Vanitas Eau de Toilette by Versace is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Vanitas Eau de Toilette was launched in 2012. The nose behind this fragrance is Dora Baghriche. Top notes are Freesia and Rose; middle notes are Osmanthus and Tiare Flower; base notes are Tea and Cedar.

Based on the success of Vanitas perfume from 2011, Versace launches its Eau de Toilette version in summer 2012.

“Vanitas Eau de Toilette continues to carry the idea of ‘couture’ that the original Eau de Parfum was born with,” said Gianni Sgariboldi, president of Euroitalia company that works with Versace fragrances since 2005. “But it was conceived with an even fresher olfactory nuance and combined with a ‘very Versace’ packaging design, for all the women who love the elegance and exclusivity that are part of the brand’s DNA.”

Dora Baghriche, the perfumer who created the original composition, also signs this new version. The composition blends notes of freesia and rose petals at the top with the heart of tiare flower and osmanthus and the base of cedar and black tea.

The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDT.

Pt.11

Shahrzaad

Somehow this is very citrusy on my skin even though there is not a citrus note. Maybe I am confusing freesia with citrus? In any case this is cold lemon and rose water iced tea for hot weather. Very clean-smelling as well.

CandyButterfly

I agree with the scent notes and accords as described by @qofb! This is a unique floral fragrance. I sprayed it on yesterday afternoon, wore it outdoors for dinner in warm weather, slept overnight, and still smell lovely wafts of green tea this morning before breakfast.

I have smelt a few other fragrances that remind me of this (Jimmy Choo Illicit Flower, J Lo Enduring Glow) but ultimately this is the best version of this kind of creamy yet fresh floral scent profile.

This is a freesia heavy scent to begin, quite refreshing, but creamy. As it dries there is tea and rose but they are background to the osmanthus, which is apricotty and creamy. The freesia is still there underneath that, I don't smell cedar at all here and the tiare is not obvious to me. It's strange but when I first got my bottle, I smelt more of the pink fresh rose and the tea, the note profile seems to have flipped as it's aged.

Overall this is a fresh and creamy floral, quite spring like, but good for summer too. Unremarkable but very pretty, I mostly used this one for work. It actually has decent longevity and pretty good projection, I got compliments, so people can smell it. I think this is discontinued, I've finished my bottle and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't repurchase even if it were available as I'm sure I will smell something similar in another fragrance soon anyway.

I just had to write another review because I've really come to love this scent. I finished the sample and now have a new appreciation for it. Not only is it very pretty, but it's different from most other tea fragrances that are built on the citrus, jasmine cologne refresher framework.
Though this initially starts out citrusy due to the freesia which has a citrusy facet, it soon becomes very creamy with an orangy/apricoty osmanthus and a lovely green tea. I'm finally getting the buttery tiare that I didn't smell so clearly the first time around. I guess the warmer temps are pulling it out. I am getting the rose but it more like in a bouquet than a clear stand alone. Maybe later in the season I will smell it more clearly. Eventually, on the far dry down when it almost turns into a skin scent, it become lightly powdery, though in no way overwhelming so.
This is not a sheer or particularly light fragrance. It's dense, smooth, and has some heft and body to it. It's good to use year-round, though I do find it smells better now that the weather is getting warmer. I'd say the strongest note would be the osmanthus, and it is one of the prettiest that I've ever smelled in any perfume. Though there were only a few sprays of the sample left, it literally lasted all day until I washed it off. So, performance is great too. I was so happy with this scent that by the end of the day I went to Fragnet and purchased a 3.4oz. tester, which was at a great price. I can't wait to receive it as I'm really looking forward to wearing this pretty scent again.

d_silent_one

This is an extremely clean smelling perfume. It is the epitome of the straight-out-of-the-shower scent. It smells very soapy and clean. Leaves a freshly clean sensation. With that said, this is super safe for enclosed, formal environments like an office or a work interview.

LSAUG

This is a very screechy freesia fragrance. It is also giving me a wicked headache. Glad I only got a mini. It smells like a very heavily fragranced freesia soap. This is super strong for a toilette. Headache inducing. It also reminds me a bit of Jadore, or one of the many flankers of Jadore and that does not speak well of this perfume, at least for me because I dislike all of the Jadore's I have smelled. Headache makers. If you love strong freesia perfumes give this one a try but if you are prone to headaches steer clear.

hperfume

It smells great!

Anamandy

I found samples of this in the edp and the edt among my samples. I must have received them with a purchase at one time or another because this fragrance, in either strength, was never on my radar and not something I had any interest in. Curiosity getting the better of me, I tested each strength side by side on the back of my hands.

