight chilled feel to it, like touching a cold metal surface, from the combination of airy aldehyde and mint. I would say the packaging and colour of the juice is suited for the scent; transparent, and simple.

gemma_ni

If scent has color, L'eau from Serge Lutens is white. This is how simple and clean the scent is.

If scent has temperature, L'eau is below 37 celsius-degree. It is cooler on the skin, just like a splash of water.

Singabera

Pleasant cologne-y type of fragrance, mint and citruses are noticeable, very clean, a bit soapy.
I'm sure you've smelled something like that before, nice but nothing interesting.

Kurama

I received a sample of this and I've been wearing it for the last couple of days.
It is definitely a clean scent. Many already described it here as soapy, "detergenty" and fresh. To me it opens exactly like a nice-smelling creamy after-shave, then it settles into a toned-down soapy fragrance. It's not sharp or unpleasant, but it also doesn't make me want to buy a full bottle. There is no complexity in it. If you're a nurse or doctor it might be right down your alley during the working hours. I also can hardly imagine anyone getting nauseated or disturbed by it.
Was nice to experience this category of fragrance, but I guess that's just not how I would like to smell.

I will give it a try in the heat of summer again and update my review, maybe the cold season it's really not the time for it to shine.

향붕

Fantastic! I bought it without any informations about it!
But it was fantastic for me, and now, too.
I feel this scent is so fresh, clean, like laundry or detergent.
Only it. IT IS JUST DETERGENT'S SCENT!
Frankly speaking, i think that some people who hate watery smell will clearly hate this perfume.

PLUS TIP:(For Blind Purchasing)
If you smell scent like this low price,
Find CLEAN COOL COTTON. It resemble cool cotton's scent!

This is my second review. I have changed my mind. I wear this one in winter and is even much better and sparkling. Robust longevity On skin and clothes.
Very chilled feel to it, i can isolate the clary sage the most. It is something i really was looking for after discontinuation of Chaos(DK), and Azzaro’s Belle.

Andy the Frenchy

I can barely smell it. I love subtle scents, I love a few of Escentric Molecules, I like the other eaux (Froide, d'Armoise and de Paille) but here it's a little too much of nothing.

Pass.

Konga5000

This is such a strange scent. I can see that Mr. Lutens wants you to "sit down and make yourself uncomfortable" ...at first.
Medicine-y opening, then there is some smothered floral that is being bogged down by, well, "freshness".

Yes to all the people who said it hits that "fresh laundry" note BUT not in a bad way, like Snuggle or you-pick-it dryer sheets.

YES this would be great to wear to a doctor's office -- as it smells...........CLEAN, with nothing that screams "this person is wearing a loud perfume".

seventh

This is exclusively winter fragrance. Has a suffocating effect in summer, despite the clean feel, it is very potent creation.

aconeyisland

Not the best Lutens in my collection but I’ve grown rather fond of it. It’s all about metellic aldehydes and white chemical magnolias, in an attempt of playing with the idea of cold water out of rusty pipes. Maybe doesn’t sound inviting but it’s great in the heat and I also enjoy it now as a winter casual eau. It has a contemporary/urban vibe and on me a good longevity. I occasionally layer it with Stella McCartney edt and the rose becomes fizzy.

nektarinka

This reminds me of a freshly washed white cotton dress or better still a light white cardigan , with emphasis on white colour... the magnolia and aldehydes create this feeling of fresh and clean aura, but not that feminine, but more like a teacher who keeps distanceand who used an expensive fabric conditioner. White Flowery-Aldehydes vibe with clean undertone.
You wouldnt know if the person just took her top from the drier or sprayed this on her clothes, very very strong and long lasting too, can be annoying after a while, so 1 max 2 sprays are enough.

gtabasso

this smells fruity to me in the top and floral; the magnolia definitely is there; in the bottom, the mint is really prominent

Scents & Vision

A modern minimalist interpretation of the smell of freshness by one of the masters of excess.
Today, 18 June, is the hottest day of the year in the UK. Serge Lutens L'eau is exactly what I need to wear.