Right off the bat the edp smelled totally different from the edt, despite many of the same notes used. It felt much heavier with a very strong tiare and lime note. It also had poor silage and was gone within an hour. The edt, on the other hand, is very pretty. It's a citrusy green floral that verges on being perfumey but is saved by the freesia and tea giving it a refreshing summer splash cologne feeling. I'm not a fan of freesia because of the tendency to be sharp and screechy, but here it is a creamy citrus floral vaguely reminding me of neroli. I'm not picking up the other notes so much, certainly not the rose or tiare, though the composition is very floral.

On the whole it's just a clean, citrusy floral perfume. Nothing groundbreaking, or anything that hasn't been done before, but it does smell nice. Funny, but the other night I tested out Tory Birch that I received as a gift and it was also a citrusy floral in the same vein, so there are plenty of scents out there like this. Silage and longevity are excellent, especially compared to the edp. Nice enough, but not fbw for me.

TerrCasey

Very nice, fresh, green and floral perfume. I think it's great for all seasons - its very much a spring scent, but it will also bring something different and exciting to winter. It holds on rather well, perhaps due to the scent being so noticeable. I normally prefer warm and sophisticated scents, but this is nice.

The only negative thing I can say about this scent is that it may smell a little bit like an air freshener so I may experiment and mix it with something sweet to give it more depth.

mldaleali28

On my skin there's no freesia, no tiare flower, nothing else than a few crushed rose petals, maybe even a leaf, but that's all. One of the most boring perfumes I've ever tested.

LMD

I like this. It's a very fresh floral, and smells almost citrusy to me even though no citrus notes are listed. I think it might be the combination of freesia and osmanthus. It's a lovely bright opening, reminiscent of Bright Crystal Absolu and Versense. The versace perfumes I've tried so far definitely have a similar feel to them. It's bright, fresh and clean. Great for easygoing casual spring days or inoffensive office wear. Not long lasting or much projection though, on me it became a skin scent within the hour. I like it and will use my sample but I don't think I need a full bottle of this.

graceolivia004

On me this smells very green and citrusy, when I first spray it it can be very alcohol-y but as it dries down it's a really nice summery scent, perfect for a summer or spring day. I can definitely smell freesia and also pear which I don't believe is one of the notes but overall seems white floral and citrus when I first smell it. The longevity I find to be really good and I can smell it on me most of the day. A really nice pick for an easy fresh spring scent.

bel.gravia

A very happy and sunny freesia, it reminds me of one of the Dior Addict EDT flankers. This is a positive perfume which carries the Versace spirit so well. It makes you think about the Versace ornaments, those baroque inspired bright yellow patterns of material. It is not particularly sweet, definitely a citrus floral. Nothing much musky in this one either. Vanitas smells like holidays, it is a safe choice for a present, to wear in the workplace or pretty much anywhere. It is also a fresh rose scent, the dewy freshly blooming rose of the morning. A very very pretty perfume!

wtjetje

Unfortunately this scent doesn't get along with my skin. From the nozzle it smells like the other reviewers descriptions, a sophisticated clean floral. But as soon as I spray it on my skin it turns into a screechy headache with a metallic twang underpinning the whole thing. Not sure why that is... But probably will pass this on to my mother as it is also a little mature for me

cookygirl

Well, this certainly is no 'shrinking violet'.
It may be an EDT but it has the assertiveness of an EDP and then some, even if not as saturated.
Vanitas EDT knows who she is and where she's going. No wishy-washiness here.
This coherence is a quality that I admire in a scent.
Vanitas EDT is very heavy on the rose. That, and to a lesser extent the tea, are practically all I smell. I also find this scent very linear. I don't get much development as it dries down.
As far as longevity goes, I sprayed once, on my wrist, and can still smell the scent after over five hours and it is not even fading.
That said, I do wish that I liked the scent itself more than I do. It's alive and vivacious but it's a tad too rosey for me and I also find it somewhat lacking in depth. However, I can definitely see a rose lover enjoying this.

MarchAZ

Ah, I simply cannot find anything special about it so I end up wearing it indoors every once in a blue moon, but I have to give credit to longevity and sillage so if you do like the fragrance itself, purchase it with confidence as it will go a long way.

bel.gravia

A beautiful, bright like summer morning floral scent. Just a tiny bit fruity, very pleasant. Very happy too!

tessiebee

A nice, inoffensive, office friendly perfume. Not particularly floral on me, more fresh green, like Leau D'Issey and Pure Verbena had a baby.
The tea note is really emphasised on me almost to Green Tea flanker level. Gives it some bite and a crispness. This is not a 'soft' perfume on me.