LuluSaintly

Fabulous clean white floral - just the thing to wear for visits to the doctor (why I'm wearing it today!), or with a crisp white cotton or linen shirt. Makes you feel fresh all day, and last absolutely ages. If you like Dove soap, this gives the same feeling, but for hours and hours. Only wear it if you want to live with it all day and beyond.

gelo999

L'Eau is a kind of Scent Skin, soft, light, pleasant and comfortable to wear.

The entrance of citrus is not all fresh or sparkling that should when citrus are natural, it feels, something pungent, powdery and artificial, but not at all unpleasant. Then enter the aldehydes very well inserted, herbal notes, green and aromatic in the right measure and the floral note of magnolia that is perfect and very well balanced with the rest and that illuminates one point more than the other notes, which makes Improve and save the resulting aroma.

As it evolves, that character becomes powdered by musk, but it does so in a discrete and very measured way. In addition there is an undeclared note of wood, possibly cedar that adds a dry touch, something similar to the smell of graphite pencils throughout the drying and accompanies the musk until almost the end of residual scent in skin.

Of this fragrance I emphasize only the good general balance, a good duration and the good work done with the aldehydes, but it lacks more quality, much more projection and above all, more spark, soul or life.

I think this will replace my MFK Aqua Universalis, it's a refreshing citrus, musk floral, and this has much better longevity, allthough the scent is not as nice, but close...

This is a great discovery for me.
I have about 50 best fragrances that I have put together over the past few years. My last search was for the world's best fresh fragrances to cap of my colection.

This is a masterful fragrance, a great light airy fragrance that's not easy to find of this quality of notes and blending, and edp strength to boot, wow!

In my search for the greatest fresh fragrances or "ant-fragrances", I have found two others like this one and both are twice as expensive; Creed Royal Water and Aqua Vitae by MFK. This is very close to the two fragrances I mentioned. And great deals can be found for this one on eBay.

This frag allmost seems to be trying to be a clone of Creed Royal Water, which has basil vs Clary sage, but otherwise allmost identical.

Here the magnolia floral is light, just adds to the overall light natural outdoors scent. This does smell like the air, maybe by a garden with citrus trees in the distance.
There is a beautiful accord here, magnolia, citruses, the green Clary sage and musk, all blend so well. A SL masterpiece, my second favorite from SL after Amber -Sultan.
This is like a different take on some light neroli colognes, but with magnolia vs neroli, it also has a nice green note with the Clary sage, and a nice use of aldehydes, every part is well blended making an enjoyable whole.

This is truly universal scent nothing feminine or masculine, like herbal tea or the smell of outdoors...

This is very pleasant high quality, unique fresh fragrance. It's not easy to do, and should not be compared to other substantiall fragrances of SL.

Highly recommend, if your looking for something of this genre.
I got this from fragrancenet for $68/ 100 ml, great value!

PS: After wearing it a few more times, I am picking up on the aldehydes and magnolia, which do give it a slight feminine edge. It is reminding me more of MFK Aqua Universalis which has citrus and lilly of the valley.
I can also say of the nice citrus notes, that I pick up a Mandarin orange and lemon combo, with L''Eau SL.

Performance is great, the aldehydes may get cloying for me after a while, I like more natural notes throughout. Diptyque Eau des Sens may be a better choice for me, more natural, but leans slightly feminine.

To me it's a very special sent. It blends even more beautifully when on my skin. So clean like a sent of a wind in the high mountains in the early spring, when the flowers just risen from the ground... I buy it every spring and it lasts me the entire summer time, this way I always have that freshness. Would like to mention that it is definitely a great sent to apply in the humid summer days in NYC since it in a way breaks the awful humidity of the air and even brings a better mood without giving overpowering artificial sent that most perfumes give you at such weather conditions.

This is my fav fresh juice so far, cant wait to own a bottle. To me it settles quick and lets you enjoy the smell all through out. I love!

ayh210

The initial spray is slightly aquatic then becomes lemony fresh with a slight undercurrent of musk.

Actually, if you ever stay at W hotels, they offer Bliss lemon and sage shampoo/conditioner/lotion. This smells EXACTLY like that.

Sillage - very low. longevity - <3 hours.

WillRyanification

To me this smells exactly like a shampoo my sister used to use. Very clean, musky, and kind of fruity, but not nearly worth the price tag serge lutens deems appropriate to stick on all their fragrances. Just buy a bottle of shampoo for a fraction of the cost.