Siv7Stars

So very light n inoffensive it offends me with it's mehness. It's floral, it's soapy, bright, clean, young n fresh. The bottle is classy, the box has one of those weird granny scarf patterns beloved of both Versace and Hermes. Boring airport gift. I'm so ungrateful, sorry.

senalica

There is a certain floral freshness about this fragrance. Very gentle and feminine. Feels light and elegant. Moderately sweet. All in all very wearable, especially in spring/early summer.

masako_30

Vanitas Edt is pure freesia!
I really love how it remains fresh and green on my skin for hours as just sprayed, because of the tea notes I suppose.
This is very me.

TeaAndRoses

A basic sweet floral, unexciting and a little artificial to my nose. Inoffensive and fine for everyday summer wear. I don't notice the cedar or tea notes, and the floral notes are vague -- pleasant and sweet, but not specifically identifiable to my nose.
I think Versense is a more interesting summer floral scent from Versace and would recommend it over this one.

kati77

Average durability - approx. 5 hrs. The smell has something mild in it, it may be a combination of tea with a rose, but it also has something citrus, I do not know where, just how I feel. Not too much to my liking. I also have the Vanitas edp, which is more floral at first, even sharp. I definitely prefer edp.

Albaloo

A couple of years ago I received a Vanitas edt gift set from my Mum. She loves elegant but understated and mild perfumes, and Vanitas, I think is both of these things.
It is elegant, soft and well blended, fit for almost any occasion, especially when you don't want a perfume to be too loud.

I can't really smell the tea, which I am happy about since as much as I like it as a beverage and I drink at least four cups of it each day I don't really appreciate it in a perfume. The freesia and especially the rose are the most dominant notes throughout. The rose scent is like the smell rosewater rather than rose petal oil etc. It is a scent that I affiliate with middle eastern desserts and delicacies and is quite nostalgic for me, this and the fact that my Mum has chosen it for me makes vanitas very special for me.sillage is very soft and stays close the skin and on me it last about 3-4 hours max, which is understandable since it is an edt.

I used to wear this mostly around friends who are sensitive to perfume and also on very hot days when most my other perfumes felt too heavy, but recently I have started to wear it to my training sessions because it is very inoffensive and I know it won't bother anyone, so it has become a quite goto perfume. I think this would be a good choice for anyone who likes freesia and roses and is looking for a light and delightful spring-summer or a year round light office friendly scent.

EMIV

A very "classy girl from highschool who will get somewhere"scent. She wears sparkly earrings anda worn out fake fur coat, and feels like shes all grown up. Not a strong scent, does not leave a large impression, but non offensive and light

Atreyu_Crimmins

I was pleasantly surprised by Vanitas. The EDP is lovely but turns sweet and cloying as some have stated; the EDT stays fresh.

This perfume is perfect for the office, a lunch date, or when you want to smell clean and put together. Vanitas reminds me of Romance by Ralph Lauren actually and has a similar take on a casual scent that smells fresh and elegant but unexceptional.

Fans of super trendy gourmands or exclusive niche will probably find Vanitas boring, but I think it's lovely and if you enjoy clean floral woody aromas you will enjoy it too.

tina24

What I blind buy again! I just love it! Flowery but fresh, feminine and clean. This is exactly type of scent I love. By the way, great for summer :)

dina

Vanitas edt starts up like a blast of yellow flowers. But I get neither the rose nor the tea note.

It's bright, young, uplifting ... Just a few minutes after spraying it on my wrist, I kept telling myself this reminds me of another fragrance I know...

And yes it reminds me a lot of Cabotine when it fades down and when I checked the Cabotine's page, I found out they share a lot of notes.

Overall, a nice floral fragrance with decent sillage and longevity, suitable year-round and for any age.

hagertygal

Very office friendly tea rose scent. It's nice, but I tired of it very quickly. Not worth a repurchase, as I probably will not even use up the bottle I have now.

scarlett90601

Quite similar to Vanitas EDP (my signature) but less sweet with a prominent rose note. With the supposed tea and osmanthus notes I was expecting this to be somewhat similar to Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan but the two fragrances have nothing in common, since I don't detect either notes in Vanitas EDT. Modest sillage and not much longevity. Overall, it's a fresh and pleasant scent for spring and summer but I prefer the EDP version, which smells more elegant and expensive.

Swamp Lily

Vanitas edt is supposed to have a green accord with osmanthus, rose and tea notes. I get none of that. What I smell predominantly is lime, which is listed only for the edp. It is a white floral with this creamy citrusy long lasting top note. The scent is barely perceptible in cold weather but beautifully fresh with arms length silage when its warm. I checked my mini again and yes I do have the edt. There are many citrus florals but Vanitas is especially feminine and smooth. One for summer.

dezaval

This is a nice, fresh, clean everyday fragrance. Mostly recomended for spring or summer, this frag can be worn for a walk out, as it is not very heavy or offensive. It doesn't last long, but it will be with you for 2-4 hours.