Takeshi

I only have sample and this is not for me. I think I don't like 'clean' scents, this definitely has it, plus this floral(Magnolia) that I don't do.

Longevity and sillage seems acceptable for this indoor testing, and I can imagine this smelling a lot better on women's skin. I wouldn't want to smell this scent only, this has to be worn with your natural skin chemistory or perhaps with other scents you have on your clothes/make-up/hair products or what have you.

Someone said "I don't care about anti-perfume". I feel the same, who knows about the nose. Every creations are interpreted differently and I'm not a master perfumer, I just don't feel it. I love the house though, so far.

ldyausten

I've been wearing this for the last few days and have to share the impressions I have so far. I get strong blast of citrus and soap. It almost reminds me of Hermes Orange Verte meets Bulgaria White Tea. ( I'm not sure if that makes any sense.) It's warm here now in the southeast USA. It got to almost 88 degrees fahrenheit today and it stayed with me throughout the day. I sprayed 5 sprays at 9:00 this morning and got two compliments at 8PM tonight. ( Both said "OMG what are you wearing. You smell amazing!) No one said that they smelled flowers or fruit. One person said " I dunno how to describe it but you smell great!"

I have a wide variety of fragrances in my collection, but this might be my 'go to' fragrance for this entire summer.

canny1234

On first spray I smell beautiful fresh citrus scented with Magnolia.I wish this stage would last longer before the Sage notes join the show whereupon this fragrance really becomes fairly masculine.I've been sick the last few days and this sickness really amplified the Sage notes but luckily these are now much less discernable on my skin. This perfumes fades to a clean slightly herbal fresh musk that is suitable for everyday wear and is perfectly unisex. My children could still smell I was wearing perfume after 4 hours of wear even though I couldn't.
I have and love Laine de Verre and now L'eau has joined the roster. This perfume is similar in feel to Acqua Universalis but I do feel the top notes are not as alluring as the Universalis deliciousness.

UPDATE. This perfume is a warm weather revelation. It's a delicious irresistible nectar that scents you like angel wings.

seventh

Had no intention to buy this since I have never seen it before. I have 3 SL perfumes already and i have an eye for the new coming products. However I saw this one as I was shopping fir a friend, L'eau was standing there all alone like an orphan and was discounted by 70% as nobody wish to adopt it. I didnt think twice and put it in my basket. For 30£ not only that I git a bargain but an amazing summer fragrance. Quite and polite, this is a perfect choice for an office wear. I work in a hospital and I can wear it without a fear that it will offend anyone. This is not a wow perfume but it will make you consider it as a fragrance for any occassion.

smellgood14

I own this as well as MFK aqua universalis. this trumps MFK by a mile. they smell similar but they have their differences. Projects well and lasts very long for a summer scent. Cheaper than MFK and its an EDP 3.4 Oz.

alberto1964

If "L'Eau by Serge Lutens" was a song, it would be "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, by Burt Bacharach" ..... sublime !!

Lana148

This is very transparent, minimalist, fresh, clean fragrance. It is quite pleasant creation from SL.

This juice is musky-orange-herbal with a tiny sweetness from Magnolia.

Easy, fresh, but nothing special, really.

robg303

This fragrance is a minimalists dream! While it is extremely light, it is still noticeable and will project a crisp, clean aura around you.

I've recieved several compliments while wearing this, but they weren't the usual, "wow, what are you wearing?" Instead they were more along the line of, "hey, you smell real good, very fresh and clean."

I agree you could just shower up to smell clean, but this projects cleaness further and for longer than wearing nothing.

So, despite the price and subtlety, it's a great choice for office, hospitals, school and close public contact.

It is perfect for it's intended effect!

keiserkarel

ultra clean and modern scent. cool, almost chilly. it smells like a cup of cold water with ice. (I feel menthol-ish sensation on my skin.)
the "clean" concept itself had been done by "CK one" in 90's. even so, L'eau is a brushed-up version, and fits well for office workers than grunge teens.

miracleborgtech

The description "The fragrance is fresh as a mountain air and breeze, creating a feeling of just taking a bath and slipping into clean clothes" intrigued me and I very much wanted to try this scent. It does just that, however, on me the fragrance is so light as to be almost too faint to smell. I kept spritzing and splashing - but no matter how much I put on I could barely detect it. When I did it was wonderful . . . but too transparent.