PastelMoon

A fresh floral with a hint of something champagne like, something akin to fruity soap. I also smell a lot of tea, enough to make it almost mouthwatering. A tasty, light, nice, preppy scent that presents oneself in the most perfect form in warm (not too hot) weather.

alfa.lázcares

I have to try this one again cause when I finally sprayed it on, I had spend a lot of time testing perfumes (one of them being CK Obsession) and my nose was a bit tired.
But as for first impressions go, the first thing that came to my mind was "Yellow Diamond". To me it does smell like it, which is good since I love that one. There is something a bit different about this though, but it does remind me a lot to Yellow Diamond. The drydown is a bit different, maybe more floraly, but again, I need to test it one more time.
The negative part is that, like Yellow Diamond, this one also sits quite close to the skin and it does not last that long.
Will edit if I try it again (maybe along side Yellow Diamond to compare the two).

lemmenkukka

I love freesia! It´s so YOUNG; FRESH; JOY; HAPPY;LIGHT;STYLISH;STOCKHOLM!!!

adrianacruzh

I just bought it yesterday. It's so delicious! So fresh! So young! I definitely recommend it!

ScarlettX

Nice, light freesia scent. Feminine, easy-going and inoffensive.
I think EDP was a little more fresh, because of the lime note, this one is more floral. Cedar note is also lighter than in EDP version.
Classic everyday scent!

Mooniq

I like Vanitas EdT alot. The Tea-note is dominant on my skin and the Rose, Freesia and Osmanthus dances around it. the Ceder-note is not detecable and I'm glad 'cause it often turn maleish on me. Vanitas EdT is a great everyday-scent to wear.

victoria.mei1992

Very chemical smell.

Littlegrassstraw

Inoffensive light floral, with a surprisingly pleasant sweet fruity note (am usually no fan of fruity) and a bit of soapiness. However as far as I have seen, vanitas is usually overpriced for what it is (not all that special). But it is a nice spring scent when you just want to feel fresh and clean and a little bit extra pampered. For me, it's a perfect work scent.

I am not fond of soapy notes - perhaps if you are a big fan of light, soapy and slightly fruity florals it will be a real hit?
Decent projection and lasting power.

NEGAN

بوش برای من یاداور بوی زیارتگاه ست..به همین دلیل چندان نپسندیدم..بوی گلاب محمدی اش رو اصلا دوست ندارم....

ancaan

Spring in a bottle! Very feminine and fresh scent! I love freesia and thank god i smell plenty of it. It is a floral perfume and i detect something fizzy, almost like champagne. Longevity it pretty good, considering is EDT: about 6+ hours.

sikei

Very feminine fresh scent. I love it! Has the potential to be my signature scent.

CarolJackson

Love this fragrance, very similar to Yellow Diamond, its a gorgeous feminine fragrance perfect for the office!

Elisa S

Top and middle notes are pleasant to me, though not very outstanding. The feeling that I get from them is 'floral, clean and ladylike'. I think it is dominated by freesia, which has this fresh-peppery-clean-floral smell.

My favorite stage of this fragrance is its drydown. To me, it is mostly 'clean' cedar wood and black tea, as listed, along with traces of the flowers from the top and middle notes.

I find the fragrance a bit weak though. I actually prefer scents to be close to the skin, and usually only spray one time. But with this one I need to spray twice to even notice it on myself..

Update, spring 2015: There is nothing unpleasant about this scent. But I find it too 'pretty' for me to wear on its own. Though I like to keep it for layerings with other scents.

Arlene-Beatrix

First notes are very nice, but later it develops into very soapy, nauseating scent on my skin. House of Versace should really have more cheerful and sexy fragrances, to keep it the same as their clothes!

Antares811

Lovely floral, fresh, delicate and feminine. Subtle but longlasting. I love it.

harini_20

Very floral..fresh!!!! It's sooooo feminine and it sets well for all ages!!!! Suits for both day and evening wear!!!!

Inesis

I received a sample of this with a magazine and I have worn it today. It's nice and fresh, very spring-y. I mostly smell roses. To me it is very similar to Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur or Versace Yellow Crystal. I own them both, so I wont be purchasing this or at least not for a very long time.

The sillage at first seemed to be quite hard, but in the end it's kinda tame, medium at most. Lasting power a couple of hours. A good frag but I have seen this already.

sweetberry25

Perfect! unique, clean, not heavy as the EDP, you can wear it in any occassion, i loved it from the first scent!

Habanita

Very fresh and clean, but to me this smells like some cleaner essence - not desirable.

sreenk

I own this..loved it the moment i smelt it...simply feminine