StellaDiverFlynn

Shimmering aldehyde, green lime peels, vague white floral and clean white musk, are what I get from Serge Lutens L'Eau. Clean, refreshing, bright, breezy, non-demanding, just like what it intends to be.

L'Eau stays close to skin, but for such a tranparent scent, it holds relatively well, for about 7 hours on me. This is a nice natural scent, and I do like it, and would definitely recommend it if someone's looking for a 'non-perfumey' sort of scent. But other than that, it doesn't have much interest scent-wise.

guillermostf

when i buy a niche fragrance, i hope some great and special, but it is a little naif of me. Perfumes are perfumes, it depends on each one and what kind of aroma we want to smell. L'eau it's good, but a good soap can make the job.

Marciu

I appreciate (or maybe I could say I even admire) this fragrance for what it is, but this is definitely not my pair of shoes.

It has huge cooling effect, that's for sure. Quite nice dose of mint mixes with sparkling and invigorating citruses - it reminds me a bit of fresh made lemonade with mint leaf put inside. Later on I get that "shaving foam" smell - but just a bit - it's not like Azzaro PH or Rive Gauche PH. End of this fragrance is aldehydic-herbal.

I like it, but I wouldn't use it, I think. To me, uhm, hate to categorize frags like that, but yes, it smells girly. Longevity is 5-6 hours on my skin with poor/medium longevity.

I definitely like L'Eau Froide better.

PricklyAndHot

Light citruses with mint.

Crystal citrusy freshness.

Good, but not too impressive.

Houdini4

Has a strange quality to it this scent from Serge Lutens. L'eau is certainly a fitting name for this as it is fresh and the magnolia gives it a seldom used floral note in a unisex but for me it does lean toward the feminine ever so slightly. It's not cheap smelling or anything but there's definitely something of the fabric softener about it in the opening but it improves on my skin.
To be honest L'eau is not something I'd wear but has a comforting quality reminds me EXACTLY of a cherished childhood teddy bear after it has been through the wash.

The Financier

Fresh and green.

Cassiano

L'eau Serge Lutens was released in 2010, but there are those who argue that its launch occurred in 2009. Its name means "Serge Lutens Water" and became known as the first "anti-perfume” created by Serge, going for a completely different path from what already existed in the House.

For us, Brazilians, the term is more like a kind of protest against the use of perfumes. However, in the perfumery industry, the term "anti-perfume" is linked to unusual creations that mix natural and synthetic accords and result in something never felt before. Usually, it is applied to fresh fragrances that give the impression that you are not wearing perfumes.

L'eau Serge Lutens was the first fragrance from the “Eaux” line and Serge defines its concept thus: "In my mind's eye, I kept seeing a hot iron moving back and forth on freshly washed linen. I finally distilled the image into a fragrance to get it out of my head. This Eau leaves one with the impression of having a cheek on a cotton pillowcase”.

The composition brings notes of aldehydes, citrus, Magnolia, mint, sage, musk, and Ozonic notes. It's not a bad scent, quite the contrary, it is very good. But there are aspects that I particularly like to take into account such as the quality of the scent, if it tends more to the natural or the synthetic, if it lasts, if it has great projection, etc.

Starting from this point, I'd say this is a floral perfume, which is very well made, with a very natural tone, but it dies here. It has a nice note of Magnolia, with some citrus tones and nothing else. I don't feel the sage, the musk or the mint. In addition, it is the kind of fragrance sold as unisex, but tends more to the feminine. It's more like a shareable female perfume than a unisex perfume, in my opinion. To finish, it has low performance: projected and exuded, beautifully, for about three hours. However, after that, I could barely feel any rest of the fragrance on my arms (remembering that the scent tends to stick on hairy arms).

That's why I became disappointed. I prefer a low projection scent that lasts for hours, than one that leaves a trace, but needs to be reapplied, making me insecure. And, just between us, who invests in a Serge Lutens bottle doesn't deserve to go through this, isn't it?

alyssalim

Just got a bottle recent. Very impressed with this fragrance. Am gonna explore other Serge Lutens perfume as well.

busik

Cool! Super-super, want-I want! Modern, techno-artificial, fresh, clean scent, unisex.

Arodis

I have Issey. L'eau not very similar to Issey. This is a luminous lemon. It purifies and exalts me. I do not believe in bad when this fragrance surrounds me. The code has nothing earth. But it's pretty strong!

lombredansleau

I used other Serge Lutens creations like Feminité du Bois, Clair de Musc and Daim Blond. I bought L'Eau from an online shop after having received a sample. This fragrance is a big disappointment, probably it took a great deal of time and investment to come up with this number but it's totally unoriginal, boring and flat even on a hot Summer day, when I'd prefer to wear Dior Escale à Portofino. I have the body lotion by Biotherm Eau d'Energie and it just smells the same as L'Eau and at a fraction of the price tag.

lara0905

This is a typical summer "go-to-shopping" fragrance.:) Casual, airy, lightsome greenish-aquatic mixture, very cosy and pleasantly refreshing.
Soft blend of the notes, not sharp at all.Just it has enough power to lingering around you for hours.Delicate, airy flowers, a drop of sage, mint with a sigh of magnolia, and tender musk,musk,musk...

All in all this is a nice everyday fragrance for summer, but if you look around on the market, you'll find similar fragrances for half or quarter price...( Gloria Vanderbilt's Eau de Luxe is almost identical with this scent but a little bit sharpened than this.)

spumyland

Surprisingly (or maybe not), this smells like just about any other “masculine” EdC with the usual aldehydic citrus, lavender, aromatic herbs, woody notes, some aquatic stuff, and a little laundry musk.

It’s strong and assertive, contradicting the hype stating that it’s “clean” and designed to provide a “break from perfume”. Really? It certainly fills, and even over-fills, my nose with what I’d call perfume. Maybe a functional scent for a laundry detergent, but perfume nonetheless. A break from perfume is nothing but my own sweat, thank you very much.

Having said this, the SL version of an EdC is not bad at all if you like the EdC genre. It does smell “clean” in the artificial sort of way contemporary people expect “clean” to smell, and it doesn’t disappear after an hour. In fact, it takes 3-5 hours for it to even dry down to a light skin musk, after which it lasts another 3-5 hours. Gimme a break. A real break. I don't need to pay big bucks for a break from perfume.

lacici

On me it smells like some sort of strong medicine when applied. Not a pleasant smell at all. After about an hour this strong smell faded a bit but it wasn't until after a few hours that it started to smell nice. The lasting power is very high on me, it only started to fade the next day. Still, I won't be using this one again, I want my perfume to smell nice from the beginning.

elenian

Well i like it very much, BUT on my husband is absolutely amazing! I think that is mostly masculine...It is a nice fragrance though!

xabaras

It's really fresh. I have just put it on and am waiting for it to develop.. For now it smells like citrus, slightly spicy, giving me the idea of a nice aromatic shower gel. Not necessarily "pour femme", I'd see it well also on a sporty man.
About an hour has passed since I sprayed it and it has now become exactly like Cool Water by Davidoff. I like it very much but I think that I'd prefer Cool Water to a very expensive version of it with a "WOW" first ten minutes...

Carestinus

I like it a lot after a few sprays... I smell a strong pepper note that isn't listed but makes it a great summer eau. It isn't unique but it works... I agree it's too expensive for what it is... still it gives a classy allure which fits a man or a woman equally and it's modern and easy to wear. Not in the first positions of Lutens' offerings but still a scent I'd use had I the full bottle with me. I think it's in the same group of creamy spicy citrus as Cereus 04.

Matin

it is true that the first minuts of the fragance are the best in my opinión . You feel the fresh minty , the whatery refresh orange ... really nice , fresh , casual unisex. But later the orange is more creamy and musky , more than a skyn scent not eau.

Matin

is the first time I can really smell the aroma of a freshly made natural juice of orange, fresh and bright. Incredible sensations you get with their perfumes ... clean and the smell of grass are also present. I recommend smell if only to feel ... Sergi is like one who places or objects portrayed in their perfumes.

it's more like a creamy orange peel scent..this is all i got and it doesn't last more than 3-4 hours !! is this lutens??

Iuliia

i love the first notes, resembles Chanel Chance to me, but in a lighter version! but after 15-25 min seems it disappears and i can't feel anything :s but i live the design, and generally i am an admirer of Lutens' masterpieces :)

querelle

A tad boring. And somehow not so original. All I get from this one is the loudness of magnolia and musks. It gets a bit sweet after 10 minutes and then it's all about powder. Nothing new and I believe some others done the anti-perfume genre in a more interesting way.
It's good if you don't really ask for much.

Volta

Very close to AQUA di GIO for men by G. Armani. Nothing special considering it's Serge Lutens.

nattonline

Sparkling freshness in a bottle. This L'Eau Serge Lutens is like a universal fragrance for the people. I get a lot of aldehyde, fresh (not really green) basil and sparkling citrus, but I don't get a lot of floral. Then it becomes tea-like lightness and a bit soapy and clean. There is a chill factor to it but without being metallicky at all. One down side, I find it a little bit too expensive for such a simple scent.

mseidoom

The Healing Garden White Tea body spray, that's what this reminded me of. There's a hint of mothball in the fragrance. About 20 minutes or so it gets to a clean musk scent. It's better later and if it smelled like that, from start to finish, then I would buy it.

This is one for someone (probably male) who doesn't want anyone to consciously notice that they are wearing a fragrance at all, but want a subliminal association with freshly laundered clothes, that lingers longer than the first few minutes after they get dressed. Why would anyone expend the kind of money that Lutens charges for this non-event? Well, no-one ever said subliminal messages weren't powerful,,and just think of the kind of marketing aimed squarely at business people who want to convey a impression of sophistication, style and good grooming - they are the target group for this. Plus collectors/completists who want to experience an elaborate expensive experiment in anti-perfume for themselves. In its own terms, it works, like some of Commes Des Garcons more bizarre output, but unless you have a very high disposable income, it's not going to top your wish list. Very clever in many ways, but pointless

This is not fresh; it's clean and warm. Opening is a bit confusing but that's everything where you get the citrus part; the real thing comes after an hour, no lemons or anything like that, it does smell like clean white quality cotton freshly iron shirt. It is comforting and warm in a clean non soapy way. No soapiness like Prada Infusion etc. It needs few wearings to understand it but it is totally worth Luten and it's classy scent but predominantly for men IMO. I'm definitely buying it. Last thing this is “clean” scent more suitable for winter or fall not fresh; try to put it on when it is raining or snow.

tessture

Crisp soapy clean, like laundry on the line without actually smelling of detergent. He succeeded in his anti-perfume.

You can pretty much smell all of the notes in here if you pay attention, including the soft floral, however the overall feeling is of a clean fresh soft citrus, very slight herbal feel, totally unisex. But a bit boring too.

libertybelle

Very soft floral with a bit of freshness. I get the verbena at the opening, then the fragrance fades to something soft and slightly sweet with the mint peeking out. Totally inoffensive so if that's what you're looking for, this is your fragrance. I don't find the fragrance overly soapy either. Just so so to me.

Sure it's pleasant-and smells nicer than L'Eau D'Issey-and even a tiny bit more interesting than pure soap, but we've all smelled this long before Serge Lutens decided to do what is unusual, and make a minimalist statement--for him. This isn't just "blech" like Cologne by Thierry Mugler to my nose, but you've been warned, that my idea of perfect fresh scents extends beyond what I would like to call "soapy pranks".

I like the citrus opening more than the anti-scent dry down. Sure it would smell nice on some clean person walking silently down a white hallway, but what's the point? If you want to make an antiperfume statement, just don't wear perfume. If you want to smell like soap, just use extra soap.

I like fresh minimalist scents in general. You can tell it by the fact that years ago I was looking for the ideal fresh one and chose Mauboussin M Moi. L’Eau follows the same path, but sounds even more neutral without making any curtsey in the direction of feminity. It's neither cold like L'eau D'Issey nor fragile like Oui! by Lancome. Well, it's totally... neutral.
The concept of clear space in its commercial fits the fragrance very well. The space where it's nothing left to be thrown away. On the blotter it sounds exactly like that. When I tried it on my skin, I felt an immediate urge to get rid of citruses, alien admixture to such a clean white shirt scent - fortunately, they disappear in 20-30 min without a trace. On the whole within its concept frame, the scent is not bad at all.
